  1. Hello, I'm trying to make the switch from Adobe to Affinity. I have this issue that it only seems to show on my Wacom Cintiq 16. Every time my brush hovers over my strokes they drop resolution/quality. I'd love to draw in Affinity photo, but I can't get around the low resolution lines. Any help? is this a known bug? what should I do? Note: Page size is Default A4 size, 300 DPI. Affinity Designer "pixel persona" doesn't drop brush stroke resolution. (Which uses pixels as well) Wacom cintiq 16 drivers are up to date. Specs: i7-10700k 3.
  2. Hello I created a page with some graühes in publisher and i wanted to move some single lines in one of the graphes ... so i changed to photo perosna and realized that affinity changes the quality of the graph. is that normal? or how can i avoid it? First pic is in publisher and second one when i switch to photo
  3. Personally, I have been having a hard time accepting AP as a replacement for PS. There is a performance issue and quality issue. I have attached a side-by-side example of a NEF image taken with my D750, both zoomed too 100% . The image were processed similarly, or as best I could. You can PS did a much better job, especially in regards to sharpeness. Has anyone else done this comparison? If so, what were your results?
  4. Hi, when I import my PNG logo it gets pixelated regardless of dimensions I import. The same png logo looks great on my web page and other materials. I also use it in Sketch3 App and it looks great as well. Any Ideas what do I do wrong?
  5. Hi, I'm having a problems with live filter perspective. After I made few live filters perspective there is a quality problem while I zoom/export/move etc. Even the same files are different in export. So it is not a problem of linked (placed) file. I hope you can see this video and it is helpful: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1AJB719uyg9oW_iKr2D9oPxRvHijTW9sg
  6. Hello Wondering if anyone can help me solve this issue. Im a new user of Affinity photo but have used Photoshop for some years. After loading in a few images ( Canon Raw CR2 file) i noticed the quality ( sharpness) was markedly reduced from the original even before any editing had taken place, the image appeared soft. After editing and export (PSD bilinear) the image was further degraded. I carried out the same process in Photoshop it was clear to me that the Photoshop export was less effected than that from Affinity. In addition the export file from Affinity was at least twice as la
  7. Since the early beta Versions I encounter very low rendering quality while exporting a setup with a gradient image and some overlays. If I just "print" it into a PDF it looks formidable so it is not a problem of PDF itself. It would be good to be able to export natively via the export option an not going via the print2pdf option. See files attached please. This happens in all PDF Quality Settings. Colorspace for Export and ICC Profile is "as in Document".
  8. Hey guys, I designed my pages in AD for my book, now I want to make the final paperback and fixed layout ePub in InDesign, why format should I export each page as to InDesign without loss much quality? the page content images and vectors, I decide to add text in InDesign so I can embed the font for the final export files(print ready pdf and ePub to be publish) and adjust everything nicely in InDesign.
  9. Both from Photo/Designer, regardless of "copy as SVG" option stat. When I paste an image into Photoshop, they in the Smart Vector Object created become low resolution.
  10. When browsing project files in Finder (macOS) I noticed that the same project as a .psd will preview a high-res thumbnail of the artboard but if the project is saved as .afdesign there is a low-res thumbnail. I was curious if anyone else noticed or has this behavior. If possible, I think it'd be great if Affinity would save higher-res thumbnails of the project file to make browsing in Finder a little more useful. I included screenshots to show the difference.
  11. Hello, After a little search, I found that others have had issues getting clear images after saving a finished product in Affinity. I am not great with computers, and I bought Affinity because it looked simple enough to use and the one time payment vs subscription works well for me. Overall, I have been happy with using Affinity, except that my images turn out fuzzy. I am an illustrator (pen and paper) and after scanning my images, I upload them to make sure everything looks good, and save a large file for prints, and a smaller one for the web. All is well, except when I upload th
  12. In reference to a thread about a deal-breaker-problem that still persists in over a year see: As >|< pointed out in this thread, "the current Affinity PNG exporter does not support variable opacity in an indexed-pallet image (commonly called PNG-8), hence the jagged edges." A professional webdesigner uses PNG's quite often. If possible SVG, but PNG is still (and probably will remain) needed for specific artwork that is both small in file size and has professional transparent edges. As most of the webdesigners, that use Adobe software, know that since the CC version their new P
  13. Hello everyone I am trying the Affinity Photo and Designer with the intention of buying it if they convince me. But I have seen that they have a big problem (For me). The quality of compression and size, is very bad. This is bad if I want to make a Web with images that weigh little but that look good. This image that I put, are the tests I have done to these 3 programs. Adobe Photoshop, Luminar2018 and Affinity Photo. All photos have been compressed in the same way: JPG and 10% quality (Low Quality) As you can see, the best quality is PhotoShop and the worst Affinity. The one that is
  14. Hello... I know that y'all are working in the road map, and one of the features asked (trace bitmap).. Here I will give y'all a image that I would like that the quality of this be so good that can convert kind of this images... you can select another for examples... but I know that That one is pretty difficult. I tried different software and cannot give good result... Hope you can do better. Here is the image. Be creative in add tools for do this kind of stuff. I will love more affinity, I love it right now but I will love more with this and I know that
  15. Hi everyone, I'm fairly new to this forum but am trying to get some ideas about book cover designing. I'm planning to have my novel published very soon (through CreateSpace) and am especially interested in premade covers. There are many out there but most are mediocre at best. I'm wondering if anyone has an idea about this site: www.bookcoverzone.com - Nice covers, decent pricing and all but it's an automatic system, and I've never seen or tried anything like this before. If anyone has bought from this site, any feedback would be much appreciated.
  16. I use Nikon D700 and Affinity Photo process my RAWs quite differ from Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. Images are losing details and have incorrect tones and gamma. I did not find how to deal with it in Affinity. As a workaround, I can use Lightroom as RAW converter, then export to TIFF and can edit it in Affinity, which totally does not make any sense. Hope Affinity guys know this issue and working on that. See an example below. It is just opened RAW files without any additional settings implemented. You can see how much details I loose in lips and eyelashes.
  17. Please help me other problem I have a Panasonic GX80 camera. If I open it in Affinity Photo, I set the colors and set it to arm with the Unsharp Mask. Then I export the image quality will be bad. It is blurry, painted, and apparently much firmer than when I import it from Photoshop Express. What's the problem here? Because it's really a big deal. If only setting what's wrong? I tried everything. I attached an example. But it's much firmer than other pictures. I'm going to add something like that. the left hand side of Photoshop Express is perfect. On a full screen, blurred
  18. Dear all, I would like to compress my massive amount of JPGs in order to save some space and when I just opened up a picture in order to try out the amount of compression that would not yet show too much in the quality the following thing surprised me: The original JPG is about 4.4 MB big. If I go straight to "Export" (really don't do anything in between) and want to export it at 100% it is suddenly 9.43 MB when using Affinity Photo. When using Photo Plus X8 the "new" picture is about 8.0 MB. So it more than doubles in size just by opening in a programme and exporting it in the original
  19. Hello! I'm Affinity iPad newbie and I have a problem with quality during the transformation. After Rasterise ▸ Rasterise my image lost quality after each move. If I want to cut the selection and transform it, it becomes blurred after one move. What can I do to save quality? I have already posted this question on another topic but received no answer. Sorry if I did something wrong but I can't use the app because of this problem.
  20. What are everyone's thoughts on how Affinity processes RAW files (v 1.6.6). Are you happy with the output? I continue to be challenged with the perfect software for my needs so I thought I would start with highlight recovery and create a comparison file using the same photo in a number of different applications. Note that this is far from a scientific study. What are you all thoughts on which is best? Again, this is only the highlight recovery and I know there are other factors involded in development. 21. I run Designer 1.5.2.58 and I have an issue when exporting to any rasterized file format be it PNG, JPG, ... Changing the resampling method does have a slight impact on quality, but it is never as it should be. See the attached screenshot: left is how Designer displays the document on my screen at 100%, right is a PNG export with PNG-24 preset selected at 100%. The shadow doesn't render correctly and the fonts render very badly in the PNG. Thanks for helping with this!
  22. hey, for some reason when i make a document below 1000 ish px the quality doesn't seem that good (im a complete noob, sorry if this is a dumb question) This is a 512 x 512 px document and when i make a shape and fill it, it looks fuzzy around the edges (this happens when i add a picture too but the whole picture is fuzzy instead of just the edges) These are the settings i used, did i do something wrong? or is it supposed to be like that Sorry again if its a dumb question, thanks
  23. Hey everyone! I am not positive if this is a bug or not. Most of the time, jpg compression works alright, but sometimes, preserving colors will be a huge issue. Even when using 100% quality, some images will suffer from an extreme color loss. Is there a way to avoid this while still compressing the image? Are there some weird things going on with the color profile? Or is this to be expected? [EDIT: Alright, this is a bug of some sort. If I take a look at the images here in my browser, this issue isn't present. The colors look fi
  24. Hi! I really want to get Affinity Photo & Designer but I think I only have 2 maybe 3 years left for my current laptop computer (she is great but she is old). Do the programs, when purchased, come with a backup discs mailed to your home, or would I have to buy the programs all over again if I switched to a new computer? Thank you for your time. 3=)
  25. Hello, I have a bug with Affinity Designer when I export my artboard. Everything looks fine in Affinity Designer, sharp lines,.. it's great. (cf attached file 1.jpg): ) but when I export my artboard, the lines are not sharp anymore, they look like "stairs" (cf attached file 2.jpg and 3.png): I tried to export in jpg, png and it's the same. (in psd and svg it seems fine but useless in my case). Do you know this issue? Thanks
