  1. Nice job on Photo 1.5 guys. Macro function is a great start.... but I'd like to request a couple features. I use "Actions" in photoshop to string together often repeated tasks such as creating masked groups from specific alpha channels, creating retouch layers and softproofing. I realize macros are different that actions but a couple features would allow us the expand and develop this tool more. 1. I'd like to be able to assign F-Keys to specific macros. I use this extensively in Photoshop and feel hobbled in not having it available in Photo. 2. In macros I've recorded I am unable to record "move" steps. Moving, renaming and re-ordering layers and is essential for me to automate. For professional and production color/retouching work expanding the functionality of macros is critical. Thanks, Dave
  2. I do a lot of work with psd files that get exported as DDS files when completed. Does Affinity have any plans to allow the NVidia DDS Utilities to work with Affinity Photo?
  3. I would like to request the ability to import/export palettes in .ACO file format, as this format appears to be the most universally accepted file format for colour palettes. At the moment I'm able to freely share colour palettes such as skin tone palettes, etc. between Photoshop and Clip Studio Paint in .ACO file format. Affinity Photo however, will only deal with .ASE or .AFPALETTE formats and even then, can only export to .AFPALETTE. This means that if I replace Photoshop with Affinity Photo, there will be no way for me to share colour palettes between Affinity Photo and Clip Studio Paint. If Affinity Photo were to support import/export of .ACO files then this issue would obviously be mitigated.
  4. It would be nice that Affinity Photo could export to layered Tifs that are readable by Photoshop. When I export to layered TIF, Photoshop opens this file as a flattened TIF. At the moment, I have to export to PSD to preserve layers that can be read by PSD. Thanks. Bud
  5. With the new release of AF macro in AF photo, I think it would be really cool to have an ability to convert Photoshop actions to affinity ones. I don't know how you would do this, and I don't know if its even possible, but hey, its just a request :D
  6. Missing 'percent' as a resize and canvas change option like in Photoshop? So was I. But I've found a way to do it! Say, you want to double (200%) the canvas size of a document. First, call up the 'Resize Canvas' sheet and click in the first numeric field. (Note: You must click in it. If you tab to it, you'll have to type any number and then delete it before you can do the next step. It doesn't seem to accept a non-numeric keystroke for the first character.) Then, enter *=2 in the X field and hit tab. You'll see the Y field double. This works for += and -= to add and subtract from the existing value. And of course, *= and /= work as multiplication and division. So, to adjust by a percentage like 42%, just enter it like this: *=0.42 Also, these all work in almost any numeric field in Affinity Photo, like the ones in the "Transform" palette. Enjoy!
  7. It would be nice to have a TABs (in german Tabulator) tool when working with text. Are there any plans to implement this in future? :) And of course, It will be also usefull for photo too
  8. Hi! The Color Picker won'twork with a surface Pen: I try to pick a color, but while Dragging the "zoom lens" jumps between the start of the drag and the current pen position. Using the touchpad works just fine.
  9. Currently the pressure of the stroke's brush can be configured in a separate panel as seen in the attached image. Especially for more complex curves I find it very hard to adjust the graph in the panel to correctly match the segments of the curve. It would be really great to have a tool that shows the control points of the pressure graph directly on the canvas next to the spline so that the thickness of the path can adjusted in an immediate feedback loop. I imagine the controls something like in the second attached file.
  10. Dear Affinity team, is this a fake or is it real? www.techradar.com/news/downloads-advent-calendar-get-serif-affinity-photo-free-today Thanks, Stefan.
  11. I can't see another thread that mentions this problem, so here goes. I've been playing with stacking photos, which looks to be a very useful tool, as well as great fun. But if I try to change the stacking method without expanding the stack ... ... Photo crashes with this Windows error: When Photo restarts it gives this message: If I expand the stack before changing the stacking method, everything is fine. I take it from the messages that the details have been sent to you, but I thought I'd put my two-penn'orth in anyway. I'm running Windows 7 on a Toshiba Satellite laptop.
  12. How to update a Affinity Photo Beta (for Windows) ? First to uninstall old beta version and install new one OR we can install new beta version and it will upgrade old version ???
  13. Hi I just downloaded Affinity Photo Public Beta for Windows, and im running Windows 10 Pro x64! So, when i double click to open the app, shows the Affinity's Photo splash screen and then the cursor freezes, my other monitor becomes half blue, and the system hangs until i hard reset it with the reset button. 14. Wow! Surface Studio seems to be giving its competition, Wacom and Apple, a run for their money. There's a lot of arguments out there, but i wish Apple could design an iMac and macOS to accept touchscreen input in the manner Studio does. I remember Craig demonstrating drawing on an iPad Pro and then copying the drawn map to a Mac at WWDC2016. This was supposed to showcase the brilliance of the new Universal Clipboard feature that binds iOS and macOS devices closer together. Comparing to Studio now, that copy-paste feature really looks like a desperate workaround more than anything else. When it comes to productivity, Microsoft certainly has trumped Apple, at least for now. This makes me consider switching allegiances. Apple needs to address this quickly! Right now, I strongly feel that their adamant decision to not sort of merge iOS and macOS, is more of an egotistical stance and a cruel business strategy to generate more profits. I'll reserve more comments for now, until at least after 27th October when Apple will be announcing new Mac hardware. http://www.pcworld.com/article/3135370/computers/hands-on-microsofts-surface-studio-is-a-windows-pc-for-the-mac-crowd.html Will Affinity on Windows be "tweaked" to take advantage of the Surface Dial?
  15. Hello, In Lightroom, the spot removal/healing mode has a visualization feature. It's basically an edge detection algorithm with a threshold slider. When you turn it on, it shows a black background with white edges. It's very good at finding hard-to-see spots and generally speeds up the process. Additionally, if you zoom in when removing spots, you can hit the home key which automatically pans to the upper right corner of the image. Then you can use the page-up and page-down keys to step through the image in overlapping chunks top-down and left-to-right. Regards, scott
  16. At risk of touching upon a topic already resolved, I can't stress enough how important Live Rotate is to satisfy the workflows of professional illustrators who might be reluctant to fully leave Photoshop. Is a Live Rotate tool being considered for Affinity Photo? If so, then fantastic! Gotta have Live Rotate. I want to hit that 'R' key and start spinning the canvas; it's the only way to get in the workflow pocket so to speak.
  17. The Beta version and future release should allow multiple exports of tone mapped images. E.g, a version of Natura, cinematic, crazy etc of the same stack of photo's without need to reprocess each version. I am not sure the language I am using is exact. However, I currently use Canon Photo Professional for HDR and that program allows you to save a natural, bold, art bold and embossed version of the same HDR photo. Thanks,
  18. In the File Explorer on Windows 10, I expect the "(right click on image file) > open with" menu to list Affinity Photo as an option, but it doesn't. Suggest registering as a handler for image file types, during installation. I think there's a way to register with the "edit" and "open" verbs, but I'm not familiar with the process. This might help: Guidelines for File Associations and Default Programs.
  19. Hi Everyone, Just wondered if anyone has been having problems with printing out their images using affinity photo? Since finding out that affinity photo opens up RAW files at 96dpi by default (seems strange to me) I have tried the advice of others by un-ticking the resample box in document size and resizing to 300dpi. However my images come out blurry and stretched?! Anyone else having this problem? I really can't understand why a photo editing application opens images at a smaller size by default, surly we all know that changing its size can cause harm to the image which I seem to be finding? Interested to see if anyone else has my problem. Billie
  20. Hello, I am interested in acquiring Affinity Photo, I really think it is an interesting and powerful application, a strong rival for Adobe Photoshop. My question is, when I buy the license of this application, what are my rights, what benefits do I receive with their acquisition, regarding the updates, are they free of charge or when would I have to pay back for the application? That is the question. Thank you for any information you provide before making the decision to purchase both Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer. Thanks in advance, best regards.
  21. Hey all, The Windows beta of Photo is now available to try for free! Grab it here: https://affinity.serif.com/blog/affinity-photo-for-windows-is-available-now/ Here's a short (8 minute) video that just runs through a few of the basics for the Photo Windows beta and will hopefully answer some questions you may have: Direct link if you can't fullscreen the video: https://vimeo.com/190854361 It covers the concept of personas, opening images, panels, raw file development and exporting. I'd also just like to point out that we have over 120 video tutorials for Photo available in the In-house Affinity Photo Video Tutorials thread (currently at 130 and counting ;)). They are all macOS-based, but you will find that both the interface and functionality translate to the Windows version, and so I hope you'll find them useful. If you have any questions please ask. All the best, James
  22. It’s not possible to cancel time consuming operation like HDR, Panoramas, Focus stacking, etc. I have to wait for the operation to complete. I would appreciate a progress indicator for time consuming operations. I would be great to be able to reduce the number of used CPU’s to be able to do other things during heavy operation like Focus Stacking. The computer is more or less dead for other programs during these operations. Key toggling between images in Focus Stacking instead of mouse clicking on the eye symbol when retouching would be a great improvement. Resizing of canvas is only absolute, using a relative size is an improvement. The use of a luminosity masks is difficult to understand. I have not been able to copy an image into a layer mask. I can’t find tools for manually aligning images. Such as fine adjustment of pixel shift, rotatation and scaling. Move tool is course and is not usable when the image is zoomed in. In some cases only a part of an image is needed to be aligned. An Exif editor is wanted to be able to change or add information. Is it possible to use the same settings for many raw files in Develop Persona or in Photo Persona? Or save used settings for an image for later use?
  23. I'm feeling embarrassed with the white color in Affinity Photo, and I know it's not my computer or monitor problem. Because, I saw Affinity Photo itself created this problem. Check screenshot, below. I also have Photoshop CC, but that's fine. So, could anyone say something about this issue, Please?
  24. This seemed like a bug at first, but I'm realizing it's more likely a candidate for a feature request. I opened Affinity Photo (Windows beta 1.5.038) and slid it to the right of my screen to get it out of the way of something I was looking at and then realized I couldn't move it back. 1) Please consider adding "grabbable" space above the menu that would allow the window to be moved back into position. 2) There likely also needs to be an option in the preferences that allows for the window to remember it's last position when closed for each file or at least for the app as a whole. 3) A hotkey for loading temporary default behavior (like a "safe mode") would also be helpful here. I managed to fix my problem by resizing the top left corner of the app wider until I got past the words in the menu where I could grab the titlebar, but not everyone is going to realize they can do that.
  25. In the new beta 1.5.0.38 is a bug. If you want to select a text (Ctrl + A), the whole document is selected, not the text.
