  1. I often find that I have to use a shortcut to toggle open/ close a studio panel twice (on Windows) if I have already docked the studio. For example, if I have the character studio and paragraph studio docked and use the shortcut to quickly access the paragraph studio, I close it by accident. Therefore, I would like to propose the shortcut to first activate the studio if it is already visible, because more often than not do you use the shortcut to access a studio than to close it. Only if the studio is visible and active, should the shortcut be used to close the studio.
  2. Kapture 2023-03-16 at 05.38.54.webm Howdy, the floating panels appear to act on their own accord in MacOS. Take a look at the bottom right corner of the attached video. Thanks so much! | Designer 2.0.4
  3. BUG - tested on a new document New Document Create a Text box Double Click on Text to highlight Right click and select Interactive > Add Anchor The selected text is used as the Anchor text Check in Anchor panel that Anchor is created Double Click on Text to highlight Right click and select new option Interactive > Anchor Properties Edit the text Check in Anchor panel - another Anchor is created - so two Anchors even though you intended only one but edited it. See screen shot showing this stage. Double Click on Text again to highlight Right click and select Interactive > Delete Anchor Check in Anchor panel and the first Anchor with original text has been deleted. Each time you edit Anchor Properties a new anchor is created - so you must continually delete the old one. The correct behaviour should be that when you select Anchor Properties that you are changing the existing anchor - and not just piling a new one on top of the old one. The correct menu item name to edit an Anchor Property should be Edit Anchor Properties - so that it is clearer that this is where you can change Anchors. FEATURE REQUESTS 1. Alternatively you should be able to edit an Anchor Property in the Anchor Panel. 2. The Anchor Panel should display the Anchors in the page order on which they appear - not alphabetically. Or alternatively there should be a sort option. 3. When you select Export Anchors as Bookmarks in the PDF export dialog it would be nice if this was persistent and when you restart Publisher that this option is remembered. The reason I use Anchors at all is in order to create Bookmarks in PDF exports - this is a requirement for submitting PDFs to governmental bodies in my country. This is the main reason I use Publisher in fact - so I can generate the book marks and manage the pages in my submissions. It would be even more helpful if there was an option for Anchors act as Page Bookmarks - some PDF readers scroll to the text that the anchor is attached to - so if the anchor is applied to text at the bottom of the page (because that's there the text is in an illustration) the PDF reader scrolls too far.
  4. This is a suggestion/request to bring Publisher's Text Frame panel into Designer. Once you convert a shape into a text frame in designer, there is no way to manage its properties (body and line color, line width, margins). Up to a point that when I need a text frame with certain characteristics I create it on Publisher and copy-paste into Designer (Or move it to AFP modify and return to AFD for modifications) I use Designer a lot to create complex flow charts and graphics, where there are a lot of text frames with colors, line width, margins… and the lack of a way to manage these text frame characteristics is exasperating. And it will be automatically solved by simply bringing Text Frame panel to Designer, as both apps use the same text frame format. It is an incomprehensible omission.
  5. A MacOS Automator service plugin/workflow, programmed by yours truly: “Activate All Affinity Studio Panels” FAQ: What does it do? It contains a nifty AppleScript code that goes through the menu View > Studio, checks for all panels without a ✓ check mark and activates them all at their respective last position (if any). That's all. Why does it do that? Because otherwise you'd have to repeatedly open the menu and the submenu again and again, activate each panel one by one. Which is – pardon my French – a major p.i.t.a. As in, literally, a pain in the arm. Been there done that. How do I use it? Upon installation in ~/Library/Services (see included ReadMe) or in /Library/Services if you want to activate it for all users, you can run it from the Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher menu > Services > Activate All Affinity Studio Panels. You can assign a custom keyboard shortcut via System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Services. Heck, you can even disable it from there if it annoys you. (But why should it? Hey, it's a Good Thing™!) It will only do its Good Thing™ while one of your Affinity apps is running frontmost. Should you accidentally launch it while using another app, it will only inform you that it can't do anything. Can it do any harm? I don't think so. But if you're paranoid, open the *.workflow document with the Automator app and see for yourself. It's open source. What does it cost? It's free as in beer. That is… feel free to contact me if you'd like to buy me a beer. I won't say no! Where can I get it? loukash.com/download What's there? You'll be able to download a file named "Activate_All_Affinity_Studio_Panels_v1.0.zip". Inside the ZIP archive, there are two files: • Activate All Affinity Studio Panels ReadMe.pdf – which you should read, obviously… • Activate All Affinity Studio Panels.workflow That's all. My website runs on Wordpress, so it will automatically attempt to set a few cookies. Feel free to reject them. Enjoy!
  6. When making changes to the input values in the character and paragraph studios, I would be nice they would behave like other input values and update/display the changes live in realtime. As is the case with color panel and guides manager, etc. It is as if when using the arrow keys to change character and paragraph related values, the input field "loose its selection". Where if you do the same thing with other input fields, the active input keeps the selection and therefore changes the value... Sorry for the bad terminology around selection and active input values, I don't know the exact term. Any for clarity I've attached a short video. 17_36.38-1.mov
  7. It would be really helpful if it was possible to adjust font size, leading and tracking etc. using the up arrow and down arrow on the keyboard.
  8. Create a new blank document View > Studio > Table (this works as expected, producing a floating panel - see step 1 below) View > Studio > Table Formats (this groups the Formats panel with the previous floating Table panel, see step 2 below) View > Studio > Table Formats (to remove/hide the formats panel: this doesn't restore the height of the remaining panel and the top is clipped - see step 3 below) For a more dramatic effect, substitute the smaller Anchors panel for the Table Formats panel to produce the result shown below at step 4. The full height of the remaining panel can be restored by finding the sweet spot at the top and dragging the edge up - but that can be fiddly (at least, it's fiddly on a 4K screen, since the sweet spot is very narrow).
  9. Scrolling up and down in some of Affinity Panels is a great feature. It does not appear to work in the Character, Paragraph, etc panels. Am I missing something or is this something you are working on? I get so used to using it where I can that I must back up for a moment when in the non-scrolling panels and realize that I must pull down the side bar.
  10. Hello, I am a designer YouTuber from Indonesia, I want to ask about how to mention the tools in Right Studio. For example, color is it called "Color Studio" or "Panel Color"?, or another example in the stroke tool is it called "Stroke Studio" or "Panel Stroke"? or maybe there are other names that are more appropriate. Best Regards, Sudarmin damir
  11. I posted this in the general forum on questions but thought that perhaps it belongs here as a request. - - - PROBLEM: Two tiny spaces remain at the top left of a group of multiple panels, the group being kept narrow on the side of my screen. The very top left space closes the group, and the other allows me to move (reposition) the group. Unless I am very careful I often miss the "move" the panel and hit the "close: space," thereby force me to reconstruct it via VIEW. This stops work flow and is frustrating. See my snap below. I want to keep such groups narrow in order to have more screen space for the document. SUGGESTED SOLUTION: This problem could be solved if Affinity's programs were to have a preference that would allow the user to opt for an on-screen warning to be issued (with a "yes" or "no" choice) if the user accidentally clicked on the "close" space rather than the 'move" space. It would save a lot of time, both in carefully placing the cursor in the exact position between closing and moving before clicking, and in reconstructing the groups panels if a slight wrong positioning accidentally closes rather than in the small space for moving the group.
  12. I like to proppose anadditional feature for Affinity Photo, which I was missing: arangement of Brushes, color swatches, styles and so on in categories and subcategories, like the assets.

  14. Hi there! I use a dual screen setup (Win 10 - 20H2, Auros RX5700XT graphics card, latest drivers as of 5.12.2020) and decided to move some panels to the second screen. Among them is the textstyle panel. While changing the size of any panel works fine on the second screen, any relevant change of the textstyle panel freezes the app. No crash report, no error message. Here is my recipe: Create a new document of any size and format or load an existing one. Drag some panels out of the apps main window and place them on the second screen. Adjust the size of any of them, e.g. the pages panel - everything works fine. Resize the textstyle panel in height by clickdraging the bottom of the panel downwards - boom! App freezes. By the way: Designer is affected, too. With Designer it is even worse: Sometimes just clicking on the title of the panel causes Designer to crash. And in both cases it is only the textstyle panel that causes the freeze (at least in my case). Is that a know problem or just limited to my pc? Best, Volker
  15. Hello, I have a problem. I want to create a PDF for printing. The background should be transparent except where the photo is. The photo should be backed with the special color "Spot1". Can someone explain how to do this?
  16. Photoshop/Adobe set a standard for all apps, apparently, by putting the vertical toolbar on the lefthand side of the app. This is wonderful--for left-handed users. Being right-handed, I moved and docked the toolbar to the "panels" window on the right side of the app many years ago meaning I no longer had to move the mouse cursor back and forth cross screen which is, IMHO, wasted motion. I do the same in Affinity Photo but the tools do not dock (become "sticky") to the panels window. This suffices BUT my request is that in a future release of Affinity products you make the toolbar, and similar windows, dockable to the panels window or any other windows within the app. Perhaps southpaws would also like to dock the panels to the toolbar on the left side of the app. I think this *might've* been suggested a year-and-a-half ago but since it still hasn't been addressed, I thought a refresh might be in order. Thanks!
  17. A while back I referred to this in passing in a thread here — I kept finding that my custom tool panel (Character + Paragraph + Text Frame + Transform) would vanish unexpectedly. I'd have to reassemble the custom panel all over again. But it wasn't a bug after all — they didn't "just vanish." I use Alt+F4 to exit Affinity Publisher. But it turns out the program has been using the keystrokes to close the front-most window, which always seems to be that custom tool panel. Using the keyboard shortcuts feature to bind Alt+F4 explicitly to the Exit command has fixed this. Alt+F4 no longer affects the custom tool panel.
  18. Hi, I've been working with Affinity Designer for a few weeks now. Coming from Adobe Suite CS6 there's is a lot I like about Affinity Designer, but also a few things that would make working in AD just that little bit better. One of those things is that Align and Distribute doesn't have its own panel. Maybe it Align and Distribute could be combined with the Transform panel (see image) ... or just could have a panel on it own. greetings, Ivo
  19. Affinity's use of the mousewheel is very helpful indeed. Adding this feature to panels such as Character and Paragraph would speed up ones work flow. Currently I must move my mouse over to these panels and manually scroll down.
  20. Hello Affinity Team, Thanks for creating a great product! There is a feature I miss. Being able to show more panels at the same time. This would be really, really, really useful, for example when trying to add a symbol to specific layer. If I would be able to see both the symbol panel and the layers panel, I would be able to drag and drop the symbol in the right place. It's a big pain to have to select a layer, or group of layers and then try to add the symbol to the canvas, as the symbol never ends up in the right place. Also, it would be useful to be able to see more panel, when having to switch tools which are located in different panels. Now, as opposed to the desktop version of the app, which has this feature, you need to click and touch a lot! Is there a way to get this feature? Best, Dan
  21. The last 1.8.2 update has broken the use of tab to navigate the values of the color panel. You can use the tab to go to next field, but as soon as you type a new value, tab stops working until you manually click into a field again. This worked fine in 1.8.0 and 1.8.1. It seems that tabbing after typing the value deselects the current field instead of selecting the next one. Setting cmyk values is now a slow tab-type-click process. Other tab-navigable panels work fine (for example, transform panels) By the way, this is a good chance to remind you we'd love to have tab-navigation in all panels, not only The Chosen Ones. 😉
  22. Please excuse me if this has been requested. Please consider option to change Adjustments/Filters panels to List. The panel fly outs are pretty, but take up a lot of limited space on the iPad. Thank you.
  23. Customizing the studio space is very important, especially for small screens. Illustrator has quite an awesome feature that affinity designer is missing. You can create a second studio with minimized (icons only) panels that pop-open when clicked. This saves a lot of space but makes them much easier accessible compared to only the tabs in affinity (often you even have a scrollable tab bar). The benefit is that you can have your big panels on the very right and expand one additional panel on the inner right studio. This males working soooo much easier. It would be great if you could add this feature.
  24. Hi Affinity team! I worked for years on Adobe CC and I transitionned recently to the Affinity suite (death to Illustrator!). I work on a big screen and I'm used to have several layer of panel clipped on each side of my screen, like in the exemple. I find it really convinient when you want to access a lot of fonctions really fast and, more important, keep those fonctions in the same place at all time. Sadly that feature isn't part of the affitinty apps. You can clip just one row of panels to the sides of the screen, the second row just floats and I tend too drag it by mistake. I would love to have this feature in affinity, it's one of the few problems I have with your apps. Thanks !
  25. Hello I have a problem with studio panels. I use three monitors on Windows 10. Every time I arrange the panels on the second monitor and restart Affinity Designer or Photo, they are unordered. Sometimes the panel is missing and sometimes they all move to the third or first monitor. I can't solve this problem. Is there any way that studio panels will always stay in one place? greetings Michael
