Hello, the Panel/Toolbar that is usually on the right side of the screen is no longere there. I don't know if it disappeared or I accidentally closed it but it was very useful when trying to change levels, modify individual layers, etc. Could you please let me know how I can get this area back? Attached a screenshot of the area where this panel/toolbart is.

Hi, I'm rather new to Affinity Photoshop- I'm not amazingly experienced in Adobe Photoshop, but I'm way more familiar with that.... I recently began shooting color negative film and dislike the color correction in my scanners software and the Vuescan software and wanted to learn how to do it myself in photoshop. I found a tutorial online, however, I cannot figure out how to do the "Levels Clipping Mask," ...here is the tutorial: https://petapixel.com/2017/02/01/edit-color-film-negatives-photoshop/ Basically, I know from the Affinity help page that I can press the "alt" key when I'm adjusting the Black and White levels when I'm in specific colors such as red or blue, but it just turns my image either all black or all white, and I'm not sure how to make it actually work like it's supposed to? It seems to do the job when I do it on the Master for the RGB levels, but not any specific color? Am I doing something wrong? I hope this makes sense! Thanks! -Jenny

Hey, I saw this has been an issue on MacOS until the latest version (still to be validated, I guess...), but it also appears on the Windows version: If you open a "Levels" Adjustment Layer, the Histogram shows up with a delay. This can range from 1 second to almost 30 seconds.

After making adjustments using levels or curves strange artifacts appear as lines on random parts of the image. I have tried this on various different images and the same problem occurs. The problem occurs after merging adjustments. Below I show a sample of what is happening. I have circled the artifacts in red. This is incredibly annoying and makes the software virtually unusable. I am using windows 10 and latest version of Affinity.

Hi guys, Thank you for this amazing software! I'm a new user, and I'm enjoying it a lot! I would like to ask you though to please allow fractions of percent in the Levels. Adjusting the levels in 1/100 steps is just not precise enough to make a series of images match color-wise. Today I spent the whole morning trying to make five images look consistent, nudging 1 percent back and forth in Levels, but eventually gave up and exported them with quite some difference in colors.

Affinity Photo latest RC Sometimes the histogram in the "Levels" adjustments is not displayed. As you can see in the attached screenshot the thumbnail of the layer below is already available (sometimes takes bloody ages to build - and I realised alreay that the layer thumbnail needs to exist before the levels histogram can be displayed) but still the histogram is not displayed. The screenshot was taken 1 minute after the levels dialog was opened. Edit: BTW: 10 Minutes later the histogram appeared! Cheers, Timo

In other photo editing software, in the Levels window there's three pickers with which I can set black point, gray point and white point in a picture. Does Affinity Photo have something similar? The sliders are good, but often I need to be sure that in a certain point of the picture there's the absolute black level reached. Or white sometimes. Thank you.

Hi, New-ish to Affinity Photo so this might be an expected feature, but I've not been able to locate any information on it on the forums or manual ( or maybe I've searched for the wrong thing. ) Issue/situation: Sometimes when I add a level adjustment, the Histogram does not update when changing values. This issue does not seem to be consistent but not sure what would provoke it. Screen recording: See screen recording of the issue. Operating system: OSX Catalina 10.15.2 Affinity Photo: Version 1.7.3 Unusual hardware: Wacom tablet Intuos pro Any help or input on this matter is much appreciated, as I'm considering moving from other editors to Affinity Photo. Thank you in advance. PS: if this post is in the wrong forum, then please let me know, and I will submit it in another. Sofa-Gas-Rue-affinity-photo-levels-histogram-not-updating.mov

Please excuse if this feature has been discussed, as search did not reveal topic. May I suggest when you select the Crop tool, and drag the tool to determine desired size, the Histogram updates to reflect the black, shadows and white level. I do realize that you can do level and other adjustments post crop; however, I think this could provide users a 2 for 1 tool.

MacBook Pro 15" 2018 model with Touch Bar, macOS 10.13.6, AFP 1.7.2 I was working either with a Levels or Curve adjustment layer attending to out-of-gamut areas of a soft proof when AFP crashed. I wasn't doing anything I haven't done many, many times before. Several other .afphoto files were open in the same session. Here is the crash log: Affinity Photo_2019-08-22-231523_RRL-MacBookPro15.crash .

Hi all, I noticed that the Gamma over levels adjustment layer has a max limit of 2, while working on 32 bit you need a gamma of 2.2 when importing assets that are not in linear mode. Cheers, Juan

When using the new Levels, it seems to map to Curves with the old Black Level and White Level moving the left and right nodes horizontally, and the new Output Black Level and Output White Level moving the Curves nodes vertically. All well and good. But it gets a bit odd when using them together. Move Black Level and Output Black Level up the same amount and you seem to return to the original image, rather than having the black point shifted and it being a big whiter overall. I've tested this on PS (CS6) and it seems to work 'correctly' there. Here's a video showing what I mean.

This one is probably more for the photo team, but since I've found this in Publisher and haven't had a chance to test the new Photo beta yet I'm posting this here in case it's Publisher specific. Option+dragging a slider in the Levels dialog in the RGB setting always shows a completely black image for me when dragging the black point and a white image for the white point instead of accurately showing the usual clipping preview image with a threshold effect. In LAB mode, Option+dragging the Luminosity slider shows a black image with some of the chrominance information on top. Dragging the slider does not change the clipping preview image at all. Double-clicking a slider to reset it also doesn't work, but I'm not sure if that feature was ever there in the past. Moreover, there seems to be no way to use precise 8-bit/16-bit or floating point values in the numeric input fields, only a percentage. This might be required when images need to comply to a precise standard such as broadcast limits, old-school screen printing processes that don't work with ICC profiles, or when performing operations that need to be reversed exactly by a layer on top (say, when trying to preserve detail when using a third-party 3D LUT that has an excessive linear contrast operation built in) and so on.

I am quite a new user still finding his way around Affinity Photo. I have just hit an odd problem. The dialogs for levels or white balance adjustment will not appear. Normally I can click on the icon in the layer and the dialog will appear so that I can adjust it. Today, nothing happens when I do that. Also if I add a new Levels Adjustment layer (with the menus of Ctrl+L), a layer appears in the list of layers but the dialog to set the levels does not. Similarly for the white balance adjustment layer. I have tried resetting the studio, restarting, even rebooting, but none of these have helped. I am using Windows 10.

Hi, could it be possible to add some button for Leves adjustments eg. "Auto" or "Max" or "Auto-Max" which would move Black and White Level (separately) to the max till there is Zero value on the histogram. It is hard to check from the histogram the Zero values not to loose information. Sometimes it would be very useful ;) Thanks Jindra
