  5. Good morning, I have some questions about PDF export setting. Context : I'm working in a printshop, we are working on PDF files with our customers. Color Management -> What is the color motor for conversion on these software ? -> It could be replace Adobe ACE, Adobe PDF Libray, or specific conversion tools without any problems ? (conversion ICC or Device Link in RVB -> CMJN ; CMJN -> CMJN ; or anything else). -> I have see that my PDF was converted by Apple Quartz on my PDF (exported by Adobe Designer). will you add some other options in the future ? -> How is managed transparency in your PDF ? Export setting -> do you use the Adobe PDF Print Engine for export PDF (APPE) ? in the future ? -> in the future, did you add other advanced setting for exporting PDF ? (like PDF/X certified, PDF version 1.4, etc.) I know that my questions concerned more an "Affinity Publisher" than Designer or Photo, but I think the same question make sens on both. Regards, Senjou'
  6. So this question is not truly AD specific, but since I created my printed document in AD, I will kindly ask you to answer my question if you can. So I started by creating an A4 sized paper. I used text as well as other vector graphics I inserted from a PDF I made. Since AD is not very suitable for hand-writing with a tablet ( I tried Wacom Intuos, but the brush kind of smoothed out and it lagged), I used my iPad with GoodNotes and my Adonit Jot Touch (a capacitive stylus). I then exported my hand writings as a PDF (GoodNotes is vector, so should be now problem), inserted the PDF in my AD document and removed the background. I had the beautiful curves I wanted. Still everything was vector graphic. I also used standard text in my document using the text tool in AD. Now I exported as PDF and 300 dpi, which the print press required. Today, my print project was in the mall. I noticed something strange. The text which I made in AD with the standard text tool was sharp, but the vector curves (my handwriting from the iPad) was slightly blurred / pixeled. Now this is strange since even the photos and other rastered objects I had in this document are still sharper than my vector hand writing. Has anybody a clue, how this could have happened? I am just curious, whether there are some differences in vector graphics. Has anybody any experience with this? I have added some screenshots and photos. I just want to make it better next time. The photos are low quality but you can see the difference in the sharpness. The text is very sharp, the hand writing is slightly pixeled. Keep in mind that the handwritten text is about he same size as the text "Schau mir in de ..." below the red title. Please post any ideas on how this could have happened. I will talk to the print press on monday, but I had a similar problem with other print presses as well. (Text was pixeled / low quality, even though it was PDF). Sincerely, Walter
  7. Hello, if I understood some tutorial correct when sending stuff for print the document setup should be Print (Press-Ready) and in CMYK and Generic CMYK-profile. However, AD automatically changes itself from Press-Ready back to 'Print' only. I've tried creating a new document and choosing Press-Ready before the document is created, it still changes to Print. (Don't know if it matters but I made the document 12 meters x 0.6 meters which is the size of the sign that I need new graphics on...) I'm about to send a EPS-file to a company that will print the graphics for my shop's sign. Any thoughts? They want a EPS-file. This company will only do my sign (and later car) but I'm also sending other material, paper print, to someone else who wants it as a PDF. Must both the PDF and EPS be "Press-Ready"? I'll of course ask the companies as well but I'd like to finish first to get a pricing on the job... inneute.skylt.afdesign inneute.skylt.eps
  8. Maybe I have messed with a setting somewhere but, Affinity seems to lose the top margin when I print. I set it at , say, 15mm and it starts the page about 13mm higher (on A4 paper). Thus my drawing has to be shifted down about 13mm to come out truly as intended. I had not noticed this before so maybe it has come in after last upgrade. If I export the whole page as pdf and then print margins are correct! See file Test page and Print Preview Grab. Affinity Print Problem.tiff
  9. I just finished editing a photo, looks really nice on the screen, but when I click on "Print", the print preview, as well, as the printed photo, looks like the original photo before any of my editing. All the colors look washed out as in the original photo. It is as if there is a "veil" over the edited photo. Yet, if i export the image as a TIFF or JPG, and open it in Mac OS X "Preview" app, it looks as it does in Affinity Photo when I edited it. I don't understand why this is happening. I am working on: iMac, 27-inch, Mid 2011 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 8 GB RAM AMD Radeon HD 6970M 1024 MB OS X Lion 10.7.5 and OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 In God's Harmony
  10. Would it be possible to have a full print UI, to permit a simple flow of (library) -> AP -> (adjust image) -> print (without having first to return to the library manager)? I know that it is possible to define print settings from Document but it's, well, a bit of a PITA. For example if, after editing in AP, I want to make an A4 print to mount and a couple of 6 x 4 prints to share, it is currently easier to go to Aperture or LR to do this than adjust Document settings, but it would be nice if that step could be avoided. Thanks
  11. Why is the default colour format for a new document with Print as the type, RGB? Shouldn't it default as CMYK? The Press-Ready Preset is, but not the general Print. I think this is just leading more to the conclusion that this app is being aimed at digital designers and really not thinking of print design.
  12. Hey guys, loving the program with each illustration I work on, but I have had this issue with 2 different files, when I export my pdf it looked really pixelated, blurry and doesn't look like it was made with a vector program, giving me a really blurred look once I printed it out. My work around was exporting an eps, opening it with illustrator, saving it as a pdf from illustrator and printing, and I still had some little details looking blurred cartel_1.pdf
  13. Hello, I'm not sure if I'm getting it, It seem like I can't find "Overprint", "Separation Preview" in the application? I also find it very hard to work with colour, I am totally lost if working without a list of colour swatch. I have no idea what colour is being used in an artwork, was is CMYK colour, Spot colour or RGB colour ... Regards,
  14. Hi, When you create a "print" document with exact size (US Letter, US Legal, etc..), the size is never used when you want to print. I have to export to PDF and then use Preview to be able to do it. I think it could save a lot of time to have it automatically matching the document settings when you want to print.
