  1. I've seen posts saying they wish Affinity Photo had reference layers like Procreate. It does! In this tutorial I show this plus when to use Fill vs Alpha lock. Shown in iPad and Desktop. https://youtu.be/NPtN-op8zyg
  2. I'd love a feature that connects linework without using nodes like Procreate does. I'll attach a video link so you'll see what I mean. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwrVqHyuGgE at 7:51 he starts connecting the lines. Once he connects them he can drag/drop colors into each open space. When I try that with Designer, the color goes outside the lines. If these features are available, please let me know how and where.
  3. There's this tutorial here on how to convert Procreate Brushes (working as of this date) to Affinity Brushes. It involves unarchiving the Procreate Brushset into it's respective Brush files / folders. In each folder is a PNG file (commonly "shape.png"). It's that file that is used and converted for use in Affinity Designer. Here (my examples) they are imported as "Intensity" Brushes: I've used this technique quite a bit. What I've also found depending on HOW you convert the image you get different results as well as possibilities. Example a Floral Brush: Using GIMP (Or the Photo Editor of your choice (not sure how to do this using Affinity Photo). I select by color, Shrink the selection (Play with the settings), delete the selection and get the following result. One is the direct result. The other is the colors inverted (one with a black border, the other with a white border): Using this method, I get results that give very different possibilities when using Styles and Layers to overlap the end results: Worth playing around with. Here's (attached) two AFD files to show you more clearly the possibilities. The first uses "Select by Color", "Selection / Shrink" the second uses "Select" (which just selects the surrounding exterior not "Select by Color" as above and "Selection / Grow" (Play with the settings). Enjoy. fleur9_9a_x2_a_Color_AFD.afdesign fleur9b_9c_x2_b_Color_AFD.afdesign
  4. I'd like to see the Fill tool behave a little bit better for dropping color without it blowing up the edges with the tolerance. I've tried to get it to create a workflow similar to Procreate to fill enclosed spaces of needed color but it seems to just botch up the edges.
  5. I’m posting this in iPad Support & Questions as this was my initial requirement; however, I believe answer may apply to AP Desktop. Is it possible to import Procreate .brush sets? If yes, please share your process. Thank you.
  6. Hello, I need to export .psd files from Designer to Procreate. When I try, pressing the "share" button from designer and I send it to procreate, procreate gives an error message that says in spanish "No se puede importar la ilustración. La ilustración excede las capacidades del dispositivo". The translate into english would be "The illustration can't be imported. It exceed the capacity of the device". To be able to export the file, I have to save it on drive, open it on Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop in the computer, erase the background layer, save it again as psd, and then open it in procreate. I'd need to export the files directly from designer to procreate to save time. Would it be possible to fix this with some actualization? Thank you very much. Regards.
  7. Hi I’m trying to convert an image I made on procreate into a vector. I noticed that I can import a file and then export it as an SVG file. Is this a way of converting to a vector file? I’m trying to design something that looks hand drawn. Thank you.
  8. I've just swapped over from Procreate to Affinity due to Procreate not being vector based. I initially started designing a logo in Procreate until realising I needed to swap, but I'm unable to bring my brush with me. I've searched for days for a similar brush and cannot find anything! Any help would be massively helpful otherwise I'll have to start the logo again and re-jig the style I've attached 2 screenshots to show the brush. Thanks!
  9. Hi! Does it make sense to wait for the light version for the iPhone in the near future? I really miss the pocket vector editor for accurate sketches ... with symmetry and sticking on the grid Or can you recommend an application from another manufacturer?
  10. Hello everyone, hello Affinity team, first of all, I love your software - its awesome! Using it for Mac and the iPad Their is a small thing, that would improve your software - its about the freehand selection tool. Can you "steal" the idea from the ProCrate app for the iPad? How their freehand selection tool works? Their selection tool is pretty cool. You can stop the selection if you lift of the pen, BUT if you put the pen again on the iPad, then it connects the points where you ended and were you started again. If you are ready with the selection, you can double tip on a little circle on the beginning of the selection, so its closes the selection. So the hole selection part becomes very easily. I´m not an native speaker, so I hope I could make the idea clear- in my opinion this is the perfect freehand selection tool, because you can take breaks and don't have to do the hole selection in one hand gesture or to refine it the hole time with selection/selection again and again. Maybe you could look at the ProCreate App to understand what I mean. I think this little feature would be a big improvement. Have a nice day - you guys and girls are doing great work!!!! <3 Oh and their is one last thing- could you change that you have so save the selections on the iPad version on an extra channel? That is pretty unwieldy . I would love it, if you just can do a thing like "command+click" like on the desktop version. Or just tip on the layer and hold for a sec. to make a selection- that would be pretty cool.

  12. In case you are not familiar with it, Procreate is basically the number one most popular digital raster painting application on iOS. It's a great and fast little program with a very well thought-out UI. It would be cool to be able to open their files up in Affinity Photo on the Desktop. There is currently no application on the Desktop that supports .procreate files natively, so they must currently be exported to PSD on the device, which loses some features like the embedded time-lapse video. PSDs also cannot be re-imported, hence PSD is not suitable for archiving files from Procreate. So being able to open the native files in a desktop app would be great, and it's something many Procreate users have been requesting for years. Thus I imagine you might be able to generate quite a few extra sales among Procreate users. And when the iOS version of Photo is released, Procreate support would of course be even more useful. Ideally, if the Affinity QuickLook plugin would also provide support for viewing .procreate files in Finder and QuickLook, as that would be the absolute icing on the cake. The file format is actually quite simple, it's basically a ZIP file with some plists that describe the structure, then there are the individual raster tiles as separate files, and the embedded time-lapse video. The only potentially difficult thing would be figuring out how to decode the image tiles as they seem to be compressed somehow in recent versions, but I'm sure the people at Procreate would be glad to help with that.
