  1. Hello, I'm trying to export some SVGs but there is always some extra white space around the exported SVG, no matter if I go through the export function or export persona. I can't find a way to simply export any elements without extra margins around the vectors. Maybe anyone here has an idea... As an example from the export persona. When selecting a group, it always creates some margins, as seen here. First rectangle is the border of the group, second rectangle is the export slice. Also interesting to see is that the margin around the Text is simply to the next pixel, however it's a couple of pixels from the rectangles/lines.
  2. I left a similar comment on a new feature addition of the 2.4 beta (Space Horizontal / Vertical now considers key object) in the excitement of the moment, unaware of its "suggestion nature". I'll elaborate more on this post. Affinity's "Tidy up" version What I was referring to is a "logical next step" of the new alignment behaviors in the 2.4 beta: an option that would equally or separately distribute the space between objects selected horizontally and vertically, in a similar fashion to the "Tidy up" option present in Figma. The result being a grid that may also let us set a specific space between each item in the two axes. Quick grids case The Affinity apps already promote the creation and management of grids with the "Quick grids" option: by pressing the right or down arrow key while creating a shape you'll see duplicates, which also let the user set a distance between them by long pressing the same keys. Promotional material showcasing product design uses cases I'm fully aware that the scope of an app like, for example, Affinity Designer is a bit different from the likes of Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, etc. In the sense that it's not really trying to be a prototyping tool, but we are all aware that the promotional materials showcase product design use cases. And such uses cases would certainly benefit people like web designers, for example. So it's then to be expected that the Affinity Team would obviously be aware of such features, and I know they are . So that's why in my original comment I asked if something like this was already being thought on for a future update. Thanks!
  3. Hello everyone, I would like to cover one of our shop windows with decals applied to the back. In the print specifications, there is a trim margin (3mm) and a safety distance (3 mm), so a total of 6 mm. Since you can only print up to 1.30 m in width, I have created several artboards in Affinity Designer and simply added the 3 mm trim margin in white. However, in the final print, it did not quite fit with overlapping fonts, even if you cannot see it from a further distance. What is the best way to handle this in practice, so that it looks seamlessly perfect when fonts/logos/images span across several window sections (decals)? Thank you very much!
  4. The margin color is not updating when changing in View > Guides I attached a video. This is using the latest Designer Beta but it is present in the current build (2.0.4) as well. (Note) Weirdly enough I did get it to shift once to one of the colors I chose (I believe 2nd), but it remained on that color from that point. No idea what the trigger was for that behavior. (No audio) 23.02.28_08-47-49-PM_NV12_1920x1080.mp4
  5. Would be great to be able to add margins to multiple artboards at the same time. Same with guides and have the guides move with the artboard. Thanks!
  6. Include Automatic Preview in Margin setting. Can't see the preview on page when adjusting the "Margin" and it also not working on clicking OK. To see the changes made you must click the "Show Margin" again in the view menu. its so hard. hope you will adjust this. see below image
  7. Hello, Create a single-page vertical A5 document with these settings. Rename the layout and change the left 13, right 15 margins. Place objects. Modify the layout to look at the margins. There are 3 types of errors, not always reproducible: The name (Chapitre I gauche) disappears from the input field, Left becomes Inside and Right becomes Outside, The values 13 of Left (or Inside) and 10 of Top are swapped.
  8. Apologies for the very newbie question. I’m trying to get my image print ready and I’m not sure if I need a bleed if I already have a white margin. I would like the white border as a part of the design. If I do need a bleed, how do I get the white border to stretch past into the bleed?
  9. Modifying margins, I got this. Left and right margin values are swapped. Here, left input box controls right margin and vice versa, as you can see on the image. E.g. left margin should be 14mm, but instead, right margin is 14pt. I cannot say exactly how this happens but I think I get this sometimes when starting a document as facing pages document and changing to single pages afterwards. Sometimes I would switch from 'facing pages' document to single pages document and still see 'inside' and 'outside' margin input boxes.
  10. Hey Affinity guys, Thanks for all your hard work and creating this lovely, lovely suite. Ive purchased all three pieces of software and love them so far BUT there is one thing ive noticed in Publisher, it might seem small but I loved the feature and have grown very fond of it with my typography layout …. 1: I need and cant find the option on the baseline grid to trap my baseline within the outer margin (from left to right) so the baseline is NOT visible outside the set margin (top, bottom, side to side). It is an option in Indesign and I was very fond of it, it makes my working document look cleaner and helps me see how objects will float outside the 'no go' margin areas in my working doc. Please can we have this tool added. Thankyouuuuuuuuuu
  11. I have been experimenting with drop caps in my poetry layouts and like the possibilities it offers. However, is it possible to have a Drop Cap out-dented from a paragraph or text body style so that it appears as though it is in a margin only?
  12. Hi! I understand through quick online searching that it is possible to create bleeding edges on Affinity Designer. Is this possible on Affinity Photo? I can't seem to find out how.
  13. The current possibility to set the origin of the Grid and Ruler is great - thank you. But would it be possible to allow a quick and easy setting of the origin according to the set Margins? For example, at define margins in document settings, check the separate checkboxes "Set Grid / Ruler origin to margin".
  14. How can I add document margin in affinity designer for iPad ?
  15. In Document Setup when changing unit type from say Inches to Centimetres and either tabbing to the next input box or clicking on an input box the unit type doesn't change until you click OK and then go back into the Document setup. Typing in those input boxes will still show "in" not "cm" Another option you should have is to be able to sync all or selected inputs instead of having to type in each one, this goes for all affinity apps with bleeds and also margins.
  16. For the Baseline Grid Manager, there is the option to start the baseline relative to 'Top of Spread', 'Top of Page', or 'Top of Margin'. I have it set to top of margin, which should start it at the start of my margin (as it goes in the ID example, in orange). However, it still starts it at the top of the page (Publisher example in purple).
  17. Hi I'm trying to auto distribute a group of squares along a 3d looking axis. Is there a way to do this at all? Or what is the best way to do this?..... If I do this by eye/hand it might take a while Cheers! Ben
  18. [new user] What is the best/easiest to specify the print size and margins? I'm used to a print dialog that lets me specify the size and each margin. For instance, I want to print my image 4"x5" with 1/2" border top and left on letter size paper. Later I'll print the same image with other dimensions. Thanks,
  19. Hi, I currently work on some document with blue background colour. In that case, the document margins are truly invisible. It could be nice to have a way to set the colour of margin (and guide) lines somewhere in the Preferences panel. Thanks.
  20. I'm pretty sure my margins used to show outside the document like photoshop but all of a sudden they're gone and it's bugging the hell out of me? How do I make them show again?
  21. Hello! I'm wondering if Affinity Designer has the option for me to export a file (for instance .jpeg / .png) that will export the web design I made and show the margins / padding between certain objects. This makes it easy for a programmer to program the design in WP / Joomla etc. I quickly made an example and attached it to the topic. The distances are not correct but you get my point. Kind regards, Kevin
  22. Hello, I have got a simple question concerning the grid system. I would like to create a 12 grid system with margins on an artboard. I found the margin settings of the document and also the grid system which works fine. But how can I set up these 12 grids only within the "type area" and not until the end of the whole artboard? (I am usually a printdesigner but would like to learn more about UI/UX Design). Thank you so much for your help! Best regards
  23. I can't seem to great a print document with margins, whether I check artboard or no artboard. The margins settings below are always greyed out. Same thing is I try to create the document and the go to document setup. I'm shocked, what am I missing?
  24. It would be great for a UI designer to define margins and paddings for objects' bounding boxes and then add an option for enabling margin/padding alignment.
  25. Please add a customizable gutter selection to the Margin Menu. This is great for publishing. Thanks, Banjina
