  2. Hey everyone! Please consider including saving and loading the studio layout to and from file (windows, toolbar content, tools position and content) for Designer, Photo and Publisher. This would speed up things when - using the software on multiple Macs - having the layout set back by an update (e.g. 1.7) - going from a beta version to the store version It took me about 45 minutes to setup the UI for Affinity Publisher, including Designer and Photo persona, on two Macs. Also, I think the Designer and Photo personas of Publisher should read the UI layout of Designer and Photo. Best wishes, Shu
  3. I can create Master page A and apply it to the first page of my document. I cannot apply it to any other page of the document. Since I would like the first page to be different from the rest, I decided to duplicate it and try applying Master B to the rest of the document, but it did not fully duplicate. I had to reset column guides and add a numbering field. I still cannot get it to apply to the remainder of the document. I also added an extra photo placeholder and text box to the first master but it also applied it to the second master also. Having watched a couple of tutorials on creating master pages I am confused. I have InDesign experience but although this seems similar I am not having similar results. RR Template.afpub

  5. Got Problems with the field panel: I'm just delving deeper into the world of Publisher (V 1.7.1.404) - absolut exiting! I have just watched the video tutorial "Page layout". Unfortunately, I am not able to insert even a single field into a text frame via the field panel by double-clicking, as explained in the video as well as in the online help. The cursor is placed in the text frame (master document) the style palette "Fields" is open, but e.g. the fields "Name" or "Page number" are not clickable with the mouse. When I use the Text/Insert/PageCount commands it works but no hashtag is displayed in the master document, but " Nr.". Curly braces are not shown either. I work with a German version on Win 7. In the screenshot you can clearly see that also the instruction appears grey in the palette. What can I have overlooked? Thanks for help
  6. Control-z is the universal "undo" keyboard shortcut for PC's. It doesn't work in the new Publisher when you apply a rotate left or right to a selected vector object. Yes, you can effectively undo it by right clicking on the object and select reset rotation, or rotate in the opposite direction, but Control-z should also work. ALSO, PLEASE make the topics SEARCH-ABLE ! It is a waste of time looking through 15+ pages of posts to find your issue.
  7. If I have overlooked this feature I am sorry to bother all y'all (my southern is showing). I Love the way in PagePlus X9 you could visually choose page size and format from the New Publications My templates screen. I have been unable to find a similar facility in Affinity Publisher. If it is available I would appreciate a pointer on how to find it. It it is not available, my I suggest some form of it be added to Publisher. I have kept my PagePlus X9 so I can easily print labels, etc. that are easily formated from Templates screen. I would like to find it in Publisher so that I no longer need PagePlus. Thank You in advance.
  8. Hello, I have a pretty annoying problem with StudioLink... So I have the three Affinity apps on Windows (no Beta version, I bought all of these), but when I go into Publisher then I click on the Designer Persona button in the top left corner, it displays that: I can't switch into the Designer Persona, just as if it wasn't on my PC... Note: My apps are up-to-date and I've already launched them at least once. They're in the default installation folder which is defined during their setup. Do you have any clue? Thank you!
  9. When I add a table to my document it never shows the column headers (A, B, C, D, . . . ) or the row numbers (1, 2, 3, 4, . . . ). I can't seem to find a setting to show or hide them. I am running Publisher v 1.7.0.249. I am running Mac OS Mojave.
  10. When I tried the beta, I was immediately sold. I was up and running from an RTF template in moment, all my styles importing. Now when I import, they styles don't come in. When I tried to do it in different ways, Publisher crashed on me. I'm going to give it one more try on the new 16 page project I'm doing, then going back to Adobe until I figure this out. Did something change in how things import or come in?

  12. A couple of quick questions: I imported an MS Word10 pdf file with over 130 pages with "minor" problems. a. Numerous words are missing space bands. b. Upon editing the above text, the justification on the line blows out the right margins. c. It seems that any hyphened words get "spelling error" underscore. Q1: Are there any "quick solutions" for the above a-c items, since this is a novel that I'm trying to reformat so that it looks nicer. (These errors are extensive.) Otherwise, the conversion is on the money! Great presentation on Publisher today! Q2: Is Publisher able to import raw MS Word10 .docx files? Or is that on the "wish list?"
  13. Hi, here is a bug. Story: I make a master page, add artistic text as Heading 1, align to center and top of page. Then I make some new pages based off that master page. I'll go to the first one, detach it so I can edit, change the original h1 text content, go to alignment - align left, then click finish.... The master then changes to the left side too..... When I go to the next page, I'll align center, and all pages based off this master page now go center (including the one I just aligned left).... I go to the next page based off this master, align right, same thing: Everything is now on the right, including the master. Computer spec / hardware: Windows 10 Pro laptop, no external hardware. Affinity Publisher Version: 1.7.1.404 Reproduceable / Happens in new document?? Yes and yes. See attached file. If this is not good enough, I'll make a short video of it.   14. Hi, I have downloaded and updated my Affinity publisher, however, when I open the software it's still advising me that there is an update. I have restarted my machine since the update and the same thing is happening. P.S looking forward to product launch. Thanks in advance. Clyall90
  15. I like to set up keyboard shortcuts to reset the colours back to black and white. So I did that in all the Affinity programs in Publisher. When I start a new document default (white) is set is set to R=231 G=232 B=233 and Default (black) is set at R=35 G=31 B=32. If I use my keyboard shortcut to make the actual Black and White (not sure why they are not by default) White will be R=255 G=255 B=255 as it should be. But Black is still as it was R=35 G=31 B=32. If I change both colours and use the keyboard shortcut, they return to actual white and not black numbers as stated above. Is there a way to set the colours by default to white and black and is there a way to edit the colours got via the keyboard shortcut? On a side note, I have also set up a keyboard shortcut to get 50% grey, when I use my shortcut the colour I get is R=147 G=149 B=152 surely 50% grey is R,G,B=128?

  18. I have been able to do the following steps: Create a table. Place an image (which places it on the page, not in the table). Cut the image (Cmd-X). Click into a table cell to place the text cursor. Paste the image (Cmd-V). After these steps the image appears to be embedded in the table cell and adheres to horizontal and vertical positioning applied to that table cell. That's good to see, but how can I place the image directly into a table cell? The above workflow is cumbersome when doing a lot of these.

A common practice for me is to pull lists of sponsors from an excel spreadsheet into my layout for creating thank you ads, banners, etc. I have had a recurring issue crop up when I link the overflowed text to a new text frame to create columns. The overflowed text comes into the new linked text frame tiny, and with various different text properties (size, leading, paragraph spacing, right indent, etc.). It is difficult to manually correct the text, as it seems to have a mind of it's own. Here is what I'm doing: I have been working from converted Indesign CS 5.5 files (exported as PDFs and opened in A-Pub) Select all the old text and replace by pasting Excel content over it without formatting (CTRL+ALT+Shift+V) Create new empty text frame & link with existing text frame If there is already an existing text frame that came in with the original document, it works fine. If it's a brand-new document, or all new text frames, it works fine. It only seems to crop up when mixing old and new frames. Correcting it is difficult. The best way I have found is to use paragraph styles applied with character style override, but it's not perfect--more of a workaround. The problem doesn't actually go away, because if you change the text frame's size and it reflows, the text that is reflowed changes (gets bigger or smaller, depending on the direction of the reflow). I am still running Windows 7 (service pack 1), if that factors in. I have the complete Affinity suite, all updated to the latest versions--though this issue was in the Beta of Publisher as well (found it a couple days prior to release, so thought I'd wait and see if it was addressed).
  20. I do have a question. How can we link our existing Affinity Photo and Designer software from the App store with StudioLink? It currently says that both are not installed on my Macbook Pro, but they are.
  21. I have purchased & updated my Affinity Photo application (this is all on my windows laptop), & yet still Affinity Publisher can't seem to connect to it. Any thoughts or suggestions as the problem & solution?
  22. Congratulations to Serif and the Publisher team on release! In very early use, I'm noticing that Publisher 1.7.1 is not seeing all the fonts installed on my Mac. I don't notice a particular pattern, though I haven't yet looked hard. In particular, "Book Antiqua" is MIA, though it is verifiably active on my Mac. (2017 MBPro, High Sierra.) Thank you for the release.

  24. Hi there, I know own all three products and they are sweeeet.. One thing I took as a given though, which has stopped me in my tracks is the inability to package a document. Quite often, we designing brochures/ads etc one 'borrows' assets from other documents, creates things on desktop, places images form an external drive etc etc - so when the job is finished, I would always collect or package the final artwork and archive it - so that in the future I can be confident that all the assets for that project are all in one place. This is crucial to keeping files/fonts etc organised, and manageable - especially when working with other people who may not have access to all the same drives/fonts etc. Will this be coming in an update soon? It's kind of the last crucial piece to a lot of designers' workflow Thanks in advance! Andy
  25. As a quick question, what is missing from studio link? At a glance, there's no way of accessing Photos or Designers "sub personas"? I can't see the liquify options for example
