  1. Hey Affinity team, this continues to be one of my recurring pains with the entire suite, and as someone who loves navigating menus and input fields with the keyboard it drives me crazy. I've raised the issue some years before, but I can't seem to find it again here on the forum. The (mis-)behaviour is incredibly annoying if you are used to working with keyboard shortcuts – every other software has a logical sequence for jumping/changing the active field with tabs. As far as the whole Affinity suite is concerned, I only recognise fragmentary connections that do not correspond to any logic, and this is independent of the desktop operating system (Mac/Win). Sometimes the cursor jumps to the next field, sometimes nothing happens, sometimes you get a hint or error tone. The key combination Shift + Tab, which normally jumps to the previous field, does not work either. Therefore: Please, it would be great if you could clean up the logic in the suite – even if it costs a lot of time, talking about creating tab-enabled forms in Acrobat. 😪. In addition, tabbed navigation also allows for better accessibility. I would love to see and improvement on this matter in a future update! 🙂 Cheers Dennis
  2. this is a rare issue but when it happens I have to reopen the program. I am not sure how this is happening this time but my guesses are; when switching to another window and coming back when going to any other panel inside affinity i.e. adjusting perspective tool when doing all above by panning with your pen. ( my pen's middle button is binded to middle click) quick specs: using windows 10, wacom one tablet, affinity photo 2.2.0.2005(beta)
  3. Please introduce a spacebar to zoom option in Affinity apps, it is much more accessible. For people who have acces to a three (or more button) mouse and/ or a pen tablet with remappable buttons, it would be neat to set zooming to Spacebar. I don't like the Ctrl+Spacebar zoom, especially since you need to press Ctrl first. However, with the aforementioned input devices, it is fair to assume users can leverage a middle mouse button to pan their view. I for one never use spacebar for panning at all. Whereas in Krita, I am able to opt to zooming by pressing just the spacebar and click dragging my pen. Anyone who wants a simplified zooming experience should be able to configure this, whereas those without such devices can still use the existing navigation methods.
  4. It would be great, when Affinity Photo would work with 3d connection space mouse. At least zooming and changing the of a size of a pen. I'd like to use it with my old wacom tablet. Pen in one hand and simple zooming and navigating with 3d mouse would be perfect. Thank you!
  5. When I try to open a file or place an image I am not able to click on a folder, open, save, etc. I am able to hit return to select the button that has focus. I have found that other applications are having the same problem (MS Word, etc). STRANGE FIX: Resize the file selection window to allow for navigation. Weird.
  6. My computer froze while I was minimizing my screen on Affinity and the bottom right navigation panel that shows zoom in and previous editing breakdown box was removed from the Affinity screen put onto desktop. I deleted it from desktop only to find that that also deleted the panel in Affinity even after restarting the program. How do I get it back?
  7. Hi guys, thank you for reading this. I would ask you to consider a very smart and intuitive way to navigate the canvas. Illustrator (and also Photoshop with some minor difference) uses the modifier keys Ctrl, Alt, Shift and Space in combination to activate or deactivate certain tools. This solution is very useful and super fast because you do not need to move your fingers over the keyboards and you do not need to hit a key twice to activate/deactivate a tool, but with just 4 keys you can access to all the navigation tools, like pan, zoom, select, and so on. You probably already know what I'm referring about, but I'll add a list of the most common combos (please note that being a combo means also to hold them together while using the tool): Ctrl = Object Selection (or, if Object Selection is active, it triggers Element Selection) Ctrl + Space = Zoom In Ctrl + Space + Alt = Zoom Out Alt = Drag Copy (also after clicking for drag, atm it works just before) If you have to deal with conflicts among other shortcuts, like combos already used for other functions, please contact me and I'll be happy to deal with it. Finding the same interface as the most popular software would have many advantages: - reduce frustration and improve experience using the software - reduce adoption time - triggers interoperability between software (so you can use the same habits while switching from one sw to another...yes, someone still does) - uses a model already spread and tested, based on years of experience I totally understand that this is another software and it's normal to not expect to find the same stuff of the competitors, but this is not the kind of thing that makes AD positively different from its competitors (imho of course); making the transition from one software to another as smooth as possible for as many users as possible I think is more valuable. I and a bunch of other folks would really love to find these combos in the next updates. Thank you for your attention. p.s. dear reader of this topic, please, add here other combos that you would like to have in the future.
  8. As far as I can tell there is no media navigation browser capability in Affinity Photo as you might find in Adobe Lightroom, Graphic Converter Pro, Adobe Bridge, etc. It will be a big help if a resource folder tree and navigation thumbnails could be implemented along the left hand side or wherever to be able to browser and edit multiple photos, saving them all in batch, rather then having one photo assigned to one tab as seems to be the current way of open multiple photos. If say I wanted to open a folder of 50 folders and had to create 50 tabs for those photos, it would be pretty difficult to navigate through each of those photos, or comparing a couple photos side by side. To a lesser degree, but equally important, since most DSLRs and MILCs support video these days, the ability to display those along with the photos and do very basic edits like trims or set the poster frame of a video clip would also be nice to have. This is already doable in Apple's Photos app. Cheers, Jerry Tokyo, Japan
  9. I am frequently interrupted in my work by the whole image of the document shifting on the screen, often almost entirely disappearing off the bottom of the Affinity image window. I have tried to turn off all of the "hand signal" motions that the latest OS offers. Nevertheless, I frequently get these shifts, making me need to relocate the image I am working on by using the hand cursor. Does anyone have a remedy for this behavior? Thanks.
  10. My more complicated drawings use lots of groups and nested groups. Finding where an object is located is sometimes rather tricky. When I click in the drawing on the grouped object, I can continue to click to drill down to the object that is several levels down in a group. But in the layers navigator the indication is not very clear. If all groups are collapsed, I pretty much have to open all of them to figure out which object I just selected in the drawing. I do name my objects but even then, it is still taking too much time. It would be great if the grouped object can more more clearly highlighted and possibly brought into focus so that all I have to do is to click it open and any one of the nested object till the one I am targeting. Hope my description is clear...
  11. Hello--I inadvertently lost my right hand panel for layers, history, navigation, etc. Can you help please? Context Toolbar is checked and left panel is displayed. Thanks.
  12. It's impossible to navigate with arrow keys in the layer menu. Selecting a layer highlights it, pressing "down arrow" moves the layer downward instead of moving the selection one step down. I get the point, and I'm not a professional designer, but it doesn't feel intuitive to me. I'm so used to left/right to expand/contract a group and up/down to move around in any given tree structure.
  13. One feature I think all programs of this nature need to adapt is the navigation wheel from sketchbook pro. I've yet to find it on any other program and yet for navigation (zoom/pan/rotate) it simply can't be matched for ease of use. Photoshop and affinity already use the space bar to pan the canvas around, but what if affinity added a navigation wheel similar to sketchbook pro? It would make it hugely more useful, especially when using a graphics tablet, as you don't need to keep switching back and forth between rotate-brush-zoom-brush-rotate-erase etc etc. Any thoughts on this? I've attached an image of it in case anyone hasn't already seen it.
