  1. Hi Everyone, I use Affinity Designer daily, mostly on the side of the web development I do. I have been waiting for a feature since the dawn of time, I kind of gave up looking for information on it in 2017 but its now 2020! Can we please have a prototyping persona? Something similar to Adobe XD. I know the capable people at Serif can do this. You had a web plus at one point. I mean, you could argue that it should be a new application but you could just make it a persona. I create all my icons, illustrations, elements etc in affinity designer and have to copy them over in to XD. I dont want to use Adobe XD when there could be a first party solution. I read before on another thread that it was added as a disabled feature in 1.6 Beta. with 1.8 approaching. Can we expect to see it? Id take just basic clickable links and buttons to navigate for now. Not fussed about transitions. Maybe the ability to record when you click through the prototype in preview mode.
  2. I am working in a studio, sometimes I recibe some documents but when i try to export it whit the Export Persona the program stop working, I attached a video where show the problem, the low frame is becuase of the software which I used to record it but the Affinity works as normal, but when I change to the Persona to Export, becuase I needed to export just one part of the document is when it crash. For now what I do is open a new workshop and copy and paste just the part I need it whit the export menu, but are more steps and is not optimum. nCZfDPKiyp.mp4
  3. I have three 960 x 960 work tables at 96 dpi and I cannot export them in Persona mode. The program freezes and I have to close it. I leave some screenshots. I've been attracted to work because of this. I look forward to your help. Greetings.
  4. Managing columns, rows, guides and grids is currently done via various manager dialogs and is a little bit ’old school’ considering how smoothly the rest of the software works. Would it be possible, or even make sense, to have a new persona where we can manage all of this kind of thing? I don’t know how this would work with Publisher and its master pages (e.g. different guides in different master pages) but I think it would make Designer easier to use. I’m imagining features such as being able to: * use power duplicate on guides; * group or mass-select guides to manipulate them together; * drag the grid itself to change its size and orientation; * save guides/layouts for import into multiple projects; ...and I’m sure other people have better ideas. I haven’t thought this through very much so there could be major problems with the idea but I wanted to throw it out into the community to see what people thought about it.
  5. How do I export with the Export persona? I choose a folder but it never gives me the option of ‘Open’ so I always have to cancel. I can’t even export manually now with this one file. When I go to the export dialogue box, my only option is to export the entire document, not just an Artboard. What am I missing? Or is it a bug with the program? Any help is appreciated. This has never worked (properly) for me since I got the program 6 months ago. Thanks. 5626AEB4-3701-424C-A02B-DF8C72E57294.MP4
  6. My Publisher assets panel seems to be empty, on my Mac Designer it has iOS 12 assets. - Does Publisher have assets included? - With Persona, Does it not make sense that these assets are a shared resource across all Affinity applications? Seems strange that clicking on the Designer persona, still shows no assets and I need to open up the Designer application instead. - If publisher just isn't seeing them, does anyone know where I should look in my system to find them? -Is there any location in the forum for sharing assets? Thanks
  7. I would like to have Export Persona in Publisher as well.
  8. Hello ... I know that there are already topics to this Problem, but I would like to summarize this again, because I urgently need help. I've been using Photo and Designer for a while now - also from Beta paraell. I use the publisher since the beta phase. I have now all 3 programs on the version 1.7.1.404 (bought). Unfortunately I get when changing the Apps (as Persona) in the publisher always the message that I should buy the other programs, even if they are currently running paralell. I have already reinstalled the three apps in different orders, reset the apps with Ctrl-launch and ... and .... and ... Is there a way to completely remove all apps from the Win10 PC and start over or reset StudioLink? Here something seems to be very confused.
  9. Some thoughts on Personas, Sudiolink, and Edit In… commands. It seems to me there is room for improvement in the approach to publisher’s implementation of personas and the studio link feature as well as the edit in photo and edit in designer menu items in both affinity publisher and affinity designer. I believe publisher’s personas need to be addressed. Instead of a designer icon persona, it would be a vector persona icon. Instead of an affinity photo icon for the persona, it ought to be something akin to designers pixel or raster persona. I think reserving the app icons exclusively for the studio link feature would be wise. It may be a good idea to have a separate studio link section on the tool bar, before the personas, as a shortcut to the edit in command that usually sends the file from one app to the other while closing it in the originating app. In addition, this leaves a possibility for publisher to develop or host new personas, such as a preflight persona, an extensive resource / font / hyperlink manager persona, an export persona. some of these may be shared across apps like the export persona, if one owns the hosting app, As publisher currently does with designer and photo. affinity might want to open up the persona as a plug-in platform of sorts, but much more powerful than anything offered in competing suites. Of course it would be beneficial to manage the personas through an app pref pane, to disable and enable what suits one’s workflow. An approach like this might yield a very flexible and customizable set of tools and modules that interact with each other, specifically tailored to an individual’s process. Just some ideas...
  10. Having been patiently waiting for Personas to be revealed in Publisher, I was eager to test it in today's Customer Release. I was surprised to find that I was faced with an invitation to buy StudioLink for £30++ No mention of this before! Am I missing something?? I bought Photo & Designer in their pre-Release days. 11. A happy Affinity user here. Just wanted to suggest that the Isometric Studio would be better served as its own persona. This would eliminate the issues of having to show grid in one menu, show grid in the isometric panel, switching between grid cycles within the panel, and having to 'double check' as it were, the showing of the grid..it seems unnecessarily messy and unorganized. I think it definitely qualifies as its own persona, given the complexity and abundance of options. Thank you!
  12. Hi everyone. I'm new to affinity , just downloaded the trial for Designer and Publisher. (i want to stop my Adobe subscription as soon as possible) Anyway, i want to know if it will be possible to do in Publisher (together with the Designer persona) every thing what i can get done in Designer. [i see for example that i can apply the same amazing bevel effects, corner options, line options, etc... and its the same easy to edit tho nodes. - in In Design its much more difficult to edit vectors then AI] Thanks in advance!
  13. Designer persona and pixel persona' panels are synchronized There was a similar bug before
  14. So here I have a simplified example. I have a background and two layers. How do I: 1. automatically export each layer I want (in this case Layer1 and Layer2, but it might be a subset of all topmost layers) independent (with all non selected layers non-visible) with the background 2. do this all at once?
  15. Hello everyone ! Well i will try to make it short, today ! With all recents improvements brought into Affinity line of product, i believe it is time for Serif to develop what i would call smart layers. Well this smart layers would be similar to what one have on photoshop (smart object) but will be more flexible and would allow users who convert from Adobe products to not lose it all: Smart layer would : a- bring more non destructive possibilities as when we uses the develop persona Case: i open a a photo and switch to develop persona then do my thing there, the minute i click Develop the software should actually not apply all those tuning liek it does now but instead convert the photo into a smart layer and embed all settings in there as sub Adjust. layers or Live Adjust.layer allowing us to fine tune it later if wanted. b- handle smart objects from PS and make it possible to fine tune them or even better convert them (only convertible functions) into what we actually have and use on AfPhoto then allow users to continu and finish their work started on PS with AfPhoto with ease. c- help us go beyond what we do and actually make it possible for AfPhoto users to create Dynamic Mockups that would be used among all 3 softwares and even exported for use with PS but discarding non compatible stuffs also allowing to open and process Mockups crreated with PS without losing anything. implementing Smart Layers would actually open to new possibilities and this is only a glimpse of what i think it could be, anyone here more talented or aware of stuffs then i do should had inputs here to help the Dev's to figure it out even better. Blessings
  16. Hello Team ! Hello Everyone ! Glad to make this suggestion for the good of Affinity and Designers or just Users who joined the move and those considering to join the move. My point is about not killing things that we already love but making them even better and i hope this won't become a troll. To my sight, the celebrissime Liquify Persona need to be reviewed and improved, boosted or upgraded (take it as you want). Actually, a persona is not just something we click at but it is an identity to a type of Designer/ Creative Person/People and it is time to make it reflect those of us who identify their style through that Persona. ___________________________________________ Having a Persona to only twirl, Freeze, push etc ... some couple of Pixel is good but ... there is more to it. I suggest the Liquify Persona to be upgraded and maybe renamed to fit with the real style it is supposed to reflect: Photo Manipulation or Photo Composition (here too call like you want). I suggest more tools to be put in there that will help make the Photo Composition/Manipulation happen from that precise place with dedicated tools and even it can be the opportunity to develop new tools that fit the Manipulation/Composition Style. i'm not asking for tool to be removed from the Pixel Persona, not at all but asking for the Pixel/Photo Persona to be less loaded from its first approach for sure a user could decide to customize his toolbox like we currently are allowed to do but if that user is a Photo Manipulator/Compositor then he should load everything he want (photos) using the Pixel/Photo Persona then switch to the dedicated Manipulation/Composition Persona and do his work from that place. The workflow could be like this: 1- Load an image (or many images) on the Pixel Persona then select the object we want to work with 2- click the Manipulation/Composition Persona then be presented with necessary tools for that precise job, from Selection brush, Flood Selection, to inPainting not forgetting all liquify tools but all those should now be in more advanced mode giving more flexibility and settings to fine tune the work. 3- Do the job and when done click on Apply to switch back to the Pixel/Photo Persona which is the central place and see the result. Then do the same again and again with all other layers who need to be transformed or manipulated 4- the upgrade should give the user the opportunity through a button (like the After/Before) to view full stack of layer in low opacity mode which can be increased or decreased (but the user should only be allowed to work on one layer at a time. 5- All Color Grading work can happen in the Develop Persona or in the Pixel/Photo Persona (here for those who need to control) 6- The Tone Mapping Persona wold be helpful for fine tuning the thing with rich presets, LUT or Manual stuffs. Well all this must be given the possibility to be non destructive, meaning i must be able to select a layer in my stack anytime, at any level of progress and switch back to the Manipulation Persona and redo this or fine tune more that etc... More focus in the Non Destructive aspect will actually increase the value of the software. I know the move you are taking with making Designer and Photo to be kind of sub or Persona for Publisher but still Photo should be improved on its own because Photo compositor/Manipulators won't buy Publisher just because it is not what they do but a more enriched Photo software ... Well Yes many would go for it no complex to what already exist. This topic is open to more adds that can help Devs to figure this out. Even if they don't implement it with 1.7 Beta cycle, it is something they may take serious and consider to fine tune and implement in coming version and we can help here. I'm only 1 Brain, yours are needed for more power, Step out of the Purist areas and come help build great with you original ideas. Hope i've posted in the right place and wish you all the best with improving Affinity. Blessings.
  17. Well ! i'm back with this other which i believe will help us all. Personally i like the way Serif made it cross-edit between all 3 piece of software but ... because there is always a but ! i Think the way it was and is managed is a bit counter productive or maybe not at its fullness. let me explain ! Here when you have a file opened on APub and want to do some work on it with ADesigner you can Edit with Designer then the whole project is transferred there leaving APub empty of everything but sometime we only want to edit a precise thing such as a smart shape etc... thus making the transfer of the whole project to ADesigner a kind of ... What if Serif could make it possible for us Click on the Object we want to edit and : 1- Right click on it then chose Edit with : Photo or Designer (depending of what we may want to achieve) 2- After selecting the desired object, we can also click the related persona (place where we want to edit) then have that precise thing migrated there for its edit 3- Should be the option we currently have, if we select nothing but click on one of the persona or chose to Edit with ... then whole project get migrated there for its further edit leaving APub Blank. The first 2 options should leave the core project opened in APub then only we should be able to edit the select object then click save to get its edit saved as an update withing the already opened and not closed project withing APub. The we can chose to edit only a part of the project without leaving the main tool we use and see the updates in real-time. Well, more geared peoples can add to this idea and help make this get better. Blessing !
  18. Hello Everyone ! Would ask for more Non-Destructive capabilities to be added to Affinity Photo. There are great initiative taken with certain tools using a blank pixel layer but i believe more needs to be implemented and documented. i'm first thinking about : The Tone Mapping Persona: this is a great place for making our work better but it's only works in a destructive way (maybe i don't how to do it) but it would be great if a tone map can be added to a mask or a blank pixel layer then we can chose from there to map only a certain area/object etc of our photo/picture/ Development Persona: Great place to spend time working on better picture but also everything there is destructive, here i propose that one applied, our development to appears on sub or top layers similar to filter or mask or whatever dev's may find then from there we can mask this or that or simply make it possible continue where we left it in case we click the development persona again. Same thing should be applied to Liquify persona too. in fact, more Non-Destructive is okay and will be well received. if anyone knows how to do deep Non-Destructive works and/or know where to find tutos that talks about, please share ! Blessings !
  19. Hello everyone ! Today i want to ask a question that can lead to something interesting for the Affinity suite (Publisher - Designer and Photo). Well, we have all seen the recent updates and some brought satisfaction when other just brought tears but ... that's not my point here ! Just wanted to know : How will you feel if Serif comes up with a Home Persona or a Home Button ? I'm asking because personally it would be very helpful to be able to see actual working/worked on or simply opened/created project on its specific section. I've had hard time to find recent projects etc ... well i make use of the recently opened stuff or recent documents (whatever it is called)... it's good but it's not enough and dedicated place where i would be able to view miniatures of recent documents (i would limit this to .Af files only - no other format) and just click it to open it knowing what i"m opening. if i'm not wrong it is possible on the iPad version (someone to correct me here if needed) so why not on the desktop version and the current Beta Cycle is the best season to test it. Blessings !
  20. Hey everyone! It would be great if there was an option within the export persona to make, for example, this: Group A (Group) Group 1 (Group) Shape 1 (Vector) Shape 2 (Vector) Group 2 (Group) Shape 3 (Vector) Shape 4 (Vector) Group 3 (Group) Shape 5 (Vector) Shape 6 (Vector) Group 4 (Group) Shape 7 (Vector) Shape 8 (Vector) Group B (Group) Shape 9 (Vector) to that: Group A (Group) Group 1 (Pixels) Group 2 (Pixels) Group 3 (Pixels) Group 4 (Pixels) Group B (Group) Shape 9 (Pixels) Best wishes, Shu
  21. Hey everyone! When I want to export layers, most of the time, I need the full file resolution. Exporting like that would be much more efficient if there was a shortcut for using the document bounds for the current slice or an option for automatically assign document bounds for new slices. Best wishes, Shu
  22. Hey everyone! It would be useful if there was an option to only show the selected slice. Personally, I need to export slices at full file resolution and having hundreds of slices on top of each other overlaps their header, so I cannot read it. Besides that, I ran into performance problems at about 100 slices, which may be somewhat better without so much overdraw. Best wishes, Shu
  23. Well ! The title says it all, Affinity Publisher is missing/lacking of the essential Export Persona. On a workflow like mine where i use Affinity Photo to process everything pixel, Designer to Process everything Vector and make them all converge to Affinity Publisher for project finalization. So, 80% of my exports happens there because Affinity Publisher does it better when it have to print stuffs ! Please bring a shiny but powerful export persona to Publisher.
  24. I use Affinity Photo and Designer from the very beginning, but I made a mistake.. Instead of reading https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/10119-official-affinity-photo-desktop-video-tutorials-200/ I started missing erround trying everything. That's why I say that I made a mistake. Now I follow the mentioned tutorial and I learn a lot. But I have a question: When I click on Develop Persona, I get the message 'Please select an RGB pixel layer before entering Develop' How do I do that, or what am I doing wrong? Thanks for replying.
  25. Hello, it would be great to have a variable for the color space (RGB, CMYK, etc.) of the document for creating the name of a file and the path where it is saved. That would be useful for example for exporting logos in various color spaces, for print, web, etc...
