  2. This is a very good Capture One Pro to Affinity Photo Roundtrip tutorial by Thomas Fitzgerald... Enjoy ...
  3. Hello, This error often happens when I stitch panoramas of flat surfaces. I use this a lot in documenting paintings, murals, etc. 99% of the stitch will be fine, but there will often be a little section near an edge where it completely misaligns. I have tried to use the mesh warp tool, but can't seem to resolve it completely. Thank you for any help. John mural_photo_with_mistake.afphoto
  4. Today I tried to capture an image off a post-card which was too long for my scanner. So I thought I should try the "Stitching Panoramas" feature of Affinity. Here are the steps I used: Scanned left hand side of the image, which resulted in a .png image (my joice), Scanned rest of the image, which resulted in a second .png image, Read the two images into Affinity, Cropped the left hand side image as it contained some text which I was not interested in. This copping created, of course, two images of slightly different sizes. Next I went to File>New Panorama in Affinity. This opened the Panorama Stitching window. I then used the add option to add the two images. So far so good ..... Next I clicked on the "Stitch Panorama" button. This caused an error message which says "No Panoramas found". How come? What exactly makes a couple of images a panorama? Attached is a screen shot which shows that my two images appeared to be accepted. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
  5. I've been trying to Paste a "Tripod Cap" image over the tripod over the Tripod in a Panorama But can't return to Equirectangular Projection view after Pasting and Positioning it. Tried some Cloning over part of the tripod and was able to return to Equirectangular Projection view Why can't I Merge the image down and return to Equirectangular Projection view?
  6. If this is really not a current feature, please consider adding it to the list. If I'm mistaken and it is a feature, please feel free to enlighten me... often, I'm working with the components of a pano prior to stitching but it seems I must go to the finder/file-open to grab the images to be stitched. I'd like to be able to add one or more actively open assets in addition to grabbing any other elements from the filesystem.
  7. Hello Affinity Users Group - When making a panorama, is it better to start with raw files, or tiff files converted from raw? One of the reasons I ask is that, if you make a panorama from raw files, when you click Apply to get out of the panorama pseudo-persona, it kicks you out into the Photo persona, not the Develop persona, so you don't get the chance to even use the tools in the Develop persona. So it's not clear to me what has been done to the individual raw files, and if there was even any advantage to starting with raw files in the first place. On a related note --- if you open a raw file in the Develop persona and click Develop without making any adjustments, what specifically has been done to the raw file? Thank you.
  8. Hello Affinity User Group - I repeated the making of a panorama in Affinity Photo with the same image data but with two different image formats. The first time I started with raw files, and the second time with tiff files that were converted from raw to tiff using the Sony software "Imaging Edge." My camera is a Sony a6300. The panorama made from tiff files was noticeably brighter than the panorama made from raw files. Here are the questions that I have: 1. Why does this happen? 2. Is the histogram the only difference between the two panoramas? 3. Is one way better than the other; i.e., when making a panorama, is it better to start with raw images or tiff images?
  9. Hej there, I am using an i7 Skylake with an GTX950M and 16GB RAM, still I get very very slow panorama and HDR renderings from Canon CR2 files. At the same time, very little CPU capacity is used (~15-20 %). Tonemapping panoramas takes easily a complete afternoon! I would love to see an performance upgrade in future versions (even if I have to pay for it). Otherwise, Affinity Photo is close to irreplacable as the generated images are excellent. Even the output using the default settings is much better than for example Aurora HDR, imho. Sincerely, Benedikt
  10. 11. Is it possible to add 2D images and graphics (JPEG/PNG?) to a 360° spherical panorama captured by drone and created say in MS ICE/Hugin? The reason for asking is to add labels to buildings on an industrial site for identification. Thanks
  12. After the last update, Affinity is having troubles to correctly rendering panoramas. Attached sample image. Image Composite Editor stitches this same serie of images seamlessly.
  13. Good morning! Here is a panorama (stitched together a few photos to create it) of San Francisco and it's nice skyline. The photos were taken years ago and due to plenty of free time now I discovered it again and edited them into this panorama. Any feedback or input is welcome!
  14. My team and I work on 360 video content and often are required to do complex masking and removals on certain 360 equirectangular shots. Previously, we have utilised Photoshop's '360 Spherical Panorma' tool to do these removals. However, upon inspection, have realised that even when using 8K source images, Photoshop seems to drastically downsample the image quality in areas we have patched and corrected to the point that details become indistinguishable. This drastically reduces the image quality in shots and is very noticeable. Does the same issue occur in Affinity, or is image quality retained when applying patches/cleanup in the 360 Live Editing Tool? Any answers would be greatly appreciated
  15. From two .jpg images a simple panorama should be created. After the merge I was able to crop the panorama. Then I wanted to add some corrections (cloning, re-imaging) and found that these tools and others are not available. Why not? Then I wanted to undo the cropping (CTRL + Z). That worked too, but now the picture is frozen: Any attempts to use a different tool or make an adjustment failed. I had to kill the program via the Task Manager. Then came the query and I think it's good that there is this query. In this case I responded with "Cancel", whereupon the window was closed. Danach kam die Abfrage und ich finde es gut, dass es diese Abfrage gibt. In diesem Fall habe ich mit "Abbrechen" reagiert, worauf das Fenster geschlossen wurde. Then I restarted AP 1.7.2.414 Beta and again came a query. Also, I think that's very good, that not everything is lost after a chrash. Darauf habe ich AP 1.7.2.414 Beta neu gestartet und wieder kam eine Abfrage. Auch das finde ich sehr gut, dass nach einem Chrash noch nicht alles verloren ist. I responded with "ja =yes" and could easily continue working. I enclose the DMP-file with the crash-report.
  16. Hi, I am having a problem with panorama stitching. I want to create a panorama of a waterfall out of 20 or so images. While most of the images fit in correctly, there is one that Affinity Photo does not recognise. It has quite a decent overlap but most of the photograph depicts water and therefore as it moves across different photographs the program most likely cannot detect any common control points on the surrounding images. While there are similar features (rocks, wave pattern, foam shapes) on the image and the surrounding ones, I am unable to stitch this panorama in full - water is a bit tricky for panoramas. Is there a way of manually adding the photograph into the panorama and setting the control points/location/tweaking it?
  17. Hallo and happy new Year! When I stitch a panorama an use the Crop-Tool there are 2 Issues: 1. After using the button "An gedeckter Fläche zuschneiden" (I think in english it's called: "crop to opaque") the Grid always behaves like "original size" no matter which mode is selected. I cannot move single points without changing the others. In earlier Program-Versions it worked correctly. 2. If I klick on the Button "Vorgaben" ("settings" between "cancel" and Mode) Affinity Photo crashes.
  18. Hi all, Hopefully I have posted this in the correct place, although I'm not convinced I have, apologies if so. I have a problem with a panorama I have made. I didn't think to take a second row of photos for the sky, but didn't like the balance of the picture once I had blended the pano. As such I extended the sky vertically in affinity, however this has created an odd looking sky. The real solution would be to get it right first time; I will make sure to take more than one row next time, even if it is just blank sky. Out of interest though, is there anything I can do to homogenise the sky so it's not separated into the vertical zones as below? I believe the zones have been created by the colour/intensity of the lights from the buildings. Origional pano, screenshot from capture one: Pano with sky extended, screenshot from Affinity: Workflow: the pano is comprised of 17 images, all shot in RAW (3.2 secs ISO 100, F5.6) and WB corrected to same value in capture one 20, then files exported as 16 bit TIFFs to PTGui where the pano was stitched, then opened in Affinity to use Mesh Warp to adjust perspective and in-painting to accommodate the warp. The sky was then extended, as described above. Thanks in advance, Freddie
  19. Hi, I've a mobile shot panorama photo and when this photo with affinity, it closes automatically. No error / report on the screen. please can you help. PS - cannot upload the photo, attached screen print.
  20. Evening everyone, This one is doing my head in, I'm a new user of Affinity so I may be missing something very simple... I'm trying to create a panorama out of three photos I took of a storm front on Friday evening but once I click the button to stitch them it says no panorama found? I have used Affinity Photo to create one other pano previously to which it worked incredibly well. For some reason, I can't upload the images (roughly 5.8mb each) receiving a -200 error, so have provided a screenshot of the images that I am trying to use. As you can see they should be able to be stitched together and it *should* make a reasonable photo, does Affinity have any limitations on Pano's (eg. must comprise at least 5 images)? Hoping i'm just doing something wrong... Windows 10 version Cheers, Andrew.
  21. The picture is a panorama made from 27 TIFF images totaling about 2 GB size. AP did a fine job, fast, with such a large total file size and number of images. cheers, unni
  22. Hi Affinity team. During the last days I tested the Windows version of Affinity Photo 1.5.1 and checked out those parts most important to me: RAW processing, HDR/Tone mapping and stitching Panoramas. (The video tutorials are great for newbies concerning your software.) I am happy to see all these features under a common hood and working reasonably well (although there are issues like the wrong histogram displayed in Develop persona which will refrain me from using Photo as default RAW software for now.) What I want to achieve: For years now I'm accustomed to create HDR images from a single RAW file instead a series of JPG or RAW files. The benefit is that there are no problems with motion (and thus ghosting) in the image, and no softness as a potential side-effect of the automatic alignment of handheld shots. Today's DSLR cameras create RAW images which can easily compensate 3 EV steps. (Depending on sensor size and ISO, the downside can be higher noise in dark areas, but that's acceptable for me.) My conventional approach is to develop 3-5 differently exposed JPG images (usually with different noise reduction settings) and then creating the HDR from these. This approach is very cumbersome with Affinity Photo, which does not even remember the RAW conversion settings I last used by default. Once a RAW file is developed, the Develop persona is closed and I have to start over for the next exposure. (In contrast to a dedicated raw converter like Canon's DPP or Nikon's NX-D where this is a no-brainer and easily done.) But maybe Affinity has a better approach? What if you could develop the raw file and apply a tone mapping without JPGs inbetween? Lets see, Photo Persona works in 32 bit, and RAW files can be developed to 32 bit HDR. Sounds promising. 1. I import the RAW file, disable applying the tone curve and leave the exposure-related settings untouched. 2. Then I put the developed 32 bit image into the Tone mapping persona -> Voilá, a developed HDR image. And what if I have a panorama of single RAW images which needs HDR processing? 1. You can start a "New batch job", select the RAW files to process and choose EXR as output format. 2. Then you can continue creating the panorama with "New panorama" and select the EXR files as shown in the HDR panorama video tutorial. 3. After the panorama has been stitched, it can be tone mapped in the Tone Mapping persona. Cool - this is a real time saver and more flexible regarding adjustments compared to my previous workflows which would mean first tone mapping every HDR image and then stitching the (hopefully equally exposed) JPGs together. Matthias.
  23. after processing 360 panorama (very good result!) I get always a vertical line at the joint of the image. it si not in the unprocessed panorama.. also color right and left from line is quite different. the line itself is removable applying inpainting brush tool in live projection -> equirectangular projection. question is how to get uniform color on both sides. if there is a better workaround than inpaint brush tool please tell ma. thx a lot! cris
  24. Hello from Hamburg, please help me to fix the following error: no panorama found no panorama found.bmp
  25. Hello, I am new to affinity, I have a macbook pro 2012, 2.9hz, 8g Ram, with mac os 10.15.1 catalina. I did a lot of panorama with lightroom, and try to do so with affinity. Must of my pictures are in RAW format, Affinity work well to do the preview, but when I ask to create the panorama, it is very long, and crash everything. Do I need to change affinity setting due the size format ? Please anyone help me, I had maybe 6 panorama waiting. You can see a exemple of my previous picture with lightroom.
