  1. HI, Ok here are the specs of my document : resolution : 5000px x 3000px resolution of my design : 2335px x 2394.7px dpi : 300 vector base design When I am at 100% zoom or more, everything is smooth and clean. When I zoom in, starting at 90% and below, it's start to get pixelated. Also, when I export my image in its actual size as a PNG, for example, everything look fine. But if I export it at 500px x 300px it sucks big time! I even tried exporting it at 2500px x 1500px and it's still pixelated. How can I make sure that my design doesn't get pixelated?
  2. Hello, I've recently installed Affinity Designer on my MacBook Air (M1 Chip). It seems to be choppy/slow down/lag when I load EPS files, or vector files that are larger than 5 MB. Any ideas as to what's going on & what I can do to resolve this issue? Thanks
  3. I updated to 1.9.2 today. I have frozen 3 times and then there is this... Any idea what's going on?
  4. I’m making a variety of small images for the web (320x50px for instance) and am struggling to figure out the best way to get crisp text at those sizes. I’m using Designer on the iPad to create them, but they need to be delivered as png or jpg. Obviously everything is fine as vector inside of Designer, but what is the best way to export those designs to keep them from getting too pixelated? I’m sure they’ll lose some crispness no matter what I do, but I’m hoping to keep the quality as high as I can. I do also have Photo if that’s helpful.
  5. Hi there Thanks for receiving me in the group, I'm new to Affinity and photography Here's my issue, if I have one... I've uploaded a couple of pictures to Affinity both jpeg and raw and when magnified they look extremely pixelated, unlike in the normal photo viewer from Windows. 4500 by 6700 pixels should be high quality photos, Please find attached the pictures to review, thanks a lot CU2A5420.CR2
  6. There is a long and old thread on this topic already, but I'm not convinced its been getting any attention, so I'm starting a new topic because this problem is infuriating. 2020, and still having the same blurry images problem. There is something weird about the way Affinity is handling pixels. I don't know how to explain this, but when you use different resolutions in photoshop the zoom ratios when working with the image are different-100% at 300 dpi is way bigger than 100% at 72 dpi. When you do it in Affinity they are all the same across the board. 300 dpi looks the same as 72 dpi. Its
  7. Hi, I would like to report that, when I place text over an image, the text is pixalated. Not sure why?
  8. Hello. I'm attempting to upload art made in Affinity Designer to Teespring. I export as a PNG, Resample: Bilinear and don't resize the image larger when creating my listing. After creating the listing, the preview looks pixelated. Other shops don't have this pixelation problem on their product pages. I'm concerned about the quality of the shirt. Their design tips say to turn off anti-aliasing in Illustrator. Can I achieve a similar result in Designer to prevent pixilation of a printed product? I see an export option for nearest neighbor but I don't fully understand this or if it will allow my
  9. My brush strokes & brushes in Affinity Designer/Photo always have ragged/pixelated/AA-artifacts no matter the resolution of the document. I have made sure I am using the Brush tool and not the pixel brush tool. The same problem consists whether I toggle Windows Ink on/off in either the Wacom settings or Photo/Designer settings. 10. Hey everyone, thanks to the great OCIO support and the performance, I´m using affinty photo more and more to process my still linear exr renderings out of octane for cinema 4D. Unfortunately I'm having an issue with alpha masking of groups with this workflow. These are the steps I take: 1. I'm rendering a half float linear exr and use the "object layer color" for alpha masking [because it's faster to render inside of octane]. 2. I take the exr into affinty [1.8.0.585] 3. Use OCIO to convert the Image to sRGB 4. Below that, I adjust my exposure if necessary 5. On T

  12. Hi Folks, one question: i exported a 2 page testfile pdf with pulisher. Even though the 2 pages have the same the content elements/type (cause i copied them), in the exported pdf the right/second page has sharp text, the left page on the other hand is pixelated. What i am doing wrong:-)? Greetings from Germany Jo 20190925_Broschuere_148x148_2TEST.afpub 20190925_Broschuere_148x148_2TEST.pdf
  13. I've been using AP for about 2 years and I've never had a single problem until I updated to 1.7 where there's a very noticeable pixelated look in everything (text, pen tool, shapes, etc) and I also seem to have this line using gradients found also in the linked post. Do keep in mind though that I got a new PC around the same time as 1.7 so it could also be that but I'm unsure. I've posted my settings and an example. I'm not sure whether this is the correct place to ask this or not so please correct me if I'm wrong.
  14. When rotating the canvas (View - Rotate Left/Right) the artwork previews/appears pixelated and distorted on the artboard - almost like the strokes and objects get fuzzy outlines. I'm not sure if it's a bug, but its been present since the day I started using Designer and Photo - even vector shapes get jagged edge previews when the canvas is rotated. I've attached a preview to show what I mean (you may need to zoom in to have a better look), but I'm sure anyone who has used the canvas rotation feature is aware of this. Is there a way to fix this? Any help would be appreciated.
  15. Using Designer 1.7.1.404, running on Win10Pro, v.1903 OS BUild 18.362.239. Everything has been working well. Just tried to create some test logos and variations. Used Artistic Text Tool for the text bits. On some versions, I used the smoke brushes purchased through Affinity. Text had the effects of Outer Shadow and Outer Glow. I tried having the text elements grouped and ungrouped. The on-screen views looked great. I saved each version before trying to export. I viewed the export results in MS Photos, the elements were quite edgy/pixelated. In MS Paint, Photos and 3D Paint, the image
  16. Hi, Feeling a bit daft and its driving me nuts, When I create a document in design using letters with styles (wood effect, etc) in affinity its sharp, as soon as I import it (pdf) its pixelated when I enlarge it. This only happens when I use styles not when I use curves or flat letters. I've changed rgb settings, document size, everything. What am I doing wrong please. Thanks Just noticed, this happens with any effect on anything (curves, fonts with 3D etc)
  17. I imported a file from my photos folder into Publisher and everything was fine. Printed it all out, worked great. When I went back to the Publisher file today it look extremely pixelated. Can someone help me as to what is going on? I didn't move then image in the Finder (if that even makes any difference.)
  18. I have a .psd created in photoshop elements. It opens ok in Affinity photo. I am having trouble getting the exported pdf to show text as a vector (with zero pixelation when zoomed in). Can you please tell me what settings I should use during export to make sure text has zero pixelation when zoomed in? When I export the same .psd using photoshop elements, the resulting .pdf renders the text as a vector so I know its not a problem with my design setup. Also my print company recommends pdf/x-4 as the output profile but that preset in affinity photo produces a text with pixelated edges. The only c
  19. Hi, I have spent hours trying to figure out why the edges on this logo when exported become rough & pixelated. The logo will be used for print & web - I have tried multiple Document Settings including; Type: Web - 1280 px by 800 px 72 DPI & 300 DPI, Type: Print - 2000px, 3000px - 300 DPI. All coming out distored, pixelated or with black lines. I have also tried to rasterize which didnt work. Is there something I am missing here? Document set up quality? I'm stuck! I just need clean crisp edges on the logo. I have attached images of Affinity view screen with 100% zo
  20. I have Affinity Designer and Photo for Mac desktop, and I'm a newbie to both. I tried importing a PDF (attached) that I need to edit into both Designer and Photo. In both programs the PDF is layered, which is great since that means I can edit it easily. However, the topographic map layer becomes very pixelated. If I do my edits and then export as a PDF or PNG (or any file type that I've tried), the topographic map layer remains pixelated. This layer looks smooth when I open the PDF in a viewer. It is also smooth and not pixelated when I open the PDF using Photoshop (I don't have Illustrator).
  21. I have recently purchased affinity photo. Whenever i open a raw image and then develop it so i can edit the image in photo persona, the image becomes noticeably pixelated. Any help? Thanks, Zach
  22. Hi, I downloaded an EPS file from Freepik, and when I open the file seems like all vectors got distorted (like pixels) and impossible to edit or work with it. On illustrator the file opens OK (just to check the problem is not the file) Could you please advise? You can download the same file on this link https://www.freepik.com/free-vector/abstract-background-green-tones_1064803.htm#term=green background&page=1&position=2
  23. So after learning how to use the Cutting Out method from a video here under tutorials, I used two images, one was close to 1000x? pixels and the other over 4000x? pixels. After moving the cut out deer from one image to the building image, I see it is highly pixelated when enlarged. even though the finished image when exported as a jpg, was lowered to near the 1000x? pixel image size. To recap, I used an image 1/4th the size (deer) of the image of the building, then saved saved by reducing 75% and still have major pixelated deer on building. What did I miss? And now I'm editing to add I see you
  24. Any advice on the best settings for performance in preferences on Photo - memory usage etc? I've had a quick search but can't find anything on here. I have 64bit Windows system with 16gb ram, Intel i5-2500K 3.30ghz, with Nvidia GTX GeForce 1050 ti. Current settings are attached. My problem has been generally sluggish performance, waiting for effects to play catch-up with Retina Rendering at Highest Quality and a far too pixelated image when it's set to low quality.
  25. Hi, finally the moment has come that I have to ask for your help. Untill now I have always managed not to take your time, but now I am simply stuck. I am trying to make an HDR using 3 perfectly aligned photos of different exposures... Ususally I have no problem in doing that but in this case the result is terribly "posterised". Below are the source photos, and two results - one with all merge options unchecked and one with all options checked (by options I mean "align" and "remove ghosts" etc.). Does anyone have any idea of what might be causing such behaviour?
