  1. Informations Operating system and version : Windows 10 Is hardware acceleration ON or OFF? ON, same problem occurs when OFF. Problem I export in PNG format an image that includes a color (Red) and transparency. To have the minimum size on disk, I would like to palletize the PNG. According to my specifications I need: - 2 colors in my PLTE chunk: - Red - Another color - The tRNS chunk to set the Other color to alpha 0, and the Red to alpha 255. Using the tools available on Affinity, it does not work correctly. Red color is not properly palletized It can be seen in detail in a tool like tweak-png: And in fact, If i change the red to alpha 255 with my original red in tweak-png, the image is well rendered. --- If I change the export with a palette of 4 colors the rendering is correct: But i want 2 colors, not additionnal useless color, and by the way there are three colors not four: Alternative solution ? I think it's the Automatic palette export option that does some weird calculations I saw that there was the possibility of put Custom palette option. But when I select it I can't export; I got the message : "Error occurred when exporting...<my_file>" Maybe it can be an alternative to what I want to do, maybe you know where to configure it ? Thank you for your help!
  2. When I export a document as a PDF, the PNG with transparent background has a slight different color than the rest of the total background when printing. When I look at the PDF on my desktop it all looks fine (see attached image 1) but as soon as I print it, you can see that the transparent part of the PNG has an other color than the layer below (see attached image 2). Does anyone know how I can fix this issue?
  3. In the Export Persona, when exporting an image for the web and you want the size as small as possible, you want to see a preview of what you will be exporting. So you can change the quality of a jpeg and see instantly what the result will be. The same when you change the number of colors in the palette of gifs and pngs. Also show the sizes in bytes of the slices you are exporting. The size is shown in the simple Export, but not in the more advanced Export Persona. Fireworks does this very well, it even has multiple previews with different export settings.
  4. I have a .afphoto file comprising a map of numbered plotland compartments as the bottom layer. For some of these compartments I have added larger numbers so that they can be readily found when refered to in the text. These have been merged into a pixel layer with a transparent background and comprise the top layer. The middle layer comprises a white background for each number that is slightly larger than the number so that it stands out against the bottom layer. I have then merged the three layers using Layer > Merge Visible and set the three lower layers to be invisible. If I export the .afphoto file as a .tiff, it is fine. However if I export as a .png, it only includes the numbers layer, no base map or white background. Here is the .afphoto file: Plotlands Map 300 196mm Numbers 3 layers.afphoto Here is the exported .png file: The only layer visible at the export stage is the merged layer. Here is the Layers Panel: Can anyone advise on this? I would prefer to export as .png, although I can manage with .tiff for now. John
  5. Hello all, I've been having a bit of a problem exporting and managing colours recently whilst some vector work. It's not something that I have encountered before, but after alot of searching, I cannot find a solution that fixes my particular problem. The rendered colour is not representative of the colour that is chosen in the colour picker. Above is a screenshot of an example. using the tool 'Sip' I can see that the colour is being rendered differently to that which I picked. Below is a screenshot of the same scenario but this time in Sketch and notice that I do not have the same problem. My document and export color profiles are set to sRGB as this is the default for web browsers. Any help on the above will be greatly appreciated.
  6. Hello Affinity members, I am creating assets for a game in Affinity Designer 1.7.3.481. For that I am using isometric 2:1 grid. In the editor everything looks fine. But after I export it, the resulting PNG has a strange outline or shadow around it. Please see picture attached. This is a 512x256 PNG, the outline is there no matter the export resolution. How do I get rid of this? It looks awful in the game. EDIT: I downloaded latest Affinity Designer version and the problem persists.
  7. Affinity photo constantly crushing while working on png blender files. When i sellect parts of the picture by lasso tool and use HSL especially. It appears in the way that after I sellect things and do manipulations with the colours it suddenly stack, i do can click options - my mouse works, but can't really choose them nor come back, I cannot save the file in cuurent stage as well nor recover it later, it is really frustrating. Also I have noticed a lot of problems with rendering my raw files from SA73, when I adding some layers, adjustments - more advanced works especially with sharpening parts of the photo, in the software itself picture looks fine, but when exporting to jpg there is a lot of gliches, some strange colour full squars appears everywere. When i repeat rendering into jpg, the gliches appears again but in different parts of the picture.
  8. Hello, I have a logo created in AI which I can open in Designer. I can also scale it up and down. I want to be able to save it as png with transparent background to be used on a website. Can’t seem to be able to do that. I go to File > Export & select PNG but transparent background is not an option. So basically I want to take a vector image and save it as a raster image with transparent background. Any help would be appreciated. Thx!
  9. Hello, 1mm is being added when I export to png. Is this is a bug or is there something I am doing wrong? Dimensions are meant to be 260mm x 300mm but are actually 260mm x 301mm. Any help would be appreciated.
  10. I've been using AD for about a week now and I must say I love. I have a couple of tools and personalization options I still miss from Illustrator and I'm hoping to see them in Affinity soon. One of these is the option to choose the background color of a PNG file upon exporting. Setting a background in any color is fast and easy while creating the content, but exporting an image with a transparent background is impossible. Or at least I haven't found the way to do it.
  11. When exporting PNGs of character assets I noticed that many of them have an ugly "halo" of bright pixels. In the example image I have the shape of the torso, within that shape I have pasted another shape for the shadow, which has it's layer mode set to multiply. It looks completely clean inside the Affinity editor, but ends up with the halo on export. I have tried different export settings, and formats, but all have the same result. A fix, or workaround would be much appreciated.
  12. Hello! Hope someone can help as I have tried so many different options and I'm losing the will to live - I'm at the point of resorting to MS Word! I've had a look at other posts on similar issues but haven't found a solution that works for me. I've just started working on a magazine for Work, when I export as a PDF our logo (.png file) on the cover has a messy grey outline around it - I've tired all sorts of PDF export options for resolution, compression, turning include layers off etc. and it makes no difference. I've just switched to Affinity Designer persona (whilst in Affinity Publisher) and exported the same document to PDF and the logo displays fine with no outline... This isn't the first time I've had this problem, when I was working on our Annual Impact Report I managed to export it once with the logo displaying fine. Unfortunately I needed to make changes to it whilst at the Office and not on my home PC and couldn't remember the exporting settings I'd used originally - I have yet to get this document to export to PDF without the outline, no matter what I do. Not even switching to the Affinity Designer persona helps. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? Happy to upload the file if that helps. Best wishes Claire
  13. Hi there, I was trying to batch process my blender rendered .exr files to png and even though the exr files are saved in RGBA, I cannot get them into png format with a transparent background. Regardless what I do, the backgorund is alsways black as one or more of the render layers in the exr shows a black background. I would only want the top view (RGBA) layer with the transparent background. How can I do that? Thanks so much for your help! Best, Hidari
  14. When exporting (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S) PNG from Affinity Photo , there are options to export the area as 1: whole document, 2:Selection with background 3:Selection without background. I make video game art and export selections of layers frequently as i work on them. So I'm glad i can export a selection of layers as PNG without a background, but i have to manually set the area to "selection without background" each time. Does anyone know if there is a way to change the default area of export PNG from "whole document" to one of the other options? Thanks inf advance!
  15. Ok so when i apply a alpha and save as .png all the color channel data in the area with alpha 0 is lost, is there a way to keep the other color channels intact or unaffected by the alpha channel?
  16. I made some simple diagrams with text and lines. When I export a png or jpg the quality is bad (blurry). When I screenshot it with OS X, the quality is much better (and the file size is larger). How can I export from Affinity Designer and get a good quality png like a Mac screenshot? I don't want to export via screenshots for several reasons including that it's very hard to line it up to be pixel perfect. I found exporting to pdf does have great quality (very sharp text and lines) but sometimes I need an image file. I attached an example png export which is poor quality. It has blurring and jagged parts. Everything is completely sharp in Affinity Designer or with a PDF or screenshot. I'm looking at this on a 27" retina iMac.
  17. I have a PNG image for a book cover, and need it to merge with the black tone of the background. But even though it is a PNG, and I would expect (in my ignorance) the image to merge with the background, you can see a grey box around the image. Is there a way to have the image sit on the background without the grey box showing? I could try changing the whole background to the same grey box color, but that's not my preference. I've upload all relevant files here. Thanks. M:M_AFF_test_1.afphoto
  18. I have a PNG file that is a monochrome skyline silhouette (see attached). I want to fill the grey buildings with another color. How do I do this? I have watched the tutorials but the Color Picker and Fill tools don't seem to do the job. I can do this easily in Irfanview, surely we should be able to do it in Designer. What am I missing?
  19. I'm just moving over from Photoshop Elements, so I've got Culture Shock, but I'm enjoying the process. I convert photographs to PNGs - a historic hangover from when I had trouble with support for CR2s. I notice that the PNGs produced by Affinity are noticeably darker than the PSE output, and darker than the CR2 originals, though I realise I can adjust everything. More importantly, the files are about 4 times the size - 95MB as opposed to 23MB. (These are created from a 26MB CR2 file.) I can see the case for storing the files uncompressed, to speed up processing, so is that what's happening, or have I missed something? I'm running Affinity Photo 1.7.1 on a MacBook Pro, reading CR2 files created by a Canon EOS 700D.
  20. Hello, recently I was extracting a logo from a white background in Affinity Photo 1.8.6 and imported it into the latest version of Final Cut Pro and noticed some noise around the edges. I thought at first I just didn't look close enough when I masked it, but when I exported with black in the background it looked clean. I attached an image that was blowup so the overall quality is not great, however I placed the keyed version on top and cropped it so you can see a side by comparison of what I'm talking about. The left side has the image with the background included in the PNG, the right side is keyed over the left image. As you can see, there is noise all around on the right side. I created the same masking in photoshop and it was clean. Has anyone had this issue?
  21. I have an icon in raster format. Icon is stored as .png or .jpg file. Icon is drawn with black or gray color on white background. HOW CAN I CHANGE THE ICON COLOR AND KEEP THE IMAGE QUALITY AS IT IS AND KEEP THE BACKGROUND WHITE AS IT IS ? I have installed Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer so solution can be in both of this software. Please see attached file - I would like to change the icon from dark gray to red - how can I do that ? Thank you !
  22. A recent video about removing backgrounds points out a web-based technology that would be outstanding if it could be licensed by and incorporated into Affinity Photo or available as a plug-in. The video link is below (screen shot is from the video). It would be very, very useful for images with complex foregrounds. https://youtu.be/_N5EIn90bWw
  23. Quick question guys (thanks in advance), to a very elementary question. I've done this before but can't figure what I'm missing to perform it again. I'm simply trying to make the artboard background invisible (screenshot below) but need the logo image to be white (I made it gray so you could see it in the screenshot). I can't remember how to get rid of the background! feeling like a dork, appreciate your help, -Christo
  24. If you export an image with 96 DPI as PNG, the PNG file has a wrong resolution, namely 96.01 DPI. This makes all my images unusable because I am a software developer and use the images in my software to display them in the GUI. I am dependent on the correct resolution. As long as the error is not fixed, I have to correct the resolution in a different program every time afterwards. This is very annoying.
  25. In reference to a thread about a deal-breaker-problem that still persists in over a year see: As >|< pointed out in this thread, "the current Affinity PNG exporter does not support variable opacity in an indexed-pallet image (commonly called PNG-8), hence the jagged edges." A professional webdesigner uses PNG's quite often. If possible SVG, but PNG is still (and probably will remain) needed for specific artwork that is both small in file size and has professional transparent edges. As most of the webdesigners, that use Adobe software, know that since the CC version their new PNG exporter is quite brilliant. It exports clean, sharp and small PNG-files in 8-bit with (near) perfect transparency. In my opinion, every webdesigner living and creating websites in 2018 and beyond, cannot have jagged edges OR large filesizes. And with Affinity you have to choose between these two. The only workaround is extra software, or something like TinyPNG, through which you have to pull/batch every exported PNG-24 file in order to recreate what Adobe can do with one click. The fact that you cannot export optimal PNG-8 files directly from the Affinity software, is a show-stopper. I think for every(!) webdesigner that wants to build good websites. The workaround is no viable option - it's too complicated, slow and (very) inefficient. There are quite some options in software, both offline and online that offer the same (or sometimes even slightly better) PNG-24 » PNG-8 conversions, so the technology is there. But for me personally, i cannot use any Affinity product now because the end result (the export) is un-usable and needs an extra conversion in order to be used on the web. This problem should be fixed as soon as possible, because i think that the effective (and professional) user-base of Affinity might double. Why? Because now only fotographers of graphic-designers can use Affinity in day-to-day use. I don't believe that way more webdesigners will join Affinity, IF the PNG exporter gets improved to a professional standard. Hope to see this get implemented » then i most probably will start using Affinity!
