  1. I'm still new to Affinity products, I'm familiar with soft light from adobe apps, however reflect is something new to me. So far they seem to do the same thing, and I cannot find a comparison after googling for about 30min. Would any one be able to explain to me the difference between the two? If it helps, I'm using the iPad app and what I'm working on is using black objects and strokes on a layer above my base color to make a shadow that will span over several colors for ease of editing and time. Both are looking well, but I can't see a difference. At the moment, I guess I could just pick one, but for future use it would be good to know when and why to use one over the other. Thank you in advance for any assistance!
  2. Hi everyone, I just wanted to let people know that I've put up a blog article explaining what layer blend modes are, how they are grouped together and what they do. I also give an visual example of the different blend modes so you can see the effect they have on your images. Here's the link - https://theeagerlearner.com/your-big-friendly-guide-to-layer-blend-modes/ Hope it's of help to you, Simon
  3. I'm recording a series of tutorials that I'm aiming to put online at www.udemy.com and part of the course will be about layer blend modes. I'm fine with the layer blend modes that appear in Photoshop but I'm having trouble finding hard information about the ones that are special to Affinity Photo, namely the Average, Negation, Reflect, Glow, Contrast Negative, Erase modes that appear at the bottom of the list. I can take a guess as to what they do, and I have the idea that some of them may be intended to work more with brushes and/or adjustment layers than as straight pixel layers. But to do them justice I'd really like to hear about what they actually do and what they could be used for from someone who knows.
