  1. Project Brush Set 08 Organics Used as brush set to supplement Camouflage III Project Updated the brush set to version 2 Should work much better now! Changes/improvements as below Version 2.0 1. Removed old versions redundant now.. 2. Made significant changes to the brush dynamics and nozzles. All nozzles are now vector based replacing previous raster versions (as much as possible) 3. There is a significant number of new nozzles for the brushes Which means they are not like original sets.. 4. Made use of the 1.7/1.8.2 brush engine in AD/AP using subBrushes. 5. The old brush set was appearing darker and less intense with 1.7/1.8 update...I have fixed that with this version! 6. Updated the Sample sheets to newer (latest) layout..Sub brushes are displayed in red. 7. Introduced a lot of new base textures 8. Organics Set 01 replaces the original Project Brush 08 set. There are 3 x 30 in the full project Archived the Older Brush set and updated Library information Raster Brushes ProjectBrush 08 - Organics Set 01 V2.zip
  2. It would be very useful to be able to create vector patterns and brushes. Having to use rasterized images to use as pattern fills or brushes is not really acceptable and certainly not what I expect from a vector art program. I would like to create a vector graphic and be able to use it as vector art on strokes and I'd like to create vector patterns and fill shapes with this vector pattern.
  3. Hello, I can't find it so I assume I am the first to request it but it would be nice to have an effect added to the Fx list "pattern overlay": which would work pretty much like a colour or gradient overlay. For the moment I am using the Fill tool set to "bitmap", and import a pattern I have made myself (they are either distressed texture patterns - seamless - that I create in photoshop) or halftone patterns. I am sure there would be plenty of uses (that's one of the tools I am using most in photoshop when I am doing mock-ups) The fill tool options are a bit short for me, as I can't tweak the scale precisely (with numbers in %) I would also add the possibility to change the guides colours (like the grids) but I am not sure it's a missing feature or if it's just me who can't find it Many thanks!
  4. Created in an awesome app called JWildfire, Colour edited in Affinity Photo to define the patterns. Comparison
  5. I think it´s a quite good idea to have patterns. For example for CD´s, business cards, envelops, external labels and calendars. And also for these patterns matching print options specific for them.
  6. Up to now I have been creating a vector pattern in a drawing area and then pasting, duplicating, moving, etc. to spread the pattern over a larger area. Is there a faster way to create such a small sized pattern over a large area? I have been using the Affinity Designer Pattern Template to try to do this, but it only exports the single pattern I created. However, the pattern is spread over the entire preview area. I am not sure if the Affinity Designer Pattern Template is actually part of AD or is simply created by an user.
  7. Added 60/240 New Pattern Brushes to supplement original set [Pattern Brush Packs] Set A from Set 2 (30 Brushes) Set A from Set 3 (30 Brushes) Samples as displayed below PDF file for reference 2 Zip files Pattern Brushes PB 13-15.pdf PATTERNS-02 Set A.zip Pattern Brushes PB 03 A.pdf PATTERNS-03 Set A.zip
  8. I Have added a limited number of seamless (hopefully) pattern assets (30 in total) (import to asset Library) as a supplement to the Texture Paint Brushes: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/55202-texture-paint-brushes-group-1-4-120480/ and as a working asset library for creating vector patterns. (Found these really useful while working on the on-going Inktober artwork Conversions ) Usage 1. The patterns can be complex inside the rectangular containers but they can be broken apart for other use. (Like spreading a texture inside another object/masking/ pattern making) 3. Tiled patterns (They should snap together) 4. Re-colouring (select internal groups in layer panel to re-colour collectively) [not 100% success can be a bit of trial and error!] 4. As symbols should you choose to add to symbol panel Hope you find them useful! Updated versions (01 05 2019) TxP Ptn 01.zip TxP Pattern Assets 1.pdf
  9. Hi all I Have been working on a new set of Raster Brushes for AP +AD following on from the sample set upload over Christmas. Located here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/52527-texture-paint-mixed-nozzle-raster-brushes/ Again represented with base textures, seamless patterns and mixed vector/bitmap nozzles. 120 Raster Brushes from a set of 4 groups containing 480 Brushes (built from over 350 seamless textures and 220 vector nozzles). 30 Sketch brushes (with/without base texture)...small initial size Uploaded first set of each of the 4 finished brush groups + 1 Sketch Brush set Sample PDF sheets as attached Enjoy! 10. Hi all This is a new small sample set of brushes I have been working on for several months with base textures, seamless patterns with mixed vector/bitmap nozzles. It is a larger single set containing 30 raster brushes I have changed the numeric s slightly on the brush reference sheet (it's just a number!) Sample sheet is attached enjoy! TexturePainter - 01-S.zip TxP 1 Set 1.pdf Added A new version of the sample set using AD 1.7 Brush Engine Used #08 sample set Texture Paint Brush set as latest in sequence! 11. Texture Brushes [Hatching] Updated the brush set something I have meaning to do for a while! Changes/improvements as below Version 3.0 1. Removed old versions (original first sets x20 brushes!)..redundant now.. 2. Made some changes to the brush dynamics and nozzles. All nozzles are now vector based replacing previous raster versions (as much as possible) 3. There are significant number of new nozzles for the brushes (Particularly Hatching 01) Which means they are not like original sets.. 4. The previous 6 brush sets have been merged together (making things easier!) and there are now just 2 sets. 5. Made use of the 1.7/1.8.2 brush engine in AD/AP to allow rotation to be defined in the subset...So you can now adjust the created mesh pattern by rotating the nozzle in the sub-brush 6. Updated the Sample sheets to newer (latest) layout..Sub brushes are displayed in red. Version 2.0 (archived) With Zip containing a total of 60 brushes (6x10) and Sample Sheet (PDF) Changes for version 2.0:1. New larger texture nozzles 2. 40 new brushes 3. Modified Brush Dynamics (Flow, accumulation and rotation) 4. Reduced reliance on scattering and scale jitter Sample Sheets Updated Texture Brush Hatching Set Hatching 01.zip Hatching 02.zip
  12. Hello there! I want to share with all this nice community the latest Frankentoon's Franken-Pack: Pattern Painter. Pattern Painter is a cool collection of raster/pixel brushes that can be used either on Designer or Photo... and even cooler, you can use 'em on Photo for iPad :) I've always liked the idea of painting with patterns, even with software that allows to use pattern fills. I don't know, but I love the experimental and 'crafty' feel that is the joy of brushing in seamless shapes on your canvas. You can combine them, change colors on the fly, layer 'em up for some cool effects... If you want to know more, click HERE to get more info... (I've created a super fancy and colorful info page for you guys :D ) Hope you all like this pack!

  14. Hello Am working on a logo and was wondering how to 1. Give a group of (text or shapes) a perspective like Netflix Logo. I have AF photo and AF designer - however I wasn't able to effectively use the perspective or mesh tool for the same. 2. Can one fill a shape with patterns ? Here's part of the logo - I've converted it into curves - wanting to fill it with patters - say like stars or something around the spine... Idea is to make it look like fancy movie glasses Thanks
  15. I like to post on top of a colored area transparent black and white patterns, for example dot fields or hatchings. I cannot find patterns and how to fix them on top of colors.
  16. Hey got a quick question: Is there a way to create custom swatches especially pattern swatches?
  17. One of my new Instagram friends, Lindsey Slutz, @east_coast_charm has just released a course at SkillShare called "Creating Patterns in Affinity Designer. To launch it, she's making it free to the first 25 who sign up. (As of this writing, there are 9 spots left.) If there's still room, the link will be in her bio... https://www.instagram.com/east_coast_charm/ The class is short and the steps are very clearly explained. I think it's a great introduction to Affinity Designer, whether or not you want to create patterns. :) I really wish I'd seen it before I tried teaching myself A.D.
  18. A friend of mine is making a no-budget Star Wars fan film. He likes to make models of ships and sets but of course there were a few things that required some digital effects. One thing he needed (and he needed it in a hurry!) was an animated "hologram" of the planet Coruscant (a planet completely coved by a giant city). I used Affinity Photo making heavy use of the Pixel Tool and the Mirror Distort (I wish I'd kept better track of the steps, but it was late and I was working fast!). I made three or four different small patterns like the two shown on the left. Then I copy pasted the patterns several times changing their scale and distributing them around the canvas. Next I used the eraser to remove small and large sections of the patterns to make them look different. More layers and shifted copies. Then a layer of just straight lines connecting "hubs". Finaly the pattern was colour adjusted to be bright red (I didn't want to stare a bright red the entire time I was working on it). The pattern was UV mapped onto a sphere in Blender and then animated with a slow 360 degree revolution on a tilted axis. The animation was later composed over the live action shot of Princess Leia, who was filmed with a red light shining on her.
  19. I recently came across Artboard's pattern making capabilities. Not bad. I like the flexible parameters for dialing in the density of the pattern. It would be nice to have these features in AD sometime in the future.
  20. Hi! I am one of the movers from PS to Affinity ;-) There's one thing I am really missing: In PS I can easily fill areas with patterns. There are lots of patterns that come with PS, and I can find many on the internet and load them into PS. But, more important than that: In effects functionality I can use the STRUCTURE of patterns to overlay the other fx (like color, gradient, shadow etc.). This makes big letters look great (structured) in spite of just one color or a gradient. And I can adjust the depth and scale the effect. Great! Please add this pattern functionality, especially in the effects section, to Affinity products! :-) Best, Dietmar
  21. Fill tile patterns. Enjoy..
  22. Until a vector pattern function comes along, I have adopted this method to create high res raster patterns. I don't think you can see the differences in raster and vector unless you zoom in really close, but who's gonna do that to your artwork. Anyway, my video shows a simple pattern. Enjoy! https://www.dropbox.com/s/tnl1c7bun6lcuxw/Raster%20Pattern%20in%20Affinity%20Designer.mp4?dl=0
  23. Noticed that if I open a Illustrator file that has patterns in it, look to be "digitized" in AD. just curious if there would ever be a fix. Or at least a rasterization of the patterns once opened in AD?
  24. I would like to request a tiling pattern tool and also something akin to the blob brush, but with more control would be a very useful addition? Cheers!
