Hi, blend modes can't be seen completelly (without scrolling) as in MacOS version even on the highest possible resolution. Sliding with mouse is not very good because of that. You can see the resolution of my screen in the signature.

Please please Please could you add the following feature to Affinity Photo: -Targa/TGA Export. (i can open Targa files but cant export them as Targa) - Angle Snapping for 'polygonal' Free Hand Selection tool and for when rotating with the move tool. (Super useful for accurately aligning along a certain angle) These two are the most important feature for me and would happily ditch Photoshop for these features. -
if you have a pixel layer (photo) and some adjustment layers (like 5 curves, HSL, vibrance) and the underlying image is a pixel layer only toggling off the layers (shift select, toggle off) above should instantly reveal the pure image below it takes some time, half a second or so, though in theory Affinity should not have to do any processing, just straight display the image below this would make before/ after comparisons much more enjoyable/ faster cheers PS this may be related https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/44671-snappy-popups/

Hi, How can I open a tiff file saved in CMYK profile in Photo? Years ago I saved these files using photoshop. Now I get a transparent canvas in Photo.... how can I open these? Thanks Nick -
I've got a Wacom Bamboo tablet (I know it's rather dated, but it works well). When I regularly used Adobe Photoshop (18+ years) it wasn't as laggy, but with Affinity Photo I often notice quite a bit of lag. Sometimes I brush and it just doesn't show. I use a 9' USB cable because my wife likes cables to be unseen and out of the way (the same with computer boxes!). My system has 32Gb ram and quad-core i7 processor. As I mentioned before, it didn't lag much at all with Photoshop (but did on occasion). Is it possible that the length of the cord has something to do with the lag? Is it more probable that there's something going on with the software itself? Is it because the Bamboo tablet is older and a newer tablet would be more responsive? I'd like to explore these ideas and see what could give me a more responsive experience. -
The Save History with Document is a brilliant function, that allows to screencast and build clean making-ofs. I noticed though that there's a cap around the hundreds or so; the first steps in the list disappear progressively. On purpose?

Suggest changing or allowing photo's being imported to automatically resize to the width of the canvas. Reasoning is if i'm working on a 8.5x11 document and I pull a 20 Megapixel photo in. it huge be default forcing me to have to zoom way out to downsize the image.

Hi, I bought affinity photo on July 8th, and everytime I open it up it shows affinity photo 1.5 I was wondering if I already have this? And if not how do I download it? Thanks in advance -
Hi, I realize the cropping tool can crop an entire document but what if say I want to crop an individual photo from within a document as a layer? There appears to be no way of doing this in AP. Is this something that was overlooked possibly? Thanks! -
Telegram (on iPhone at least) has a pretty nice curves adjustment feature in their photo sharing dialog you do not add points onto the curve but give the curve a gentle push to either side this gives more subtle results and feels just right on a touch surface maybe this is something that could be added to the iPad as well to even better use the touch input method cheers

Can the < select -> select sampled color > feature have an add and substract option like the other selection tools? I really like this feature but it would be a lot more usefull if you could expand the selection with other picked colors -
Heyo, just wanted to drop in and voice some impressions after trying Photo on a game prop texturing project I would have previously done in Photoshop. All in all I'm finding Photo easy to pick up, powerful and a joy to use. Two main things I'd like to see improved are performance and PSD editable text export. Had to deliver a PSD with live text so I redid all text in Photoshop at the end of the project after discovering Photo doesn't export like that yet. When doing that I felt the performace difference between the two apps, much easier to relax and focus on work when software is very responsive. Improve performance where? Everywhere really, some things I noticed lagging were transforms, merging layers, updating Navigator view and painting with large brush sizes. Perhaps I'll get into specifics more later, in other threads. These things take time. Keep at it team, you're doing good!

I would like to see the HSL color wheel added to affinity photo as a default color picker in the color tab on the right side item bar.

I have a folder full of RGB imgages. Is there a fast way to convert all of them to grayscale? And is there a way to convert all of them (tif, jpg) to PNG, too? -
I would appreciate if the pinned topic at https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/28553-windows-install-faq/ could be developer-expert expanded to include FAQs like: What will happen to all your existing resources on an existing installed version of Windows Designer and Photo when you: a. install a beta (will it inherit your existing resources from the existing installed version?) b. decide to make the beta your one-and-only c. decide to quit using the beta and retreat to your previous version d. upgrade from one stable version to the next announced stable version Also add FAQs step-by-steps to do any version/beta upgrades so nothing bad happens, and you see no interruptions in all your resources, tools, settings, etc. (This is 21st century possible, right?) Yes, I'm a worrier. And a problem-avoidance technician. And everyone really is out to get me. It is a result of too many softwares, too many OSs, too many years. -
I like to use low flow settings on the brush when doing dodge & burn. In Photoshop this works very well, in Affinity Photo I have problems to get smooth brush strokes with low flow settings. When I use low spacing on the brush the result is smoother but far too much "ink". In the screenshot I did one line with 5% spacing (upper line) and one with 1% spacing (lower line). The lower line was painted with 1 stroke, the upper with 3-4 strokes. I want to achieve a subtle effect like in the upper line but without the "rippeling". How do I get a smoother effect when using about 1% flow?

Hey all, Im currently making the move from photoshop to Affinity Photo. Thankfully, im still very much a beginner in PS so I'm not losing out on much in terms of having to relearn stuff. Photoshoppig is mostly something I like to do for fun - I'm usually more into the illustration side of things (Web and UI) so this is more of a hobby. My question - where do you guys gather your source images from? I enjoy making compilations or experimenting with things like double exposure tutorials ect, but spend 75% of my time looking for images that I'll actually be able to cut out from/that seem suitable. Half the time this ends up in a trashed project too :( Regards, Alex -
One of the things I have been waiting for, is Affinity Photo for iPad. It seems this has been sent back by many months? I am also waiting for a decent DAM app (I do not like LightRoom's UI!), since the time Apple killed Aperture. I have almost decided to invest my free time into developing one myself (I am a developer with a passion for Photography). -
Hey Affinity, I've been using both Designer & Photo since its beta and I really enjoy it. I have gained nothing but enjoyment and happiness using your software and the progress you make. My only concern about Photo is the lack of smart objects. I understand there's a few posts from last year that mention them, but I'm not sure where this feature sits on your list of things to do as I couldn't see it on either of the roadmaps. It's basically the only thing I need Photoshop for at this point. Ability to read .PSD with Smart Objects instead of flattening the file into a pixel layer. Smart Objects This would be amazing, and I know that I'm not the only person that use mockups with this feature. I tend to make my own, but sometimes it's more suitable to use an existing one, which is made using Photoshop. I understand you aren't Adobe, so I'm unsure what you can and can't do, so even if the feature works in it's own way, I would be overjoyed. Keep up the good work Affinity, Cheers, Lachlan

Hello everyone! In Affinity Designer, there is an option to create a shortcut for jumping up and down a layer. In Photo, this option is not available. Could you include it in a future release? It would be convenient when changing the document size automatically recalculate the size (for non pixel units) <-> DPI as in Photoshop when "Resample" is disabled: The dialog might look something like this:

Do this: 1. Launch AP. 2. New document. 3. Choose the Paint Brush and a color. 4. >> Note it says: "The assistant has added a new raster layer" 5. Close without saving. 6. New document. 7. Choose the Flood Fill tool (paint bucket) and a color. 8. Click on the page. 9. >> NOTHING HAPPENS. It does not make logical sense to me why the Assistant would assist me in auto creating a pixel layer for the Paint Brush tool but refuse to create a pixel layer when I click the Flood Fill tool on the canvas. Can someone explain the logic to me? If there is no sound logic behind it, I am inclined to submit a new feature request. (Keep in mind I am comparing my experience to Photoshop, where I don't need an assistant to create a paintable layer because a paintable layer appears automatically in Photoshop.) Thanks.- 10 replies

It would be nice (if it doesn't already exist and I've just missed it) to be able to toggle on & off the spell check feature. The squiggly red line can be really distracting when I'm trying to look at the design, especially when the word is purposely missing letters.
