  1. If I choose to close a document without saving I'm asked if I want to save it before closing. I have to confirm this with the mouse, but since I (on the Mac) can close the document with Command-W I already have my fingers at the keyboard, so it would be nice to finish everything with another key press. Maybe "Y" and "N" or something like that.
  2. Problem Keyboard shortcuts on the numpad are rather limited in functionality (apart from the fact that there is no differentiation between the numeric row and numpad keys), because the Shift key negates Numlock. This means that Shift+Numpad key activates the secondary function (as if numlock was turned off). It invokes Home, End, PgUp, PgDown, Left, Right, Up, Down and Clear. This means that any combination of keyboard shortcuts with the shift key becomes 'invalid' since it replicates a key that is accessed with a single press. Considering that any keyboard with a numpad has access to these stand-alone keys, it makes little sense that they are registered this way. I know some applications are faced with the same limitation, however, some (such as Blender) don't have this issue. This is on Windows 10, UK keyboard, US International layout, using 1.10.4.1198. Observation Apart from creating redundant key sequences, some of the combinations cannot seem to be assigned properly, for instance if I assign shift + Numpad 5 as keyboard shortcut, it registers as "clear". Shift + Alt + Numpad 5 becomes Alt + Clear, and Ctrl + Shift + Alt + Numpad 5 is impossible to enter, because the value box remains active on "Ctrl + Alt + Clear". Notice that the any commands assigned to key-sequence with "Clear" as value work as intended. However, it does not register when using the regular 5 key, so it is actually recording a different input than a numeric key. Expectation I expect the key-sequence to show the numbers the same way as the numeric row does, so they won't circumvent numlock when using the numpad. Better solution Or better yet, any numpad key should be registered as Num(pad) [key]. This is how Blender does it and that way, any key from the numpad, whether 1-9 or / * - + . key, they will register without issues and most importantly, may be used for additional shortcuts, see and
  3. When customising the shortcuts for Affinity Photo (right) compared to Affinity Designer (left), I noticed many shortcuts were already taken by other functions, meaning that I could not mirror the shortcuts from Affinity Designer. After some testing I can confirm that Ctrl+Alt+L and Ctrl+Alt+R (also assigned to refine edges) work with the text frame selected, whereas Ctrl+Alt+C does not (Resize canvas). So to me it is unclear which commands may and which commands may not execute due to them being overruled by other commands. Would it be possible to introduce context sensitve hotkeys to the apps, meaning that, if I have a text frame selected or when I am working with text, keyboard shortcuts within this context overrule other shortcuts. Instead of being prompted with Resize Canvas, I would be able to align my text to the centre, something that is more in-line with the current selection/ working context. The other way around, if I am not working with text, the same shortcut would execute the resize canvas command. This helps for creating both efficient (double key usage) and memorable shortcut schemes. Current behaviour when editing text or with the text frame selected (using the Move tool): Context sensitive hotkeys.mp4
  4. Description In Indesign, you can apply any character or paragraph style and setting to text through a search box (set to ctrl+Enter). This allows for making text bold, align it vertically, horizontally, insert text variables (date of creation/ last save), etc. Note that this is not exclusive to text, and could also be used to alter the appearance of frames and more. Additional options The search window has a checkbox which filters the search results based on categories. These filters are persistant, and will be applied through each subsequent search. Advantages The advantage hereof is that if you work on a book with 10+ character and paragraph styles each (some of which are nested), it can become difficult to memorise keyboard shortcut assignments to each of the styles (especially when there are multiple large projects). The idea here is that, if the styles are named according to a convention, you will only have to type (a part of) the name of the style, hit enter and it is applied to the selected text or text frame. Since it can be used to execute menu items it reduces shortcuts that need to be memorised (and can be forgotten). It is rather quick, as you don't need to search through the application, but instead just type in what you require, which could take as little as a few characters. When typing text, it does not break the flow of typing.
  5. Having spent a lot of time customising the interface and keyboard shortcuts for Affinity Photo and Designer, I don't want to redo all this work in Publisher. Instead, I would love to see Publisher synchronise the settings from both apps (this should be a checkbox within the keyboard shortcut interface so people can opt not to), thus loading in studio presets and keyboard shortcuts. Synchronising keyboard shortcuts and the like also circumvents discrepancies between the apps where, if I modify a few hotkeys, I have to take into account that this also needs to be changed the other app.
  6. Within the Develop Persona, there are particularly little keyboard shortcuts that can be configured. While most of the action occurs within the studio panels, the toolbar items are the ones that need to be mapped to keyboard shortcuts the most. Nevertheless, there are no options for me to assign show highlight clipping (O in Camera Raw), blackpoint clipping (U in Camera Raw) or clipped tones, Single view, Split view or Mirror view, neither for Sync before/ after or swap. I am also missing a toggle to toggle between the original, non-modified version of the image and the developed image, because once I synced before/ after, I cannot go back to the non-modified image.
  7. Observation In Affinity Designer there are multiple input options using the modifier key for shapes, these include: Holding shift to constrain to proportions (square, circle) Holding ctrl to scale the shape from the centre out Hold alt to ignore snapping Hold spacebar to move the shape (this is not in the tool description at the bottom of the window though). Shape and selection feature parity.mp4 Expectation However, in Designer, I may expect this to work for selection tools as well, whereas it currently does not. As you can see from the video, while using the same sequence of actions, there are things I expect to be able to do from using the shapes tool, that I cannot replicate with selection tools. Proposal My proposal for how it ought to behave is listed in italics below the observation of actual behaviour. Shift does constrain proportions (square, circle) This decision means you cannot use shift to add to a selection. In Photoshop, holding shift allows you to do both, first you hold shift to add to a selection (mitigating the need to reach to the toolbar for this) and after the initial click, you can release or press shift again to constrain the shape if needed. Shift constrain selection.mp4 Ctrl does not scale from the centre > it moves the selection with ctrl + LMB However, upon the initial creation of the selection window, with the selection drawn out, I don't see a reason why holding ctrl afterwards would not constrain the selection to be created from the centre. Alt does not ignore snapping > it subtracts from the selection (which is perfectly fine the way it is) Spacebar does not move the selection that is currently created This should be added to make more refined selections possible and to ensure continuity between the tools.
  8. Changing the brush size with [ or ] doesnā€™t work on German keyboards. The reason is that on German keyboards [ and ] are option-5 or option-6. There is no key for [ or ]. What can I do to change the brush size quickly? Or os there a way to change the hotkeys?
  9. Running Affinity Photo on a desktop with WIN7 64bit installed. I'm having a problem that I don't have with any other app: the shortcut keys (Ctrl-J, Ctrl-W, Ctrl-V, etc.) will suddenly stop working. Can not figure out the steps taken that go before it stopping. Works the same in retail as in beta version. I changed the physical keyboard to a plain run-of-the-mill keyboard, and went back to the default keyboard setup with AP. Same behavior. I have to quit the program and restart AP. Any ideas how to stop this behavior?
  10. Please add the "Selection From Layer" command to Designer as well. Requires the keyboard is pain. https://affinity.help/photoipad/en-US.lproj/contents.xml?page=pages/Selections/selections_fromlayers.html?title=Pixel selections from layers
  11. Not sure wether it came with the last update or later, but I cannot use 4-key combos anymore. I normally use ctr+sh+alt+S all the time to export, but now it does nothing. Checked settings>shortcuts, and it's still there. If I remove it and try to register it manually, only the 3 first keys are recognized. I have no new keyboard, software etc.
  12. Hi all, Recently purchased a keyboard and mouse to use along with my iPad Pro, as I thought I would be able to use Affinity Designer more intuitively. Only to find that the program is missing some very basic keyboard shortcuts. Some examples of the shortcuts in question are: Artboard panning (Spacebar + Drag), along with CMD button and (-)/(+) for zooming in and out. I really wanted to be able to invest more time into Affinity on the iPad, but feel like I can't with it lacking such basic shortcuts. Does anyone know if these are going to be added at some point (hopefully soon)??
  13. If you have some connected textboxes, allocated over some pages and you mark text by using Command+PageDown, only text on the last page is visible selected/covered (see screenshot). Same behavior if you use the mouse. Its "only a cosmetical" problem, but it makes some unconfident feeling in the workflow.
  14. Dear Affinity team, I ran into an inconsistency when navigating text with cursor keys. Reproduce * Place cursor inside any text * Press OPTION + CURSOR LEFT/RIGHT * Native MacOS: jumps word by word left/right * Publisher: narrows down word/character space * Expectation would be to make use of muscle memory from MacOS and use the same keyboard shortcut within Publisher, eg use SHIFT + OPTION + CURSOR LEFT/RIGHT (or any other) * Same for CMD + CURSOR LEFT/RIGHT which under MacOS is used for line wise jump, in Publisher used for word wise jump. System * MacOS 10.14.6 * Macbook Pro 2014 * Publisher 1.9 * No other issues encountered Would appreciate if this could be changed in the future. Thank you.
  15. Hello, I'm trying to redefine the keyboard shortcuts for brush resize (squadre brackes are a bit uncomfortable for me), it seems I have to redefine them separately for every different brush type. Is there a way to change the shortcuts for all brushes at once? I know I can also use Ctrl-Alt + mouse drag but it's very difficult for me dragging on one axis, so I often end up changing brush hardness too... Thank you in advance, Mario
  16. Hey all, and thanks to the developers for what looks like a really great suite of applications! Just bought Designer and Publisher, and am now wondering how one can change the keyboard increment / nudge distance in Publisher. Saw from a Designer forum post that it should be available there now - any hint for Publisher? It's a bread and butter function for me, and prob for many ... Thanks!
  17. howdy :) does anyone know how to customize the keyboard commands in affinity photo? thank you in advance :) ^-^
  18. On the help pages of Affinity, it shows me these shortkeys to resize brush width, etc. (see attachment) Being on windows, holding the right mouse key and alt, then moving my cursor doesn't do anything! What am I missing?
  19. Is it possible to set brush opacity + brush flow with an Affinity Photo action or with a keyboard shortcut? This enables a quicker workflow if one can just toggle between e.g. 20% opacity 20% flow and then go back to 100% opacity 100% flow without having to change it every time manually. Thank you for your advice how to do this or to take the time to add it to your feature request list. šŸ˜ƒ
  20. Affinity photo v.1.7.3 keyboard shortcuts stops working after language switch (to Russian). After changing the language back to english the shortcuts begin to work again. I use native apple software keyboard. And a bluetooth mac-style hardware keyboard.
  21. I have an issue while using affinity designer for ipad. Sometimes when I select a text to edit, my on screen keypad doesn't show so I can't edit the text. I do have an external keyboard but I don't always want to use it. The "funny" thing is that when I have my physical keyboard connected, sometimes the in screen keyboard pops up anyway in designer. I don't know if it's a designer bug or an ipad bug but in any case it's quite frustrating and makes it difficult to get any good work flow.
  22. Hi, I'm looking for the shortcuts for a AZERTY keyboard. The following ones here don't fully work for me... I can change tools using z, j, ... no issue. But I still can't change my tool/brush width the easy way. https://shortcuts.design/toolspage-affinityphoto.html https://affinityspotlight.com/article/downloadable-affinity-keyboard-shortcut-cheat-sheets/ Thanks a lot in advance
  23. I couldn't find a way to set a keyboard shortcut for the following 'most used' blend modes Normal, Multiply, Overlay, Screen/Softlight Photoshop uses a Ctrl+ Shift+ a letter (M, S, F,)
  24. Hello Whenever I use keyboard shortcuts (any shortcuts) the app crashes. When I select menu commands it doesn't. The crash log attached (incl. hardware configuration, system version etc). System locale ā€“ Russian, but I set "English" for AP. Affinity Photo.crash
  25. Iā€™m using affinity designer on my iPad Pro 11 with an apple keyboard folio and a mouse. It would be great to have command-c command-x command-v command-z delete and other keyboard shortcurts Also modifier keys so for example I can draw a rectangle from center, or corner point, etc...
