Hello I am running Version 1.9.1 of Affinity Photo on Windows Desktop I wanted to lighten up the color of the face a bit but ended up basically cloning the light and a blue flag over the sections where I was painting with the clone tool - in the tutorials the Lighten-Clone Tool only picked the brightness level of the source target and applied that to where they painted - so I would not expect it to pick the color and apply it, too, I hope I am not mistaken here? I was following along basic tutorials as I am transitioning to this Editor currently, so I believe I followed the instructions closely: - select clone brush tool - select Lighten (as shown in the picture) - select Source as Current and below I only also reduced the opacity of the tool, which is why you can see the face under the applied color. Basically the Lighten selection doesn't do anything and just clones the target onto the face... For comparison, I upped the opacity to 100% and left all other settings as before in the second picture. Did I forget any other selection?

Hi all, I was trying to find some way to colorize parts of a text without changing its properties (I need that frequently for UI design). I found out that using another object with the Lighten blend mode seems to do what I want, but text is rendered quite poorly. Thyer is a rectangle with a Lighten blend over the text as a mask, but AD creates lots of intermediate colors which I don't want. The rightmost result is what I want. I've included the .afdesign file too. Is this the expected behavior? If yes, is there another way to accomplish this other than changing the text color itself? Lighten mask bug.afdesign

Hello, I'm working with Windows beta 1.5.0.39 which seems to me to be a fantastic product-in-the-making -- thanks and well done, Affinity team. I notice that I can use the Dodge brush successfully to lighten areas on the base ("Background (Pixel)") layer.... but after I've added a few more layers onto that, e.g. to adjust perspective or crop or brightness/contrast, using the dodge brush on those layers has no effect. The brush circle is still visible on the screen and its size and properties can be varied as normal.... it's just that applying it on these overlaid layers does nothing. Am I just being thick? I'm rather new and inexperienced in photo editing, so apologies if I'm trying to do something that won't work for reasons which to more experienced people are obvious and valid.

Hello, I need some help regarding blend modes. So, I applied gold foil to an invitation design using "lighten" because that produced the most desirable results. However, it applies the effect to all the layers underneath. Is there a way to restrict where the blend mode is applied? I tried using a different method like "paste inside" and it did not produce desirable results. I only want the outlines gold, not the inside of the shapes/texts. I attached an example of what I'm working on. You can see that I've applied the gold to the outlines using the Lighten mode. Is there a better way? I am a newbie to graphic design and really need help. Any suggestions or tutorials would be appreciated! Thanks!
