  1. Can I create a multipage document that would output to a single multipage pdf document? Thanks
  2. Excuse my English. The way I share my files for someone else to edit, from AD to Corel or Illustrator is in PDF format. But when I export to PDF so that another user can work the file, the drawing and the text are rendered. And I'm going crazy. I have a file with an element (a layer with many groups of an AI converted to SVG), I also have a text to curves. Please help me, it is an urgent job for my company where I work. Thank you very much. 3. Version of Affinity Designer is 1.5.2.58 I needed to create a very simple artwork that is large in size (8100mm x 4300mm) and export it to a print-ready PDF. The vendor will use it to die-cut the artwork into 20 different pieces. Certainly easier than for me to create 20 different files and ensure each print out assembles correctly into one art-piece. I tried to export the finished work using PDF for print. It took a few hours but it finally completed. The pdf file was over 200Mb. Tried to open it using Adobe Reader, it shows a blank white page  I have done this several times before with smaller jobs and I did not face any problems or issues. But this is my first try with such a large size. Hope someone can advise if Affinity Designer can handle such a size or if there is something I can do to make this work (vendor waiting for my file :( ). Attached is the affinity file in question. Thanks for your kind attention! David Panel_clouds.afdesign
  4. Hi All, Have a user with the need to design a fillable PDF form. Looking for software to do that, something along the lines of Adobe Livecycle Designer, but without the cost or complexity. Do any of the Affinity products offer similar capability?
  5. Hey guys, I have created a logo and when i export it to PDF and open it the glitter tent opening i created from a shape turns into pieces, I've played around with layers and i don't know why its doing this? Then i just opened the exported SVG file of this and the whole glitter shape is gone , the white triangle which is the opening has also disappeared and the black tent its self is just there, why :( ? I'm sorry if this is a silly question but i have never had this issue before. Would it have something to do with the grouping? How ive exported it? What am I missing. Attached pictures are : 1 is a screen shot of my PNG file open which is clearly right and then the PDF open next to it with the glitter tent opening in pieces, and then the 2nd one is a screenshot of when i open the file in SVG ? Thank you and I appreciate anyone taking the time to read this and possibly help me out here xo
  6. Hi guys, I am experiencing crashes (Unhandled exception and then "Crash Reporter cannot find an error report to send.") when I try to export my work to PDF (for print). File can be dowloaded from my OneDrive: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Aqe__SfYQ9LXhNRC9x8rwSdUZh0HrQ
  7. Hi everyone, i just have a question about pdf filesize. I am in the transition phase from AI to AD and noticed that the exported pdf/x-3 -files from AD are MUCH larger than the ones from AI. For instance: i have a banner in ai - results in a 5 MB file. Now i redesigned the EXACT same banner from scratch in AD, export it as x-3 pdf and get an 50! MB file out of that. The banner incorporates an pretty big .afphoto file (placed in AD). I placed this in AI too (but as .psd) - both are pretty much the same filesize. The only way to get down the filesize of the pdf in AD is to lower the jpg-quality in the extended export options - but this results in the expected quality loss... (and is never getting near the filesize AI does) Am i doing something wrong or is there an obvious reason for that behaviour that i am just missing? Thanks for any enlightenment :-) cpoh
  8. I constructed a beautiful looking multi-micrograph panel in affinity designer after manipulating raw tiff images in affinity photo. The panel looks fine and is attached A screen shot looks find and is attached When I export to pdf in order to submit to a journal, dark shadows appear over parts of the figure. I tried copying each panel into a new designer document but that didn't work. I figure there is some bizarre setting i've toggled on for some of the panels? 9. Hi, I'm new to this forum and I haven't been able to find an answer to this particular issue. I'm working on a book cover in Affinity Designer and now I need to export my file to PDF for print. Due to transparency issues, I have to "flatten" the image before exporting. I found that to do so in AD, I first have to group and then rasterise. The only problem is that when I do this, the bleed is messed up. Instead of having the background extending into the bleed, it stops at the end of the document and the bleed is left as a white frame around the PDF (se attached picture). Is there a way around this? I can't change the dimensions of the document, and I need the bleed to ensure a correct print. Any suggestions?
  10. Export to PDF was working fine but towards the end of a session it stopped working. Progress bar doesn't progress and action has to be cancelled. Any thoughts? AD (Mac) v1.5.5 MacOS Sierra v10.12.3 L-0.8m-x-3.4m-Blade-Banner-Convex.afdesign
  11. Hi How to keep overprint in the imported pdf file? I placed PDF with applied overprint to strokes and fils to AD file. After export to PDF X4 overprints (except black) failed. Any idea how to prevent it? Thank you for your help in this matter.
  12. When exporting a file as a PDF I find that the output is always more bold than intended. JPEGs, PNGs, and other file extensions never have this issue but it always happens with the PDFs. Is there a way to save a PDF so this doesn't happen? I have tried different presets but nothing seems to correct it. Here's 2 image examples of the bolding issue.
  13. When exporting, you can only tick the box for bleed to be included. On an ongoing project, I need to export different formats with different bleed options, i.e. 1mm vs. 3mm bleed. I was used to set a global bleed of 3mm in Illustrator and change the value to my liking when exporting to PDF. With Designer I need to fumble with the document’s bleed in order to change to and fro with 1mm and 3mm. Allowing for setting a bleed size in export settings would save me time again, and make Designer a little niftier than it already is :) .
  14. Currently having trouble exporting a compatible 3 x 20 ft banner to the print department at Staples. Not sure exactly what settings are necessary to produce a file that will show up on their computers even for preview purposes. I can see a preview on my mac, but on their PCs the files show up as blank. I've included the file in case it helps anyone to provide an explanation. I assume I have the wrong settings, but am also concerned if the size of the file is causing this problem. I appreciate your help! Bobbys Sign Red Checkered.afdesign
  15. Hi, where has the PDF Import function remained? Import at all is no longer available. In beta this was included. Had used it myself. Important function. greeting
  16. Hello, is it possible to open a pdf in RGB instead CYMK (presetting is pdf)?
  17. I am a newbie. I recently purchased Affinity and Adobe CC subscription. Each time I try to open any .ai file, it defaults to Affinity PDF. I have to cancel it then go back to the original file and right click to manually open as Illustrator. Kindly take a look at the screenshot and show me how to turn off this default. Thank you!
  18. When you set up a bleed, why doesn't it show up in the work area...how does it export if you are exporting as a pdf? How do I properly set up the document bleeds for printing (PDF)?
  19. EDIT: The post mentioned below has been moved to the feature request forum, so this topic is not needed anymore. Can a moderator delete it? Improving the PDF output so that objects filled with gradients can remain as vectors. Currently they are rasterized or converted to non-native art. As discussed in this topic: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/35820-some-areas-will-be-rasterized-until-when/ Thanks!
  20. I hope I'm missing something that so far doesn't feel so intuitive... I'm trying to export a (scaleable) PDF for print, and am unable to figure out how to flatten the image prior to export so that all colour/effects are incorporated into the file (without raster). I've tried multiple export options (PDF), but it feels like I'm missing a step. Is there a way to 'flatten' the 'group'? And is a scaleable PDF possible via any export option so that the resulting image appears as vector? Thanks in advance.
  21. I am having problems exporting a file as a PDF. I use the export option, and select PDF for print and it creates and saves a PDF file, but when I try to view it in adobe. (And our printer tries to view it in his program), it is a blank page. (It is the right dimensions of the page at least) 3RiversforPrintingWetSizeExportTest.pdf 3RiversforPrintingWetSizeExportTest6.pdf 3RiversforPrintingWetSize.afdesign
  22. ORNAMENTAL.pdfI have tried to import PDF into Affinity Designer, which looks good, but leaves listing bullets with a strange "z" character. Any other opening option does not help. It is probably some font problem, but Affinity does not report any import font problem. What can I do to import properly? As an alternative solution to normal importing, is it possible in Affinity Designer to do "Replace All" on text? Attached is the problem printscreen and PDF document. Regards JohnT.
  23. Hi, The PDF import is great, except I often get PDFs without their respective fonts, and rather than have to pass them back and ask, or get them outlined, it'd be nice if we had the option to just import the flattened pages, like Photoshop can. This is something I don't see in a lot of packages, and it would be a really useful feature for me. Thanks, Mike
  24. Hello I recently bought the affinity designer, I had to export a PDF. file after finishing with the illustration... No matter on default or altered settings within the export properties, I was unable to succeed in exporting any form of PDF available in Affinity. Can anyone shed some light on whether its a bug or anything I might be doing wrong? N.B. First I tried to export my resume/Portfolio that maid me doubt if it because it contains some files such as JPEG, Text, Tiff, from previous Illustrator program, But I redrew some other vector art from scratch on Affinity, same Problem. Thank you for your time. Cheers
