  1. I made some simple diagrams with text and lines. When I export a png or jpg the quality is bad (blurry). When I screenshot it with OS X, the quality is much better (and the file size is larger). How can I export from Affinity Designer and get a good quality png like a Mac screenshot? I don't want to export via screenshots for several reasons including that it's very hard to line it up to be pixel perfect. I found exporting to pdf does have great quality (very sharp text and lines) but sometimes I need an image file. I attached an example png export which is poor quality. It has blurring and jagged parts. Everything is completely sharp in Affinity Designer or with a PDF or screenshot. I'm looking at this on a 27" retina iMac.
  2. I have a PNG file with a transparent background which I use to overlay my images with my logo...when I open the PNG file, it opens with a white background...How do I open the file and maintain transparency.
  3. Quick question guys (thanks in advance), to a very elementary question. I've done this before but can't figure what I'm missing to perform it again. I'm simply trying to make the artboard background invisible (screenshot below) but need the logo image to be white (I made it gray so you could see it in the screenshot). I can't remember how to get rid of the background! feeling like a dork, appreciate your help, -Christo
  4. I'm creating images for a mobile app and trying to downsize and export using the export persona. When I export to PNG-24 and PNG-8, the exported files display a transparent border. This is a big problem, because we now have gaps between the photo and surrounding items. I've attached a screen shot to show the exported file (top) and the file pre-export (bottom) inside an affinity file. Please help!
  5. hi, tried to make a batch conversion from .exr to png but when i try to add multiple files (more than 1) affinity 1.52.69 and newest beta 1.6.0.71 instantly crash it works when i add the files one by one - but thats kinda annoying... for 600 files... unhandled exeption on beta 0xE06D7363 also sent crash reports hope you can fix that soon though as i need it for job today i guess not that soon... thanks in advance
  6. I'm new to affinity photo (using windows version). I'm trying to take a png logo file with transparent background and save it as a much smaller file ~ 159 x 55 px When I do this with gif or png8 it looks terrible (upload of export attached). I'm sure I'm doing something wrong but not sure what. Any suggestions on settings? I'm trying to keep the file as small as possible which is why I'm not doing png-24 although that looks fine. Thanks in advance.
  7. Is there a way to export all artboards as pngs...without having to save each one at a time?
  8. Twice now I've run into an issue where trying to export a png with Affinity Designer results in a posterized reduction of colors, and I cannot find a setting to avoid this. In my current piece, it resulted in obvious banding of the gradients, and the reflected light being lost entirely. However, if I save the file as psd, then open that in Clip Studio Paint and save as png there, I get accurate colors and no banding. The first file is the png as saved from AD, the second is the png from CSP, and the third is the original afd so you can check and see if there's anything weird about it. Brightmoon 8-ball.afdesign Is there something I'm missing on export to prevent this issue, or is it a bug? Also, I've tried copy-pasting layer styles a few times, but it's prone to changing the values on paste--generally about double or half (i.e., 7px gaussian blur becomes 13.8px). Is there a way to prevent that, as well?
  9. Hi Team, I have faced an issue when I put downloaded SVG icons in affinity designer. When I export out the designed vector file as a SVG using the affinity's built in export settings the downloaded SVG icons gets converted into raster images. I have attached a file which reflects my problem. What should I do? 10-careers.svg
  10. Long time Illustrator user trialing Designer. Enjoying what I'm seeing so far. :) In Illustrator you could export all Artboards as individual PNG/JPG/BMP files. Can, or will, Designer do this?
  11. Hi, My export files seems like they have jpeg compression, they are not sharp. First I tought it was Instagram who did extra compression or gmail. But the original files on the HD are not good. So something goes wrong with the export. It's vector fom Designer. And I need an export for web. What are the best PNG settings? are what's going wrong? Thnx.
  12. Is this normal? Why should the base filename for the PNG and SVG version be different? If I add PDF to the export format, it does not complain. I get the following message when I hover on the exclamation mark:
  13. Hi everyone, From my personal research I couldn't find anything with my problem. If i happened to overlook it, i'd appreciate a link! Having two issues, but they're related: Having problems with the color picker on affinity designer. In photo, color picker works fine. But in designer, it always picks a lighter color for some reason. Even when I get a hex code from my friend, and input it into designer, it always shows a much lighter color. Then when I export, previewing the image shows the same color as in designer (the lighter-than-original color). But when i import it into After Effects, it shows the original color (what the hex code is supposed to be). Or when I try to e-mail it, it shows as the original color as well. Not sure if it's a bug or a setting. But here's what I have in color profile: RBC Color profile: sRBG 32-bit RBG Color profile: SRBG CMYK Color profile: U.S. Web Coated Gray scale color profile: Grayscale D50 LAB color profile: CIELAB D50 Rendering intent: Perceptual I don't know any other way to adjust color settings in this program. But in my google search I can only find a few solutions for Illustrator, which is often to adjust the CMYK setting to RBG. But I don't see that kind of setting change in Designer so I'm not sure what the problem is. I don't recall making any adjustments to the settings, and I want to say I've never had this problem before the latest update (which i postponed until recently). Thanks for your help!
  14. Hello I am having this new issue where i am trying to export some icons. And the resulted icons are half the sizes. I have selected anything that should result in half the size. I used single png-24 for export. I have actually used this settings before. It was good. I exported icons of 80 x 80 px size. It was fine. Now when i export it's 40 px. Can any tell me what might be the issue?
  15. It would be great if we could import multiple (svg/eps/pdf/ai/png/jpg/gif/etc) files into the assets panel.
  16. Hi there, I usually solely work with sRGB IEC61966-2.1 but unfortunately the exports looked like crap, so I tried every installed ICC profile and realised that the profile that the exported picture looks alike is the Samsung Natural Color Pro. I thus checked all the settings, converted the ICC to sRGB again, set it manually in the exporter but it still didnt work - it kept exporting with the Samsung profile. In the end the only solution I could find was to convert to the Samsung profile and, additionally, set it manually in the exporter instead of using document profile. This does not seem to be a solution on the long term. Maybe someone else has made similar experiences and can confirm this bug. Many thanks!
  17. I am having some issues exporting PNGs from the SVGs in this pack from kenney.nl: http://kenney.nl/content/4-assets/41-platformer-art-deluxe/platformer-art-complete-pack-0.zip The SVG file in that pack is in the following location "Base pack/Vector/tiles.svg" An example of a properly exported PNG without weird gaps is here: "Base pack/Tiles/grassCenter.png" Please find the result when I export that part of the SVG attached, it has either white gaps or transparent gaps (this depends on the section of the SVG I try and export). I understand that there isn't any overlapping of the SVG paths and believe this might be the issue. Suggestions on how to workaround this issue would be much appreciated.
  18. I have a 14 page document with a few transparent PNGs. I also have some transparent PSDs which I've placed the same way. The transparent PNG images are not included in the exported PDF. I tried with File > Export... and with Export persona exporting slices. The only way I could get it to export to PDF with the transparent PNGs was to print to a PDF file. If the PNG is a child of another shape (i.e. to mask) it still isn't detected and is omitted from the PDF export. Version: 1.5.1
  19. I bought Affinity Photo and Designer and want to support a great competitor to Adobe. I have run into a problem .. I wonder if you can help? I have an original design in Adobe Illustrator format - attached. backprop_error_example2.ai I have an export to PNG from Adobe ... also attached. Then I have a PNG export from Affinity Designer after it loads the AI file - also attached. You can see that: the quality of the text rendering is not as good the colours are not accurate (see the big rectangular blocks) the brushes (object outlines) are not that accurately reflected, they are too "heavy / bold" When importing I made sure "favour editable text over fidelity" is NOT ticked. I want fidelity. Not sure what this actually dees. On export I selected Lanczos not bilinear to improve partially the rendering. Some have said elsewhere that text should be converted to curves .. which I don't really want to do .. but as a test I did. The image is attached. converting text to curves (Layer -> Convert to Curves) then exporting as PNG has no significant effect. Any ideas? Going forward I'd like to start new designs with Designer but unfortunately I have a legacy of AI files and I need their output to be consistent with previous exports. Thanks in advance.
  20. I'm having difficulty exporting a simple design as a PNG file & keeping the transparency that I want. The output files has a white solid non-tranparent background. Why is this? I was expecting it to be transparent & show up as a greyed out chequerboard. But it doesn't, I assume I have to check a box somewhere in the process, but can't find one that's relevant. Could someone point me in the right direction please.
  21. Hallo Everyone! I have stumbled over a bug that crashes Affinity Photo on my Mac (macOS Sierra 10.12.2). Whenever I try to open one of a set of PNG files it crashes immediately. I attached one of the PNG files. I was trying to do a composite photo. When it came to adding the speech bubble PNGs I couldn't continue. Sadly this was my first time using Affinity Photo since I bought it last week. Thanks to the excellent PSD export I was able to finish my image in time with a competitor's product (which opened the PNGs without a hitch). If you need more info, more of the PNGs, just tell me. I'm happy to help.
  22. Hello there, just bought Affinity Designer for Windows and was exporting some PNG test files. But the file sizes are 10 times larger or more compared to Adobe Illustrator for the same shape and size. I exported a simple 256 x 128 oval with a gradient (32bit png, Affinity Designer), that became 23.2kb same thing from Adobe Illustrator is only 2.80kb. I also tried a simple gradient at 1920 x 1080 from Affinity Designer that became a whopping 1.26 Megabyte while the same thing from Adobe Illustrator was a measly 10.5kb. Is the exporter bugged? Please note that the visual quality is indistinguishable between Affinity Designer and Adobe Illustrator(The better compression doesn't affect the visual quality). File sizes are vital to me as I am going to make art for Game Maker Studio and I need to save as much memory as I can. Thanks in advance.
  23. Hi there, I used Affinity Designer to create some ArtBoards with the same PNG Picture in the background. But when I crop the PNG even slightly, the export results (to PDF) vary in the colours. The cropped picture looks at least 20% desaturated or as if it were highly exposed. (I exported the ArtBoards via multiple choice under the same conditions.) When I change the Picture back to original size it exports seamlessly. Is this a bug? Many thanks in advance for answering :) I am relatively new to digital vector design and am currently using the trial version of AD on a MacBook Pro 2,3 Ghz, 16 GB RAM. I tested the program thoroughly and there are many features I like but some riddles I quite cannot understand (such as importing objects and text from one file to another which leads to various differences in resolution, object information etc) - but the missing reliability to transform pictures would be a no go for a professional design program.
