  2. Hi, I bought Affinity and got some BONUS Overlays. When I started up soft so then poped up window with these bonuses. I click on "Download" and close window. But now I cannot find these overlays in Affinity and in my PC and that window never showed again. Can you help me with that? Thanks, Patrik.
  3. I expect these free overlays, fog, rain, snow were installed when I registered the software. ? How do I access them?
  4. I have just downloaded version 1.9 and the free overlays. How do I access these overlays on Affinity photo? PS. I am very new to all this!
  5. Grunge Art in Affinity Photo Affinity Photo video tutorial adding photos and text to create a grunge style photo manipulation with the use of threshold, perspective, artistic text, overlay, blend mode and more. https://youtu.be/YaPtXfZ9iYs
  6. How do I achieve the circular image overlay with text similar to the attached image?
  7. Hi Affinity team - are additional crop overlays (e.g. phi grid, golden triangle, etc.) anywhere on the roadmap for Photos on iPad and desktop? Would be lovely to ditch Adobe tools altogether but this is literally the one thing I still use Photoshop/Lightroom for. Thanks!!
  8. Christmas is fast approaching! Here is a set of over 50 Christmas and Celebration style frames, suitable for print, print on demand (POD), video, posters, cards, photo frames and more. All in 300 dpi png file format. https://www.creativefabrica.com/product/christmas-celebration-frames/ref/63430/ Christmas_&_CDelebration_Frames.mp4
  9. Hi, I would love you to consider adding a Phi Grid as an additional option to the existing cropping overlays. As you probably know, it is based on the Golden Mean just like the Golden Spiral but I find it more useful than the later for landscapes and other types of images. Thanks for all the outstanding work you are doing!
  10. Until recently I've used mainly Nikon Capture NX2 and DxO for RAW processing - both have 'colour control point' tech to select areas for adjustments. I'm now learning AP (v1.6.5.135), and right now trying to get the hang of the overlay and selection methods - but I'm getting the white edges shown in the attached screenshots. The original is a RAW (.NEF) image selected purely as a sample for testing. In the first instance I used Develop Persona and the Overlay Paint tool to select the sky with edge aware. When I painted in the overlay exposure adjustment I got a white edge on the overlay and was unable to find a way to remove it. (Ignore the blotchy uneveness of the paint tool - that's another matter which I'll address separately!) In the second I used Photo Persona and followed one of the AP video tutorials to create an alpha channel selection (with refine) which I then applied to a Brightness and Contrast adjustment layer (for the land) and inverted to a Curves adjustment layer (for the sky). The nearest I've come to fixing this one is by editing the (land) layer blend options - this seems to work up to a point but still doesn't quite eliminate all of the edge. Is there a way to avoid creating the white edge in the first place (particularly for the Overlay Paint tool which I'd use a lot), or a better way to remove it than layers and blend options? TIA
  11. I am more drawn towards using Designer but will be spending more time later this year learning about Photo. One of my HUGE Designer / Photo add on packs which is my main production flow, requires me to need a photo editor, Despite being a long term user of another editor ( not PS!) which offers utilities not included in Photo, I find thta I can get what I am wanting in Photo without too much hassle. Let's say I am liking it alot.. So as my effort of showing off my creations here is one and I included the original image for comparison. Hope you like it. I encourage all positive critiques!
  12. Quite often the use of gradient overlays, more often brush overlays will leave a dirty grey discolouration on images. It can also happen from the panorama processing overlaps. It should be expected that they leave no evidence of themselves I think? Not sure how this is with other sophisticated photo software.
  13. Hi there,, I bought an iPad Pro for photo editing while on the road. I take RAW photos, and am very pleased that Affinity Photo can import and develop RAW photos. However, there are quite a few very basic shortcomings that outright annoy me when using Affinity Photo for a longer period of time: I do not quite understand the "persona" concept. I've been using GIMP before, and am used to having access to all commands at any time (when possible). Whenever I need to switch "personas", an annoying overlay pops up the right. Even when I have closed the navigator, history or whatever overlay before, it pops up again and obstructs the view on my picture. Which leads us to: Please save the last tool settings for later use! Whenever I switch to a new tool, I get the default settings - not the ones that I've previously selected! That is very annoying when you have to edit 50 or more photos in a row. Which leads us to: The same goes for photo export: please save the last settings! When I export a RAW picture, I would like a RGB8 PNG with no metadata embedded. This always requires lots of setting changes for each export! Also, please make it much easier to simply save a picture to the camera roll. It is not intuitive to tap "Share", and then abort the export process. Most annoying for my workflow is the crop/rotate tool - apart from the default settings coming up each every time. I can straighten the photo's horizon alright, but the problem is that only a LAYER is rotated, and not the entire photo. This makes for annoying transparent triangles on the sides, which I in turn have to crop manually (all the time having to select "Original aspect ratio" instead of "Unconstrained"). Please make a rotate/straighten option like in instagram, where the picture is automatically cropped after rotate so no transparency remains. Thank you.
  14. Hi all, I LOVE Affinity for making HDR and it is making me wildly regret buying Aurora! BUT I make a brush overlay layer and paint on it. All well and good but it is all or nothing. the brush completely adds to the mask. I can then change the opacity of the whole layer but I'd like to be able to paint in grey (say 50% opacity) as I can in any other area. Is this not possible or should I be requesting it as a feature? Thanks! Phil
  15. Hi there, I'm new to Affinity and was watching some Youtube video tutorials and to me, Layers and Overlays seems to be the same thing? Can you please the difference? Thanks Nick
  16. I have a Paint Brush Tool Problem. Using the very good epic skies overlays I am unable to get the paint brush tool to perform after applying the epic skies macro. The erase brush tool does work however on the sky layer. I have watched James’ video on this a few times and it all seemed so easy! In my case the paint brush tool does nothing with "black” or “white” selected. I cannot work out where I am going wrong as the paint brush tool works correctly in other mask layers. Advice please. Thanks.
  17. Either I am overlooking an obvious step (as I've been known to do) or Overlays in the Develop persona are not working on the AirPad 2. Bring in a RAW image, click on Overlays, select Brush Overlay, and in the context toolbar select Show Overlay. When I brush on an area of the canvas with the paintbrush, I expected to paint in a red overlay like in the RAW: Overlays on Vimeo video but I don't see any change whatsoever. No red glow where I've brushed. No indication that I have marked the canvas at all. If I go to the next step in the Help instructions and select an adjustment, there is no change in the image. What am I doing wrong?
  18. Hey guys! I just wanted to let you know that I've been working on a secret project the past couple of months. It's a website dedicated to offer post-production tools for Affinity Photo, mainly for photo retouchers: color presets, retouch brushes, texture overlays, etc. Also, I've been working on a photo retouch eBook with complementary videos for AP, which probably will be released there when finished... The site it's finally in pre-release, that means that I'm still working to finish the first assets, but today you can have a (small, small) taste (almost a little bite) of what of what you can expect out of it. It's a FREE Pack called: FAUX 77 A collection of 8 Macros for AP that emulates the vintage looks of the pictures from the late seventies. You can look at some examples and more details in the link below :) As with Frankentoon, you just have to give your email, and the download link will be sent to your inbox. You can unsubscribe later if you wish. But if you are interested in the project and want to know more about future releases and free sample packs you can stay :) This website will be growing as I'm adding content through the next weeks. I would like to know what you think and which kind of tools for AP you'd like to find there. Cheers! Enrique
  19. Noticed its not possible to name the brush or gradient overlays when added. Would be good to know what overlay is doing what on the images.
  20. Editing raw in Develop I have the useful option to use brush or gradient overlays. However I note the clarity slider becomes unavailable which is a shame as it would be useful to be able to paint in some clarity. Is there something I am missing? Thanks
  21. Relaxed drawing of a classic topic. Wanted to get the outlines right so it took some time. Used 2 different textured brushes for overlays and clouds. Half of them with a 50% Gaussian Blur. Always thought that cat in the story is great - so it got a Martini ;)
