  1. For me this is a "must be" feature for Affinity Photo. When I have for example 1000 raw's to develop one by one this app is unusable now I need to use another programs. I am sure that most of Affinity Photo users will want this feature badly.

Macros - using expressions on macros

Hello I have a question regarding the use of expressions on macros. This is the situation: I have several images with different sizes, and I need to create a macro to change the canvas. Since the images have different sizes, I need to use expressions but somehow I cannot make it work. Let's assume 2 images: Image A: 2100x1000px Image B: 1900x700px I need to add 200px at the bottom of the image. I add the expression +=200 to the height, unlocking the padlock and placing the anchor on top. It works fine but the macro saves the final value (in Image A it would be 1200px) and not the expression. If I apply the same macro to image B, the final image will have 1200px instead of 900px. Am I doing something wrong? Thank you in advance
  3. Windows version when in Batch Job, does not show the Macro Library or allow macros to be accessed. This is an essential part of image processing for me and, I imagine, many others too. I suspect it is available to Mac users, however.

  6. Hi, I am trying to install the free macro pack. When I follow the instructions in the Qiuick start guide the files do not show up in Explorer (Win 10). (See attached photos.) What am I doing wrong?
  7. When I record a macro, and then apply it within a batch process, part of the macro is implemented differently to how it was recorded. The specific steps that go wrong are in relation to placing and positioning an image as part of the macro. Here's what I record doing: 1. Resize document to 500 x 500 2. Place image into document in topmost layer (being used as a watermark) 3. Resize placed image to 500 x 500 4. Align placed image to bottom right of document. Here's what the macro records: 1. Document properties 2. Add Image 3. Transform 4. Transform 5. Arrange Nodes Here's what the macro does when run within a batch process: 1. Scales the image 2. Adds the placed image over the top of the original 3. Saves new image according to batch parameters Here's what's wrong with the new image: 1. The placed image is not scaled to 500 x 500, but is much bigger and pixellated. Here's what I discovered on investigating this anomaly: 1. On reviewing the settings of the Transform steps in the Macro Panel, the settings of 500 x 500 are not recorded, only a scale factor of 100% x 100%. Even though the original placed file is already 500 x 500 for some reason the batch process ignores or misinterprets these steps and places the image at a much much larger scale. 2. When I run the macro within Affinity, and not part of a batch process, the placed image is scaled EVEN LARGER than when placed as part of the batch process, resulting in the 500 x 500 placed image being placed at 557256.3 x 557256.3. Clearly something is not right about how Affinity is interpreting Transform steps in macros. Does anyone have any solution?
  8. Affinity Photo v 1.5.1.54 Windows 10.1 Macros are saved as *.afmacro files. But Macro Library only recognises *afmacros files. So a saved macro is not visible to Library - import macros. In fact, an *afmacro file is entirely invisible to A.P.. Adding the missing final "s" to the file name does not cure the problem as Affinity Photo then declares the renamed *macros file as having an "Unexpected Macros Format". A macro can be saved but not used again. I have 770 images files in need of a macro-driven batch job. Please tell me I don't have to do it manually, 770 times.

    Macros work, but with issues

I’ve just started (re)building a number of macros to replicate my previous Photoshop macros. I needed a simple text layer to include the current date. It took me a while to notice that both text tools aren’t available for macros, because the prompt that was trying to inform me appeared behind a floating palette. I was able to work around this by creating a text layer separately, cutting it to the clipboard and then creating a “paste” macro. (I hope this will be added soon-ish?) Renaming macros was an ordeal. Right-clicking (or as I prefer, ctrl-clicking) seems to work only 1 out of 10–100 times. At the other 9–99 times the macro would just start running as if clicked normally. Last, I wish the batch dialogue would remember its last destination folder or allow to name a “favourite”. (AP 1.5.1 (English) on macOS 10.12.1 (German))

    Edit Macro greyed out

When I right click a macro in the Library tab, the "Edit Macro" option is gray. How does one enable it, or under what circumstances is it enabled? Using 1.5.1.54.
  13. Hi Guys, so i am trying to create a macro to watermark my work. However when I want create the text, there is an error message "Macro recorder: Can not record: Graphiktext hinzufügen [adding graphic text]" (For now using affinity in German). Please, please help me, what am I doing wrong?
  14. Hi, how do I create a macro from a level? Basically I created a 'watermark' and now i want to create a macro from that 'text level' so that I can batch process on a bunch of photos. Thanks for your help.
  15. When trying to follow the macro tutorial video on vimeo (https : // vimeo.com / 192599545) I keep getting an error that doesn't happen on the video. It happens right away when I try and rename a layer. The attached error comes up. I hesitate to say this but I can't be doing anything wrong because at that point in the tutorial you just open an image, duplicate the layer, and rename it. Is there a version difference between windows and mac? I notice he is working on a mac. Thanks for any insight.
  16. Hello, I add a logo/watermark to my photos using 'Place'. I place a PNG image in the corner. Now i want to add this to a macro, but when i run it, it won't show the PNG in the corner. (it does show the layer, but the PNG is not visible) Placing the logo/watermark on every photo is too much work, can i automate this with a macro? Is 'Place' the best option, or do you have a better solution. Attached is a photo with my logo/watermark.
  17. Hi When i try to record a macro in the windows version of Affinity Photo, I am unable to switch between layers. For example if I create 2 duplicates of my background layer, and make a high pass adjustment to the top layer, I am then unable to switch to the layer beneath to make another adjustment. Also, I am unable to change the name of any layers whilst the macro is recording. Any help much appreciated.
  18. I created a macro in which I press ⌘⌥I, type 2000 in the 2nd box, select Bicubic, and press resize. When I run the macro, the result doesn't preserve aspect ratio, and I suspect it doesn't use Bicubic, either. What can I do to make this work? Bobby
  19. This may be not be a bug, although by the logic on other software and features like "Sublayers" on Affinity Photo, I'm assuming that it is. I'm recording a macro in which I want to consolidate all the layers of the macro into a single folder, and I have a layer structure like this: And it works as intended, all the adjustment layers inside the MACRO folder affect how the pixel "Background" layer looks and I can hide the effect by just hiding the MACRO folder. BUT, as soon as I add a pixel layer anywhere inside the folder, even if it's completely empty, it all breaks and my macro edits become invisible, and they seem to only affect the pixel layer inside the folder, I've verified that my folder is completely visible with "Passthrough" as blending mode. So basically the folder is becoming the sum of all child layers and acting like a pixel layer on its own instead of just grouping. The reason I think this is a bug it's because the folder is not acting any different as if I were to merge its child layers, IMO folder are for structural reasons and only affect the way the child layers interact if the folder itself has its opacity or blending mode edited or has effects apply to itself (not the child layers, and if possible). And because if I wanted to limit the adjustment layers to the PIXEL layer inside the folder I should add them as SUBLAYERS to it, like so: am I right?
  20. Hello everyone! Do you know if there is a way to record changes made to brushes? It would be nice to be able to just click on a macro to set, for example, 120px, 25% opaque, 100% flow, 50% hardness. Best wishes, Shu
  21. Hi, how further is the Mac version with Macros/Library? I suppose the Win version is maybe in progress now. However.... Macros: At this moment I can see only few settings editable (opacity, blend mode), but it would be much better when we are able to modify all the parameters (curves, levels, colors...). Also the name of a layer as a parameter would be nice.... Library: I would prefer double click to run a macro from a library, otherwise I am always doing one click to display the macro, but it also already runs it. As mentioned, I suppose there will be surely done more work on this topic to 1.6. version as this seems only as a "quick to have" feature. Otherwise, thanks for this great SW, except Macros/Library I do like it so far :) Especially satisfied with the speed and responsivnes of the SW ;) Jindra
  22. Hello, Their seems to be a bug still in the batch export and export, that if embed metadata is ticked on jpeg or tiff that it will sometimes create a file that does not have the correct resolution properties embeded e.g with embed metadata ticked exporting/batch jpeg or tiff it will create a file that is 150dpi and double the size of the original regardless of what you do. you should be able to recreate this by loading a jpeg in, resize to A1 300dpi adobergb1998( i use this size alot ) move over to export persona, select jpeg best, make sure embed metadata is ticked (others settings were" pixel format :use doc format, resample:biliner, matte:none, icc:use doc profile, embed icc:ticked, quality:100%, progressive:UNticked"). affinity photo ver 1.5.1.54 if you require any more info I will do what I can. regards Chris
  23. I have started to play around with macros and wanted to create a macro that mimics and ND filter. I.e. add a new Fill Layer, and then add a Gradient fill. But I get an error message saying that the Macro Recorder cannot record this. Maybe I am missing something (I hope so!) Any ideas / help very welcome. Thanks!
  24. I hope someone can guide me as I'm finding conflicting information and seek clarity. My AP and AD takes ages to open. I have seen postings relating to that - and I have seen postings saying after downloading the beta's there are improvement's on speed of opening. That said I did it. THEN I see a posting saying there is no need to download the beta's unless you are looking for a specific fault. I downloaded the Macros and UI goodies and attempted to load them. I have 2 readme files one refers to AP the other to AD - When I try to load the files for AP and unzip them they have AD logo's. With AD and AP when I try to import the goodies it says they are not infinity files. ????????????? I unistalled the Beta on AP and AD. Tried to import. Probably O.K. Am getting a little miffed so have not tried to use them yet. I've now got the slow loading again. Should I download the Beta's again? What do I do? Lastly - now I've decided to post again, I would like to say both negative and positive comments. I am not a negative person. I have been a loyal customer to Serif for so many years I can't remember when I bought my first package. I have bought nearly everything they have produced and ALWAYS ALWAYS by the manuals. Also I'm not in the habit of telling social media what I'm doing at any given moment. Therefore WHY oh WHY have Serif in their wisdom not supplied a help line - albeit during certain hours to enable folk to ask question's and not feel awkward about posting comments because they don't have the wealth of knowledge the good folk on the forum have? Will will get a manual. and if so when please? I am very saddened and disillusioned with you Serif. I thought better of you. That said it is worth repeating that the software is indeed very good. Thank you in advance.
  25. When I run a batch job on some raw files using a macro I have created, the saved jpegs come out differently to when I run the same macro on files individually. Is there something I am missing? See attached photo: Left is individual output, and right is batch output. This only happens with raw files (olympus .orf) and not if run it on a jpeg. I can change the output of batch jobs to a degree by changing the develop assistant options, but I cannot get the result I wanted. I assume the problem is something to do with the develop persona, which I cannot record a macro for, but automatically runs when I open a raw file. Thanks for any help.
