  1. Hello there, I love publisher so far but unfortunately it is almost unusable for my work since there is no way to do a spread with three or more pages. Is this planned to be changed soon? Otherwise, I have no possibility but to return to InDesign which would be a real shame. Thanks for any information on this topic!
  2. I just came across a workflow stumbling block while working on letterheads with Publisher and delivering them as MS Word templates. There were multiple variations of the letterheads for different departments, which were created as different pages in Publisher in a single document based on common Master Pages My workflow was as following: Design everything in Publisher Create slices of header and footer for export to PDF Iterate on the design in Publisher until approved by client Place PDF graphics of header and footer in Word, recreate text that needs to be editable and text styles in Word, make color Palettes via PowerPoint (due to Microsoft logic) Last minute fixes: Make changes in Publisher, re-export the slices and replace the images in Word Deliver MS Word templates and color palette files To my knowledge, this is a pretty standard workflow for doing branding projects where MS Office templates are required. Since Publisher has no Export persona, I created my slices for my letter header and footer by opening the Publisher document inside Photo. Trouble is, Designer and Photo only support one page. When opening a document, they always just display Page 1. This can be circumvented by opening the file via the File menu in Publisher. In that case they will open the page that is currently active in Publisher. For me that meant that I had to go my target page in Publisher, use the menu to open that page in Photo, create my slices, save, close, re-open in Publisher, go to the next page, create my slices and so on. This is not only very cumbersome, but it also makes it really difficult to copy slices, settings or dimensions to keep them consistent across pages. Imagine that I find that I want my footer slice to be a bit larger after all because one version has some extra elements and I want them to be a consistent size – I'd have to close, re-open the document in Photo via Publisher for every single page and make my edits while remembering the dimensions to type in. The same applies to exporting the slices after a design change – when not using continuous export (haven't tested if that works from Publisher), this workflow also requires closing and re-opening the file for each page I want to re-export slices from. Imagine a change on a master page with slices on a 15 page document. That's a waste of time and unnecessarily frustrating. I guess the limit on page navigation was imposed onto Designer and Photo to prevent people from just downloading blank files with multiple pages and using those instead of buying Designer or Photo. My proposed solution would be to offer page navigation in the Export persona in both Designer and Photo. Then just always return to the default page 1 when going back to the main Photo or Vector persona if Publisher is not installed. Another possibility would be to take it further and globally enable page navigation in Photo and Designer if Publisher is installed, similar to the Vector and Photo personas in Publisher. The last option would be to add the Export persona to Publisher, but I'd say that's probably overkill.
  3. Completely useless update. I have A LOT OF FILES with multiple artboards. Usually, I export my designs on PDF (because of the compatibility, most people has AI), and, with the update, there's no separation between the artboards. All you got is one single page with all the arboards on it, no separated pages, one by each one of the artboards. So, a really nice software is now ruined with an unnecessary update.
  4. Hi there, I can't seem to find an existing discussion on this problem, so please excuse me if I'm duplicating a question. I have a fairly long document (100 pages) in double spread and if (a) try to move a page (b) try to delete a page (c) try to add a page - adding and subtracting doubles works fine. Also, it will crash if I attempt to turn the double spread back to single. I have tried all kinds of things, but to no avail. Im now working with 1.7.0.292, but this problem has not yet been resolved. Thanks in advance
  5. Hi there, I'm currently making a booklet for work and I'm struggling to get the page ordering correct for it to print as a booklet. It's a 25 page document and the pages were made in the correct order however when I go to print as a booklet (flip short sides, A4 paper) my back page ends up being covered by a blank sheet which is half of the second page and then my back page is in facing to the last page. I'll add images if it helps because I'm atrocious when it comes to explaining things. Thank you
  6. On the pages tab, if you drag and move a thumbnail of a single right page and place is to be on a left page. It mixes the left / right orientation from the master spreads. You have to reassign the master to ALL the affected spreads that come after. Same goes for a left page that is dragged to right.
  7. Hello Team i've been working on a project to check the new AFPub .270 but noticed: The software crash every time I tried to reorder the pages using the drag and drop method. i Tried to re-order one page at a time made the software crash. i Tried to re-order couple of pages (4 in this case) made the software crash Note: This Manual Re-ordering of pages was 100% working in previous version ! Suggestion: Not only it would be great for this to be fixed but, Dev's should implement a complementary method of Page re-reorder instead of havong only one way to do that, thus putting us in safe land; if one fails, we can use the other method. Blessings !
  8. Hello, shouldn't the master page apply any changes to the rest of the document that I have previously applied it? I have this document with 50 pages and applied the master on them on creation, but after I changed the master page I had to go and left click on a random page-> apply master to all Isn't linked the whole time? Sound like a pain if you have a multi masters document if you have to go find each one of the pages the master is applied to change it.
  9. I'm not sure this is a bug. If not it's a bit confusing. I intend to export selected pages to PDF from a document. If I select Area: All pages, and specify some pages by page number, the result is a PDF with only the first page in the document. The first page is not among those selected for export. Publisher 249 on windows 10. Settings attached.
  10. Sometimes I like to zoom out and look at one of my layouts but I noticed that with Publisher the pages are so close together that I can't just focus on one layout at a time. In this case I am designing a YouTube thumbnail so I want to see what it will look like reduced way down. With Designer I could just select the art board tool and space the art board apart but there doesn't seem to be a similar solution like this on designer. I would prefer to stay working in Publisher since it is a real design tool. Is there some option for selecting page spacing?
  11. I have two Publisher documents that I would like to merge, or certain pages (a whole document of regular pages, master pages or any variation) that I'd like to add / import from one into the other document. Again, any variation on it being a full Publisher document, a PDF or just master pages, but I'd like some way to re-use master pages without having to do a document A copy, open Document B to paste, then back to Document A to copy next master and back to Document B to paste ... times however many master pages etc that I have. Thanks!
  12. I'd like to reallocate a different set of pages to each section using the Section Manager, is there a way of doing this in the Beta? John
  13. Help! Whenever I import a manuscript PDF created from Pages into Affinity Designer, the page numbers all have a ">" symbol next to them and sometimes illustrations do too. I can usually delete these symbols, but for a 200 page document, this is a pain.
  14. When using the tab-key in the Add Pages dialog it starts from the Master Page selector which is at the bottom of the dialog and then jumps to the number of pages at the top. I prefer the number of pages to be active from the start. As a side not: I prefer that pressing enter activates the OK button, no matter which field is active. I always need to press it twice. It is something that annoys me in Designer as well...
  15. Publisher crashes when I move a layer to the Pages Preview.
  16. How can pages be arranged correctly for a folder (for example, 6 pages)? Such as in InDesign or QuarkXPress (see example)
  17. Would like to see an option allowing the conversion of Designer files that include multiple Artboards to Publisher Pages. Currently it seems as though all Designer artboards are converted to a single giant page in Publisher. I have built a number of 24 - 60 "page" files using Designer in hopes that Publisher would have some option to see the artboards as pages. Bonus Request: Allow entering "Number of Pages in the New Document dialog, saving a step from going to the "Add Pages" dialog. thanks!
  18. Suggestion : lorsqu'on choisit "nouveau document" à l'ouverture d'Affinity Publisher, pourquoi ne pas proposer dans la boite de dialogue le nombre de pages désirées pour le nouveau doc avec une valeur à 1 par défaut.
  19. Love affinity, however, can anyone suggest a workaround when your work is all in fireworks files containing pages and shared layers? I own affinity photo and designer, but both lose the pages and opens my pngs as one flat file. Maybe another interim bit of software that can do it until affinity is able? In a real pickle as my newest imac can not open my older adobe fireworks software. Not Im left to subscribe to adobe to open them and save all the pages out as layered PSDs. Not only is this tedious but if I have to subscribe to adobe it kinda renders affinity moot and I really want to keep up with affinity. I LOVE AFFINITY! help, please? I dont have publisher...maybe it can open pngs that contain shared layers and pages?
  20. Page names would be quite handy in the exported PDFs. Layers are already exported using their names, which is great, but for some reason artboard names are ignored in the exported file. Is there any particular reason why this is not implemented?
  21. When I'm working on large app designs, it tends to get a lot of symbols. It would be nice to have a similar feature as on sketch, where the symbols are on a separate page. I believe this would make it easier to edit and see whats included in a symbol and not. you could then have separate pages for different states in the app, and different symbol pages for them as well.
  22. Hello there, Artboards help in organising stuff, but as soon as you have more than 5-6 artboards, things get hairy. The layers panel might have hundreds of items. Being able to organize content into "Pages", would be a huge time saver. Both for navigating a big document and for editing it. And it does not sound as something complex, from an implementation perspective.
