  1. It would be awesome if we could: - Make polar, circular grids. - Create grids that can be imported and resized for reuse in projects such as a golden rectangle grid. - Allow grids and guides to be set in their own layers so that multiple grids and guides can be stacked on top of one another so that modular grids can be created. - Change the color of grids and guide lines. - Set where grid gutters should fall, left, right, or both sides of columns, above, below or both sides of rows. - Create grids out of shapes, rectangle shape can be created and turned into a grid (with the same functionality as global grids) allowing us to be truly creative with the grids we create. - Typographic grids would be awesome as well, baseline for setting type on.
  2. I have attached a photo I am working on. The moon layer leaves a black line around its layer. Why and how can I remove it? thanks, Big John Wingman
  3. Hi all, new user. How do I snap a slice to layer bounds? Can't figure it out from snapping settings. TIA, Jack
  4. let's say I have three objects; object A, object B and object C. I want object A above object B, object B above object C and object C above object A in the layer. Is it possible to have circular layer instead of linear layer?
  5. Hi everyone, I locked an object in AD and for some reason it doesn't allow me to select it or even use unlock so i move it around. Is there something I'm missing here? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
  6. Hi, How do I change the colour of contents created by the brush on a pixel layer? I want to change to selected item. Please see attachment. Thanks a lot in advance! Soren
  7. Hi @ all, As the most users here, i am highly contamined by PS, using it since V4.0 and this app being part of my morning prayer ("may PS not crash, amen")... But, first of all: Chapeau for your Affinity Photo, its the first app making me hanging in front of my screen just trying and playing around in things of image editing, which is not less than my dayly and nightly job. Things like the live filters or the mouse-over preview for the different layering methods caused me thinking about "imaging on the next level"... My concrete question is: How can I use a single or combined curve layer as a vector mask for a pixel layer or a group? maybe I´m not the first one to ask this, but the first glance to the forums search did not help me... best regards, Detlev
  8. One thing that gets to me is the layer/child layer being added every time I do something (draw in vector or pixel). Is there a way to turn this off and give me the ability to add the layer or child layer when I want it. Not when the program wants it.
  9. As nice as things like live preview of layer blend modes are (and they are!) I can't help feeling a bit short changed by the layer transparency slider....? Anyone else feel like this? I'd really like a live preview of the layer's transparency as I drag the slider, but I have to let go and test it each time. I would say something like 'oh, I understand, it must be difficult to do...etc', but actually, can it really be that hard to make the transparency live? Or at least catch up, if you hold at a point, could it at least catch up to that point when it can manage it? While we're here, I find hue changes similarly frustrating - they do catch up, but I do think it feels a bit slow....anyone else?] Cheers Wayne
  10. hi it wud be nice if we can get a browser in afinity photo so that its easy to see a file folder of images. otherwise need to switch between different programmes. when selecting a PSD file with layers the affinity photo software cannot create a thumb nail. the thumb nail only comes if the psd file is flattened. nice to have this fixed. add feather tool a pdf instruction manual so one can print it out and follow the guide. regards ashok
  11. I am slowly making my transition from PS to AD and What I find a little bit annoying is the fact that when you select a layer on your page, the layer panel doesn't bring the layer to the top of the list. Would it be possible to scroll to the layer automatically when you select it on your artboard ? Thanks
  12. I'm a Fireworks crossover, finally had to give up on Fireworks (well, more like give up on Adobe) even though I love it. One shortcut that was worth its weight in gold was the ability to hide individual layers with a quick shortcut (Command+L in Fireworks). Would it be possible to add this option in the Layers menu dropdown? Then we could create our own shortcut for it. It would make it a LOT easier than selecting the layer, finding the selected layer in the Layers panel, then clicking the checkbox to hide it. Especially if you have, say, 200 layers in the list. As it is, you have to select it, then scroll up and down your layers list to find the highlighted layer, then click the checkbox. That gets tedious. So something like: Layer > Hide Thanks for your consideration!
  13. Please forgive me if this has been asked, I have searched and cannot find a solution. I'm a Fireworks crossover, finally had to give up on Fireworks (well, more like give up on Adobe) even though I love it. One shortcut that was worth its weight in gold was the ability to hide a layer (Command+L). Is this possible in AD? Right now all I can figure out is finding the layer on the layers panel and clicking (or deselecting) the checkbox to hide it. Or do we call them objects here? Thanks in advance. If this has been covered in another thread, please send the link and then we can close/delete this thread.
  14. In Photoshop I use the dodge- and burn-tools to fine-tune layer-masks – especially by hair. That technique can unfortunately not be implemented with Affinity Photo. What are the chances that it works in the future?
  15. Good evening Affinity, Another little color problem tonight;-) When there is a mask "Levels" (or any other settings mask?), And that one uses the pipette ("alt" key with the "Paintbrush" tool), the result color is incorrect. This is toujour darker ... This is not normal I think ... In Photoshop, it does not work well anyway. When "pipette" a color, the result is ALWAYS the same color as the one selected. In advance thank you for your help. Good night Lionel
  16. I enclose a file. 1) I have two green spot 2) Both spots are in a layer group (this group is 50% oppacité) 3) When merges the two slaps inside the folder, visually, the color green decreases. WHY ??? I think this is not a bug? Color_Change.afphoto
  17. Hi, I cannot seem to edit my text layers. When I select them (on the right panel) and double-click on the text (on the main design), it jumps the focus to the background layer (all the way to the button). Im I doing something wrong?
  18. After working on several layers, I had to move a layer up or down and AFP would not let me. If I restart the app it will. MBP retina late 2013 2.6/16/512
  19. Hey guys, is there any possibility to create a mask for embedded object or vector layer? Every time I try to paint into that mask it creates a new pixel layer. I don't wanna rasterize that layer. Thank you for your time!
  20. Hello, As of the latest beta (Oct 9th) I've noticed there is still a glaring usability issue when it comes to visual layer cues, particularly if a user has not visited a file in a lengthy period of time one would have to expand most grouped layers to remember what was locked or have hidden visibility. Usually when moving or doing some other edit with grouped objects or other selections, I thought this request could help… How about some sort of faint or ghosted icon that appears to indicate that sublayers exist with hidden visibility or locks that are active when the layer is collapsed? Thank you!
  21. Hello, In doing astrophotography, these two features are really essential. I really love using AP for editing, but it becomes nearly impossible to with astrophotography because it's missing these two features. Especially because AP has features like LAB, it could be a really great tool potentially - and I don't think (at least the median mode) is very difficult to implement. They're useful for stacking photos - when taking pictures of the night sky without a tracker, you're limited in the exposure length you can use, because the Earth is rotating. To get a useful picture, you really need an exposure with at least ISO 3200, making very noisy images. The solution is to take multiple pictures and align them in post, and then use a median filter to remove the noise (which is incredibly effective). It's useful for other things as well - basically any noise reduction. There are perfectly clear stacks of images taken at ISO 25,600 or higher - and the median filter can get rid of people walking in front of a landscape, for example. My point is, these are really useful features for everyone and could add a lot to the abilities of AP and make it a very appealing software for another group of photographers.
  22. https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/12582-50-grey/?p=54788 Maybe the shortcut options could include and option for creating a shortcut for a 50% grey layer
  23. Hi, I talked about it during beta. I would like affinity photo to have a image / "apply image" similar to photoshop. Being able to apply a channel to a layer while changing it's blending mode. I use this to : color correct getting much better color (natural look), its different than vibrance. much better. better black and white My whole portfolio have extensive use of this feature : No other feature can create such colors : http://anstellos.deviantart.com/gallery/ ps: I try hard to get the similar result in affinity. It yet cannot do it. I find myself to go back to photoshop for this feature only. That's a shame, your soft almost tick all the boxes but this is a big one.
  24. How do I copy something on one layer (say the background) to a new pixel layer and them move that selection around on that layer only? Say copy one earring onto the vacant ear.... Thanks.
  25. Hi all. I noticed that in one of my Designer documents, one of the objects ( a simple filled rectangle) didn't reside on any layer. There's one layer (which contains three imported images), and then at the same level there's the rectangle. This brings up a question: Why are objects allowed to exist on no layer? What is the point? And why did a layer get created in the first place then? Another question: I moved the rectangle onto the sole layer. That worked, but now it was on top of all the other objects and blotting them out. So I dragged the rectangle down in the layer's hierarchy of objects, but it refused to remain a peer of the other objects. It instead could only be placed within (indented under) one of the other objects. Any attempt to drag the item to the bottom resulted in this incorrect result, or the rectangle once again falling out of the layer entirely and existing in a void. I attached a screen grab of this perplexing interaction. Anyone have any insights on it? Thanks! layerProblem.mov
