hello, I am new here. I bought affinity fror mac as an alternative to the very expansive Adobe lease. Now i want to give in the meta-data for a photo wghioch I have scanned or made into the file ,e.g. author, title, copyright and source. You can I do this? I didn't find any information about this topic. It would be wonder full if someone could give me an answer.
Hi, when exporting an image (e.g. *jpg) automatically the meta data is included in the file. I can change that with the "more" option in the export-dialog. Is there a chance to set this option to NOT to include the meta data per default? I don't want the meta data inside my images and now I have to disable it EVERY time... Thanks...
I was wondering if it would be interesting to create space for a notes field in the file properties (I'm aware I'm opening a can of worms there, IMHO there should also be room for data such as creator, company and copyright which then inevitably segways into a discussion about EXIF data too - allow me to stay away from that for now). I've seen someone talk about a description/information layer but that's inside the design, what I'm talking about is the ability to store meta data with the document which describes content, with or without tags and other fun stuff that you could actually search for if the search facility, file system or DAM supports it. At the moment, the only means to store data with a design is to add a box somewhere with some description or rely on a DAM to add external tags to a file which can get lost and which do not travel with the file in a makeshift collaborative environment. Ironically, document properties are a default feature in wordprocessors such as MS Office and LibreOffice which are the one facility that needs it less because you can actually search in the file contents - no such luck with graphics.. Opinion?
Hi, As you are no doubt beavering away at making Affinity products even better (and I can't wait to hear of any update on any DAM and DTP products, hint ;) ;) ), maybe it's time to throw this into the mix: meta data handling. Especially those that work commercially need to make sure their meta data is set correctly as that often influences how the work is archived, retrieved, distributed and sold. This means different things in different formats (in PNG and JPG it would be stored in PCT/EXIF tags, but PDF has quite a few fields too), but there are some common themes: artist/author, copyright holder and maybe distribution. Where possible a freeform field would be good where the meta format allows, because you could use that for library markings (which could help with a DAM retrieval mode, for instance). To use this, you'd need facilities to set and edit these fields, and a way to template an optional default. At present there's nothing for that in the AD/AP export facilities so you end up having to reprint/edit PDFs and run the venerable exiftool over images to add the data. Cheers! PS: I'll be in London next week - if any of you guys venture into town I'll buy you a beer :P
