  1. Serif have announced that because of this wretched virus, they are generously making their software more available. I think it would be an idea for me to follow their example. If we can't get out and enjoy our countryside we can at least develop the photos we have taken of it. For the next 3 days until 24 March, 3:36am PDT the following course is free. Click on the link below and enter FREELANDSCAPES in the coupon field to get $59.99 off the price. That is to say, It's free. $0.00. Affinity Photo: Developing Landscapes Hopefully this will give you something to do if you are stuck indoors. Thanks for your time. Stay safe and stay healthy, Simon
  2. Hey I am using affinity designer and cant seem to get A3 landscape options ... any clues!!
  3. Created in Affinity Photo Panorama and caption. Do you know the mountains? http://panorama.welling.ch/Z/rigi/rigi.html
  4. Why is the default for a new publication landscape please? I have noticed that one needs to check a checkbox to get a portrait publication. Yet for text, portrait seems a more likely default. I am not suggesting changing it, I just wonder why that is the case as it seems counterintuitive. William
  5. Hello, I have tryed brushes, blanding modes an effects on paper surfaces. I think it is interesting to work free in Affinity. This one it is done in AffinityPhoto.
  6. Hey folks, finished another edit of a photo from my trip through Vietnam. Still not sure what to think about the "water" and its shore... What's your opinion about it - does it look too unnatural? I was trying keep no straight shore line... Original Edited in Affinity Photo Cheers, Marc
  7. Storm King Mountain (left of center), from the southeast. iPhone 6 AF Photo enhanced
  8. Hey community, I am in my first week getting started with Affinity Photo and could need some advice from some Affinity Photo ninjas Here are my 3 workflow steps where I need help in the 3rd step/photo. 1. Out of camera: 2. "Basic" adjustments in Lightroom 3. Adding more adjustment layers, live filters, brushing in some stars and fog In the 3rd step I want to add more glow to those contrasting edges of the mountains - comparable with the edges in step two. In Lightroom I brushed in some negative clarity but I don't know how to do it in Affinity Photo, because in the current release there is no negative clarity (or I haven't found it yet ) - unluckily the diffuse glow filter doesn't give me the wanted result (maybe I am tweaking it wrong). Hope you can assist me so I can finish the photo and post the result here Thanks in advance, Marc
  9. Here is a pano from atop the Rocky Mountains in Colorado at about 14,000 feet above sea level. It consists of 10 raw images all stitched together in AP and then edited. It is probably greater than 180 degree view so there is a bit of image warp that I didn't do much with. But it does give you a really beautiful view of the Rocky Mountains and what you would see as you look around.
  10. Here is a landscape panorama photo of Yellowstone National Park. This was made from 7 RAW images (hand held) all stitched together in Affinity Photo. I must say that AP did a fantastic job of stitching these together! I then made a number of adjustments in the Affinity Developer. I need to get my monitor color calibrated because I can't really tell when I develop them, if they actually look good. Nonetheless, below is the panorama.
  11. Had Affinity (trail) for only a few days after getting disillusioned with another program although my old Lr5 is my first go to program for basic edits Although I have a better than average -- whatever average is (??) -- understanding of digital editing; it's always a head full to use a new beast that does mostly the same thing as others but in different ways and with different tool names . Still a lot to take in, find, and work out. This is one the first mostly Affinity edited images I have done . I always find it hard to explain what was done and how it was done apart from saying I use very few preset/actions in my editing . I also believe we should post a before and after edit file and that does give idea to what was done . 2nd is the Oly Em1 raw file How and why questions welcome
  12. Wasting more time on nothing important just to get used to the Affinity way for selections/refine/masking/lots of little adjustment layers with masks Suggestive comments and how and why questions welcome

Hello, I am a photographer and I use my photos to create imaginary landscapes with Affinitiy Photo. I love this program and I actually dropped Photoshop to use Affinity Photo for retouching my portrait photos. But here, I propose this first imaginary digital composition with Affinity Photo. (Google translation, sorry.)
  14. Photographs and images from around Northern Ireland at our website https://www.niphotos.com enjoy !!
  15. Hi, I have opened a previous document to edit and wish to change from portrait to landscape but can't deselect the portrait option when I reopen document setup. Any ideas on what the problem could be? Thanks
  16. Hello to everybody in the forum, I'm getting started with landscape illustration. Today I share with you my illustration of Gdynia, the city where I live in Poland. The illustration was done with Affinity Designer. I would invite everyone to comment thoughts and feedbacks, or to share own works. This is my first landscape and maybe your works will teach or inspirate... Cheers Francky The project on Behance
  17. Hi everyone. After being part of a conversation with one of the forum members where they expressed a wish to have a start to finish set of tutorials about developing landscapes I thought I'd do something about it. So here it is: https://www.udemy.com/affinity-photo-developing-landscapes/ I've tried to make it different from the other courses I've done. Instead of presenting a range of tools and techniques, I've made the workflow a priority. You get to develop a series of (downloadable) landscape photos and follow a series of steps to get to the finished photo. There are variations with each photo, but the process is similar each time. I've done this for two reasons. The first is that, given this is a workflow based course, it seems only sensible to practice that workflow repeatedly to make sure people get comfortable with it. The other is that I've chosen different kinds of landscape photos to demonstrate the flexibility of the method. I hope it's of some use to you and thanks for your time, Simon
  18. First-time poster, completely new to photo editing, totally new to AP, pretty new to photography. I really only processed this scene to see if I liked Affinity Photo and whether or not I could get my head around it. The video tutorials are excellent and laid out in a very logical manner. I must commend you guys on the work that has gone into them. I didn't use 'Develop Persona' for this as I hadn't done those tutorials then....I have since discovered how powerful 'develop' and overlays are though...amazing. The original photos (3 of them were bracketed +/- .6 ev) and were taken on a Nikon d90 with a 18-105mm lens. I used HDR merge, inpainted the tourists, bins, shoppers, bikes, benches and bollards, out of the foreground and mid ground. I used selective masks to retrieve blown out detail and saturate some of the brick tones, defringed and added a final adjustment to overall brightness contrast and a little overall adjustment to final exposure. I am not an artist, I am not even particularly creative...but I was amazed at this software. The export function was very slick too, processing a 230MB Affinity Photo down to 2.2mb with the slider set to 80%. Oh and it took me less than an hour on my iMac Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017. I have now purchased Affinity Photo ... I just love it.
  19. Hi! I lost my Adobe Illustrator from my other computer and had to start over so here I am with Affinity Design. I recently downloaded AD and have been messing around with it lately - I really like it! When I was working with Illustrator, I used to do majority of my designs in Landscape mode, rarely portait (although I will be doing more Portrait for Grade UI Kit!). I have been rotating the artboard but it's getting annoying each time - is there a way I could quickly select Portrait or Landscape mode for a specific artboard? Another side question - I really liked the visual assistance (distance, connecting at exact same anchor spot, middle part of the line, middle alignment of artboard, aligning, etc.) in the Illustrator and I do see it every now & then in AD, but just not as often as it was in AI. Is there a way to change this to increase assistance? Any helpful tips/tricks would be very much appreciated and looking forward to getting better & perfecting my skills with AD! Thank you, Dalton
  20. Hi, this semester I used for the first time Designer for my final presentation posters in university. The site plan and the sections are drawn with Vectorworks (CAD software) and exportet as PDF for Designer. I was delighted how easy it was to adjust colors and line width of the vector parts and just switch to pixel persona for some nice background textures. I used Photo to add the diffuse fade out on the edges of the site plan. I handled the drawings as individual files and embeded them directly into the final layout file. Only the site plan was to heavy to handle for my late 2011 MPB and so i had to export and embend it as a tiff file. Maybe the size (DIN A0@300dpi) and the live blur filter could be an explanation for this ;) Feedback welcome! https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/13340316/RundgangAffinity.pdf(~34mb)
