  1. Description: When you try to change the used font for an artistic text through typing the first letters of the font you are looking for, Affinity Photo is closing itself. Reproduction: 1. Open Affinity Photo 2. Create a new file 3. Create a new artistic text layer and type something 4. select the artistic text layer 5. go to the font drop down window, click it and type the first letters of the font you are looking for e.g. "be" for "Bebas" Specs: - MS Windows 10 Pro 10.0.19044 Build 19044 - Affinity Photo 1.10.5.1342 Same behavior in Affinity Designer.
  2. Here's a little fall season set of some assets & styles for the community. Caution: the included Fall & Halloween styles are very huge in size, since these styles are build out of 3600 x 3600 px bitmaps, so they can also be used on demand for higher-res printing purposes here. The corresponding fall assets & styles set files: fall-assets.afassets (275 KB) fall-holloween.afstyles (283 MB) - Have a nice fall time!
  3. Hej.
  4. When rotating the canvas (View - Rotate Left/Right) the artwork previews/appears pixelated and distorted on the artboard - almost like the strokes and objects get fuzzy outlines. I'm not sure if it's a bug, but its been present since the day I started using Designer and Photo - even vector shapes get jagged edge previews when the canvas is rotated. I've attached a preview to show what I mean (you may need to zoom in to have a better look), but I'm sure anyone who has used the canvas rotation feature is aware of this. Is there a way to fix this? Any help would be appreciated.
  5. Hi! There is a way to set other than 20% value of flood select tool/magic wand? It's stick to 20% on the every new open file. I suppose, better option is to do not revert to default value, when opening every new file. It's important when you have to open and make 400 packshots...
  6. Picking a color for Gradient strokes and fills, only works from the gradient menu. In the gradient menu there is the option for color. However from this color panel I do not have access to my swatches. Further more, if I navigate to my swatches and select a color, that color overrides the gradient on the object as one solid color. Same goes for the color panel. Note -- For fills I can work around this by using the Fill tool to create the adjustable line for gradients, selecting the nodes on the adjustable gradient line and then selecting colors from my swatches or the color panel with out the swatches overriding the gradient to a solid fill. I should be able to select a color for gradients from swatches and the color panel while I have the gradient panel open with nodes selected. I should not be limited to the single "color selector" button that is within the gradient panel. I feel like it could almost be done away with, as I'm sure most people have their color panel or swatch panel located somewhere on their screen. Edit : I have found that within the gradient color selection there is a drop down which allows me to access my swatch colors. This provides me with a useable work around for coloring stroke gradients. However my point still remains that this color selection button could be done away with. I already have my color panel, and swatch panel, open in my work space, I use them very frequently and habitually. It is very frustrating to have these extra steps/clicks to navigate to and color gradients. When the color and swatch panel are used so frequently, it is very anti intuitive that they both do not work for gradients.
  7. I've been making 3D anaglyphs in Photoshop for years. There are tutorials in Affinity Photo on how to achieve a 3d "effect" using a single photo. I'm not looking to do just an effect. What I do in Photoshop is take 2 photos approximately the distance of your eyes apart. I touch them up then I copy the right photo and paste it into the Red Channel of the left. when I open all channels on the left photo I get the classic 3D "red/blue" separation that makes the photo pop using 3D glasses. Any idea how I recreate this process in Affinity Photo? Been trying for a while unsuccessfully. Please help me as my Photoshop on my old computer is slowly dying.
  8. I have just finished 'Mountains in the Mist', which I did in Affinity Photo using the free 'Nature' and 'Atmosphere' brushes (plus a few images and other brushes). I have uploaded too a numbered set of JPG images from the first background sky layer 01_ to the last _FINAL so (if anyone is interested 😄) you can see how I created it.
  9. Hi, I have been experiencing some issues with Affinity Photo while using it for digital art. I am running Affinity Photo version 1.10.5.1342 on Windows 11 I have a ryzen 7 3700x CPU and an NVIDIA RTX 2080 GPU I am using a drawing tablet (XP-Pen Star 03 V2) and am drawing using it on your software. The crash happens no matter the selected mode (low, high or windows ink). In all cases using the undo shortcut just after drawing with the tablet can make the entire software suddenly close. Attached to this post are three recent crash logs to help troubleshoot the issue 8ca3abf4-24f5-429f-a028-ac8fe9d85d1c.dmp eeeaff53-e2e0-402b-b815-e47005da756b.dmp 3efcbf17-d328-49bb-870c-d7a8a05743c7.dmp
  10. Animatior in Affinity Photo, and or Timeline?? I think that it would be super cool if Affinity Photo like Photoshop added frame by frame animation, this is a huge downside to using Affinity Photo for me, I don't think it should become a seperate product since, well, I already have Affinity Photo, I do not need a full fledged animator and they already have their hands busy. The idea would be you could makes frames and export them as .gifs and maybe .mp4's? that would be cool! all the features would pretty much be a copy of photoshop (maybe some cool feature aswell.), then cartoonists could animate, photo editors could do some sick things and designers could make sick banners and internet .gifs, If affinity added this, I would completely forget about photoshop and leave it in the dust, affinity is amazing and with animation it would be great! Thanks for reading this post! please consider this :D - Segovo
  11. Hello. I would like to ask why affinity photo's develop persona is still has very limited features? I hope they would at least add color correction features that would allow you to change hue by hue, hue by luminosity, hue by saturation, saturation by hue and etc. A lot of useful color editing tool are only available outside develop persona, making it harder to edit the image without degrading it easily. The masking in develop mode is also still very limited. I hope affinity will soon add it to their updates. Thanks.
  12. Is there a way to add a "layer" in Affinity Photo without using Designer? I mean the layer for isolating objects we can add in Designer.
  13. A bit of a weird one. When I create a new layer and double click the title to rename it, if I type the new layer name too quickly the app seems to commit to the new name before I've even finished typing it. This seems to be especially prevalent when I try and rename it with anything starting with the letter "S". For instance, if I make a new layer and I want to rename it "Skyline", I double click the default name "(Pixel)" and quickly start typing "Skyline" I only get as far as "Sky" before it commits to the renaming. So I end up with a layer prematurely called "Sky" and accidentally proceed to toggle all of the keyboard shortcuts for the remaining characters in the word "L I N E" while thinking I'm still busy typing out the layer name. Hopefully this makes some kind of sense! Please let me know if you need more info.
  14. Hi, I'm new to use Affinity Photo and Affinity Design. Till now I used Photoshop. I'm missing some function in Affinity. Can someone tell me how to rotate the canvas in Affinity Photo and how to change the Brush size with the mouse like Photoshop.
  15. I just got the a7iv recently and for every single photo I uploaded was distorted, cropped and just blown out looking when importing to Affinity photo. I have been looking heavily on the internet and have not found similar problems. I have my camera set to RAW. .ARW is Sonys format. All help would be appreciated. On my camera the photos look fine and in photos it looks fine as long as I don't import them. If I import the photos they just turn out grey as shown in the pictures.
  16. After working normaly with vector graphics, since last weeks I'm working with raster graphics, so got working in Photo again. Just to be surprised to see that just merging two pixel layers isn't working without extreme quality loss; creating a blurry result which makes the result unusable. Searching on this forum I found the following threads with people having the same issues, some of them dating years back, but most of them on MacOS (see below). I'm working on Windows, but that so many people already asked for a fix to this core feature has even upped my surprise, because it's obviously still not working as supposed to after years. There is some workaround described by some in these threads, which goes something like 'rasterize first before merging', but next to my layers already being aligned rasters (pixel layers), it still doesn't work without blurryness when merging after rasterizing them first. Just look at the video below; it makes me a little sad 😢 to conclude there doesn't seem to be a way to just merge two layers which, forgive me if I'm wrong, are both just an array of pixel values that need to be merged together one by one. I really don't get why this should even go through whatever process that could cause this, as for instance anti-aliasing isn't even needed as we're working with two pixel layers where pixels are on the exact same spot (coming from the exact same input raster graphic and never been moved nor scaled, so all the pixels align exactly on the same spot and the topleft pixel is the first pixel. There shouldn't be any issue merging these IMO). Please Serif, last thing I'd like to do is push developers or be rude, but could you please raise the priority on this core function, especially because this issue has been open for so long obviously? For a raster editing program I would expect this to just work tbh. Thanks in advance! 😀 Merge-Issue-Photo-2.mp4 ,
  17. Hi, is there a way how to crop individual objects in Photo instead of the whole document?
  18. When using the brush tool in Affinity apps I always get very odd brush size increments when using the square bracket ( [ ] ) keys to change the brush size. If I use a 10px brush and use "]" to size it up one increment, it doesn't go to the expected 15px, but rather to 11,5 px. And then, if I press the "[" key to size the brush back down to 10px from 11,5px, it randomly ends up at 9,8px (?). Pressing "]" three times from 9px results in 9px, 10,4px, 11,9px, and 13,7px, instead of the expected 9px, 10px, 15px, and 20px values. I find this a bit strange, as I feel that decimal pixel values for brush sizes make little to no difference, and it's just generally odd that using the square brackets to change brush sizes doesn't just use rounded increments - I hate mentioning Photoshop as a reference example, but if if ain't broke... For instance, using the brackets between the values 1px and 10px should only change the brush size in increments of 1px (1,2,3,4,5px...), anything between 10px and 50px should change in increments of 5px (10, 15, 20, 25, 30px...), anything between 50px and 100px should change in increments of 10px (50, 60, 70, 80, 90px...), anything between 100px and 200px should change in increments of 25px (100, 125, 150, 200px), then 50px, and anything above 300px should change in increments of 100px every time you press the square bracket(s). Is there a significance to these weird, decimal pixel increment values? If so, is there a way to change it back to something more normal/user friendly?
  19. More whimsical nonsense. I saw a meme recently asking what if prey animals were predators and vice-versa. Naturally, I thought 'I can do better than that', and perhaps I have. (I haven't got the original to show you, so you'll have to take my word for it.) In case you can't recognise them, this is a rabbit and a wolf, but I've switched the eyes and the teeth. I think the results are a little disturbing . . . Both source images are from Pixabay. The rabbit is by David Mark, the wolf by WikiImages.
  20. I realise I haven't posted anything here for some time, so here's something I made to amuse my musical friends on Facebook (with some success). The concept is taken from a Will Heath Robinson drawing I saw in an exhibition not long ago. I could have bought the original (if I had lots of money) but I decided to steal emulate the Master's idea instead. The original image, on the left, I found on the internet; it's not very big, and so my piece isn't either.
  21. These outlines are unwanted how should i copy my masked images into this new document
  22. Hi There, I have been using Photo for a while now.. Every single time I open a RAW photo and develop it appears to be blurry and unsharp. I am 100% sure that the photo is sharp, when I go to the export screen it appears even more blurry and unsharp. Exported images are sharp tho. But at this point I feel like I cannot be sure that it is indeed sharp inside Affinity Photo. Is this problem familiar and is there a fix for this? Sincerely, Roel
  23. I have a label of text, graphics and a photo composed in Publisher. I can group them all and I want to proportionally reduce the dimensions of the group to fit a smaller container. When I reduce the dimensions by moving the corner marker, the graphics and the photo get smaller, but the text does not. Any suggestions? TIA.
  24. Is there any way to rotate canvas in Affinity Photo while using drawing tablet? Now the canvas can be rotated using alt+scroll wheel on the mouse - but while using a drawing tablet it breaks the flow and not as intuitive as some other applications where you can hold down a button and drag the pen on the drawing tablet rotate the canvas without leaving the pen.
