  1. I would like to use Publisher for creating slides for importing into PowerPoint, but I have not found a workflow that works for this. I had hoped that exporting to high-quality digital PDF would be the key, but alas, it did not work. Has anyone found a workflow that work? Not only does Publisher make so much easier to make consistent layouts and generate multiple pages using AutoFlow, it also makes it trivial to have page numbers based upon sections.
  2. So recently I was so happy to see that the EMF imports (ungroup/convert) were working nicely. But then, last night I hit the issue again. Before anyone suggests SVG (which I would love if it was a 100% solution), SVG's can't be ungrouped/broken down in a way that it could be edited in PowerPoint. I supply my client with nicely designed slides which they want the ability to get their teeth into (half destroying all that nice design work in the process) and edit things. Colours and text, and unfortunately that's where PowerPoint just isn't SVG friendly. Now since Microsoft isn't really this company to listen to requests for such specific updates (I pray one of their tech's reads this one day and they build better SVG support) I wanted to ask the Affinity Designer team if they could look into the EMF/WMF export issues, I know this is a very old format but for going to any Office packages it's still the standard for now. It's not a new thing to be pointed out, and I don't think it's a huge part of the customer base that needs this, but could it please go on a todo list some place as a low priority request? Thanks so much for the incredible work so far on the app, so far in such a short time is really an achievement.
  3. Thanks! I have no idea what was changed, but the SVG's into PowerPoint crashed when you ungrouped/converted them. Now, it's working perfectly. This is really helpful team, I know we all cringe at PowerPoint but clients use it a lot and this little fix makes my work so much better (so much that I wanted to thank the Affinity team for fixing what ever MS was not getting right). I mean, PowerPoint has no meaningful drawing ability, so a custom shape in Designer can really make a huge difference in quality.
  4. I have recently completed the Udemy course "Affinity Designer, Solid Foundations" by Simon Foster. Thoroughly enjoyed it (17.5 hours of video!). In one section, Simon used the scenario of proposing a presentation to a client using artboards, symbols, Simon has 30 years experience as a professional designer, and it shows. The course starts with basics, but leads on to more advanced workflows The section on Presentations works well so far as it goes. But if you map the ideas on to PowerPoint, then it misses a few tricks which are nothing to do with Affinity Designer. So could it be developed? And if so, would it then be a useful tool for creating PowerPoint presentations? The presentation below sets out this opportunity, which I am pleased to say I have discussed with Simon, though the words used are entirely mine. Sample artboards can be downloaded - see notes below video. It is more of an exploration than a tutorial. (There are notes with timings for the topics covered after the You Tube posting. Some relate to Affinity features that gave a few problems)
  5. Hi, Could you add feature to export Affinity Publishers sheets to Microsoft Powerpoint, this feature will really helps!!! Thank you,
  6. Hello, can you creater an export format to slide soft (keynote, powerpoint). I create a best pdf with publisher but i want to anime my vector in keynote and transition for my courses. Thank you
  7. I wish I didn't have to write this but I'm a designer in a consultancy firm, and I'm often asked to produce work in the abomination that is Powerpoint (due to client insistence on retaining editabilty with their software). Sometimes I'm even asked to make 'print-ready' PPT files - don't ask! Nothing would make me happier than to be able to produce the design with all the great tools in Publisher, and then export to an editable .PPT file at the end. I imagine a few things would be needed to make this work - blend modes seem like a big one, so background images would probably have to get layer-merged, and it would presumably be RGB-only, but just having proper align/distribute tools would make my life a much happier place One additional benefit is that the consultants here are forever complaining about the enormous file-sizes that Powerpoint decks and their outputted PDFs come to - it seems it doesn't have a good image compression system. I bet Affinity's compression could do a far smarter job. I'm sure I could sell a whole bunch of licenses here if this functionality could be built, and in other companies I know, so hopefully it will be of interest. I wonder if anyone else on the forum has this need? P.S. Great work on all your software team!
  8. Hi, I was looking at the thread about the requested features for next versions. In the output formats I saw that the WMF/EMF format is missing. This is crucial in my workflow as most of my graphics are for MS Powerpoint and some other apps that use this format. In the meantime I have to go back and keep working with Inkscape to be able to export to this format, which breaks my workflow and adds a lot of extra work. Please, consider this format in the export options. Even if Powerpoint is a MS product consider that is widely use in Mac system. Thanks.
  9. Hi, what is the recommended way to import a powerpoint slide layout? I have got a poster that was done with powerpoint and I want to switch to Affinity Designer now without starting from scratch... Any ideas? Stefan
  10. AFFINITY PUBLISHER & DIGITAL PUBLICATIONS "Affinity Publisher will be crafted to help professional designers get the very best results on every layout, page, magazine, book, and digital publication, with stunning typography and vibrant colour." I don't know if this is jumping the gun but... As a user of PagePlus, Quark Xpress, and InDesign I can tell you that PagePlus is up there when it comes to paper-based publishing. However, PagePlus has always fallen short in the area of digital publishing. The audio and video players embedded in PDF files looked really bad in comparison to InDesign produced PDF files with audio and video files embedded within. InDesign one is able to output to Flash (at least when I was using version 5 of the Adobe Suite). Sure, Flash is dead. One of the attributes that I would like within Affinity Publisher would be to create beautiful, elegant looking PDF files with audio and video embedded. The HTML5 Another attribute would be to export to HTML5... Here I envisage web-like pages that can include PowerPointesque slideshows; magazine style web pages and so on. I would imagine that HTML5 could create and include some nice transitions between pages/slides. EPUB Oh! Yes! When it came to EPublications, PagePlus was abysmal. I would want the EPUB capabilities to produce excellent and consistent results each and every time. MOBILE APPS & EXES I would also like Affinity Publisher to produces APKs for Android and the equivalent for iOS apps. I would imagine that this can be achieved by using a combination of HTML5 and Java. NO WEBPLUS EQUIVALENT??? I think it was Alfred who stated that there will be no WebPlus equivalent in the Affinity range and that web page production will not be supported in the forthcoming Affinity Publisher. Is that correct? That would be a terrible shame as WebPlus is such a decent web design application. Affinity Publisher, in theory, could pick up the web design slack. I always appreciated that PagePlus could output pages to HTML. As you can tell from the above text that I am hoping that Affinity Publisher would feature HTML5 output. I do think that web pages and web design are evolving into what I would call "Channels" whereby the web page is looking pretty much like a TV channel - especially now that video has become a major part of the web. I reckon that a "Channel" approach to web pages produced with Affinity Publisher may be the way to go. Well, that's my 2 cents worth! Oh, did I say that I am very curious about Affinity Publisher?
