  1. Here's a short and simple issue I found on starting Publisher V2: When I click Help->Quickstart Guide, it takes me to the Designer Quickstart (https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/learn/designer/desktop/quickstart/) Confused the heck out of me at first!
  2. Updates are free for existing customers and more information on how to update your Affinity V2 app(s) can be found here: https://affinity.serif.com/learn/how-do-i-install-affinity-updates/
  3. We are pleased to announce an update for the macOS release of Affinity Publisher, version 1.10.5 The detailed changes in Affinity Publisher for MacOS 1.10.5 over the release build Affinity Publisher for macOS 1.10.4 are as follows: Fixes & Improvements: Fixed registration failure (will now use the browser to complete registration, rather than attempt it in-app) Fixed possible rendering issues with Raster elements Optimisation when transforming Text Frames. Attempted to fix graphics corruption for some users of earlier macOS versions. Import document user details, metadata and text variables from IDML files. Improved IDML picture frame fitting. Help & localisation improvements. The major improvements in 1.10 since 1.9 are listed in some detail in this 1.10.0 Publisher macOS update announcement UPDATING TO THIS VERSION (Free for existing customers) The software version can be seen on the splash screen and the About dialog (in application menu, Affinity Publisher > About). If you’ve purchased from the Mac App Store— updates are done automatically next time you run your software after it is available in the Mac App Store. If this does not happen for you, open the Mac App Store app and go to the Updates page and then Store > Reload page or press CMD+R. This should hopefully force the update to show. Apple sometimes phase roll outs around the world which can mean it may take up to 72 hours for your update to be available. If you’ve purchased from the Affinity Store— each time you start the software it will check for updates and offer to download and install any available update, or in the application main menu there is an option Check for Updates. You can download the latest installer by logging into the affinity store here and find the order in your account and use the "download" button in there. Alternatively, this new release (and previous versions of Affinity Publisher for macOS) can be downloaded from this link (that installer is NOT for Mac App Store purchases and needs a product key).
  4. I contacted Silverfast asking if they would consider also making sure their plug-in SRDx works with Affinity Photo for Mac. Got the answer that SRDx requires OpenCL support, which Affinity Photo (according to them) does not provide to plug-ins. Reading some Photoshop forum threads it seems that Photoshop on MacOS supports Metal as well as OpenCL, which at least in part could be a factor to why some plugins does not work with Affinity. I would like to propose a feature request: Support OpenCL GPU acceleration on Mac and allow plug-ins to utilize this.
  5. Unfortunately we don't currently officially support Stage Manager on iPad or macOS with the Affinity apps, our apologies. Our team are aware of issues when using this feature (such as slow 'switching' between apps on macOS, occasional crashing when switching apps and lack of full screen external monitor support on iPad) and we're working to hopefully address these issues in a future update.
  6. I'm using the built-in macOS emoji font quite often in Affinity Photo. However, for some reason, a lot of the emojis with humans are not displayed correctly. For example, if I input the 👨‍⚕️, AP will instead give me 👨‍ ⚕. And if I try to input 🙋‍♀️, I get 🙋‍ ♀. See attached screenshot (the emoji input palette to the right and the result to the left). They seem to work fine in all other applications. Does anyone know if there is a workaround not involving other software? Running latest versions of Affinity Photo (1.10.4) and macOS Monterey (12.2.1).
  7. I suggest Affinity Photo to support exporting High Dynamic Range HEIF (HDR PQ 10-bit) from RAW/DNG/ProRAW file. It could really be a killer feature in photo editing across any OS platforms. It is especially beneficial to users who are using some recent MacBook Pros supporting HDR10/Dolby Vision (e.g. iPad Pro 2021 with XDR display). For web publishing compatibility, HDR-PQ AVIF could also be supported. Please kindly support.
  8. No. Serif already have macOS versions of our Affinity V2 apps which are designed specifically for desktop computers and our iPadOS versions are designed around touch interaction. Neither would make sense on the other platform.
  9. You may have been asked to provide a crash report when speaking with our support team. This will help them look into your issue further and hopefully allow our developers to figure out what caused the crash. Below are instructions explaining where the Crash Reports are stored on Windows, MacOS and iPadOS: Windows (2.1 onwards) Press the Windows Key + R to launch the Run dialog and enter the relevant app path: Affinity Store (MSIX) & Windows Store: Photo - %USERPROFILE%\.affinity\Photo\2.0\CrashReports\reports Designer - %USERPROFILE%\.affinity\Designer\2.0\CrashReports\reports Publisher - %USERPROFILE%\.affinity\Publisher\2.0\CrashReports\reports Affinity Store (EXE) : Photo - %appdata%\Affinity\Photo\2.0\CrashReports\reports Designer - %appdata%\Affinity\Designer\2.0\CrashReports\reports Publisher - %appdata%\Affinity\Publisher\2.0\CrashReports\reports Our crash reports will have a filename that's made up of random alphanumeric characters and will have a .dmp extension. Please send us this file. macOS Open the Console app from Applications > Utilities. In the left hand panel click Crash Reports - you will see a list of Crash Reports. Find the relevant crash report - it should display the app's name in the Process Name column. Right click and select Reveal in Finder. Please send us the .crash file. iPadOS Go to Settings > Privacy > Analytics > Analytics Data You will see an alphabetical list showing all crash reports on your iPad. Find and open the one that corresponds to the Affinity app that's crashing. Click Share to save to an .ips file and save it to a cloud service.
  10. Affinity V2 apps do not have a Separated Mode on macOS. If for some reason you need this specific functionality, please continue to use Affinity V1 apps.
  11. Dear Community I'm getting wrong results withe the same .APHOTO file using the Mac version (1.10.5 and all before) of Affinity Photo. When I use Blend Mode: "Darker Color" in Layer Effects it only works correct with the PC version. Settings (for the red square): Result on the PC (desired): Result on the Mac (buggy?): I also attached the source file. Can anyone reproduce the error or is it only on my machine (MacBook Pro running MacOs 12.3.1)? afphoto-shadow-darker-color-test_01.afphoto Additional fact: When I switch to Affinity Designer (1.105) the result is correct. I would really appreciate equal results for equal settings on both systems. Greetings, Henry
  12. Placed images. Text. Embedded documents. Low-memory conditions. New Selection options Parent, Top, & Bottom Improved IME text editing for Japanese and Simplified Chinese languages. Improved SVG import/export. Added support for most emoji. Resource Manager: New "Relink" option for missing resources. Added "File Type" column. EPS files can be linked. Assorted other small fixes. Help & localisation improvements. UPDATING TO THIS VERSION (Free for existing customers) The software version can be seen on the splash screen and the About dialog (in application menu, Affinity Designer > About). 13. Hi there, I had this issue a while ago and now it really stops me from working: As in the image attached I get this weird display error when working within Affinity. Sometimes it helps to zoom out, but when zooming in to a specific point, it happens again. Currently, also zooming out does not help. There seems to be something broken now. I noticed that it most often happens when I use maximum/minimum filter. However, even when flattened, the error persists. Does anyone have a similar problem? Mac OS Monterey 12.4 Affinity Photo 1.10.5 Moreover, Affinity Photo consumes enormeous amounts of disk space. Sometimes more than 30GB of storage are not enough... Regards
  14. Affinity Designer (desktop): 1.10.5 macOS: 12.4 When I open the Layer Effects panel and select Outline, it seems as if I'm missing options for manipulating the Outline effect. Referencing YT videos, I seem to be missing the X/Y Scale and Offset. I'm attempting to add an outline to text and then offset the outline like the example I've included. I need the text to remain editable though as I have to make multiple variants. I'm working on the assumption the X/Y Offset would let me do that?
  15. After the last release, any basic operation on Affinity Photo for mac causes the whole computer to freeze for 2 or 3 seconds. It happens when opening a file or when open or close the whole program. I'm using 1.10.5 on MacOs 12.4 (Monterey), with Intel Core i9, 32 Gb RAM. Same problem doesn't happen on Publisher and Designer. I also tried to give more RAM to Affinity, but didn't solve the problem. It's currently limited to 10Gb.
  16. Hello, i am not sure if this is a bug or a misunderstood feature, but; I made a symbol, Used the symbol inside an asset Using the same asset, i've made changes and created a new asset. Now when i drag this asset on the file, symbol duplicates by itself in the assets panel. Attached you may find a screecast. Is this a bug or am i missing something? Thx in advance. asset-symbol-duplication.mov
  17. Files saved from Photo (.afphoto) are not showing thumbnails in Finder, just the default icon. I have that option turned on in preferences. Any ideas how to workaround while Affinity fixes it?
  18. I have a 2012 iMac and the latest security update (Catalina 10.15.7) is playing havoc with Publisher. It is slow, freezes with and without showing a freeze in "Force quit". Changing tools sometimes temporarily restores working status. Place, and drag and drop into the document sometimes freeze. Sometimes saving cause a slowdown or freeze . . . any thoughts?
  19. We are pleased to announce an update for the MacOS release of Affinity Photo, version 1.10.5 The detailed changes in Affinity Photo for MacOS 1.10.5 over the release build Affinity Photo for macOS 1.10.4 are as follows: Fixes & Improvements: Updated the RAW import library Fixed possible registration failures (will now use the browser to complete registration, rather than attempt it in-app) Fixed the Overlay Paint Brush incorrectly starting at the edge of canvas. Live radial blur could show tiling errors on export. Background layer is blurred when re-opening afphoto file. Fixed Metal corruption on canvas when using FX. Partial fix to the Overlay Paint and Erase Tools (Develop Persona): painting "separated dots" (spacing issues) in small brush sizes. Attempted to fix graphics corruption for some users of earlier macOS versions. Fixed odd overlay brush behaviour on portrait RAW files. Help & localisation improvements. The major improvements in 1.10 since 1.9 are listed in some detail in this 1.10.0 Photo macOS update announcement UPDATING TO THIS VERSION (Free for existing customers) The software version can be seen on the splash screen and the About dialog (in application menu, Affinity Photo > About). Fix for exiting pixel preview mode when Guides are toggled on/off. Fix for expand stroke applied to objects with sharply varying pressure profiles near their start/end.. Fix for boolean ops acting differently on larger objects by accident. Fix for deleting the last curve handle (and hence deleting the object) causing selection to be lost. Additional PDF export fix (related to converting colour profiles in exported images). Fix for autosave/recover not working correctly when crashing while and editing existing documents. Fix for focus issues with the Colour Studio when tabbing between text fields with a selected object. Improved selection behaviour when nodes and layers are deleted. Improved boolean geometry results (not Divide). 21. Before I say anything in Serif Affinity is slow, I need to say that on my MacBook Pro M1, anything Affinity is lighting fast, especially 1.10.4, certainly lightning faster that anything Adobe. However the full screen toggle (fn-F) is really uncomfortably slow, and sorry for the comparison but in this one single area Photoshop is lightning fast, meaning quite usable in the sense that it doesn't cause lag distraction. I have written an AppleScript to toggle the window bounds to {1680, 1050} but the window will only resize to {1670, 1040} or something like that. This script is very fast, much faster than the toggle but a little bit of the desktop and the windows behind it peek through - not anything show stopping but not a super clean full screen UI.
  22. I commonly press command-hyphen and command-equal to zoom outward and inward. But when I have my cursor inside a text box on Affinity Designer, command-equal fails with a plink sound. If I check app prefs, I don’t see a conflicting keyboard shortcut. macOS Monterey 12.2.1 (21D62) Affinity Designer 1.10.4
  23. My wife and I both have Designer. I purchased mine through Affinity. She purchased through the Mac App Store. My version is up to date. Her version is 10.7 and does not update if I open from App Store. I sent her a file to work on that will not open because her version is older. What should we do? Also, when I log into the Affinity store, I can not find my purchase under download and keys. I do see it under registered apps but not under orders. Help
  24. Affinity Photo 1.10.4 running on OS X 12.1 on an M1 Mac. I've been checking the raw DNG development to 32-bit rgb pipeline in Affinity Photo, and I'm getting a slightly warmer image than when using other raw developers (OpenImageIO tool, DCRaw, Davinci Resolve) which all give me matching results if I develop to ACES AP0. As far as I know, I disabled all image processing on the Develop page to hopefully get a neutral export. It's also worth noting that under the hood all the apps except DCRaw are using LibRaw. Attached is a screengrab in Nuke showing a split screen of the Affinity output on the left and DNG to ACES from the other software on the right. Nuke ignores .icc profiles, but the way I believe AP works for its raw development to 32-bit RGB is it bakes the .icc output profile transform into the image rather than tagging the image with that profile - so it doesn't matter if Nuke can't read .icc profiles. Initially I thought there may be an issue with the pre-installed Apple ACEScg .icc profile selected as the output profile when developing to 32-bit RGB. But if I ignore ACES in AP and develop using an .icc profile with sRGB primaries, I get the same warm tone. I did also download an ACES AP0 .icc profile and I got the same results in Nuke. Just to be clear, that if the files exported with different .icc profiles are viewed in Nuke without taking into account the needed transformation of the primaries, then they look different as expected. When the primaries are accounted for with an ACES input transform for the primaries only, then they look the same (all warmer from AP). I'm not sure if there's an overall issue here where the .icc profiles are baking in a chromatically adapted white point that accounts for .icc profiles being based on D50, where my monitor is D65. Obviously, what I want is an absolute colorimetric transform that is not trying to account for my display in any way. It does seem less than ideal that display profiles are used to do the colour transform when OpenColorIO would be the obvious better choice, rather than only being for preview purposes. It's also possible this has nothing to do with a transform from .icc profiles and there's something else making the image slightly warmer.
