Hi, is there a way to measure and mark a certain distance in Affinity Designer (vector), ie if I want to place a dot 2 inches along a curved or straight line? The ruler tool allows you to measure, but as far as I can tell, you can't mark a distance. I have been just using the pen tool, creating a line and measuring that, although I'm not sure how accurate it is for curves and it's a rather cumbersome process. Thanks-

Hello there. In your version for ipad, how can I see the length when drawing lines? I need to make scaled drawings. How can I do it in this program? I am thinking of buying but I have read that there is no tool for ruler and measurement, is it true ?

Hi there, For my work I want to make patterns with affinity designer. I studied it for a bit and run into this problem. We use A3 sheets of pattern, the patterns are in real size. When printing we are always 1 cm to big to short. I am looking now to measure the lines but cannot find any option for this. Is there a way to do this? To get the exact measurement that I want. Rgds. intelligent_rulers_upd2.afdesign Because some are waiting tooooooooo long for better rulers including a “change origin point” feature, we made a flexible ruler for dm, Berthold points, Pica points, Didot points, DTP Cicero and other units that you can change easily for your own needs just in seconds. Even if you need furlong, light-nanoseconds, Fournier point … no problem. Now you can have many rulers with different units at the same time. And they even can measure curves. Some backgrounds can be found somewhere. Have fun and help to improve Affinity apps. The old ones: intelligent_rulers.afdesign intelligent_rulers_upd.afdesign

Today I learned that pasting elements between Designer documents with different resolution results on different object size. This is a normal behavior on bitmap software, like Photo or Photoshop, because they work with pure pixels and must adapt to the number of pixels the pasted image has upon the resolution, but is a complete hassle on vector apps like Designer, where the key is that you usually design on physical objet size, independently of resolution. This is specially hard when you are working with exact measures, like packaging or any technical illustration. I suggest three possible solutions A: Document or application setting to allow users to select their preference on copy pasting. B: Let the app auto select the pasting behavior based on the measure unit for the documents. (Preference to resolution if pixels unit, or preference to real size if a measure unit is selected) C: Special paste command for "paste preserving size" Hope I'm not the only one finding this important on his workflow. cheers!

The smart snapping / guides are really coming along! Any chance we can get distance functionality from other shapes as well? I added a gif demonstrating the functionality.

Been trying out the beta and very nice so far. I sometimes need to position things quite accurately so interested in the measuring tools. On my machine, the Alt key doesn't activate the guides as described in the help. However, the Ctrl key does. Presumably related, but Ctrl-Z does not undo, and Shft-Ctrl-Z doesn't redo... both work fine from the menu. I looked to see if there is a dimension object but couldn't find one. CorelDraw has these and updates the dimension as an object is resized (scaled according to the drawing scale factor, of course).. is there a way to do this in AD? Steve
