  1. Version 2.3.1 Mac M1 with and without Acceleration repeatable. I placed(File->Place) an PDF File with 4 pages. Made 3 copies with Command-C Command-V Grouped all four. Then I chose pages 1-4 in the ArtBoard setting in the context menu so that each PDF page was visible. After saving, closing the document and reopening it, the page settings are random.
  2. Publisher: Is it possible to set more than 2 pages in a row? For layouts in the architectural field, this is very often necessary to evaluate the presentation of several plans side by side. kind regards shoeller
  3. Hey forum! I'm not sure if this is a bug or if I'm missing something. Basically I simply want to import all pages from document A into B after the last page. However, I'm asked to specify a valid target page. Am I misunderstanding the message? Why do I get the below warning? Also, even if I wanted to, I can't access any boxes with this setting. 🤔 Thanks for any help! 😊
  4. Hi, I'm a bit confused. I looked in the forum but I do not seem to find the detailed answer I was after. I apologise if it exists and I clumsily missed it. How does text overflow from text area to text area in one page? How does text overflow from text area in one page to the next page? The project is a 300-page book, approx. Now... the issue is if I use Microsoft Word, text flows automatically. But I would rather use Affinity Publisher because if I produce the book, in its entirety, I will save a few thousands in post-production from a MS Word "manuscript". I thank you all in advance for any advice, as I am fairly new to Affinity. Kind regards
  5. In all Affinity programs: (Windows) 1. Double click on the Rectangle Tool icon to create a rectangle around the page or selected Artboard. 2. Double click on the Rectangle Tool icon + SHIFT creates a rectangle around (if created) the page margin or the margin of the selected Artboard. 3. Double click on the Rectangle Tool icon + CTRL creates a rectangle around (if created) the page bleed or selected Artboard bleed. During my design work, I very often need a rectangle around the created page, so double clicking on the rectangle icon will create a rectangle the fastest, regardless of the size of the page. Of course I will pay for it. Everyone will benefit from it. what cost?
  6. I know this was missing in V.1, but was hoping that page rulers would be added to V.2 apps. The desktop version has page rulers (View > Show rulers), but not sure why the iOS version does not. If I am missing something, please let me know. If not, please add page rulers like the desktop version has.. Thanks!
  7. Considering that one day there may be options to filter search queries by layer/ page/ chapter/ text frame/ column, etc., see: It would be neat to have a batch Find and Replace in which you can add multiple queries for finding and replacing something. That way, you could batch replace various pieces of text, characters (e.g. to do clean up for multiple white spaces and break characters) for particular pages in at once. The way I see this is you could add another Find and Replace query by clicking on a "+" button, which will run after the first Find and Replace has run.
  8. Currently, the pages studio and viewport are relatively detached from each other. I can double click in the pages studio to jump to this page in the viewport. However, the reverse action: double clicking on the current/ active page in the viewport to jump to this page both in the viewport and pages studio, is not possible. This is useful to manage the position of the page within the document, so you don't have to scroll to go to the page. In the pages studio, this function is called "Go to Spread" in the right click menu, so I propose to add this reverse action to the viewport too.
  9. As the title describes, I have a document that crashes whenever I try to interact with a specific page. I initially noticed a stray element, which was technically "off-canvas" and quite large. I tried to navigate to the page to delete the offending element and the application crashed. This behaviour seems to be consistent on both macOS and Windows. Now I cannot do anything to the page: If I try and select an elements on the page - it crashes If I try an make the page the active page - it crashes If I try to delete it - it crashes If I try to delete the page before it - it crash If I use the resource manager to locate the element on the page - it crashes I tried to open the document up in Affinity Designer, but there is now way to change the active page (consider adding this feature to desktop). I used the iPad version which can cycle through pages and it also crashes when I get to the offending page. The only way to salvage my document was to select (in the pages panel) the page before it, it and the page after it - and delete all 3 pages at the same time. Obviously this is not ideal, because I had to redo work that was already done. I would like to provide the document to a moderator review, perhaps we can squash this bug.
  10. I'm new to Designer and I can't seem to find the option to create multiple pages in a document. Can anyone give me a hint?
  11. Hey all, Need your advice. First time user of Affinity Publisher (or any design tool) & working on my comic book creation. FYI: I am using Affinity Designer for creating the art work. All art work is blank & white, and exported as transparent PNG I am using the Trial version of Publisher app on my Macbook I have 3 questions: (1) How do I get boxes around my artwork? I tried using the Rectangle box, but it sits over the artwork and I couldn't get it to appear behind it. (2) How do I plan my page spread for the book front cover, the back cover & inside pages? Besides my content pages, I have the following also - book title page, publisher details & Introduction. I may have Contents and an Index page as well. Please see the attachment on the layout I currently have based on the document setup. There is a Page 1 by itself up at the top. Is that the Cover page? (3) How do I insert page numbers? (4) How do I include a Header and/or a Footer on every page of my artwork? Thank you so much for your time and looking forward to hearing from you all!
  12. What is the practical limit for the number of pages in a Publisher document? I am compiling a booklet that will be around 100 pages ( double-sided on 50 physical pages), being a mixture of text and graphics. I want to output it as a print-ready PDF without splitting the document.
  13. Hi, I am on windows10 with Publisher v1.8.5.703, I have a document fully finished . Unfortunately the artist who worked on it made it 18 inch x 12 inch while it needs to be 17 inch x11 inch , due to some misunderstanding about 1 inch margins... Luckily for me , he used all kinds of containers(frame and text boxes) for text and nothing is freely floating. All I need to do is resize the masters' dimensions, scale a few frames and be done with it. (we have like 5 master pages) However I cant. I double click on a master and then click on spread setup, select all spreads and change the dimensions. The software freezes, can only be shut down with task manager. Is there a solution to this ? I dont want to turn an hour of work tops to a week of work. Thanks
  14. I know this has been reported in the past but we still seem to have this issue and that is that PDF page sizes do not export to the correct size. They are off by up to 5/1000th of an inch. Here is an example: So in this example you have a ready to print PDF but on the left the page size is 5.503x2.130 while it's supposed to be what affinity shows and that is 5.5x2.125. This may not seem like a big problem but it really delays our Quite Imposing automation for printing. The file then has to be manually cropped in Acrobat. This happens with almost all files with multiple artboards. I have been told that I need to use for pixel alignment and that should correct it - I keep it on and I still get these results. Is there a way to resolve it on my end or is something that Serif must do? thanks!
  15. I'm not sure to understand what I have to toggle to see the objects outside of the page. In one document I had these reference materials outside the page and then I must have done something, resulting in all objects outside of the page to be invisible. Can't see any obvious option in Document setup. Where's the magic button? Thanks.
  16. Here are some simple vector Page Curl Assets that you can use with any of the Affinity applications. It’s not photorealistic but it’s usable for most simple things. How to use: 1. Import the attached “Page Curl Assets” into your application. 2. When you need a Page Curl, drag the “Page Curl” asset to the bottom-right of your image. 3. Drag the “Page Curl Background Remover” to align with the top-left of the Page Curl layer. 4. Drag the “Page Curl Background Remover” layer inside the image layer. 5. Group the image layer. 6. Drag the “Page Curl” layer into the group (above the image). You can now resize and move the image with the curl together. Note: If you have a white background, especially if your image is the same size as the page, you may not need the “Page Curl Background Remover”. The attached GIF shows all the steps. Technical Tip: If you want to resize the curl, move the bottom-right node of the background eraser to match the bottom-right of the page curl, then resize both the curl and eraser together, then move the bottom-right node of the eraser out again. It sounds complicated but it’s not that difficult. (The eraser is oddly-shaped to stop artefacts from the underlying image coming through sometimes.) I hope people find this useful. 17. Possibly related to the other bug, but when the images on a page takes forever to load (it still looks low-res blocky) and then I click ">" then the app crashes. This happens almost every single time, so with a document with lots of images, it takes forever to go through each page looking at things.
  18. When Include printer marks > Include page information is checked instead of just filename and page number, spread / artboard name should be added also.
  19. Since the last update, no page margins are displayed anymore. It works only for documents saved with this option, but not for new ones...
  20. Windows 10 Home 1903, Publisher 1.7.2.471. Every now and again, seemingly randomly to me, Publisher hangs for a few seconds and then page background goes ‘dark’ or invisible. See attached image where you can see that the page background has ‘gone’, however, at the bottom of the image you can see where scrolling up a little has revealed part of the white page background. It happened this time while I was trying to drag a text frame but I’ve seen it when modifying tables and quite a few other times. I have never seen this happen with previous versions of Publisher, even the betas. I have only seen this behaviour on this document but this is the only document I have edited for any real length of time with this version of Publisher. The document was created using a production version of Publisher – I don’t know which one – and not a beta. Double-clicking on a spread in the Pages panel takes everything back to normal but it’s a bit disconcerting.
  21. Hi, maybe what I try to do is not yet possible in publisher, but it is for many years in InD. I try to set up a trifold page layout with 6 different sides, so I can add the same borders and guides to each side. In Indesign it is just a drag and drop in the page panel. (After you toggle the right switch in the panel menu). So I want to face page 1 - 3 next to each other and 4 - 6. Is this possible yet? Thanks for your help guys + girls! Sebo
  22. If I have overlooked this feature I am sorry to bother all y'all (my southern is showing). I Love the way in PagePlus X9 you could visually choose page size and format from the New Publications My templates screen. I have been unable to find a similar facility in Affinity Publisher. If it is available I would appreciate a pointer on how to find it. It it is not available, my I suggest some form of it be added to Publisher. I have kept my PagePlus X9 so I can easily print labels, etc. that are easily formated from Templates screen. I would like to find it in Publisher so that I no longer need PagePlus. Thank You in advance.
  23. I have some text where, at the moment, it reads something like this: "If you would like more information on this, turn to page ## to see full details." Once the document is pretty much complete I then go through the whole thing searching for ## and manually insert the real page number. Not a massive task for what I need to do, but still a bit of a chore and things can get overlooked. Does Publisher have an "Insert the page number of this selected layer at this position in the text" function? I've had a look in the Help but I can't see anything relevant. P.S. The page number must automatically update if the page number of the layer changes, otherwise the result would be worse than manually searching for ##.
  24. I am looking at making a comic (standard comic book size) as a test before I try out the real thing. But I am confused on how to do the page set up with trim and actual size. I have seen singe page sheets and double wide so that it has a fold. If you did the double-wide doesn't the center margin have to change size since the outside pages need to be bigger than the page at the centerfold? So I guess what I am asking can someone please make me a blank comic page (No panels) with the trim marks, and space for the header, page number etc? And can that also be used for the cover? Thanks for any help
  25. When creating a new document, you can setup the page dimensions. After creating the document it is possible to set the dimensions of the spread, I think it would be useful to have the option to set the dimensions on spread size while creating a new document. I noticed this because my book print lab only gives spread dimensions.
