  1. Hi After having downloaded image from web-site, on which i'd like to give the webmaster a hint on pics-sizes, I intended to reduce the images size dramatically from over 6 mb down to only necessary measurement of something like 320px × 215px (orig: 6.106px × 4.093px!). However, section to "Transform" is inactive. How to get access to these parameters? How can I edit the pic? Tks & Greez Tamaleus
  2. How can one create a border - either in a straight line or in a dashed line - like the one you can create with the “stroke” function in photoshop?

  4. Hello everyone, From today i believe i have to start sharing few of our design works (actually i'm working alone but i do build a team from time to time depending on project size ) Most of our client/requesters are Church based and we really enjoy doing stuffs for them but what you will se here is more about Smarty Studio standing with other studio/teams together into what is to become Congolese Design Style. Well each country have it's own style of design but Congo doesn't have a proper thus most of Congolese designers simply clone/copy styles from everywhere. This is a beginning, please your inputs on each design palet/kit will be of great help and will help us improving better. Blessings !
  5. Hey guys......so I was working on my new course...and got the the lesson on making brushes.....sooooo I had to amek some brushes. I have learned so much from the people on the site....I wanted to give back, so here ya go . I am working on new blog post and some new art using them....so I will keep you in the loop Feedback on them is always appreciated, I love making these sorts of tools Jeremy , www.7thseasonstudios.com Stroke brushes -7th season studios .afbrushes Smoke and fog brushes -7th season studios.afbrushes
  6. EDIT: Nevermind! I figured out what I was doing wrong. Thank you, though! I'm using Affinity Photo. This is the scenario: I have an 14 x 9 inch (landscape) jpg of an advertisement that I need to edit to fit an 8.5 x 11 inch (portrait) page. I need to cut and paste parts of the ad around in order to do this. I created an 8.5 x 11 inch document. Next, I placed the image onto the document. Naturally, some of the image falls off the document. As an image layer, I am unable to select part of the image, cut it and paste it onto a new layer. What happens is the entire image gets pasted onto the new layer. So, I converted the image layer into a pixel layer. Now, I am able to select a portion, cut and paste into a new layer, but the rest of the image (the part that fell off the document bounds) has disappeared. It has been clipped to the canvas. Unclipping the canvas is pointless because although it now shows the entire image, it defeats the purpose of creating an 8.5 x 11 document in the first place. What am I doing wrong? In Photoshop, I'm able to create a document of whatever size, place or drag in an image of any size, and manipulate the image as I need to and the parts that fall off the document bounds are still there.
  7. I know how to attach text to a curve in designer, but can't find the option in photo. Does it exist? If so, where is the feature / button TIA, Jeff
  8. Hi all, Would be nice to be able to add color label to layers for organizational purposes, when dealing with +50 layers and groups, having them categorized by colors would make it easier to navigate in the Layers panel. If this feature is added, please allow the users to choose any color and not limited by few presets only. Cheers, Juan

    Remaining of selection area

This is a plain problem that has been occurring since the early days. STEP: Enter Quick mask mode Draw a mask area Move the cursor to the photo Cancel Quick mask mode Move the cursor Then, the place where the cursor was placed is apparently displayed as a selected area. In fact it is not a selection area. Only visible dotted line display. This has occurred since around Affinity Photo was released. I would like to improve this soon. --- macOS Mojave 10.14.2 | Affinity Photo 1.6.7 | Nvidia GTX680(Current)
  10. Hello! I’ve got a problem with Affinity photo for ipad. Whenever i try to scale an img down it gets really pixelated and the quality gets poor. Wher can i change interpolation or just fix this? Thanks in advance
  11. Hello all. I'm taking over the production of a magazine of at least 50 pages which has text and photos. We are thinking of using Affinity Photo and (eventually!) Publisher. I have a couple of questions: There will be two of us producing the mag, one principally on text and one on the pictures. If we both have the Affinity software, will we able to see what the other is doing? Further to this, does it matter that I an on a Mac and my colleague uses Windows? Thanks for your help, best regards Joe

    [AP] Colorization

Hi. Looong time Photoshop user here, my first PS came on floppy's. I still use Adobe professionally at work but I wanted a cheaper photo editor at home. An alternative who isn't bogged down with options I never use / touch. So Affinity it was! Black and white colorization was on my bucket list for a long time. So I used it to learn Affinity Photo. Learning new techniques along with new software is generally not a good idea. But AP passed on all fronts. I like it so much I even use it as my personal photo editor. I'll update this thread from time to time if it's appreciated.

    Landscape Panorama

Here is a landscape panorama photo of Yellowstone National Park. This was made from 7 RAW images (hand held) all stitched together in Affinity Photo. I must say that AP did a fantastic job of stitching these together! I then made a number of adjustments in the Affinity Developer. I need to get my monitor color calibrated because I can't really tell when I develop them, if they actually look good. Nonetheless, below is the panorama.
  14. Buenos días. He realizado un nuevo manual de Affinity Photo basado en la ayuda del programa v1.6.0. Espero que os sirva de ayuda. Un saludo. Affinity_Photo_-_Manual_de_Usuario.pdf
  15. Hi - I am new to Affinity photo. I tried rotating an image of a window in crop mode. As you can see from the screen capture - it makes the bars all choppy. The original is a good sized file and does not look choppy. When I export - it looks OK. Is there any way to fix this? It makes it hard to edit a photo like this. I'm running on Windows 10. I don't have this issue with other applications. Thanks
  16. I'm trying to use Affinity Photo to make a curves adjustment layer for digital negatives that will be used in a traditional darkroom process. I need to be able to compensate for the response curves of the medium (e.g. photographic paper, cyanotype) I will be contact printing the negative to. I can calculate the curve but I can't find a way of telling Affinity Photo to make an adjustment curve where input value 5 maps to output value 20, input value 16 maps to output 32, etc. as is possible in Photoshop. I'd be happy to have a way to create a preset in the text file or something if that is possible as the curve would be the same for all images made into negatives and darkroom printed to the same medium. Any ideas? Martin
  17. I'm using the latest Affinity Photo on MacOs Mojave. When I open a photo from my Drobo 5N, it loads fine. When I try to save the file back, I get the spinning beachball and Affinity stops responding. Saving the same image to my local drive works as expected. The file always damaged on the write back to the Drobo, with a file size of 0k. None of my other software exhibits this problem.
  18. Hello Team Affinity, I am facing this weird issue running both Affinity Designer & Photo with dual monitor setup. I usually keep my Application window on my primary display and arrange the necessary tools panel in my secondary display. Everything works perfectly fine but, after every week or 10 days the display gets swapped actually. I mean the Application window moves to the secondary monitor and the tools panels moves to my primary with the exact panel arrangement. Here are the screenshots of the issue. Below image describes the layout I usually set, After a week or so, when I launch Designer or Photo, the results look like the below screenshot. I have a Nvidia GTX 750TI 2GB Graphics card with latest drivers installed. And I did not perform any driver update in between. If you need any further information to fix my issue, please do let me know. Thank you Vishnu Raghav B
  19. Hi, Apologies if this is covered elsewhere, I've spent the last few hours trying to find a solution including on here, with no success! I've successfully edited my .svg file to remove the background, and I'm now happy with it. The only problem I can forsee is that the vector lines are still visible and I'm worried about how the image might print. How on earth do I blend the edges so the resulting photo looks smooth? It's especially visible in the top prong of the plug. I've tried blur tools with no success. Is there any way of doing this? Thank you in advance, sorry if it's a simple (stupid) question, I just can't work it out and now my head hurts! uk plug no background.afdesign

Photo + Final Cut Pro X

As I learn Photo, I'm delighted to see compatibility with Apple's Final Cut Pro X video editing software. When exporting as a Photoshop PSD you can select "Final Cut Pro X". Until now I've been using Photoshop CS5 to create graphics for video projects, which I'm replacing with Affinity Photo. With CS5 I found that drop shadows created in Photoshop didn't translate to FCPX. But with Photo, the transition is seamless. FCPX lets you animate layers to have photos and or text move around the screen by creating keyframes. I like how images can be placed and quickly sized in Photo by selecting Place, click and drag. Aligning images is made easy by guidelines that pop up as you move around the document. The image below is 1920 X 1080 for HD video. Old school collage with drop shadows, gradient background. I sampled the sky reflection in the water and the fungus for the gradient background. The JPEGs are unprocessed, straight out of camera.
  21. Hello Affinity Team, Is there a way to preview the cursor/brush size while painting or brushing? I understand the iPad doesn't have hover support but at least while brushing, I hope to see the boundaries of the brush. Thank you so much!
  22. Hey everyone, glad to be part of this community! I just started using affinity photo on my iPad Pro. I simply want to crop an image to a custom size ratio (eg. 1x1) and add a frame to it. Right now I crop the image first and then I change the canvas size and add a new layer to create the canvas but... I am not able to anchor the crop tool to the borders of the image When I crop the image, the uncropped part remains underneath and I cannot create the framing all around it Setting the canvas size is quite a mess I would really appreciate everyone's help :) Nick

  24. Since this subject comes up often I am writing a definitive statement. Fireworks (layered) PNG files There is no such thing as "layered PNG". The PNG standard does not define a way to store layers, and only deals with flattened images. Fireworks saves out additional layer data to PNG files in a proprietary format using a private tag. A definition for this proprietary data has never been made public. A PNG saved by Fireworks can still be used as a flattened image by any application that can handle PNG files. These applications will handle the standard data and ignore the proprietary Fireworks data. Affinity handles standard PNG files. But, it cannot import or export the layer data using the Fireworks method. There is no expectation that we will ever be able to handle Fireworks layer data in PNG files. We acknowledge that being able to support Fireworks PNG files would be of great benefit to users of Affinity. If a public definition of the data format becomes available, we will be able to address the issue. Layered TIFF files There is no such thing as "layered TIFF". The TIFF standard only handles flattened images as part of the publicly described tags. TIFF does allow for companies to register additional tags for their own use. Adobe registered two private TIFF tags that enable them to embed layer data in a TIFF. These tags are an extension and are not part of the central TIFF standard. These tags are used to embed PSD layer data into a TIFF, in addition to the standard flattened image. Since Affinity has a PSD importer, we are able to import the layer data from a TIFF if it has these tags. However, since this is handled by our PSD importer it is subject to the same limitations as importing a standard PSD into Affinity. We make clear that while we aim to provide the best third party support for PSD, we can never replicate 100% the way Photoshop handles and displays a PSD file. Photoshop has its own approach to applying alpha/transparency, vector masks and vector strokes, layer effects and gradients. This means that while we can offer importing of editable elements of a PSD file, the result will not be a one-to-one pixel reproduction of what you see in Photoshop. We have registered our own TIFF tags for embedding Affinity layer data in a TIFF, in similar fashion to PSD layer data. This is intended for use with DAMs that use TIFF as their interchange format. When saving a TIFF file, if your document has multiple layers you will be given the option of including Affinity layer data. This will preserve the editable elements of a multi-layer document. This obviously comes at a cost of increased file size. Our TIFF tags will use our proprietary data format and as such can only be used by Affinity applications. At this time we have no plans to save TIFF files with the PSD format layer data. PSD layer data held in a TIFF file will be imported and converted to the Affinity format.
  25. I’m not having much success reducing large pano files to small web-size mailable files .... the resamplilng methods given seem to toss out allot of information,, blurring and digitizing details. Is there a way to retain the large file detail, as per PS using bilineal sharpen, etc. Neighboring helps a little, but I’m still blowing out details ... sizing goes from 15,000px wide to 2,000. The original panos look good.
