  1. I frequently use my iPad with the folio case which props it at a slight angle. Interestingly Affinity Photo AND Affinity Designer seem to be reacting to this angle when trying to place photos. The whole interface flickers strangely and taps aren't always registered. The video demonstrates it in Affinity Photo but the behavior is also the same in Designer. Previous to 2.0 I noticed other features in Affinity Designer such as keyboard visibility that were delicately affected by the slight angle. I haven't determined if these are still issues but I haven't seen any other iPad app that has had issues with this angle. You'll notice the flickering only occurs while the iPad is at the slight angle, but not when it is upright. This is an 11in iPad Pro M1 running iPadOS 16.2 (a). I have noticed this in previous versions of the OS IMG_5679.MOV
  2. It seems that Affinity always shows "Horizontal(normal)" as the orientation regardless of actual orientation info. This image has Rotate 90 CW ( right-top / 6 ) and Affinity still shows Horizontal(normal) as usual. You can get sample images for all orientation here. https://github.com/recurser/exif-orientation-examples
  3. Not sure what I'm searching wrong, but can't figure this out. I'd like to do the following: 1. Shortcut key to zoom out the artboard and center it to screen. Sometimes I move around in the artboard and would like to come back to a centered position, but can't figure out the shortcut to do it. 2. Shortcut key to zoon a selected object to the center of the screen. Is that possible? Let's say I have ten layers, and I select one that's to the left of the artboard. Some shortcut key that would then bring the objects in that selected layer to the center of my view (i.e., the shortcuts shifts the entire artboard to the right, not actually move anything inside relative to the board) 3. And if anyone knows... is there a way to move the artboard using the Wacom tablet / Pen combo? I have to drag the horizontal/vertical scrollbars but surely there's a way to grab the board and move it (like how I can do it on the mouse by click and drag) Thank you!
  4. Shift+O doesn’t cycle orientation (does nothing) and O doesn’t cycle overlay (selects Burn Brush instead). I’m using an iPad Pro 12.9” 4th Gen. with the Logitech Combo Touch. Latest Affinity Photo 2 and iOS version.
  5. Hey everyone, slowly but surely I'm losing my mind over here, haha. I think I've rebuild this master page at least three times by now, but every time I load images, some of them are mirrored. What's even more irritating: If I apply the same master page again, they get mirrored again. Now … what is going on here? Can someone please explain? Applying_Master_changes_single_frame_orientation.mov Even if the frame itself were mirrored (unfortunately this is not indicated anywhere, or is it?), it shouldn't be mirrored every time the master page is re-applied, at least from my understanding. I come accross this issue on almost (?) all the other master pages that use frames, hence why the master pages name ends with a 2. I tried to fix it several times now and feel like I’m running in circles, setting up the master pages from scrap over and over again. Is this a known bug? Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!
  6. I can see that a show orientation setting is stored in templates, but it really should be remembered between sessions. I never need it. Disabling it too much. I think it should be opt-in.
  7. I'm a new user of the Affinity Designer. I'm wondering if I can change the text to flow vertical while keeping the upright text orientation. For example, Chinese and Japanese text can be written vertical direction.
  8. The Transform panel does not show Height, it shows Length in all Affinity apps. A can of pop standing up is approx 4¾" high x 2 5/8" wide (120 cm H x 65 cm W). Lying down, it is approx 2 5/8" high by 4¾" wide. However, in all three Affinity applications, a pop can lying down shows as 4¾" HIGH x 2 5/8" wide. On other words, the Transform panel reports LENGTH (not height) regardless of orientation. Please see sample illustrations.
  9. Simple, 2-page document, letter-sized. Double-sided printing options are working backwards-- flip short side actually flips on the long edge, and flip long side actually flips on the short edge. I have seen a print driver that under certain circumstances gets this backwards, but in this case, I'm using a printer and driver that I print to many times a day in exactly this fashion, and other applications work correctly with the same printer and driver. Otherwise enjoying so far.
  10. So I've been using Affinity Designer now for about six months and just on this last artboard group that I've been working on I noticed that my artistic text tool is wonky. When I select the tool then move the cursor to create the size of text to start with, the text is much higher above my cursor and when I type, I am unable to get the cursor to select the bottom most row of text without using the keypad. It's like the box thinks my text is all much higher than it really is. Help! I am not loving the keystrokes to have to change my text.
  11. Hi, I have opened a previous document to edit and wish to change from portrait to landscape but can't deselect the portrait option when I reopen document setup. Any ideas on what the problem could be? Thanks
  12. In the forums, it appears as though the answers to my Q are to use a Frame Text tool, but the topics are a year old and I wonder if I've missed something. The canvas opens in portrait mode and I want to work with it in landscape. I can rotate it but text enters in the original orientation, so 90 degrees deviated from how it will be used/read. Many small segments of text throughout the canvas are needed. Can you suggest the most expedient solution? Thank you.
  13. When using Straighten in Crop, the grid appears in Portrait orientation and the top node where you can actually rotate the image is off-screen. It's unhandy and a right royal pain to have to drag the grid down every time! Why not use the Straighten tool instead? Because Rotate is faster and easier if you have a good eye for level. At least, it would be faster and easier if you didn't have to go chasing the grid every time. Could this please be fixed to fit both the size and orientation of the image like it is when simply doing a crop?
  14. Forgive me if this has already been addressed. I did some looking, but couldn't find anything. In AD, is there a way to make tools such as align (object), text tool, and nudge respect the current rotation of the canvas with regard to creation and manipulation? I'm sure it's no easy task, and understand why the program would behave this way—respecting the object's coord/origin according to the artboard—but it just seems counterintuitive at times. Don't get me wrong, the ability to rotate the canvas is fantastic, especially when it comes to packaging work, but not being able to manipulate objects in an intuitive way when the canvas is rotated counteracts the benefit a little. Thanks! :)
  15. Ever notice that your workspace/interface needs are quite different when you're working in 1) Portrait orientation versus 2) Landscape orientation? It's already quite constraining that computer screens are landscape-shaped – who ever told Steve Jobs and Bill Gates that computers should prioritize left-right over up-down?? Blame the fact that CRT displays evolved from Television tubes. :^( But damn them for making LCD screens even more h-o-r-i-z-o-n-t-a-l! But if you're designing a vertical layout or (lord have mercy on you!) an actual vertical portrait, you're reduced to cursing the gods of prevailing horizontality. We portraitists have to make the best of it, and get every vertical obstruction off to the side of the screen. Affinity, you can HELP! Please give us the option of switching the Toolbar into a vertical bar! (I know you'd have to figure something out for the doc tabs & parameter readouts, but you'll sort it out in your usual clever way.) A gift from heaven would be a toggle/switch command to flip from your usual interface layout, to one customized for portrait/vertical documents – with a vertical Toolbar. (I'm aware of Separated Mode and Toggle Full Screen – very helpful. But I need the toolbar and the info read-out, and don't want to be constantly Tab-Toggling interface On & Off, or Tool Bar Opt-Cmd-T.) Thanks for your serious consideration! - pbass
