  1. I've had a hard time adjusting the brush to act in a natural way for drawing. I've compared with mainly photoshop and sketchbook pro and posted numerous reports about this. There are a few issues like jagged lines on low zoom levels and general inconsistent behaviour of hardness and size. Things you only notice when drawing or writing by hand on a tablet or Cintiq. Now I think I found what causes the latter! I was able to isolate what is going on by setting the shape to a narrow ellipse and the stroke to large spacing. Look what the preview shows. There are 2 things going on here: 1
  2. Is there a way to convert outlines to filled shapes? The reason behind it is that I'm creating icon glyphs and would like to use the compound shape to "disconnect" a few lines – whereas I can't do that with just an outline and probably would need to convert the line into a stroke.
  3. Hi! I am new to Affinity Designer and already have searched the internet to find an answer. The Info I found is that the measurement tool was planned years ago, but nothing to measurements in the newest release. Is there any way to measure the length of a (curved) line in the newest version? I am interested in an exact measurement in physical units (mm). Thanks!
  4. Did someone figure out that on iPad? On Mac/PC, it's possible when Cmd/Ctrl + left click with node tool in 1.9.
  5. The closest I can find in the Help guide is the Pen Tool in either "Pen" Mode or "Smart" Mode, but I'm not very skilled (if anti-skilled were a thing, I'd use that) at using the Pen Tool. Is there a "pre-fabricated" tool like what Illustrator or iDraw has for those of us falling into the "Artistically Deficient" category? ;)
  6. Would be nice if you cloud add modifier key to delete line(s) between selected nodes instead of deleting selected nodes when press the Delete key without using "Break Curve" and select separated curve before delete. Lot of users from Illustrator are confused with current workflow, so this could make easier for them to adapt to Affinity
  7. I was wondering if Affinity Designer could add a feature that makes the ends of lines rounded. I looked for a post on how to create rounded edges, but I wasn't able to find a post on how to round the edge of the line drawn below. Is there a way to make the edge of the line below rounded in Affinity Designer? If not, could it be added as a feature? Thank you for considering this!
  8. I am just starting to play around with the pencil, pen, and brush and noticed that the lines are smoothing. Do you plan on having a smoothing control for those tools? For drawing, this would be important not to have my lines straighten-out. Also, while going through the help menu I hit the back arrow in the upper left corner and it does not take me back to the page I entered from. Example, after selecting "About lines and shapes," I hit the back arrow and I don't return to were I can select "About lines and Shapes." I return to "Visual References." On the positive note, I love the ability to
  9. I have attached a photo where I replaced a bland sky with one more dramatic. I followed Affinity's Sky replacement tutorial. The problem is when in enlarged, there is a white line between the foreground and sky. A second issue is when I zoom in and refine some of the rocks and bushes will not take the refinement. How do I avoid this? What am I doing wrong? Thanks,
  10. Hi, I'm doing sketches on garments and trying to sort out how to easily select and copy a part of a outline. Let's say I want to copy the neckline shape on the garment in the picture below, to add a top stitch around the neck hole but I don't want to re-draw it, I just want a copy of the neckline shape to make a dashed line to illustrate a stitching. ( I have no problem with dash lines, only copying). In illustrator I could easily select single lines on a object and drag a copy of selected lines, but on Affinity I don't know how to do this and it slows down the work a lot.
  11. I tried to make a scratch with the pencil tool but the results of the line streak always change after it's done. this happens when you zoom out but when you zoom in the results of the lines will look natural and only slightly change. for example when the canvas is zoomed 100% the lines will change to become more curved, other than when zooming less than 100% for example 20%, the line results will change greatly compared to 100%. And of course when zooming like 150% for example the results the line will change slightly Affinity_Designer_2020-07-28_20-03-30.mp4 Affinity_Designer_2020-07-28
  12. Hello everyone. I think how i can make something like this in AF Designer? Anyone have idea?
  13. Hi I would find it really helpful to be able to draw lines and circles that are tangent to either 1 or 2 existing circles. I have a link here that shows what I am talking about - it is a program called AutoCAD https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=autocad+snap+to+tangent&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b&gfe_rd=cr&dcr=0&ei=UpkJWsC7CebG8Aft1I-oAg#gfe_rd=cr&kpvalbx=1 Thanks Rob
  14. Hey! im trying to figure out how to make this kind of graphic without pulling my hair out and going nuts. I’ve tried with illustrator but can’t make it perfect. Anyone have any quick help to offer? The “E” image is the most relevant in this case, but I will have to try and make illustrations such as the colorful image. kind regards, gmann
  15. Would be nice if you could add this. I know I can achieve it by closing open curve, but Illustrator does it and it's useful.
  16. I know there is an archived theme. Confirming that this problem persists in the newest version 1.8.3. Moreover we can observe these damn lines in Xnview picture viewer also, when viewing images, that were edited in Affinity Photo. So this is a real bug or not? I don't get it.
  17. Hi, This has been a bug for a good while in Affinity Photo, I was hoping it might be fixed by now, but it's still hanging around. On two different Windows 10 PC, each with different Nvidia graphics card, when you zoom into an image you see what appears to be a transparent edge around the top/side or both. This quite often makes you think that there is in fact a pixel line that hasn't been cropped, when in fact as you zoom in further, you'll see that there isn't anything wrong - the artifact disappears. It's more noticeable on darker images with a dark UI. Thanks, Jay.
  18. Hello! First and foremost, I'm new to the forums so apologies if this has already been suggested, I didn't quite see it at a first glance. I'm also not currently aware of this being a feature, but if it is, fantastic! I would like to suggest the ability to set the stroke width of an object to a variable, rather than inputting the actual width. This would make it a lot easier to adjust the line width on MANY objects if you're working on a project where you may not know what to set the line width at, or if you unknowingly used a line width too small. The variables could even hold other type
  19. Hey guys I just recently made the switch from Adobe ecosystem to Affinity Designer & Photo because i'm not trying to shell out $600 a year for the rest of my life. I'm getting myself adjusted with Designer right now, but i hit a snag. I can't seem to Add/Remove nodes to existing paths like you could in Illustrator. I've tried searching in Help, but nothing comes up. Is this feature not currently available in Designer? If that's the case, then when can we expect this option in a future update? I only ask because it's something I use often. Thanks in advance for your help and time.
  20. Hey, developers. There is a suggestion to improve one function in the program. I think that many others who draw on iPad and use the symmetry function lack accurate positioning on canvas. The symmetry guides have no anchorage and there is no way to change the angle accurately or go back to the previous position. Please add either the snap or the possibility to position the symmetry guides by numerical values. Thank you very much.
  21. Ok, I get it, each line or curve drawn gets it's own layer. Sometimes this is more of a pain when I am trying to edit. I know you can group the layers, however it still isn't convenient when going from one curve to another. Is there any way at all to put these lines or curves on one layer to make it easier to edit them, like other apps do? I am working in vector here.Forgive me if this question is in FAQs, but I do not have time to go through them all.
  22. Summary Many tools provide a preview mode, which shows the effect of using the tool prior to execution. This preview mode is very useful, since it allows the user to see the result of applying e.g. the erase tool, or a brush, etc. Unfortunately, it does not work consistently: it ceases to work if the user tries to draw a line that connects the previous application of the tool to its current position using the shift key. The situation is further exacerbated by the fact that the position of the previous application of the tool (the origin point of the line) is lost when a line is created a
  23. Greetings I came from Autocad technical draws and think may be useful to find tools like straight line, arc and other basic geometrical forms. I know you can do straight line with pen tools, but arcs from two points, from three points, switching from start, center, end or center, start, end can be easily made. Other nice feature can be import dxf it dwg technical draws. Thank you
  24. Hello guys, I'm currently testing out the Affinity suite and I have to say, I'm fairly impressed so far. I'm really considering making the jump and say goodbye to Adobe. However, there are still some functionalities I use daily that are still missing. From what I've seen, the selection feature to include "Select > same > ..." is something people really want too. I really hope this will arrive soon. Anyway, I wanted to ask you guy if you knew how I coud do to put an ellipse at the center of a line ? I have multiple separate lines and need to put a small circle in the m
  25. There have been similar posts earlier, but as it seems like nothing much has happened, perhaps the topic needs a push? Anyway, it seems to be two general kind of illustrators when regard to having strokes and lines scaling with objects; the first kind is the methodical one, who prefers to build up the drawing first and adding brushes afterwards, which I guess is a natural technique developed from the early days of vector based illustration. Then you have illustrators like me, who are newer to the game and who finally learn vector through programmes like Affinity Designer on an iPad, usi
