  1. Hey ho! My handsome cat shown in a new light - what do you think? Photo taken with my good old Nikon D90. Enjoy it 😃 Chris
  2. Instead of adding a new light inside the Lighting filter I added a new lighting filter on top of the other hoping to get more independent lighting from the first but it doesn't seem to work this way. It "cancels out" the other. Is there a way to do this?
  3. Best way to add light to cloths ? I am thinking draw in the light is probably better more accurate method. Aims to add light to the cloths add in creases and folds of the Parker jacket. Rob
  4. I am NEW to photo editing and have a basic grasp of Affinity Photo. The image I am working with is both a raw and a jpeg. What I want to do is either eliminate or soften the glow around the 2 sconce lights on the wall. BTW the belly is going also. What is the best way to achieve my goal on the lighting issue? To cut the file size I uploaded the .jpg
  5. Free Neon Elements you can use them conveniently thanks to the assets panel .afassets file included. 6. I am new to Affinity Designer, and looking to thin out a fixed width text (I need a thinner version of the text on a different layer for printing purposes). This is possible in Adobe Illustrator through the use of a negative "offset path", but I cannot figure out how to do it in Affinity, which does not appear to have an offset path feature. The latest post I can find re:Offset Paths in Affinity Designer: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/30221-offset-path/ Here is how people do this in Illustrator: https://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/22315/how-to-make-a-font-thinner http://www.alison.co.uk/2011/11/22/how-to-make-a-fixed-font-thinner-in-illustrator/ Does anyone have a technique for achieving the same goal in Affinity Designer?
  7. Hey again, it's been ages since I actually shared some of my work in this forum. Over the course of getting imagery for the tutorials, I've also produced some final pieces that I'm happy with. Recently I've been tackling tutorials for astrophotography/star image editing as well as light painting, so there have been a few late nights! My favourite so far is a light painting composite near my home: Rail Tracks by James Ritson, on Flickr Then a light painting of Rufford Abbey (although I think I narrowly avoided a run-in with security): Rufford Abbey by James Ritson, on Flickr Followed by another light painting composite underneath an old railway bridge. This one's a little scrappy and I'm not sure how I feel about it at the moment: Under The Bridge 01 by James Ritson, on Flickr Moving on, a combination of star photography and light painting at Rufford Lake: Rufford Lake 01 by James Ritson, on Flickr And then a shot of the night sky, which was achieved by stacking 50 images (shot at ISO 6400, 1s long each) and pushing the tones quite severely to produce a vibrant result: Still Sky 01 by James Ritson, on Flickr That's about it for now - some of the above imagery is used in the recent tutorials and I plan to hopefully produce some more videos in the future covering these areas of photography. There are a few more images on my 500px and Flickr accounts as well if you're interested! Thanks, James
  8. Hi everyone, I wanted to know when version 1.6 comes with the new white interface for windows thanks
  9. Hello everyone! When trying to light a scene, I see some limitations to the "Lighting Tool": There are steps between the different shadings creating an outline for seemingly each used color value. Is this an intended optimization? Is it just the way this tool is limited? Or is this a bug of some sort? I first thought it was a limitation of 8 bit documents, but even after using 16 or 32 bit, this doesn't improve. Best wishes, Shu
  10. Hi! I was excited to lay my hands on Affinity photo. I enjoyed the other program, so I gave it a try. I was interested especially lighting effects and other stuff. To my dissapointment, it isn't too stable yet. Hard to find out how to move lighting source after I gave more than one to the picture. The lighting sometimes moves around without any reason. But always I tried, after I delete one lightsource and wish to use one only, the program crashes under Windows 10. Every single time. So is it the win or something else...?
  11. Hi everyone. Absolutely loving Affinity Photo (recently moved from PS). I am currently trying to create artificial light on a portrait, I am not a fan of the lighting filter, so I am trying to use a paint brush to create the effect, I usually get the general idea and then toy around with the colour, however, it will not allow me to change the colour once I have added the effect.. Any ideas? Thanks!
