  1. When I export a GIF with transparency, Outline layer effect become hollow. This seems to happens on all Affinity, all platforms.
  2. Hello Affinity-users Im using affnity designer for an illustration and clipped a vector shape to anouther vector shape. The problem is, that you can still see a white outline underneath the grey layer, and thats really annoing. Can anyone give me a non-destructive solution to fix this situation (a quick workaround would be nice) >>> you can see the problem in my screenshot Thanks!
  3. Hello, my goal is to make a youtube thumbnail where my object (video console) has an outline. I removed the background from the picture, smoothed the edge and then I added a red outline at the effect panel. The outline is not smooth. Instead it looks distorted - it has many pumps / waves to the edge. There is no option to smooth the outline. How can I achieve a clean outline in Designer or Photo?
  4. Hello, dear developers. First of all - I like your program, it is more comfortable than illustrator or Corel draw. But thing is - Designer doesn't have the required functionality to normally offset and expand strokes, while illustrator and Corel draw do. I wanted to design a logo with "luminescence" effect - like soft glow - by outlining, offsetting and expanding strokes. With illustrator I could do it, while in Affinity Designer I can't. I tried "outline" effects, but then I discovered that I just can't expand it. I probably could create something "resembling" to desirable effect, but that is not the solution. I didn't`t notice this instruments in 1.7 either. So please - add this functionality to 1.7 or 1.8 update - while it`s a small detail, but for some projects its crucial. And I`m not the only one asking about this - there are some related topics on this forum asking about the same. Aaaaaand - do something with your "expanding stroke" - it`s horrible! Although a bit better in 1.7 update, but still not appropriate! Many programs (illustrator, Inkscape, Corel Draw, even Sketch!) can do this much better! I`m using Affinity Designer 1.6.5 on Mac OS Mojave (also used on Sierra). Thanks for your work and cannot wait to see this functionality in update
  5. Hi, Is there a way to outline / fill a stroke? Thanks.
  6. Masked shape is not completely overflow main object. Using square as masked object produces 1px outline from mask background. 1) create mask with red background 2) use a square with darker color square as a symbol masked by object above (Curve) 2) observe outline of 1px, this is background from mask (Curves), better is visible on dark canvas But it should be filled up by one color.
  7. Hello Affinity members, I am creating assets for a game in Affinity Designer 1.7.3.481. For that I am using isometric 2:1 grid. In the editor everything looks fine. But after I export it, the resulting PNG has a strange outline or shadow around it. Please see picture attached. This is a 512x256 PNG, the outline is there no matter the export resolution. How do I get rid of this? It looks awful in the game. EDIT: I downloaded latest Affinity Designer version and the problem persists.
  8. Just curious if there is a standard practice for designers exporting PDFs using AD…when you create a pdf, do you prefer to embed your fonts in the pdf, or do you convert them to curves when exporting? (I assume “Convert to Curves” is the AD equivalent of Adobe’s “outline fonts”?) I haven’t run into any issues either way but wondered what others do. Thanks!
  9. How can I get the blue line as the outline of the type, that it surrounds the D, K, N and Y separately
  10. in Affinity publisher when I have multiple artboards and then I select an object outside of them an outline surrounding all the artboards is shown, how can I hide this outline so it doesn't show up anymore? check the attached image below note: this doesn't happen when am using Affinity designer.
  11. Hi, i assume a bug: when you use a vector shape, fill it with white, add a black outside outline (layer effects) reduce the fill opacity The fill gets darker and finally black (not expected). Expected is fill gets transparent, but stays white. Instead, it gets the color of the outline. When reaching 0% opacity, fill gets transparent (expected), but the outline is extended to the inside (wrong). Spotted by my son in 1.8.5 and 1.9.0.932 Example file shows two linked vector shapes, one using stroke behaving correctly, one with outline mis-behaving. Linked so opacity affects both, and you can see the issue. outline opacity issue.afphoto
  12. Can someone tell me if this software already has the option "Outline" ( see the video) ? I worked with the "trial version" but was not. Thank you!
  13. Hello everyone, Lately I've been working on many grayscale line charts for a research paper and I'm finding one thing very frustrating. See my Screen capture >> When a line is selected their isn't any indication of what color it is? In this case I have the line selected and would like to find its grayscale level in the palette. Is this possible? Thanks
  14. Hey guy, I have a shape with no fill and I want the stroke to be shape. So I use "Expand Stroke". The issue is that when I do this AD doesn't directly convert the stroke as it is but cuts off a corner. Look at the screenshots. Maybe you can give me hint why this is happening. EDIT: Maybe I should say, that the strokes are aligned to the inside of the shape
  15. Hello, While I'm still learning how to use Affinity Designer I noticed that the Stroke's Outline is always on the center. 1 - I would like to change the Outline to Inside or Outside - How can I do that ? What I mean is to make it NOT centered based on the blue stroke line, but either outside or inside of it's outline. 2 - I would like to make the rectangle have sharp corners (like the example on the left) - How can I do that? I've tried the Corner option, it seems like it's on zero, but still rounded. Thanks ahead!
  16. Hi Guys, I want to design a T-Shirt print. It should be a big blob or splash and the outlines of our Logo should be left clear inside the blob. I tried to create a mask with the shape of the logo outlines, but all It does is that the outlines get the colours and the texture of the splash. But ich want the splash with the Logo cut out in the middle of it. Has anybody an idea? Kind regards Florian
  17. Hi, in Outline view mode it is sometime quite difficult to sellect curves by clicking on them. I guess the bigger the zoom is, the harder task it is. It takes quite long time to find the right place where the click-sellection works. See my attachement: try to sellect the red head clicking on the curve within the blue area. In Vector mode sellection works well. Click-sellect-test.afdesign
  18. Dear Affinity community, I have a mystery that maybe one of you might help me to resolve ! I need to print a black and white vector drawing on a booklet. I made it with multiple black and white shapes or lines with Affinity Designer. When I print it directly from Affinity Designer (with file > print) it looks great : the vector lines look very sharp and the white color from my design is replaced by the color of my printing paper : this is exactly what I want ! I don't even have to export it first ! The problem comes with Affinity Publisher. When I insert this drawing in my composition (with file > insert) in order to illustrate my booklet ; I can't print it in the same way. Either my outlines look pixelized (like a low resolution .jpg file) Or my white color appear slightly different from the color of my printing paper (a very light grey) and I dont want that. I just want it to be transparent and replaced by the white color of my printing paper. Trust me, I tried every solution I could find on the internet to fix these problems (different export format, bend options, "erase white paper" option...) and nothing works. If anybody has a solution I would be very grateful for your help ! Thanks, in advance ! All the best, Lanval
  19. Hello, I have been wondering and trying to get a constant Blur around the sharp edges of a photo. I found tutorials for Photoshop but I couldn't figure out how to apply that on Affinity Photo. It used to be that the live filter layers could be edited by creating a mask but that worked really bad to not anyway and I am wondering if there is a way to have the outlines of a photo extremely blurred, so that it fades away? Thanks.
  20. Affinity Publisher newbie here. After working in Publisher with an image that had changed from "image" to "pixel", I found I was no longer able to draw a thin rule around it in the way it can be done with a text frame or image frame. There's always the Outline layer effect, but it does the job only partway. With Outline there don't seem to be controls for how the corners are drawn—they are always rounded. But is there a way to alter the corners using some other controls in the program?
  21. Hey, first post here, as i could not find any solution to this. I am trying to put a text into this bear shape so that it will fill the shape inside, just like the one on the left. I feel like it should be straightforward, but I can't seem to work it out. Since it stems from a picture, I was unable to convert it to text frame in designer. I have all 3 programs available.
  22. Hi, I have create this illustration with both vector and pixel layers. I want to add a black / white outline to it. So far I tried to look for a way I could offset the path but I could not find anything. I also tried to united/add all items but that options is not even available.
  23. Hello, There seems to be a glitch with the inner glow effect (edit: and with the outline effect). This glitch seems to at least specifically affect shapes with lower opacity. By viewing the 8 snapshots below, you will see that setting even only 0.1 radius to the effect results in changes to the whole shape instead of affecting only its borders. This happens no matter the blend mode, and no matter the intensity (although the effect is more pronounced with higher intensity. (Pictures 1,2,3,4 are in Multiply blend mode ; Pictures 5,6,7,8 are ine Normal blend mode). I am working on a macbook pro. This happened while following the fisherman tutorial in the AD workbook. r
  24. Hello, I have been asking for this option for years, it is something so basic in vectorization software, but here it simply is not. I will leave my link from here in the community where I originally requested it years ago, there is even video right there and some explanations, thanks.
  25. Hello. I am working on a large file which contains many shapes which share their borders. Only the outline will be printed (there is no fill to any of the shapes). It is very important that two shapes sharing path overlap precisely otherwise printed stroke will not have the same thickness/shape. How can I shape the path of two elements at the same time (so the path stays overlapping)? I know I could break the path of one shape, remove overlapping piece and only modify the remaining path of the second shape. This however takes many steps to accomplish (not a problem for a small piece but could take ages with large files; imagine jigsaw puzzles cut pattern"). How can I somehow "glue" both shapes and modify mutual path with simple drag method typical for single paths? Thank you in advance for your help! Best regards, Marcin
