  1. I've been holding off posting until our Indie VR game is just about ready for release - within the next couple of months on Steam. I've been using both Photo and Designer since soon after they were released for Windows and, having used the Adobe suite for the day job (for many years), I want to thank the team as in this short time, I already greatly prefer the Affinity suite. Back on topic - The game is called Professor Chuckenhope and is based on the classic knife-throwing vaudeville act, with many twists. As a duo, with myself being the modelling/art-side of the project, we could not have achieved as much as we have as quickly as we have, without the easy Photo/Designer workflow, for the majority of the texturing. Everything apart from the character models (which are painted within Blender, but also using Photo for added details) has been textured/illustrated purely using the Designer/Photo combo. All logos have been created entirely within Designer. As we're currently still working on polishing the final build, I've not had time to work on any high quality 'stills' renders yet, but these are a few working renders, along with a promotional banner, combining and enhancing various rendered elements and the logo within Photo. To see it in motion, we currently have a teaser trailer on our site, with a full trailer also being worked on. www.tiltedreality.online Please excuse the current Wix header, we're a 'shoestring' indie duo after all! Again, a huge thanks to the team, as we would have struggled to achieve anything close to this quality with any other software. Looking forward to trying the Publisher beta.
  2. In this Affinity Photo tutorial, We will learn how to create a typographic portrait effect in Affinity Photo or Affinity Designer. Watch Full Video Portrait Text Effect Speedy.mp4
  3. Dear Affinity Team Is there any chance for Polish translation of your (our) excellent software? Sincerly yours Olaf from Warsaw, Poland
  4. In this short tutorial of a user request, I'll show you how to create an incision/ cut info graphic in Affinity Designer 1.6.1 and how to use it in Affinity Photo 1.6.7 as an image brush or as a vector graphic with the place function. Keep on drawin' Norbert
  5. been playing around this afternoon with some different methods of creating custom brushes. Thought I'd share some of the results. this small group of 5 brushes will work in both affinity photo and Designer (Pixel Persona) There are a couple that might make interesting borders, and some that just make interesting grunge or painterly effects experimental Brushes.afbrushes
  6. Hi, lets put the things this way: We create new folders (and additional, if needed) for every new customer. In these folders we put every vector, bitmap files we need for the current job. When we open the main file, all other used files from the subfolders are loaded into that file. So, could it be done the fonts, we put in the main folder, to be temporarily instaled and loaded while we work on our design?
  7. Hello friends, I leave this recent composition that I made for a client. It was made entirely in Affinity Designer 1.6.1. I used the Affinity Photo perfection brush to define pair of images. I love the freedom, power, speed, versatility and significant time saving of this wonderful software, I love it haha. I hope you can enjoy and let your imagination go, that the software can stand anything you can imagine. Long live Affinity.
  8. Hi everyone, This is from a year ago or so. I'm now doing something else with this brand so I thought I should share the older ones. I hope you like it. Some older iteration:
  9. The lion and the unicorn were fighting for the crown, The lion beat the unicorn all around the town. Some gave them white bread, and some gave them brown; Some gave them plum cake and drummed them out of town. I thought it would be much better if they made it up and went for a pint at The Crown. It's done in Designer, with a couple of brief excursions into Photo to blur the background and stop it competing with the important bits, and to reduce the brightness of the unicorn a little. The woodgrain and the badges on the beer pulls are bitmaps acquired online, but otherwise everything is my own.
  10. This thread is locked, if you have any installation queries please make a new thread in the Questions forum During the installation of the Affinity range on Windows, the following issues can be flagged. Please see below the descriptions and possible mitigations available. Unable to upgrade applications - "There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package." This is a known issue with MSI based installers on Windows. Some PCs and laptops run 32-bit OS. - Please see https://support.microsoft.com/help/13443 Which Windows operating system am I running? Windows 7 Service Pack 1 or higher not found Affinity requires Windows 7 Service pack 1 - this can be installed through Windows Update. Aero requirement to run the Software We require Desktop Windows Management Composition, rather than native Graphics drivers. This is natively on for Windows 8 and 10, but on Windows 7 this is most easily achieved by turning Aero ON. If you are not willing to turn the Aero theme on there is a work around described in this post, but any issues when running the software won't be logged unless they've been verified as still occurring with DWM Composition enabled. 11. Hi, I use Affinity Photo iPad, how can get the "Luminance brush"?
  12. The project is finally done. For the past 13 weeks I’ve been working on a gaming magazine while at SAE. The magazine deals with gaming but unlike other magazines where they talk about news and reviews TossUp talks about in-depth gaming information such as what works, what dose not, fail within games, game mechanics and more. The project was made with a mix of affinity designer, affinity photo and indesign. (This project was made for a uni assessment and is not a real magazine.) If you would like to view the magazine online click here: https://adobe.ly/2Ex6EaF Below are mockups of the magazine. What do you think of the magazine? __ In need of a graphic design? Then you came to the right place. 13. Hi All, We’re getting ready to launch the version 1.6 updates of Affinity Photo and Designer and we need your help! To support all the marketing we do – web pages, videos, social media posts or in-app samples – it’s great to have photos and artwork which our users have created to show off the capability of our apps. So, we wanted to reach out to you to ask if you have any fantastic work you would be happy for us to use in this way. In addition to forming part of the publicity campaign to promote the possibilities of our apps to new users, you’ll receive a fee of US$300 to license each piece we use. For our Affinity Photo marketing we mostly need incredible photos of any subject matter - landscapes, model shots, nature, architecture, weddings, sports, automotive, etc. Also any work which utilises focus stacking, HDR, panorama stitching, 360 images or full multi-layered compositions would be great too. For Affinity Designer we need any work created in the app – illustrations, web / app mock ups, icons, logos, print projects, paintings, etc. To get an idea of what we have used before, check out our website (affinity.serif.com) or the latest product videos: AFFINITY PHOTO VIDEO AFFINITY DESIGNER VIDEO If you have created anything you think might be suitable, and as long as you are the copyright owner and hold all the rights to license the work to us, then please get in touch. You can send your photos or designs to consider to affinityart@serif.com. A flattened PNG or JPG (or a link if you have a gallery on Behance, etc.) is fine at this stage, though if you’re successful we’ll ultimately need the full res image or Affinity file. Please keep your initial submission down to a maximum of five files but by all means let us know if have more. The closing date for submissions is 25th August 2017. If you have any questions then please don’t hesitate to ask us on affinityart@serif.com. We look forward to checking out your work! Thanks, Ash
  14. Hi all, here are some of my work for Bulgarian Libertarian Society https://goo.gl/CNq74y all done with Affinity Photo and Designer. Images in colages are from pixabay.com.
  15. just a bit of fun. main work done in designer the eye of the feather was created in designer then edited in photo. I really like how I can go into photo apply a live filter and then come back into designer and have that live filter in designer and editable.
  16. Can we consider a File > Close All menu option for the future, particularly for Photo I often have multiple files open and need a quick way to close them all
  17. This article relates to purchases direct from our own store https://affinity.store We license Affinity Software for iPad and Mac OS through their respective App stores, independently of Windows and the license is not transferable and needs to be bought for each independent OS (Windows/Mac/iOS) you wish to use it on. If you have a query regarding a placed order, that query should not be dealt with in a public forum like this, as we do not recommend sharing personal details like email address in public posts. Here are some solutions to common problems Where is the Designer 1.5 Launch offer Free Content? If you ordered Affinity Designer for Windows software during the launch offer, you should have received 3 emails 1 of 3 Welcome to Affinity (for Account Creation) 2 of 3 Affinity order confirmation - AXXXXXXXXX (for a Software Order or Workbook order) 3 of 3 Affinity Product Key - Order AXXXXXXXXX (for a Software Order) In the one titled "Affinity order confirmation - AXXXXXXXXX" you will find 2 buttons one to download the software and one called "Get the freebies" that links to the Grade-UI kit etc. You will not find this link in your online Affinity store account, only in the order confirmation email. Order emails have not arrived If you have ordered/paid for software on the Affinity store, you should have received 3 emails 1 of 3 Welcome to Affinity (for Account Creation) 2 of 3 Affinity order confirmation - AXXXXXXXXX (for a Software Order or Workbook order) 3 of 3 Affinity Product Key - Order AXXXXXXXXX (for a Software Order) If you did not get these (and they are not in your spam folder) then you will probably need our assistance to resolve this. As you have paid for the software we will locate your account and either refund the payment or if the email was typed in incorrectly, change the email address over to the corrected one. To get us to start this process, please email affinity@serif.com with your name, email address used on the order and how you paid and tell us what you bought (and when). We will do our best to find your account. and once found, we can tell you how to proceed. If it was an error in the email address used to create the account we will tell you what address it was created with and you can follow the next set of instructions in this post. Incorrect Email Address (but you know what you typed wrong) If you have ordered/paid for software, but accidentally used an incorrect email address on your account, then you should login to the account using the wrong email address (if you know what you typed and the password for the account) and change the email address to the corrected one. Your account will from that point onwards use the new email address for logging in. Changing Account Email Address If you wish to change the address used for your Serif Account then you may. All previous Affinity software product keys generated using the original address will remain unchanged. You should always install the software with the email address and product key pair as they were when you placed the order, and as they appear in your account order downloads page. Returns and refunds If you are not satisfied with your product for any reason, you may return it within a 14 day period after receipt of your product to receive a full refund to affinityreturns@serif.com . See the returns section of our help and support page for more details. How do I obtain a VAT receipt? See the Billing section of our help and support page for more details. Licensing Digital Software orders made from the Affinity Store can be installed by one user on any number of Windows PCs that are for the sole use of one person, OR on one computer for any number of users on it. The legal wording is replicated in the Digital Orders section in the store help guide.
  18. How are we going to get updates? I can't see any menu option, like "Check for updates".
  19. In this short tutorial I'll will show you how to create an Affinity Designer template with nested symbols to draw snowflakes, ice crystals and other interesting things in all Affinity products. The content of this tutorial isn't new but I think at this time of year a nice idea to draw some nice snowflakes, ice crystals, stars... Have fun to draw your own... and keep on drawin' Norbert

  21. Greetings! I had to do a bit of study and homework in order to wrap my head around the clipping and masking operations in Designer and Photo. In the process, I developed a one-page infographic (attached), and it apparently has already helped some folks on the Affinity Designer and Photo Group in FaceBook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/AffinityDesignerPhotoPublisher/. I will be updating it shortly, but wanted share the first version here for comments and suggestions. Enjoy! Clipping vs Masking.pdf
  22. I think that 25+ years of experience with DTP apps like PageMaker, FrameMaker, QuarkXPress, InDesign and DOA (Design Oriented Apps) like FreeHand, CorelDRAW, Illustrator, Xara, Photoshop, give me room to say my opinion about Publisher, Designer and Photo. And this is: Publisher should be free of DOA features. All these years I never ever used these kind of features in DTP apps. I always like everthing clean: DTP for finalizing/merging text with design and DOA for design. If you develop separate DOA you don’t need it’s tools in DTP app and vice versa. Quark needs it, but Publisher does not. Publisher file format should not be open in Designer or Photo. Could you open ID files in AI or PS? No? Why? Because it is not supposed to work that way. But opposite is quite OK. It must, which is normal. DTP features must be removed from DOA. Artboards are OK. But pages, text chain, character and paragraph styles... No. Local character and paragraph formating and text effects (warp text effects like in Photoshop?!) is OK. Text effects in PS instead in AI? Video editing in PS? Character and paragraph formating in AI and PS? Adobe totally lost it’s compass. Publisher and Designer. Only 2 apps instead of 3. Designer and Photo must be merged into one app because they share the same purpose, a lot of code and recently -- same bug fixes. It will be also a war against bloatware. As separate apps their instalation size is 500+ Mb and if they are merged I suppose it will be cca 300 Mb or less. Not to mention how much space they take on HD when installed. If you need ideas for another apps then you can make your own Math equation and Chemistry formulae editor(s) and a Music score app.
  23. Hey guys, Some months ago I saw a redesigned Apple Music, I liked the idea, so made my own. To check out all the story behinds it, I made a huge publication on medium, with images and screens all made on Affinity Designer and Photo. would love to you guys check it out! https://medium.com/@gustavoantoniogonalves/i-saw-a-redesigned-apple-music-so-i-kinda-redesigned-it-again-8b3dfb5c5abf?source=linkShare-92ff1568a988-1507110699
