  1. Locked layers can still be manipulated in terms of fill and stroke colour and other stroke properties. I would expect everything to be locked when locking a layer, so I won't accidentally make changes to the object/ layer, which is the whole reason locking layers exists. Steps to reproduce 1. Create a bunch of objects 2. Group them (and promote the group to layers) 3. Lock both the layer and the object 4. Change the fill colour 5. Notice how appearance changes are permitted 2022-11-21 14-27-00.mp4 2022-11-21 14-33-33.mp4 E: You can also continue drawing/ adding objects to locked layers. So there's no real way to actually make sure a layer remains unchanged.
  2. I have found "Lock Children" useful but hard to reach. I haven't found it in any menus yet. So far the only access I've found is to click a very tiny icon at the extreme upper right of the Publisher window, drop down a small menu, and select Lock Children. This involves hitting tiny icons or UI elements with the mouse, which is not what I'd call the most user-friendly thing ever. Then, do the same if you need to toggle the setting off again. With this apparently not being anywhere in the keyboard shortcuts dialog, there's no way to assign a keystroke to the command that I know of. But is there some easier way to get to the command? Maybe I've just missed something obvious. If not—publisher developers: Could this check-box not be available at least in the Frame Properties dialog? Or be a menu item in its own right when you right-click a frame? Or be part of the Frame Properties fly-out menu when you right-click a frame?
  3. I'm long familiar with the master-page concept. Publisher's own ways of doing things, I don't know much about yet. I created a master page with two columns per page and added a text frame for each column. On the document pages, I see these text frames' sizes and positions are locked, which makes sense. The master pages also contain small text frames containing "Page #" (with "#" being a field). I want to remove the page-number information from one of the document pages. When the text frame is selected the status bar indicates that the item is locked and to edit it, I should unlock it. But if I right-click the object it has no Unlock command in its context menu. • What unlock command might the status bar hint be referring to? This appears to be the way to do it... Go to the document page in question. In the Layers palette, right-click the Master page associated with that document page. Select Edit Detached. Make the change to the page in question. Then press the orange Finish bar that appears near the top of the screen. • Is that the right way to do it? Or are there other approaches that are considered better?
  4. AF keeps freezing during any operation and flags up 'AF not responding' even when its the only program open, any advice ? i'm using the same PC i've always used AF on but its gradually becoming more frequent 4-5 times with 30mins use. When it was first installed, all was fine. No new programs installed on my pc only he usual windows upgrades !
  5. Is there any shortcut for locking layers in AD? In AI there is a handy ctrl-2 to lock layers. Is there an option?
  6. For precision work, I prefer to keep most layers locked after I am finished editing them so I don't accidentally nudge them, or I don't want them to be selectable all the time. I think it would really help workflows to be able to hover over a layer that's locked at have a lock icon show up, perhaps in the upper lefthand corner of that layer, and you could click it to unlock that layer. Normally, I have to navigate through all of the layers to find the one I want to unlock in the layers palette (since I can't select it), which can be a time sink in complex documents. It would be a dream for me to be able to just hover over a locked layer, click the unlock icon, edit, and lock again, all without having to dig through my layers palette. Cheers
  7. How do I lock source file from copy and paste? I see example file are... Thank you William...
