  1. I have a label design in Affinity Designer with a tiff image. Tiff image is colored with Pantone in AD. When I export to PDF, tiff color changes to CMYK. All vector objects with Pantone color export as expected, only tiff has the problem. Am I doing something wrong?
  2. Hi Is there a way to find the Pantone colors used in a Designer file? If a color is used from a Pantone Color Book in Designer - it gets listed in the recent colors. But I can't find a way to detect the Pantone color later in case I need it - Is there a way to do it?
  3. Good day, Is there a way to see what the Pantone colour value of an object is? I'm working in a "Print (Press-Ready)" document. I applied a Pantone colour, and also added the colour to the swatches panel. If I hover over that swatch later, how do I confirm what Pantone colour that swatch represents? Thank you.
  4. When adding a Pantone colour to a document, if added as a fill it will use the Pantone ID but if you add a Pantone colour as a global colour it will be given a generic name of Global Colour {number} i.e. Global Colour 1 It really should default to the Pantone ID name i.e. PANTONE 105 CP and if you want to rename it then do so but to remove a Pantone ID doesn't make any sense.
  5. Hello, I'm glad that affinity designer for iPad supports PANTONE libraries... However, I have a few issues that I would like to ask if it has any work around. Can I search the PANTONE library for a specific pantone? I already know the specific PANTONE code, but I don't know how to look for it in the PANTONE library. Currently I'm looking for PANTONE 8062, so I have to first look for the correct library (PANTONE + Solid Coated, I think), and then scroll through the PANTONE items. I still can't find what I'm looking for, and I'm not sure if any of the 2 steps I mentioned above are wrong. How do I make sure if the correct PANTONE was applied? Even if I manage to find the correct PANTONE code, I'm not sure if it was applied correctly. Currently, after clicking on a PANTONE I go back to the color wheel and it just points to specific color. I'm not sure if after saving, the correct PANTONE profile is saved as well I'm not sure what PANTONE was applied even... Image below is after clicking on a PANTONE color and exiting swatches bacl to "Colour" Accuracy on this specific task is important to me as a designer... Regards, Maco
  6. Pantone are offering three .ase (Adobe Swatch Exchange) files, free, one is new. https://www.pantone.com/eblasts/20190507/index.html These three palette files are good for trying out the Import Palette feature of Affinity Publisher. Readers are invited to post images using one or more of these palettes in this thread. William
  7. I have an imaginary, but not uncommon situation. I need to prepare and output a 5 color print job for the print shop. CMYK + Pantone. Currently, while working in a CMYK document, when I select and use a Pantone color in the document, Photo separates the Pantone into the CMYK Composite Color channels. This is wrong. It would be correct and intuitive if Photo automatically recognized, that a Pantone color had been used, and created a new separate 5th channel - Composite Pantone channel. I would like to suggest this as a feature. I'm aware of the Honor Spot colors in the PDF output options. I'm not sure what it does. And I'm not sure at all if the document will image correctly to PDF for a Print Shop.
  8. I have opened a 3 colour vector logo which I know contains a Pantone reference for each colour used but I am unable to find the Pantone colour by simply clicking on any of the 3 colours as you would when using Illustrator?
  9. Hi, Affinity imports EPS, PDF, AI ... They support Pantone and other color books... but what if they do not see the Pantone names in the imported PDF file? If you have a description of colors attached to a document - you substitute, if not - you guess... You can create a palette from a document, but the name of colors is not helpful... Corel, Illustrator can read colors names - Affinity can not (even from the PDF generated by them)? Anyone have some worked Adobe - Affinity workflow?
  10. Hi, A growing number of my customers are requesting paint colours from the colours used in their designs. My local Decorating Centre offer their own conversions for Pantone colours, however not all of these colours are exact, and offer their closest matches. Iv'e come across a colour pallet plugin which will help me with this problem, however I was not sure which of the six plugin options, if any, are compatible with Affinity products. Specifically Affinity Designer. I have attached a screenshot of the options as a file. If anyone can assist with my query, it would be a massive help. Thank you.
  11. Hi, I'm writing to suggest that a search box be shown anytime a pantone swatch picker is displayed. The picker is virtually useless without the ability to type a PMS number. Surprising that it's is not shown by default, and more surprising that it's sometimes not even available as an option. Would be a welcome addition. Thanks! Cleay.
  12. ON PANTONE BOOK IT IS WRITTEN SOLID AND CMYK IF ONE GIVES 123C THEN WHICH TO FOLLOW SOLID OR CMYK?
  13. Hello to all who think they can help, or if you think this might actually be a feature request! I'm trying to make the switch between Adobe and affinity, and I'm having some trouble with Pantone colours. Scenario: One of our clients has asked us to design a product, we've done all the work leading up to the prototype stage, and need to know the Pantone colour value of their logo to match some highlight parts to. We have a .png of their logo, now usually on photoshop I would use the colour picker and then go to the colour library and it would tell me which is the nearest Pantone to my selection. We all do this at my company from time to time but I can't find a similar feature on affinity, am I missing something or is this in the pipeline? I know there are websites which can convert RGB to Pantone etc but they're not the solution we're looking for considering we already had one! Hope someone can help David
  14. Hi I'm new to Affinity Designer, I've come across from Illustrator and I really like it, like many though I'm have teething problems and my Pantone library is one of them. When I import the latest Pantone library from Pantone Color Manager, I'm saving it as a .ase file but none of the swatches are being imported as a spot colour, well none of them have the spot icon on the swatch and they show the CMYK values? What am doing wrong? Thanks
  15. Dear Community, its my first question here and I'm a “newcomer“ of the photography-world, but I think that you have an answer for my question. We are a small company from Germany which are selling gift paper & -ribbons. At the moment we are modify our catalogue and online-shop. Caused by that we need a lot new photos of our products, which we release with PhotoKey 7 Pro (very easy and good) want to edit afterwards with Affinity. Certainly a lot of our products are similar but in different colors. We want to shot one or two main pictures which are colored afterwards in the certain color. We have already tried it with "recolor" or "HSL-Adaptation" but there it is only possible to change the color with Hue/HSL. Primarily we are working with Pantone for our products, but also have the option to use RGB/HEX/CMYK. My question now: How can I colorize our images in a precise color (Pantone/RGB/CMYK/HEX) “fast & easy"? Here you find an example for one of our products and I will upload some images which we already shot. http://geschenkpapierverpackung.de/geschenkbaender/chiffon-geschenkband.html (it is our old presentation which getting an update) Thanks in advance, Carl Buening P.s. the “green-screen“ & light situation is just a first try, it will be better later (but we like it already) 1. original image https://www.dropbox.com/s/vu5893p1pd1pt0r/IMG_9869.JPG?dl=0 2. released image with PhotoKey 7 https://www.dropbox.com/s/81jgvpu8qu75nba/IMG_9869%202.png?dl=0 3. colored image with Affinity (not precise enough) https://www.dropbox.com/s/w2qnt5583qgjiuk/probe.jpg?dl=0
  16. Hi All I'm importing a two colour pdf - 199C and 430U. The fonts (430U) - Bembo aren't on my new mac yet so the text won't show when I place the image - not even in the layers. The image part of the pdf - 199C shows. Is this a font issue or a mix in pantone - C's and U's? Can anybody out there come up with a simple explanation, I've recently started using Affinity Designer so a real newbie. Thanks in anticipation Vernon
  17. To preface: I am a very new user. The Pantone trademark is mentioned in the "About Affinity Photo" window but I cannot find a Pantone Color library in any of the drop-down menus. I also cannot find a duotone model for specifying pantone colors. This would most likely not be a problem if the final document would be Affinity Photo or Designer. It is when it's part of an InDesign document. One of the users mentioned Pantone cvs files. I can't find them. Also, the embedded plug-ins don't display in the drop-down menus.
  18. Hallo, ich habe folgendes Problem: Bisher habe ich mit Adobe IL Werbeanzeigen für Eine Fa. Erstellt. Dabei Muss Eine bestimmte grüne Farbe eingehalten Werden.
  19. Hi, I am currently on Beta, so it may be just solved. Problem is, when I export artwork created with Pantone to PDF (with honor Pantone color ON), it is converted to CMYK in the final PDF file (sample files attached, checked with pitstop which shows CMYK). Second is my question regarding overprints. I understand how to set overprint to a color, but is there any way how to see actual result (like when I have one rectangle 100% Cyan, second overprinted it with 100% Yellow, it should display nice green :-). Thanks for tips. BS Sava Kubias test-overprint.pdf pantone-test.afdesign
  20. As I've been working in Designer recently, it's a bit frustrating when adding a swatch from the Pantone set the default has the name of the next unused global color (e.g. "Global Color 7") instead of the name of the Pantone swatch. It would be great if all swatches, even if global, contained the name of their value so I didn't have to enter them manually (including CMYK and RGB swatches).
  21. Having a search box included in the standard color library panels is fantastic, but when editing a color's fill (for instance, replacing a pantone global color with another pantone color) is quite tedious without the search being included in that second overlaying library panel. Any chance it could be included there as well? :) It would also be really nice if the currently active color was highlighted or outlined slightly in some way.
  22. Is there a way to add a Pantone swatch from the Pantone palette into the document swatches and for it to retain it's name, rather than changing to 'Global Colour x'? Specifically relevant for spot colours from the Pantone Solid Coated & Uncoated books. eg if I select 'PANTONE 205 C; and then add it to my document swatches palette it will be renamed 'Global Colour 1'. If I export a pdf then the colour swatch in the pdf will also be called 'Global Colour 1' Do I have to manually rename the colour back to it's pantone name each time? Also, if I want to change the global colour to another Pantone colour , the edit colour palette won't let me search for another colour by name or show a list. I have to guess from the swatches which is my new colour. Is this a bug or am I missing something?
  23. Hi All I was wondering if somebody could point me in the right direction? When using the pantone dialog box, is there a way of looking or selecting an actual Pantone number, instead of taking a wild stab at roughly where it might be? Thanks Vernon
  24. Hi all. Maybe this is too much to ask at this time, and I know I've already mentioned this earlier, but I've been testing Affinity Designer periodically for proper spot colour gradient support (sometimes I miss a beta or two and I may skip the one that finally brings that feature to the table, hence my method). I cobbled up two similar files in Affinity and Illustrator, with gradients from spot colour to spot colour, spot colour to white, and spot colour to 0% opacity spot colour, and exported them to .PDF. For good measure, I also threw in a 50% opacity spot colour as a control swatch. After opening both files on Acrobat Pro and checking the Output [separation] Preview, I was a bit disheartened to see that Affinity still supports flat spot colour transparency only, whereas gradients are all converted/flattened into CMYK. For now, I can accept this omission, and the fact that it may be due to technical limitations in Affinity's engine or something, but I'm obviously expecting much more from it in the future (and that may include Affinity Photo duo/multitone support too, perhaps?), especially for colour-critical work like in logos, where tight budgets for print production more often than not call for the use of spot colours (and, yes, that also includes spot colour gradients). Though this would be fairly easy to correct (especially for simpler artwork) via a small trip through Illustrator before sending my work to the printing shop, I would really love to ditch it altogether from my workflow, and this would be yet another proverbial nail in its coffin. Can you comment on the feasibility of such a feature and maybe give us a rough ETA? Thanks guys. Once again, kudos for your great work! Pantone test.afdesign Pantone Test-AD.pdf Pantone Test-AI.pdf
  25. Eight flyers and an Brochure created in AD for a new client opening the UKs largest (I'm told) Parkour and trampoline park. Pretty scary sending these off to print, however 15,000 booklets came back looking brilliant.
