  1. Hi all, Is there a way to reset the transform values of a layer? Cheers, Juan
  2. Some photoshop brushes work just fine but others seem to lose their propeties. I don't know if it is because they are not fully compatible.
  3. Hello Peoples ! Coming again here but with few questions that you may like or not but i believe it is quite useful to ask. All my questions here are based on Beta version of Affinity Photo not on the stable version and they're intended for understanding and helping to improve what already exist and not to raise comparatives between Apples and Oranges. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Object: The Ring Function! I've been using it (not that much) since it was added to HSL Adjustment; well i really enjoy it and found it very useful when it comes to narrow and make precise color selection ...but i only see it in few of the adjustment layer that aims to work on colors. Q: Don't you think Recolor adjustment needs it to ? --------------------------------------------------------------------- Object: I've seen that there is the gear icon on the bottom right of adjustment layer when we have them opened but for unknown reason it does nothing when i click on it. Q: What it is intended to do or achieve ? --------------------------------------------------------------------- Object: As we all know that there is not enough online tutorial talking about really crazy tricks with Affinity Photo, i usually watch PS tutos and work on applying them in my AP workflow and they just work but ... for some reason i get lost when it come to do the Blend if thing. Q: Can you please point to a tutorial talking about that in details or simply share here how you do Blend if with Affinity Photo ? --------------------------------------------------------------------- Object: i often use the blend ranges function and just found it not working even if you click a million times on that gear. Q: Bug or me missing something ? Possible to fix it ? --------------------------------------------------------------------- Object: Let say i select a red color and want to add more to already selected using the same method, well ! on other software such as PS i would simply sample more color selection color by clicking Shift + Click and drag or click to add to already selected color. Q: How to that with Affinity Photo ? --------------------------------------------------------------------- Object: It is really useful to save selection made on a Photo or any other pixel related stuff but in the same time i personally found it to be quite hidden, burried into menues. Q: Possible to create a button on related tools (Sel. Brush - Flood Sel. etc.) next to the refine tool that allows that to be done without trying to find it in the menu ? -------------------------------------------------------------------- Object: in this last one, i will come to something i already asked about but i see no change until now. Let's talk about Masks (also i target adjustment layer because i love using their masking functionality). Okay ! Let's create a mask and press cmd/ctrl+i to invert it ... it stays the same i mean pure white when it should turn black (actually dark grey) when inverted and even when i paint with the brush tool on the mask it shows after i do another action such as cmd/ctrl+s or switch to another and start using it. Quite bad hein ! Q1: it is possible to fix this and make work as it should ? Q2: Possible to make the painting on mask more live and less delayed ? Okay ! Here i'm done with this. few here you will understand are bugs that need to be corrected and few other are kind of request but i count them as things that needs to be corrected at this level of development of Affinity Photo and what i point to here should also be checked and if possible get applied to Affinity Designer and Affinity Publisher because all 3 are based on the same principle and should not grow independently one another when it comes to these basic stuffs. Blessing to Y'all and don't forget it is not to raise a troll but to help improve the software.
  4. Hello, What happened to the feature on Ipad that color picker appears when I press the pen 2sec on the screen? It was really useful in my workflow for blending colours... How can I pick/blend colors in the easiest and most efficient way now? Thanks, N.

    Pixel Glitch Macros

I just made this pixel glitch macro pack and I wanted to share it with you guys. I hope you like it and let me know what you think about it.
  6. Hi, I'm seeing an odd issue trying to use AP to batch process a whole bunch of .pdf files. All the pdfs are the same dimensions and resolution, but when i run through a batch job to open and save them out to a different target pixel dimensions, some pages will end up several pixels out. If I look at the pages in Preview, there doesn't seem to be anything different about them, or if I open / rasterise them in Photoshop, there's no difference. If I open the files on their own in AP, choose their native 300 dpi, then go to resize canvas, all of them show a native size of width: 2007px, height 3070px. BUT if I use batch to process the files, with a target output size of 2007x3070px, some of them will be sized differently by a few pixels in either width or height. If I turn off all the content layers in InDesign before outputting (so that it's just the background colour of the master pages), then AP batch seems to output a consistent size, so I think the batch process is using a content box of what's on the page, rather than the crop box for the page itself (to use Photoshop's description of rasterising options). Attached is the file to try it with. It ends up as 2003x3070 when batched to png or any other format, but when opened, it's 2007x3070. Any ideas for how to get this consistent? page.P006.pdf
  7. Hi all, Maybe today is one of those days that my brain is not working properly , but I can't figure out a way to select multiple layers that belong to a group without selecting the whole group. Is there a way to do it? In this example I want to select only the Exposure 1 and Brightness layers to copy them. Cheers, Juan
  8. Hello, if I take photos with my camera (Panasonic Lumix DMC G81) with aspect ratio 16:9 and open them with preview on my Mac everything is fine and I see them in 4592 × 2584 pixels. But if I open them in Affinity Photo my photos are shown in 4608 x 3464 pixels. Do anyone have an idea how Affinity can show my photos with correct aspect ratio? Thanks and best regards Jonas
  9. I would find it helpful if each new thread needed to have the actual version/program as a tag. No point for the likes of myself with Photo only looking too much at Designer threads Cheers
  10. Hi After having downloaded image from web-site, on which i'd like to give the webmaster a hint on pics-sizes, I intended to reduce the images size dramatically from over 6 mb down to only necessary measurement of something like 320px × 215px (orig: 6.106px × 4.093px!). However, section to "Transform" is inactive. How to get access to these parameters? How can I edit the pic? Tks & Greez Tamaleus
  11. How can one create a border - either in a straight line or in a dashed line - like the one you can create with the “stroke” function in photoshop?
  12. EDIT: Nevermind! I figured out what I was doing wrong. Thank you, though! I'm using Affinity Photo. This is the scenario: I have an 14 x 9 inch (landscape) jpg of an advertisement that I need to edit to fit an 8.5 x 11 inch (portrait) page. I need to cut and paste parts of the ad around in order to do this. I created an 8.5 x 11 inch document. Next, I placed the image onto the document. Naturally, some of the image falls off the document. As an image layer, I am unable to select part of the image, cut it and paste it onto a new layer. What happens is the entire image gets pasted onto the new layer. So, I converted the image layer into a pixel layer. Now, I am able to select a portion, cut and paste into a new layer, but the rest of the image (the part that fell off the document bounds) has disappeared. It has been clipped to the canvas. Unclipping the canvas is pointless because although it now shows the entire image, it defeats the purpose of creating an 8.5 x 11 document in the first place. What am I doing wrong? In Photoshop, I'm able to create a document of whatever size, place or drag in an image of any size, and manipulate the image as I need to and the parts that fall off the document bounds are still there.
  13. I know how to attach text to a curve in designer, but can't find the option in photo. Does it exist? If so, where is the feature / button TIA, Jeff
  14. Hi all, Would be nice to be able to add color label to layers for organizational purposes, when dealing with +50 layers and groups, having them categorized by colors would make it easier to navigate in the Layers panel. If this feature is added, please allow the users to choose any color and not limited by few presets only. Cheers, Juan

    Remaining of selection area

This is a plain problem that has been occurring since the early days. STEP: Enter Quick mask mode Draw a mask area Move the cursor to the photo Cancel Quick mask mode Move the cursor Then, the place where the cursor was placed is apparently displayed as a selected area. In fact it is not a selection area. Only visible dotted line display. This has occurred since around Affinity Photo was released. I would like to improve this soon. --- macOS Mojave 10.14.2 | Affinity Photo 1.6.7 | Nvidia GTX680(Current)
  16. Hello! I’ve got a problem with Affinity photo for ipad. Whenever i try to scale an img down it gets really pixelated and the quality gets poor. Wher can i change interpolation or just fix this? Thanks in advance
  17. Hello all. I'm taking over the production of a magazine of at least 50 pages which has text and photos. We are thinking of using Affinity Photo and (eventually!) Publisher. I have a couple of questions: There will be two of us producing the mag, one principally on text and one on the pictures. If we both have the Affinity software, will we able to see what the other is doing? Further to this, does it matter that I an on a Mac and my colleague uses Windows? Thanks for your help, best regards Joe

    Landscape Panorama

Here is a landscape panorama photo of Yellowstone National Park. This was made from 7 RAW images (hand held) all stitched together in Affinity Photo. I must say that AP did a fantastic job of stitching these together! I then made a number of adjustments in the Affinity Developer. I need to get my monitor color calibrated because I can't really tell when I develop them, if they actually look good. Nonetheless, below is the panorama.
  19. Buenos días. He realizado un nuevo manual de Affinity Photo basado en la ayuda del programa v1.6.0. Espero que os sirva de ayuda. Un saludo. Affinity_Photo_-_Manual_de_Usuario.pdf
  20. Hi - I am new to Affinity photo. I tried rotating an image of a window in crop mode. As you can see from the screen capture - it makes the bars all choppy. The original is a good sized file and does not look choppy. When I export - it looks OK. Is there any way to fix this? It makes it hard to edit a photo like this. I'm running on Windows 10. I don't have this issue with other applications. Thanks
  21. Hello Team Affinity, I am facing this weird issue running both Affinity Designer & Photo with dual monitor setup. I usually keep my Application window on my primary display and arrange the necessary tools panel in my secondary display. Everything works perfectly fine but, after every week or 10 days the display gets swapped actually. I mean the Application window moves to the secondary monitor and the tools panels moves to my primary with the exact panel arrangement. Here are the screenshots of the issue. Below image describes the layout I usually set, After a week or so, when I launch Designer or Photo, the results look like the below screenshot. I have a Nvidia GTX 750TI 2GB Graphics card with latest drivers installed. And I did not perform any driver update in between. If you need any further information to fix my issue, please do let me know. Thank you Vishnu Raghav B
  22. Hi, Apologies if this is covered elsewhere, I've spent the last few hours trying to find a solution including on here, with no success! I've successfully edited my .svg file to remove the background, and I'm now happy with it. The only problem I can forsee is that the vector lines are still visible and I'm worried about how the image might print. How on earth do I blend the edges so the resulting photo looks smooth? It's especially visible in the top prong of the plug. I've tried blur tools with no success. Is there any way of doing this? Thank you in advance, sorry if it's a simple (stupid) question, I just can't work it out and now my head hurts! uk plug no background.afdesign

Photo + Final Cut Pro X

As I learn Photo, I'm delighted to see compatibility with Apple's Final Cut Pro X video editing software. When exporting as a Photoshop PSD you can select "Final Cut Pro X". Until now I've been using Photoshop CS5 to create graphics for video projects, which I'm replacing with Affinity Photo. With CS5 I found that drop shadows created in Photoshop didn't translate to FCPX. But with Photo, the transition is seamless. FCPX lets you animate layers to have photos and or text move around the screen by creating keyframes. I like how images can be placed and quickly sized in Photo by selecting Place, click and drag. Aligning images is made easy by guidelines that pop up as you move around the document. The image below is 1920 X 1080 for HD video. Old school collage with drop shadows, gradient background. I sampled the sky reflection in the water and the fungus for the gradient background. The JPEGs are unprocessed, straight out of camera.
  24. Hey everyone, glad to be part of this community! I just started using affinity photo on my iPad Pro. I simply want to crop an image to a custom size ratio (eg. 1x1) and add a frame to it. Right now I crop the image first and then I change the canvas size and add a new layer to create the canvas but... I am not able to anchor the crop tool to the borders of the image When I crop the image, the uncropped part remains underneath and I cannot create the framing all around it Setting the canvas size is quite a mess I would really appreciate everyone's help :) Nick
  25. Since this subject comes up often I am writing a definitive statement. Fireworks (layered) PNG files There is no such thing as "layered PNG". The PNG standard does not define a way to store layers, and only deals with flattened images. Fireworks saves out additional layer data to PNG files in a proprietary format using a private tag. A definition for this proprietary data has never been made public. A PNG saved by Fireworks can still be used as a flattened image by any application that can handle PNG files. These applications will handle the standard data and ignore the proprietary Fireworks data. Affinity handles standard PNG files. But, it cannot import or export the layer data using the Fireworks method. There is no expectation that we will ever be able to handle Fireworks layer data in PNG files. We acknowledge that being able to support Fireworks PNG files would be of great benefit to users of Affinity. If a public definition of the data format becomes available, we will be able to address the issue. Layered TIFF files There is no such thing as "layered TIFF". The TIFF standard only handles flattened images as part of the publicly described tags. TIFF does allow for companies to register additional tags for their own use. Adobe registered two private TIFF tags that enable them to embed layer data in a TIFF. These tags are an extension and are not part of the central TIFF standard. These tags are used to embed PSD layer data into a TIFF, in addition to the standard flattened image. Since Affinity has a PSD importer, we are able to import the layer data from a TIFF if it has these tags. However, since this is handled by our PSD importer it is subject to the same limitations as importing a standard PSD into Affinity. We make clear that while we aim to provide the best third party support for PSD, we can never replicate 100% the way Photoshop handles and displays a PSD file. Photoshop has its own approach to applying alpha/transparency, vector masks and vector strokes, layer effects and gradients. This means that while we can offer importing of editable elements of a PSD file, the result will not be a one-to-one pixel reproduction of what you see in Photoshop. We have registered our own TIFF tags for embedding Affinity layer data in a TIFF, in similar fashion to PSD layer data. This is intended for use with DAMs that use TIFF as their interchange format. When saving a TIFF file, if your document has multiple layers you will be given the option of including Affinity layer data. This will preserve the editable elements of a multi-layer document. This obviously comes at a cost of increased file size. Our TIFF tags will use our proprietary data format and as such can only be used by Affinity applications. At this time we have no plans to save TIFF files with the PSD format layer data. PSD layer data held in a TIFF file will be imported and converted to the Affinity format.
