I have a lot of adobe work that i need to open with these applications. CS-1 photoshop files CS-1 Illustrator files CS-3 Indesign files Can somebody please let me know if it possible at all? I have a new computer mac mini and none of my older software can run on it. Affinity software can as the store shows its compatible with my mac mini. thanks I know its a long shot but I just have to ask. thanks everyone for the input. I want to buy all three affinity apps soon they just look intuitive and pretty incredible. I need to make pdf's from affinity publisher as well, so hopefully it can export or save as pdf. thanks! -
Hi, I noticed that Photoshop has far better and more realistic white balance correction abilities. Affinity's white balance seems to give weird results that aren't true to life. Here I have set both to an extreme value of -100%. Unfourtantly, because of this, I have to keep photoshop installed to make white balance corrections since Affinity cannot do it correctly. How to reproduce: Use any regular JPG image, open each photo in affinity and photoshop, and compared the difference when you slide the white balance.

Hi just wondering if Affinity Photo is compatible with PSD multichannel documents ? Could such a file be opened and edited and re-saved in psd format ? Does photo have its own multichannel format and can this be opened with photoshop ? Similar question for Affinity Designer, is it compatible with AI format ? Can Ai files be opened edited and re-saved in AI format ? What is the native format for Designer files and is this compatible with AI ? Ive been using Adobe apps for 25 years so very interested in Affinity products. If the answers to the above questions are favourable making the change will be a no brainer. thanks. -

Had a brief look at affinity photo and whilst concluding this was good value for money software I was a bit disappointed by the absence of some basic Photoshop features,these are basic interface features which don't require fancy algorithms so I'm not sure why software which is trying to emulate Photoshop in so many other ways would leave them out, just my 2 cents worth. crop doesn't remove pixels outside document bounds layer visibility on wrong side of palette, most other progs use the Photoshop left side,this became surprisingly annoying , the eye icon would be nice too missing features: no copy/cut to new layer no default colour shortcut d no ctrl alt z to move back through history no hide selection - ctrl h no right click to bring up brush properties window

Hi, I'm trying to export a file (73 MB) from Designer to a Psd file. I need to retain editability - when I select the correct preset, the 'Estimated File Size' box keeps saying 'Calculating...' but doesn't finish calculating. It allows me to click on the Export button, and then the window disappears but nothing happens. Can anyone suggest a solution? Thanks -
Hi yesterday I bought Affinity Photo, before I used Ps. My problem is I am switching quite often from my PC to Laptop and now I am trying to sync my stuff between my devices. (I know affinity is not cloud based like photoshop, but I am trying to do like a own thing with my Nas) I already was able to sync my workspace via my NAS. So in which folders/files are the brushes and fonts stored? Bzw other important files? then I can sync my them via my nas Thanks Willibald -
Two critical bugs when exporting a file as a PSD file. 1. Any layer marked hidden in Affinity Photo shows up in the exported PSD file as empty. 2. In the exported PSD file, all layers are clipped to the size of the canvas in the Affinity Photo document. The first bug can be worked around by unhiding the layer before export. A pain but doable until fixed. The second bug is fatal. We are looking at buying about 10 licences to deploy Affinity Photo to our team but we have to maintain compatibility with Photoshop as some work will go outside where that is their design package. So any layer that extends beyond the canvas in a document is rendered useless by Affinity Photo clipping to the canvas. This means we will have to look for an alternate application. Which is a real frustration as AP does so many things so very well. Can you hyper-escalate this bug to the development team and provide some kind of workaround in the interim? By the way, importing of PSD files—some with some pretty esoteric filters, adjustment layers, masks, etc.—works very well in Photo. Kudos for that guys. Affinity Photo 1.7.3 on macOS 10.14.6.

When I try to import photoshop, gbr and abr brushes, I see a message that says" brushes imported successfully" in/under ##### but I can't find them anywhere? Can anyone out there steer me to the correct Help topic outlining proper steps for importing abr or gbr brushes?

Hi, I have Photoshop files that print on my Canon printer just as my screen shows and the site I sell them on also prints the same. When I bring these Photoshop files into Affinity, Designer, Photo and Publisher the color and definition are awful like it’s missing. I’ve tried both RGB and CMYK on the files and on the document setup. I bought these programs to make a PDF file for a book. Learning 3 at once is a little tough. The files look correct on the screen but they don’t print as they look in any Affinity program. Is there a setting that has eluded me? I appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks, Barbara -
Hi there, I’m fairly new to the affinity programs but I have been using the Adobe suite for some time, and I’m struggling with a few basics… any help would be very gratefully appreciated! Affinity Photo: When saving images for the web in photoshop I just use save for web and devices. Is this the same as similar as using export and choosing jpg? I can’t find any way to batch process images to crop to both landscape and portrait images so that they are all a specific height and width. Is there a way to do this? As a work around I decided to crop them all. So I set up a preset but this is now greyed out and I can’t use it anyway! I also thought maybe I could crop all of the open images and then do some sort of bulk export but I can’t find a way of doing that? Publisher: Does publisher somehow make you files much smaller? I opened an ai doc in Publisher which was 300MB. I made a few minor edits in Publisher and saved and I notice that it is 88MB! Is this usual? Thanks in advance! Sarah. -
Hi all! I'm new to Photo, having switched just this week from Photoshop. I"m not sure what the setting would be called, but it allowed me to choose how much my paintbrush would switch between my primary and secondary brush colors. It could be found in the same setting that choosing how much hue jitter there is. I assumed it would be found in the same place in Photo. I have found the hue jitter, but no primary/secondary paint color jitter. Anyone know where I can find this setting? Thanks so much! Sevan -
Today I tried every way to edit a 360 picture in the equirecangular live projection it works fine BUT it is all destructive! SO for this work I have to go back to Photoshop I already abandoned for good (at least I thought), this is very sad because I love the Serif programs - especially Affinity Photo. Please do something in that regard otherwise keep up the good work greetings Schwabihabi

When I use Adobe Photoshop, I can easily cut or copy part of the picture with the rectangular marquee tool and Ctrl+X or Ctrl+C command. A few seconds later I copy it into another picture with the Ctrl+V command. When I try to do it in Affinity Photo, marquee rectangle is displayed, but nothing is selected. I looked into manuals, but they provide no clues why the Affinity Photo rectangular marquee tool does not work. I have found the answer - Copy Flattened = Ctrl+Shift+C. (I do not know how to delete this thread.) -
Please take a look at this post in Dpreview. Develop Persona has problem with pink tint. https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/63162325 Lightroom , C1 ,RawTherapee and other RAW editors doesn't have this problem. Download the RAW file , and check it out yourself.

Hi all, I just took a clean install with macOS Mojave on my MacBook Pro as it started to be really slow and full of old crap I never use anymore and I only wants to use it for creative work anyway.. but it means I don't have Photoshop installed anymore..and I would prefer not to. Can I still install the NIK plugins and use with Affinity Photo plugins, even if I don't have the Photoshop plugin folder on my Mac? If yes, can anyone please explain how? :-) -
I am wanting to move from Photoshop to affinity but all my existing psd files are printing out alot darker than they do from Photoshop. Is there a way to sort this as this will be the only reason i dont move to affinity -
I have made a closed vector path in Photoshop. Applied an inner glow to the path. I can copy the path as SVG and paste into AD. The path gets pasted but not the effect applied to it. So...what tricks are there, if any, how to preserve vector layer effects when importing/pasting from Photoshop. Thanks -

Hallo, ich suche eine Möglichkeit um in Affinity Photo einen Beschneidungspfad im JPG Format zu exportieren. Ich habe einen Auftrag bekommen in dem die Bilder mit einem Pfad zum Ausschneiden versehen werden sollen (Siehe Bild). Dieser Pfad soll dann mit exportiert werden. Es gibt diese Funktion wohl in Photoshop. Ich würde mich über eine Antwort freuen ob es möglich ist diesen Vorgang in AP ebenso zu lösen.

Hi there, I've been trying to import Photoshop .abr brush sets, into Affinity Photo for iPad, so far without success. I'm using an iPad Pro, latest vs. I've tried importing from the following locations: icloud Google Drive Dropbox All files are greyed out and not selectable. I can confirm I don't have Adobe Sketch installed, which I read in earlier posts was causing issues with importing brushes. Any suggestions would be appreciated! PS. It's a very impressive program, great job! -
Hi Everyone, My Explanation: I'm new to Affinity programs and I'm in the process of preparing all of my PSD files for Affinity Designer & Photo. I've been using Adobe Photoshop for a long time during that time I have created a lot "Smart Objects" within my files. Yesterday, in adobe photoshop, I spent two hours preparing my main device templates and eight hours preparing one single file to be imported and used in Affinity Designer. I went into each smart object individually and pulled the full resolution images, shapes, etc.. and placed them on a separate artboard in the main file. Below is an example of a simple template that has multiple layers of smart objects. This example has several instances of 3 layers of smart objects. Even though that doesn't add up to too many smart objects in this file I have lots of files that are similar, or even more complex, and the method that I have been using is incredibly time-consuming. My question: Has anyone found a better way of preparing smart objects, or assets within smart objects, for Affinity Designer & Photo?

I am basically trying to recreate some Photoshop Actions I use all the time. In Photoshop I can create a few Vibrance adjustments with vibrance at -100 and saturation at +100 and it shows the most intense areas. In Photoshop these are just in a folder but they work without the folder too. In Affinity Photo this doesn't really do anything like in Photoshop so I am not sure how the layers actually behave? I do have some other questions -- if someone out here is really proficient with Affinity -- would it be helpful if I sent over my Photoshop Actions -- I have 3 that I really want to match with Affinity. Hi to everyone, I just have a quick question/tip. Can we expect option to import of PDF/EPS (general vector files), as raster "Photoshop Import PDF" style? I do a lot of sign making, digital printing, car wrapping, and I receive files that just need to be rasterised before going into production (CREO, VersaWorks, Raster Link Pro) (font, shadows, transparencies, messy CMYK/RGB files, gradients... and so on). So this option would be awesome step of replacing my CS3 :) Thanks. p.s. eps export that works with older programs (Illustrator 10 compatibility) would be good for industry users. btw in my whole life I didn't see cleaner eps file... like hand written :)
