  1. Hello, I am working on a poster for a school project using Affinity Designer. I am trying to export it to PDF but I keep getting the following error message: An error occurred while exporting to: /Users/Michael/Desktop/GEOL429_poster-II copy.pdf I've searched the forum for similar issues but I couldn't find any (or I'm terrible at searching). It's probably the largest file I've worked with (dimension-wise) at 1.5 m x 0.9 m, which is probably why it's not exporting. But I made one back in December at 0.9 x 0.6 m that was almost certainly a larger file due to using more graphical content. I was wondering if anybody had run into this problem before or had any possible solutions? I have trouble believing that Affinity Designer is not capable of this task (since it rocks at everything else). Thanks for any ideas.
  2. After playing with the TARDIS acronym, I developed a magic square style layout with the word TARDIS written bidirectionally on the outside of the square. Then using Affinity Publisher I created a table with eh letters written into each cell. I chose an illustrated caps font and saved the finished product as an SVG. This I later imported into Publisher and using an upscaled image of a wormhole from Pixabay as a background, I placed the word square with a white square behind it onto the page. I added a shadow to the white square and ran the auto levels on the background in studio link Photo persona. This was done on an A0 size document. Rotating the square slightly in an anticlockwise fashion seemed to give it a subtle artistic flair. Then using the rescale option in Publisher I created subsequently smaller versions A1, A2 and A3. The resultant landscape poster is shown in JPG form. This is A3 size. This reduced viewed version created in Photo. I would definitely have this on my wall. I have ordered the A2 poster version from Vistaprint. Looking forward to seeing the final product. This has a new logo to avoid breaching any BBC logo creation rules.
  3. Another of my occasional movie posters. This one took a bit of redrafting (and rewatching) before it came together.
  4. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to make a poster similar to Obama's "hope" poster. I've seen a a few tutorials done using photoshop but im reluctant to try those because i know i would get lost eventually trying to follow along on affinity photo. Anywho, does anyone have a good tutorial they could link me? Thank you. If there are none to be found then its ok. i just wanted to try it out. My Favorite learning tool so far have been youtube videos where i can follow along. thanks.
  5. Project Brush Thumbnails Partially created for my artstation account, I have been building thumbnail icons for each of the project sets. Using existing modified drawings whether vector or raster. The original size of each thumbnail was 400 x 400 mm.. Initially I created a Data Merge Template using a set of var{data} and spreadsheet image imports (wanted to see how easy it was to add AD files to Data Merge) On the back of that I created a A1 Poster in Publisher:
  6. I think I may be the only one using Affinity for my note-taking in school… Looks like a poster.
  7. Silent Ocean - Campaign (2018) While studying at SAE for my Bachelor of Design, I got the change to work on a social issue campaign around noise pollution in the ocean with the goal to make 10 posters around the campaign and ended up making 12 posters, 10 badges, art display piece, and a website. This project was amazing to work on allowing myself to break out of my "normal design style" and really allow me to just play around with mix design, merging vector, paper craft, images and 3D together to create something amazing Made with: Affinity Photo (Mac + iOS (iPad Pro) Affinity Designer Autodesk Maya (for 3D) "Click Here" to view the website. __ Need of a graphic designer? 8. The last client illustration project I worked on in 2020, and the first one I've posted in 2021 - had an absolute blast creating this! 👾 I used Affinity Designer (for plotting the initial layout and perspective guides), and Affinity Photo, with an XP-Pen tablet, for the drawing/painting, colouring, and finishing effects. There's a bit more insight into the process on my Bēhance if anyone's interested: https://www.behance.net/gallery/111102577/Pips-Meadery-Code Hope you guys like it! Stay safe out there, Christi. 🤙 http://www.instagram.com/christidutoit
  9. I've finally entered the world of creative advertising, by submitting my entry to The Chip Shop Awards for judging next spring. Not a cheap hobby. Being allowed to create something witty, close to the knuckle and quite apt is something I've wanted to do for a very long time. This is my entry. It is an ointment manufacturer, helping out the seasonal homeless down under, buy their product and they'll donate the proceeds to a charity. Of course it is full of puns, some of you know me well enough by now! Its called How can you sleep when the Bush is burning? Pungent: noun. a bloke with rotten jokes!🤢 The photo is from the web. The packaging was done this Spring in AD. The skewing, backlighting and montage was done in APh. Wish me luck. Peter (The Drum Chip Shop Awards celebrate pure, unadulterated creativity. It's a platform where anything and everything is allowed, an awards show with no rules and no boundaries meaning the possibilities are endless!) The prizes are not glossy statues or metallic masks: they are a resin bottle of vinegar and an oversized chip.
  10. Mucking about during Covid downtime. This is a combination of AD and Cinema 4D.
  11. Done in Affinity Photo with several stocks from DeviantArt, Pexels, Pixabay, Unsplash. Just to get better with Affinity Photo . Any suggestions or opinions can be welcomed.
  12. Browsing for something else, I came across a poster advertising Peugeot cycles, and I was inspired to have a go myself. After quite a few changes of colour and relative size, I finally settled for this: The original is A2 size, though I don't intend to print any copies. Here's a bigger (but not full size) crop: And here's the original tiger, which I made first. I dropped the orange markings for the poster, as the tiger clashed with the bike (and we have some gorgeous white tigers in the local zoo). Oh, and if you were wondering, Walsall is the English town I grew up in. It's not noted for its bikes, but is famous for its saddlery and leather goods, and lorinery, which is the metal bits and pieces in horse harness.
  13. Hello! My name is Mikołaj but you can call me Mik. I've been using affinity software since first release in 2014 for graphic design(any kind of user interface design and visual identity assets). Lately some idea popped in my head – I am using the same tools in the same way all the time, so to prevent some kind of stagnation I want to challenge myself to create different kind of artwork that I usually do. Goal: Creating artwork from scratch in a poster format using every tool that is available in the software. I invite you to enjoy this journey with me. 001
  14. Poor old Bob. He’s taking his comedy tour on the road but doesn’t know where he’s going. Two posters, both experimental ideas along the same lines, just for a bit of fun. Done in Designer and Photo (probably could have been done in either alone). The main image – which I (quickly) isolated from its background – can be found here: https://gratisography.com/photo/crazy-eyes/
  15. This was made completely in affinity photo without any plugins .Inspired from Magdiel Lopez Posters .
  16. Hi y'all -- I am trying to do in Affinity what I used to do in Photoshop using a "Photo Edges" filter -- to reduce and simplify an image into a set number of colors, in flat areas, in a way sort of like the Obama "Hope" poster but usually not in patriotic colors. Is there a filter like this under a different name in Affinity? I'm sorry to ask for a translation -- with software as complex as both Photoshop and Affinity, it's quite a learning curve.
  17. Can people make and use big formats like A1 and bigger in publisher?
  18. For all the people out there that love peak 70's high-camp Vincent Price horror movies. Yes, both of you.
  19. Hi everyone, I'm a French Affinity Designer fan and teacher. Here is my first English Tutorial : Poster Tutoriel with Ipad

  21. I encountered this problem and was able to track it down to an .ai file I had placed into the art. Removing that image and replacing it with a png worked like a charm.

  23. I want to create a design for a 11" X 17" printed poster. The design may also be used for smaller posters or flyers and at a website. Which Affinity program would be best to use and why?
