  1. Hi, I am using Affinity Designer on iPad Pro 12.9 inch (2018.10) + Apple Pencil 2, both iOS and the app are up to date, for some reason the vector brush tool won't work with pressure sensitivity. It's always fixed width no matter which brush I selected, and when I tried to adjust the pressure by dragging the pressure handles, it always came back to default settings. Could anyone help me with this issue? Thanks! O.
  2. Hello! Affinity Photo is a really good software (except for the constant crashes). But it still lacks a simple basic and very important feature: BRUSH OPACITY CONTROLLED BY PRESSURE. If this option is somewhere hidden, please tell me. Oh and I don't accept that using pressure for the "Flow" option is an alternative. Common guys, many simple and free softwares have this: Krita, Gimp, Blender, or simple and cheap softwares like Artrage. I know this software is not made for digital painting, but I don't use it for that. I use it for render post processing, which is the same as phothography editing. And opacity pressure is very important to softly change masks, to add a bit of overlay or color dodge. So, (maybe someone already made this request) my suggestion is to simply add an opacity pressure button, just like the one Photo already has to control brush size, right beside it.
  3. Hello, I am new to Affinity (switched from Adobe). Currently I am having issues with vector brush tool in Designer. Is there an option to somehow get rid of this weird looking lines (dots)? This does not happen when i try longer lines a draw them quicker, but when i want to be more precise it is quite annoying. I am using wacom tablet (CTL-671) with up to date driver and working on windows 10. I tried different tablet settings and still not happy with the result. Not sure if this is a bug or just an imperfection of software. If its the software problem, I think some "auto-smooth" of this pressure curve could work nice. I can't fix every single brush stroke manually. I hope you get my problem and thanks for replying.
  4. So I was wondering if there was an option to make a pencil fade into transparency with less pressure in Affinty Photo or if any of you know or made such pencils that I could download? I really need that since I can't really draw without it and it's killing me
  5. Hi, I was wondering if it's possible to use pressure and tilt simultaneously for controlling brush size? I currently have set up my brush to use tilt for controlling the size, and when I need pressure I turn on the 'force pressure' button, that way I can switch back and forth. However, in Procreate it is possible to use pressure and tilt simultaneously for controlling brush size, so was wondering if Affinity could as well? If not, is there possibly a shortcut or gesture that can be set up for the 'force pressure' button? Louis
  6. hi, I just got Affinity Designer and couldn't find a way to use the pen pressure tried with the 3 settings on the Tablet input method with no success any ideas of how can I make it work?
  7. I am using an XP-Pen Deco01 (V01) graphic tablet, which has been working perfectly for me with basically any app. I already updated the driver, and it didn't solve the problem. So my problem is that I can't get the stylus pressure to work in any of the tools in Affinity Designer. It's like the software doesn't even see my stylus as a pen, it works exactly the same as a mouse. I tried disabling using Windows Ink, but then it didn't even see my tablet at all. Actually I'm very new to the software, but I tried to play around with brush settings, searched a few tutorials, but nothing seems to work. Any ideas what can be wrong and how to fix it?
  8. Please add a force pressure to control opacity button besides the one that controls size. I just switch from photoshop and I really miss that button since I use it a lot.
  9. When using the vector brush and trying to adjust the pressure curve the stroke doesn't respond. I had the same issue earlier when using Affinity Designer on my iPad. Only after reassigning the brush to the stroke through the Brushes panel was I able to edit the pressure curve. Please see the attached video for example. Edit: I forgot to add that the brush was unresponsive to pressure applied while drawing the stroke with a pen tablet. brush-pressure.mov
  10. Hola, de repente el programa ha dejado de detectar la presion del lapiz de mi Yiynova . ---Hello, suddenly the program has stopped detecting the pressure of my Yiynova pencil.---- No ocurre en clip studio. ---- It does not happen in clip studio. --- Ni con el controlador. ----- Or the controller.---- ¿como puedo solucionar este grave problema? ---- How can I solve this serious problem?
  11. Hi, I'm new to Affinity, however, I've been using Adobe creative suite for years. I am having trouble with tapering brush ends. I've tried using the preset brushes, I've also tried altering the pressure, etc with no success. What am I doing wrong? I'm also experiencing problems expanding strokes, it doesn't seem to be doing anything. Any suggestions or good tutorials?
  12. I notice it is possible to have the size of the brush controlled by pressure, and the opacity controlled by velocity with a brush in the Pixel Persona in Affinity Designer. However, I cannot seem to do this with the Vector Brush tool. Am I missing something? In the Vector Brush options, it will allow me to change from pressure to velocity but it changes for both opacity and size.
  13. First of all – photo doesn't remember tools settings, as pressure control is always off on startup and you need to turn it on every time you open Photo. Second – it seems Photo has a really hard time with pen pressure, especially when dealing with very light strokes. The line width doesn't change smoothly between values as it is expected to work. I think image explains it better than thousand words: Both pictures were drawn with my XP Pen Artist 12". On both the Brush size is set to 10px. Both brushes have hardness set to 100% with brush size controlled by pen pressure and nothing more (no flow dynamics etc.) yet on Photoshop brush strokes are much smoother and natural looking. I tried to compensate it with accumulation and hardness dynamic, but nothing seems to help. What's the point of having so detailed dynamic options if in the end you can't even have a smooth looking brush? I think this feature still needs a lot of work.
  14. I'd love to see a set of basic stroke pressure presets, with associated thumbnail icons. ie. Flat, 100% - 0, 0 - 100%, Centre-peak etc. I find myself so often wanting a simple stroke pressure style and having to recreate it every time. I guess I could make them myself and save them, but they wouldn't have easy-to-use icons I can just click.
  15. Hi! I've just installed the trial for the desktop Affinity Designer to give the software and vector drawing a try but I'm experiencing issues with pressure sensitivity. I'm on OSX Mojave, Affinity 1.6.5, using an XP-Pen tablet. The pressure sensitivity setting is turned on, and the pressure works fine in other applications (AI, PS, etc.). Some oddities are once the Pressure controller is turned on, the size of the brush drops down to its default smallest size but None changes it to the set default size (e.g. 32px). I thought perhaps I wasn't pressing hard enough so I went to the highest size but it made no difference. Lastly, it creates strange patterns if I continue to hold the drawing for a moment at the start of the stroke, which you can see in the attached image. I've tried relaunching, and restarting. Any ideas? So far, this is a bummer to start but I'm hoping it can be fixed. Thanks!
  16. I’m having trouble adjusting the pressure of my vector lines in Affinity Designer on iOS. It seems that whatever brush I first use to lay the line down needs to be temporarily switched to different vector brush and then switched back to my original brush before it will allow me to adjust the pressure. In my attached clip, I used the basic vector brush, but I’ve tried a handful of brushes from a handful of vendors and the behavior is the same. I have to ink, change the brush, and then change it back. For each line, it’s pretty rough. Can’t seem to find if there’s something under the hood I’m missing, or if this is expected behavior. (Thanks in advance, all.) E45911A8-D131-4BE5-AD98-9268E716A1CC.MOV
  17. I just tried affinity designer today and very disappointed by its brush. First it has no "soft" brush. Even if I set the hardness to zero it's still hard compared other software say ps. it got harder when I toggled on the accumulation pressure. Second, I found the pressure level is not high enough. The stroke I created in ps has a smoother gradients. The stroke had 80 levels of black and white but the stroke in affinity had only 60 so to speak. Did I miss some setting? how to solve these problems?
  18. Hello guys, I would like to ask you, if there is any possibility how to set pressure of the brush while using pen tool? not just the same widht brush. thank you
  19. I downloaded the trial yesterday, and while the tablet works fine with photosop, krita and illustrator, Affinity designer does not response to pressure changes AT ALL. I tried reinstalling the drivers, changing the brushes, fiddling with the setting, rebooting, and nothing seem to work. OS: Windows 10 x64 build 1607 desktop Tablet: Huion 1060P (new 8192)
  20. Currently every time I start a new document I have to set the Pressure Controller for a brush manually. Would like to be able to set it as a default either in the Tools preferences or in Edit > Defaults > Save as Default.
  21. In my humble opinion, the pressure control in AD is too simplistic. I suggest the developer to implement something like this. If you worry about cluttered UI, you can hide it behind an "advanced" button. Or set it like grid and guide manager. In the right, there should be a list of mathematical function (like the brush pressure editing) and save profile. This is just a suggestion, the developer of course know better and i believe they could expand on this better. .
  22. I've been using both Affinity Photo and Designer for a few years now, both with an old WACOM bamboo create which has served me pretty well (no outstanding issues whatsoever!), but I just got a brand new 2048 sensitive tablet as a gift (Adesso Cyber Tablet T12), and I've been having a hell of a time trying to figure out what is going wrong with the sensitivity settings in Photo. I've gone through the Tablet driver settings (all the most recent) and the sensitivity is definitely working on the Tablet itself, but despite updating everything to the most recent versions for both my computer and Photo, the pen just doesn't register the pressure sensitivity properly. While it does register pressure, it's so weak that I have to legitimately push down to get any lines out of a brush with pressure turned on, despite the sensitivity being turned on to maximum through the driver set up. Non pressure sensitive brushes draw and track fine, and I can lightly tap to select menu items without any issues, but for some reason the brushes themselves just will not work properly. And this is the same with Affinity default brushes as well as custom Photo and Photoshop brushes. I've gone through everything to try and find a way to boost sensitivity to the brushes, but I haven't found anything. Is this a hardware-to-software issue I'm just going to have to hope gets solved at some point, or is there anything I'm missing that would help?
  23. As per title: a line can be either solid with a pressure profile, or dashed, but not both. See this thread for discussion and my current workaround, but it is less than ideal. Thanks.
  24. Lots of times when I break a curve then play with the stroke pressure profile to widen or shrink the stroke widths... it would be super cool to have a quick flip feature to just switch the profile width direction, instead of doing it manually. Currently we have a "save profile" and "reset" button and there is still room in the centre for a "flip" button or the even repurposing the existing icon from the tool shelf could work here, see attached. :-)
