  1. Here is another painting in acrylics produced using DAP Pro 7 and interfacing with Affinity Photo. I have included a video of the painting process along with the resulting multilayered Affinity Photo file so you can see how the painting comes to life with human-assisted AI. Play with the Affinity Photo file to your heart's content to see the layering involved and each painting stage. This is a very productive tool. 2. Hello! This was my first attempt at a completely digital 'painting', which I ended up using stop-motion animation to turn into a short video. The artwork was created in Affinity Photo using the NB Master Watercolor brush set. Fox is actually the name of our pet Cockeral and Isla is my daughter. It was originally part of a larger piece which included a full portrait of Isla, but in the end, I decided to spin it out into a standalone piece. The portrait is ongoing. A higher-resolution version of the work can be viewed on my website at www.msibley.com. Thanks for looking 😊 Foxy 720p.mp4

  4. Fotosketcher 3.90 is now available with a new painting style and scripting support. It also has the ability to use multiple painting styles one after the other. https://fotosketcher.com/1
  5. I am a heavy drawing tablet user (by tablet I mean a wacom or other similar device for drawing/painting with a pen, not an ipad) and I love the idea of using affinity designer for a hybrid vector/raster art experience, but until more hotkey functionality is added painting and drawing are just too cumbersome for me to really consider daily driving affinity. There are a few key actions that tablet users need to have at their fingertips at all times to work with any real efficiency: Rotate (and reset rotation) Zoom Pan Alter Brush Size Toggle Eraser/Brush Color Picker The most ideal setup for this to have your non-pen hand on your keyboard where you can access a small cluster of hotkeys that alter the effects of your pen drag while held. Currently the 'Pan' functionality in Affinity is perfect! While holding space and dragging, I can pan with my pen and, on release, return to my previous tool. The problem is that, unless I'm missing something here, there is no matching functionality for those other actions. (color picker works, but I can't reassign it to the key I want) For example in my custom Krita setup, I was able to easily set up custom hotkeys and now I can perform all of these actions without moving my hands into a new position. space + drag = pan shift + space + drag = zoom fn + space + drag = rotate fn + shift = reset rotation shift + drag = alter brush size E = toggle eraser/brush command + drag = color picker I can transform the canvas almost as quickly as I can think and immediately have my brush or eraser back. the difference this makes is immense. after working this way in Krita and Blender, having to move my pen hand to my mouse wheel when I want to rotate the canvas feels like a car crash in the middle of my workflow. Krita has incredible hotkey customization options that could serve as references for the Affinity team. It lets you create pretty much any key combinations you want and just warns you if that shortcut is already assigned somewhere else. Thanks for reading and considering!
  6. Painted this zebra finch bird on a branch based on a photo I saw using Affinity Photo.
  7. Recent paintings I've done. All with my personal brush set, link in signature.
  8. Painting with watercolor can be very difficult because I was fighting the urge to make it clean and trim. Mimicking the water spread and blots make it even more interesting.
  9. I have an image that I want to apply an adjustment layer over. I want to keep the image mainly black and white, but then I want to paint over specific colors using the In-painting brush tool. For some reason, whenever I paint the image, Affinity just wipes out whatever progress I made, for absolutely no logical reason (I suspect it's a bug). Here's a video I want to follow, for reference purposes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXANeRRPBdw Any help is very much appreciagted.
  10. I've made a brush set for painting that I'm quite happy with, and it's available via Gumroad. These are the brushes I use for painting images like the one attached. There's a free sample set that you can download for free, and the full set. They're all textured brushes with custom tips that I've made myself from scratch, all with pressure, size and opacity sensitivity made to mimic traditional painting brushes. It's not a big set but there's enough brushes to paint anything you could ever want to paint, and they're optimized to work without lag even at very large sizes. https://www.gumroad.com/adrianodocouto I'd highly appreciate it if anyone who downloads would leave me a rating, as that's crucial for exposure on the Gumroad platform. Cheers!

  12. Hello everyone, I´m using Affinity Designer since a month or two and I´m wondering if there´s a setting or way to create multiple objects or vectors on the same layer. For example I´d like to use the Vector Paint Brush tool on one layer, without creating a new one every time I add a new vector. I know that you can group and classify layers, but that´s not really what I´m looking for. Well, AFD is not a ´traditional´ digital painting programme like Clip Studio Paint etc. (actually it´s totally not), but maybe you can use it as such in some cases. So, what I´m looking for is a feature to ´paint´ like in pixel-mode without ´separating´ each ´line´. I don´t really think that there´s a setting or feature like that, but maybe I´ve overseen something... (I´m sorry if there is a similar topic like that in the forums, but I didn´t find anything.)
  13. Import the output files of affnity photo into krita and photoshop respectively, and the results show that the affnity window appears jagged, which seriously interferes with the creative activities. The following is a screenshot In affinity photo In krita In photoshop
  14. Hi all, I'm evaluating Affinity Photo (I'm a long time Designer user and absolutely love it) using the free 90 days trial before deciding on the purchase. I have an issue where a simple brush stroke in Photo will have jagged edges, it's most noticeable on certain stroke angles but it's generally very present. I am using a very simple brush, 80% hardness and 1% spacing. The problem does not seem to be affected by the stabilizer, or by using a tablet vs. a mouse. I tried searching the forums and I already made sure that my 'View Quality' is set to 'Bilinear (Best Quality)'. I drew a comparison using Krita, which displays a much smoother edge using an equivalent brush and stroke direction. Is there anything I can try to smooth those jaggies? Thank you.
  15. Hello, (Sorry if my english is not perfect, not my first language) When i'm digital painting, I often need to switch between the brush and the eraser very quickly while keeping the same brush style, size and opacity. It's really annoying to just want to erase a tiny mistake, switch to the eraser and realize your eraser brush is in a completely different style and having to change all its settings just for one click. With the pixel tool, you can just press Ctrl to quickly erase, it's so perfect, I wish it was the same on the paint brush. It's one of the most awesome feature in Krita, the "eraser mode" which does exactly that (keeps your current brush setting) when you press E, and you can kind of do it in Photoshop with the "Eraser" blending mode of the brush. This goes for the brush tool in the Pixel persona of Affinity Designer, but also for the brush tool in Affinity Photo. I would love to see this feature go in, it's a tiny change but it makes a huge difference in the painting workflow Feel free to tell me if there's another way to have the eraser keep your paint brush current setting, i'm new to the software ! Thanks for the awesome software and the great price ! Alexandre
  16. I'm here in the hopes that someone can give me advice. My daughter journey started out many years ago when she started using Fire Alpaca on her Android tablet. When she started to get more serious, I bought her a digitizer tablet and she continued using the same software on her PC. However, she started to experience a hiccup recently as the pen (8,192 pressure points) would start to "digitally blot" whenever she tried to started a paint stroke. She got very frustrated and wanted to try other software. Well, I may have jumped the gun with my research (due to my limited knowledge) and came across the Affinity suite of software. She wanted to start using Photoshop and Illustrator but I suggested that before she (we) commit to a subscription model, that she try out Affinity Photo and Designer. So, I bought both of them for her as I thought this was the best alternative/parallel solution to the Adobe products. However, she insists that neither of the Affinity solutions allows her to paint like she can with Fire Alpaca. Is this true? Being very limited in my knowledge about the graphics/illustration world, I didn't think that Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator offered this functionality as well. I only suggested that Affinity as I heard that her school was going to be doing more vector-based illustrations and image manipulation. If the Affinity software doesn't offer her the same experience as Fire Alpaca, what alternatives are there? I've heard of Krita but I don't know if this software provides her the path toward her career goals. If the Affinity Photo and Designer does offer/mimic all the functionality of Fire Alpaca, can you offer any suggestions to various resources, courses, guides that can help her to transition? Thank you all in advance for any advice/knowledge. Signed, ...A desperate dad trying to win back his daughter's confidence!
  17. Hello there! I've been using Photo exclusively for painting. Here's a sample of my work. Give me a follow on IG if you feel like it. https://www.instagram.com/adriano_do_couto_art
  18. Good morning everyone! I'm new to the forum, my name is Judith Vidal and I'm a concept artist. I've been using affinity photo for a few months for everything that is concept and illustration and this is one of the results of the experience, I hope you like it. 21. Hello, I bought Affinity Photo, and just started using it yesterday. I love it already. Great to see an affordable and perpetual alternative to Photoshop subscription, and also good to see you have many good tutorial videos and a user forum. I also looked at Exposure software, and really like their Snap Art kit. Is it possible to get the same, or similar effect, in Affinity Photo? I'd really like to have this ability without the need to by a 3rd party program. All suggestions greatly appreciated...Cheers
  22. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/WKdLQv Was practicing different mediums by mixing 3D sculpting and Greasepencil in Blender and then finally finishing it with a 2D paintover inside Affinity Photo. Was a lot fun! Here is the original Blender version before the paintover for those who are curious.
  23. At first the tool cycle option was frustrating until I found out how to turn it off with a setting. Overall Photo runs far lighter than PS, the brushes are nice when they work and image resolution is always nice and sharp on export. The cons are that I can't simply import my PS brush collection and sometimes lines have weird jaggies/anti alias artifacts.
  24. Hello! My name is Mikołaj but you can call me Mik. I've been using affinity software since first release in 2014 for graphic design(any kind of user interface design and visual identity assets). Lately some idea popped in my head – I am using the same tools in the same way all the time, so to prevent some kind of stagnation I want to challenge myself to create different kind of artwork that I usually do. Goal: Creating artwork from scratch in a poster format using every tool that is available in the software. I invite you to enjoy this journey with me. 001
