  1. Hey, please make the Resource Manager available to the Studio palettes for better integration in the UI. I need it right by my side all the time like the Layers and Pages panels. Please also add more options to pieces of information like Color Space, Transparency, Rotation, Dimensions, File Path etc already in the list. Cheers Benny
  2. Doesn't seem to be possible - or am I just being stupid …? Also could there be a way - if there isn't already to layer shapes on top of a photo…? I'm redecorating my bedroom at the moment and I've laboriously converted all the colours I'm considering into RGB and Hex values, I just need a way of playing around with them. I don't see any way of adding additional swatches to a palette (it is almost 03:30 though, but I do better at night). Yes, I know that screen colours are not going to be the same as the actual paint (wouldn't it be wonderful if there was a way of reconciling them somehow, some kind of intermediary colour space).I've already found that one green I was considering was far bluer 'in the flesh' than it was on Dulux's website.
  3. I keep color swatch books for all my clients. Coming from Adobe, I can just create a swatch collection for each client and upload to Creative Cloud. Then when I need to work on something for that client I simply load their folder and have all my swatches ready to use. I thought I could do the same thing with Affinity's Palette system, but I am running into issues. In order for a Palette to be available to all Affinity programs, I have to make System Palettes. It works, except when it comes to saving Spot colors (I need a set of Pantone colors). When I try to save a Pantone swatch in the System palette, the swatch gets saved to a new Document palette instead. This does me no good because next time I start a new document, I have to go looking for all the swatches. Furthermore, I cannot make them Global. Am I missing something? Or will I have to create an Application palette each time and export that to import into the other 2 programs every time? That will get annoying if I have to update their color schemes down the road.
  4. Dear Team! So far, I do love your apps :-) One thing I would love to see is a common color swatch/palette management. In other words, having one common color palette database used by all the programs would help to keep consistency. Maybe that's somehow possible in future versions. Cheers, Chris
  5. Since this in beta, I'm ok to reset the program from time-to-time and start fresh test-files, so that my reported errors are clear and real. But, as I thought I would beg you much later for this feature, now would be a great time to be able to save and restore my palettes! My use-case involves working on a dual-monitor-setup in my main office but sometimes I use the MacBook alone and want to minimise all my palettes, or minimise the amount of open palettes, IN ONE CLICK. Another use would be for different work-stages: For example, I'm building a raw layout/wireframe and only need the pages and frames-tools, another time I'm working on typography and want to immerse myself in text styles, glyphs, character styles - maximise everything type!. Lastly I would make a "workspace" for final-work/proofing/exporting, like sort-of exists already in Designer (the Export-Persona) .. edit: AND THERE would be a great place to factory-predefine a "Presentation-Persona", as requested by many (and me) -> hide ui + fullscreen + hide edges and special characters + smooth page transitions all with ONE click or keypress!
  6. Hey everyone i have found there is a great stand alone app on the web that's can be helpful to all designers and photo designer. it's called ColorWell. it's works very well and help generate palettes of color for a project on the go like the Adobe product doest but the must is that this software works offline. it's may help for demanding peoples when you can't results you want with the functionality already implemented in Affinity Designer. i myself work with both solution they help balance and do a better job of color choosing. Though this may help someone out there
  7. It’s possible to make custom palettes where I can include and order my favorites brushes? thanks! c
  8. Hello, I'm a freelance concept artist, matte-painter and illustrator and have been living with an orphaned copy of Photoshop CS5 that I purchased many years ago. As my business depends heavily upon this software and I do not, under any circumstances wish to migrate to Adobe's Creative Cloud subscription service (a preference to purchase and own outright, the fact that a subscription model is costlier over time and Adobe's monopolistic price gouging practices) I've been seeking an alternative. Affinity Photo may just be that replacement which I can run concurrently with CS5 and over time, replace it altogether. Also, the market is in desperate need of comparable and competitive alternatives to Adobe's suite. I'm very impressed with what I've experienced thus far after downloading the trial and with a new computer system (Win 10 Pro) arriving next week I intend to purchase it and most likely Designer. There are a few things that I would like to see that would help with workflow tremendously. Bear with me as I'm still coming to grips with Affinity Photo. I would like to see it possible for the palettes to be collapsible into docked icons as is possible with Photoshop. I would like to see the right mouse button have contextual functionality depending on the tool selected - for example, the possibility to 'Deselect' or Invert Selection' et al when you right click on a selection. it feels constraining and retards workflow not be have a contextual right mouse button option I would like to see it possible to make the horizontal toolbar more customisable - adding a drop-down brush editing palette for example. That's about it for now. However, i will be purchasing and joining the Affinity family. Thanks for creating such a quality product that is getting very close to rivalling Photoshop, and for offering it at such as competitive price. .Grant
  9. Hi, in our company, we are two designers and use both Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo. I have created a couple of palettes and assets and I want to share and synchronize them between all four applications. I know it's possible to export a file and import it in another app. But if I add something to my assets or palettes, it would be nice to automatically update them in other apps as well :) Thanks.
  10. It would be great to have the possibility to minimaze the palettes. Every pallet could have an icon and this icon would be showed when the palette is minimazed. Actually it should be like in Adobe (or even better). ;)
Hi, In this Affinity Photo Tutorial, I show you how the gradient tool works. I create a metal gradient, set colors, fades, save it, create palettes and show how to import or export. In future, I will provide some metal gradients on our website. Farbcodes für den Beispiel-Verlauf / color codes for the example of metal gradient: (von links nach rechts / from left to right) 1) #1C1C1C 2) #FFFFFF 3) #A0A0A0 4) #3D3D3D 5) #272727 6) #595959 7) #1C1C1C Viel Spaß Euer Jack Video-Tutorial auf YouTube
  12. Is there any way to group a number of palettes, undock the group, and then toggle the group on/off with a shortcut key? For example, I would like to group Histogram, Scope, and EXIF in one undocked palette that I could toggle on/off as needed with a shortcut key for the group. That would make it very easy to have a clean uncluttered workspace while offering easy access to tools and palettes with a minimum of keystrokes. There are other groupings that I would like to set up but having to call each one individually is a royal pain. Am I overlooking something? Is there a better way to accomplish this?
  13. I'm interested in recreating digital art from the time when the colour palettes were very limited. I'd like to be able to customize my own colour profiles (of like 16 or 256 colours), or at least use some of the common ones from the 80's and 90's era. I'd alo want to experiment with different dither types to use them as visible effects in the image. The Posterise effect didn't seem to implement the kind of dithering I'm looking for. Are these kind of techniques possible at all in AD?
  14. For the way I work, I need to have the layers palette expanded vertically as long as I can get it. This way I can "drill" down to the specific sub-sub layer with a minimum of fuss, i.e. scrolling. So is there a way to have a second column "docked" to the main palette column? This way the document window will be sized to fit the remaining area in fullscreen/attached mode. That's how I have my UI for Manga Studio setup and it works quite well. This way I can have layers and the transform palette in one column and Colors, Effects and the Navigator in the other column. I can see that on some MBP's this would take up way too much Screen Real Estate, but on my 27" iMac, I got room to spare. I'm posting this in Questions, because there may be something that I'm unaware of (some undocumented or buried method to to this second column docking). In which case, I'd appreciate know how to do it. If it isn't then I'll repost this in the Feature Request section. Thanks!
  15. I noticed when I move over to the draw persona that the colour, line, swatch, and brushes palettes vanish. I was wondering why this is? It doesn't seem like any of the tools are raster specific, in fact those tools seem to be available under the fill and line boxes on the left side of the screen when working in draw persona.
  16. Hi all! I've been meaning to ask: do you have plans to make all the interface elements dockable (to screen edges, that is) *even* in separated mode like in CS? It's not a big deal having AD (and, I'm thinking, APub as well) in a single, consolidated window, but what about Affinity Photo, when it finally comes? Much like in Photoshop, I'm hoping you can drag and drop layers from one document to another and, as such, a unified, tabbed interface suddenly stops making much sense. However, not being able to maximize/zoom a window without it going behind the palettes, tools and toolbars (like in CS apps), could become a bit of a bummer. I am aware that many of the UI issues suffered by CS apps (ID CS6, I'm looking at ya!) come from badly implemented dockable palettes and its interactions with subsequent OS X versions and their functions (namely, Spaces), but… Are you taking that risk and thinking about it? It's just that I can't seem to find any specific mention to palettes and Separated Mode minutia in your roadmap. Oh, by the way… I know this is becoming a running theme, but… As much I enjoy at least being able to “window-shade” floating palettes into an horizontal strip, that is a bit '90s-ish. Adobe really nailed it with the iconized palettes in vertical, collapsed strips. That, alone, and the ability to dock them left *and* right (as you can see on the enclosed screenshots from Ai and ID), is a massive space saver. Are you planning anything along those lines?
  17. It would be great if we could import palettes from AI and ASE files. Or otherwise know what format we can import them from. EPS?
  18. I'm a big fan of most of how AD works and looks now, but there are some functions i'd love to see: Tabs in 'separated mode' windows. Sort of like browsers work: you can have any amount of windows, with any amount of documents/tabs in them. Fullscreen mode to maximise working space. Same for Hide palettes/UI shortcut, sort of like TAB in photoshop. Dark menubar for OS X Yosemite. Custom palette designer: put random icons into a new, custom palette. I'd love to combine most used toolbar, transform, align and boolean icons into a single palette. Keyboard shortcut remap: tools (!), functions etc. Updatable smarter embeds: place document A into a document B, edit A and it's updated inside B. And a really big one: Automation. Think actions in photoshop: record any buttons/shortcuts/canvas operations into a macro and play it any time using a shortcut. Could be only menus at first implementation, then add palette buttons and then canvas operations like drawing, transforms etc. Keep up mind-blowing work you've been doing on AD, going at this rate this is going to be a no-brainer first-day purchase for any graphic designer.
