  1. Currently run beta designer for windows v1.5.0.4 (win8.1 i5 2500K overclocked to 4gHz 8GB RAM, Samsung SSD + many other hard disks.) Created my master piece but the print shop wants me to give them the format in pdf, OK no problems, but... When I export to print I (original use document resolution) end up with extra image information (like it is displaying the edges of the images- perhaps you cold call them shadows or lines) in some places. When I use the export to "pdf export" option these anomalies don't show up. The image in designer doesn't' show any "extra shadows-lines" only in pdf for print. When export to .png it is also clean no shadow/line type of noise. Any ideas why the pdf gives two different results in this the case? Thanks.
  2. Discovered a small bug: create a new document of the type "Print (Press-Ready)" select the Vector Brush tool and paint something () select the move tool (the painted object gets selected automatically) from "Brushes" select any different style from "Styles" select any style press ctrl + z Expected: you see the previously selected Brush line style Is: the object gets invisible In history you see all 3 steps. Even if you switch between the steps the object stays invisible for the step "Set linestyle". Update: this doesn't happen with the document type "Print"
  3. The Affinity team think in a add a options for can use duotones (monotone, tritone) images? This is a missing great feature needed for print designs in a few separate spot colors. The color mode right now can't be used in Affinity Designer or Affinity Photo. I wait for you help.
  4. I would like to know what is the 'best work flow practice' to adopt for any average image or an image, which needs very little post production. I want to take this so-called 'average image' and crop it to a finial print size of 12in x 8in. Then I'd like to send it off to an online printer ( DS colour labs/photobox etc; etc;) in a jpeg format, & using/ indicating the same paper that they the online printers will print on & ideally… I would also like to include a 12mm White or Black border all around the finial average image. I have watched some AP tutorials but nothing appears to cover what is the best practice from the very beginning right through to the end and, I'm not sure whether I should start off with a 12 x 8 canvas size or just the image itself. Hopefully someone will be able to help as at the moment I cannot seem to get the correct sizing nor the information for the printing set up correctly.
  5. Add options in the print dialog to set the size of the output image and the margins.
  6. I need to print a variety of cards – greeting cards, for example, photo cards, postcards, etc. I'm really struggling to get decent results with Photoshop. There simply aren't enough printing options. Placement becomes guesswork. Printing from PDFs in Preview also isn't working well. I'm exploring different options. I'm considering buying Affinity Designer in hopes that it will make this job simpler – and not just for printing, but also fill in the areas where I need Illustrator but resort to PS. Sadly I let my Designer trial lapse before investigating this myself. Presuming that my trial can't be extended for a day or two, can users please share screenshots and other information on the type of layout and printing options I would get with Affinity? Is it a good option for me? Do you have other recommendations? I'm on a mac running latest OS. Many thanks!
  7. Hi, I bought an iPad Pro as my only device for photography. Affinity Photo is great but lacks one very important feature, to be a full replacement of Windows machine. If it would be possible, to fully support Canon imagePROGRAF printer line? I have a PRO1000 - and on Windows I have full of options to edit before I'd like to print my ideal photo. Unfortunately, on iPad Pro I can only choose paper size and a few predefined types of paper. I think it would be great for professionals to support those printers in Affinity.
  8. Hi I need to be able to change the dpi/print size of an image. The pixel size is fine, it's just that if you import a 4000x3000 pixel image into QuarkXPress and that file is in 72 dpi the print size will be 141 x 106 cm and Quark will only allow you to scale it down to 10% which will still be too large to fit on the page. Maybe you can already do this, but I can't seem to find any way of doing it. So for now I am "stuck with" CC 2014. Best regards Geir Rosset Publisher Oslo Norway
  9. Hello, here is a link to my website, where I show some book cover designs (Print, ebook). All are created with aPhoto and aDesigner. For me, there are no better apps for this job. http://dein-buchcover.de/portfolio.html Looking forward to any feedback, thank you ;-)
  10. I've got another request: Please implement a function to print the keyboard shortcuts. That's especially useful for people who like to customize their keyboard shortcuts. I know I can always look them up in the menu but if we had a possibility to print a list we could simply put the printed list somewhere, e.g. on the wall behind the monitor. That's far more intuitive than having to look the shortcuts up every time we don't remember a specific one. Another solution would be to store the keyboard shortcuts as plain text file, this way we could simply open the file in any text editor and print the list.
  11. I have recently bought Affinity Photo and am disappointed that the Print Studio feature in the old Photo Plus is no longer available. What has replaced it?
  12. Long time Illustrator user trialing Designer. Enjoying what I'm seeing so far. :) In Illustrator you could export all Artboards as individual PNG/JPG/BMP files. Can, or will, Designer do this?
  13. Hello, i have a little problem. I came here from adobe illustrator and I have the problem with export for printing. I wanna have pdf with print marks and graphic fill all the paper, not just resize by print marks.
  14. The more I use this software the more I like it!! :D One silly thing - you can create multiple art boards but you can only print them one by one? The PDF workaround is ok but.... I can see how printing all art boards to one page would work for very small illustration comps but not for simply printing out A4 or letter size concepts to present.
  15. I don't know much about color formats and color profiles, so I could use some help. I have a project that I plan to get professionally printed. However, I tried printing on my home printer as well as FedEx Office and the colors are drastically different from my monitor (Dell UltraSharp U3415W PXF9 34" Curved LED-Lit Monitor). When printed, my purple looks like blue, and my light gray looks dark, etc. I have my document setup as Print-ready with CMYK/8 and all my colors have been created using the CMYK slider. This has been the case since I first started this document. So, I have a couple questions: 1. Am I doing something wrong? 2. What is a color profile? 3. How do I prevent this from happening when I get it professionally printed? (I think they want PDF, but may accept other formats) Thank you in advance! I attached a couple images of my Document Setup and CMYK Slider.
  16. I've the following problem: I just wanted to make a simple "symbol" with a frame (with a little bit bigger black contour 1pt) and 4 lines inside, somehow grey (and a little bit thinner 0.3pt). I could manage to design it quite fast (using a rectangle and 4 lines - using the Pen tool), but when printed, I had to find out, that the inner lines are somehow pixelated, when I use opacy or any kind of grey color for the contours. The black one is fine (see attached pic). I'm new to Affinity Designer, so I hope, it's just a problem because I did something wrong. Anyone any idea - what's the problem? By the way, the printer is not the problem. I checked it with other programs. There it works well. Test.afdesign
  17. Currently having trouble exporting a compatible 3 x 20 ft banner to the print department at Staples. Not sure exactly what settings are necessary to produce a file that will show up on their computers even for preview purposes. I can see a preview on my mac, but on their PCs the files show up as blank. I've included the file in case it helps anyone to provide an explanation. I assume I have the wrong settings, but am also concerned if the size of the file is causing this problem. I appreciate your help! Bobbys Sign Red Checkered.afdesign
  18. I have a 27" iMac and have calibrated my screen using a ColorMunki Display. I'm using the latest released version of Affinity Photo. I recently printed out some pictures (exported as JPEG from AP - File -> Export...) at my local Costco and got a batch of unusable prints - pictures were less saturated, cooler temperature and much darker - lots of crushed blacks - than what I expected. I understand that a picture on the monitor and in print are going to be different, but this difference was more than that. I got the ICC profile for their printer and tried to use the softproof adjustment layer to see how the picture looked on screen compared to the print out. There was a noticeable change when I selected the correct ICC profile in the window, but not at all close to the printout. This option will not allow me to make a decision to print or not based on the way it works right now. Next, I used "Document -> Apply ICC..." to load the same ICC file (softproof layer deleted) and this made the display match the printout very, very closely. Not quite bang on, but enough for me to know I was in the vicinity of what I'd see when printing out. My question is this - what is the difference between Apply ICC and Softproof "adjustment" layer? Should the Softproof adjustment layer allow me to work, say in sRGB, and then toggle it on and off to mimic applying ICC to the document?
  19. HI Can I print all artboards as separeted pages? I know how to print all artboard on one page and each separately. How to print all the artboards at the same time as separated pages?
  20. Hi, I "found" Affinity this weekend....Great tool !! Illustrator no longer needed Right now making some new user interface designs for a new application I only miss 1 function , and probably I overlooked it I want to export my designs, in such a way that the values of all spaces, sizes etc are given along with the design so that the developers can implement the design pixelperfect in illustrator you have such an option but i havent found it yet in affinity if needed i can mail an example how it looks like in illustrator i hope it is there and i just overlooked it thanks for all the good work reinoud
  21. Hi I have used PhotoPlus for many years. Affinity is a great piece of software but in PhotoPlus you had 3 printing modes. Single image Print Layout Contact sheet....They seem to be missing in Affinity it only has single image. The contact sheet is fantastic for placing a number of different sized images on to 1 sheet of A4. Adobe Photoshop does not have this feature which made Serif software so easy to use. Without it it is very tedious to make a contact sheet. Could it be included in Affinity?
  22. I am using the trial version of Affinity Designer and am trying to figure out printing options. I've read through Help topics and came across this hoping for a solution: To print a selected artboard: From the File menu, select Print. (Optional) In the Print dialog, click Show Details to access advanced printing options. Adjust the settings in the dialog. Click Print. To print an individual artboard:From the File menu, select Print. In the Print dialog, click Show Details. Ensure Scaling and Artboards is selected from the pop-up menu below the Orientation setting. From the Artboards pop-up menu, select a named artboard. Adjust the settings in the dialog. Click Print. However, I don't see "Show Details." Any suggestions? Carl
  23. Hi, Because of the lack of a powerful printing module, I'd like to suggest one for the Export Persona. I think it would fit into the idea and concept of the Export Persona, because printing is also a kind of an export. In this case, export to a real paper/canvas. What do you think about? Thanks and Cheers!
  24. Last December me and two colleagues were featured in a newspaper article about calligraphers, type designers and letterers in our town (Florianópolis, Brazil). The editor also invited us to create the cover for the art supplement. Each of us took a word of the title and did it according to our speciality. Then, I've assembled the three contributions in Affinity Photo. Here's a machine translation of my blog post detailing the process: https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&u=http%3A//www.ivanjeronimo.com.br/essays/2017/01/com-capa-coletiva-jornal-destaca-mercado-das-letras-em-florianopolis/
  25. Hi, a simple question. How can I specify in the print selection "Prints top left without border"? Printing is always in the middle of the paper. Printer is Canon i9950 (A3+). Other SW work ok. I have not found a choice in the print menu. Is certainly very easy, but I do not find it - synonymous not in the video. Example of what I mean. Is from faststone Thanks Dieter
