  1. I recently learned about the new upcoming image format called the High Efficiency Image File Format (or HEIF), which was mentioned in the Windows Blog (https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2018/03/16/announcing-windows-10-insider-preview-build-17123-for-fast/#OALyDY4AdhDIahYX.97). After looking into HEIF, I was wondering if Affinity was working on support for HEIF for Affinity Designer & Affinity Photo (or if support is already there). The initial impressions of HEIF look promising and might be an image format that can improve workflows. If you need details on HEIF, I've posted links below. 2. Hi all! I got a serious problem with some jpeg files after importing them. I tried to open a jpeg of a Corona sixpack (no promoting intended) in AP and this happens. Most parts of the photo are missing and the missing parts are transparent. Any ideas?? The issue is not present if I first open the jpeg in any other software and convert it to .png but I would really like to safe the time bc I work on thousands of photos... (sorry if a similar issue has already been posted and I missed it)
  3. Hello, confusion reigns. I am importing jpeg images from Olympus 16meg micro 4/3 camera to iPad using SD card adaptor and wirelessly using Cascable. When I view file size in iPad Photos using the app EXIF Wizard Pro it tell me they are about 2meg. In iPad files it tell me same file size 2meg. When I open these same JPEGs in Affinity and then export them the file size is 9meg, this is the file size I would expect. I have tried this with both raw and jpeg imports and jpeg only imports. Am I getting confused with thumbnail images and full resolution images when I query the file size? As mentioned I am getting 2meg file size in both Iphoto and in Files. is the image size being artificially increased when it is put into Affinity. is the app only giving me the size of the thumbnail and Affinity automatically open full resolution image? any thoughts greatly appreciated. David
  4. After processing JPEG and TIFF files in Affinity Photo for Windows, I can no longer open the files in Nikon Capture NX-D. However, the same files will open in other programs such as Picture Window Pro, Windows Photo Viewer, & On One. Any suggestions? Thank you.
  5. Hi! Continuous export is misbehaving on me. Sometimes it works but most of the time it doesn’t and I have to switch to the Export persona and export manually. I’m exporting a couple of slices into JPEGs, which I have then in turn plugged into Skala Preview for previewing on my iPhone. This is how it’s set up... not sure what else can I specify (other than attaching the file, unfortunately I can’t do that). Also, if I could suggest one small feature into the workflow, it would be that when in the Export persona, and I pressed "v" on the keyboard, it would throw me back to Draw. No tool in Export is assigned to "v" and it would speed me up quite a lot. Cheers, Jakub
  6. Hello Affinity Support, Do you have an update on the jpeg embed metadata problem or a upcoming fix, as I really need metadata in my jpegs as a use D.A.M and losing metadata is really a BIG problem and lots of afp/afd users have commented on this bug. Are there other export formats I can use that will not suffer the problem. Regards Chris
  7. I'm having a problem with Photo adding a white border when I batch-process converting Affinity files to JPG. This doesn't happen when I export individual files using the file menu. Am I missing a setting in the batch job dialogue that would stop this happening?
  8. I have edited several photos of a photo session. Lets say a have several dozens of images ready to export then as JPEG. In LR, I just select all final images and choose export to create the JPEG of all selected photos. What is the best way to do that in Affinity ? What is the best workflow to deal with editing and saving all selected images of a photo session ? best regards
  9. Hello. I am suddenly having issues with exporting any files that I have in affinity designer. No file formats will export to the desktop, my flash drive, or any folders.
  10. Howdy. I'm working on graphics for an Antique Dollhouse that need to be printed full size. I'm using an outside printing service for my color graphics and have exported the files in PDF and JPEG format, for ease of transportation. Unfortunately, in doing so, the actual size of the images reduces, the length by about 1/8 inche and the width by about 1/16 inch. Since the printing service does not have Affinity Design, I have to export to something that they can print from. Anybody else notice the reduction when exporting and fix the problem? Thanks, Keith
  11. I'd appreciate some feedback on the process I'm using to convert image files for print (book). I've recently come over from Photoshop and am sure that Affinity Photo/QuarkXPress2017 are the right combination to produce the result I want, but I need reassurance - or suggestion of a better way ... This is what I do: Open the file (usually a .jpg) in Affinity Photo Change colour format to CMYK (8 bit) Using Resize document, change DPI to 300, uncheck Resample and click resize Then using Resize document again, change units to Millimetres (is there a way to make this the default unit) and then change the width to slightly over the finished size of the image in the book, choosing Resample at this stage. Then save as ... Then Export as TIFF CMYK (making no other changes on that dialogue box) However, I then always seem to have to resize the image (sometimes to less than 10%) once I've imported it into QuarkXPress2017 ... and the image file produced is rather large. Can anyone suggest what I'm doing wrong? Help would be much appreciated!
  12. When manipulating RAW files and exporting them into JPEG, the EXIF data does not contain any clue, that the JPEG was created using Affinity Photo. Most other tools use the EXIF-Tag "Software" to identify, they were used (e.g. Photoshop, Windows Photo Editor, Lightroom etc.). Wouldn't this help to increase the degree of recognition of Affinity Photo?
  13. Hi Support team and all users, I have a problem when I export some large files then my system using 100% CPU Usage and Memory 8GB and my graphics card is also 4GB. System Hang and taking unlimited time to save files. I was creating a wall banner approx 16ft x 8ft. When I need to send sample image to my friends for review JPEG didn't save and system hang. I had sent mail to support but they were not able to solve this problem. So they suggest me to post it on forum. Please help what is the problem. Is it system problem or Affinity Photo software problem. Chetram Kumawat 22x8_wall_banner.afphoto
  14. As you can see from the attachment, the same file displays at different pixel sizes depending on whether it was initially exported from Affinity Designer or Photoshop. My question is why. Why won’t the jpeg exported from Affinity Designer display at the larger Photoshop size? Does anyone have any idea? Is there any box I can check so that AD matches the Photoshop display size? Thanks.
  15. Hello there, I've been using affinity designer recently for creating figures for my research. Sometimes I use it for photo collaging. I am also planning on purchasing Affinity photos soon. It's been really helpful software and the learning curve is easy even for beginners, without any background of vector designing software. I am using Affinity designer 1.6.0 on 2013 iMac runs on Sierra. Recently, I noticed a little bit problem with how the software works. When I create a new document for photo collage, It will starts without any layer (no background layer). Then, I started to add some photos and put a layer mask on it. Now in the layer panel I have two layers, one is the photo at the top, and mask layer at the bottom, indented. After that, I exported this file as JPEG. However, in the JPEG file the effect of mask layer is disappeared. So, I get the original photo without mask. This issue is not happened if I exported the file as PNG. I also can fix it by adding empty layer at the bottom, and export as JPEG file. I think i can't say it's a bug, rather it's my insufficient knowledge on layers system on both file types. However, for beginner users like me, the program does not follow with 'What you see is What you get' concept. I put some screenshots on the attachment for explanation. SS1.png, 1.png, 1.jpg is a set, we can see 1.jpg lost its mask layer. ^ SS1 ^ 1.jpg ^ 1.png SS2.png, 2.png, 2.jpg is a another set with empty background layer, both JPG and PNG file apply the mask layer. ^ SS2 ^ 2.jpg ^ 2.png I hope my explanation is understandable. Best regards,
  16. Hey folks, Actually I'm using AP 1.6.6 on a MacBook with macOS High Sierra 10.13.1 I have problems that Affinity Photo freezes when I try to open multiple (>5) jpegs at once (did it quite often with version 1.5 without problems when I want to rescale picture for web) The program freezes and does not give any reaction anymore. Only possibility is to kill the program and restart it open less files at once. Hope somebody can give me hand solving this issue
  17. Hi, I stumbled on a JPEG that sometimes shows up too dark in some cases on the web for some reason. Upon investigating what the issue for this was (suspecting an embedded color profile) I also loaded it into Affinity Photo. Upon loading Photo assigns the default color profile (sRGB) to the "unprofiled" image and the image shows up too dark too. Loading the same image into Photoshop results in the proper colours. According to Photoshop the file is in "Linear Color Space". It seems this "Linear Color Space" situation for JPEG files isn't handled by Affinity Photo yet. Also it doesn't seem to be possible to convert the image later into this space unless one converts into 32bit first. It doesn't result in proper colours either, however. Image in question is available here: https://imgur.com/gallery/0DP5M (credit to Reddit user JulianF6 via
  18. Dear all, I'm sure that many of you already requested this feature and I was guessing where is located the function in the panel? Hoping is possible...Otherwise, what is the suggested alternative from the AD team? Thank you Pietro
  19. My Jpegs appear blurry and I can't figure out why... I've never had this problem with Pixelmator or Photoshop. I tried using the Bicubic option instead of Bilinear as it suggested in one of the tutorial, it seemed to make a difference earlier but now it doesn't??? Using Affinity has been very puzzling so far... it seems as though I would need to be an expert Graphic Designer to understand how to use it. Also, what is Resampling?
  20. Hello, I found a bug when I'm exporting: image with a mask and without background export to JPEG doesn't use my mask Solution: Adding a background layer solves this problem. Environment: Affinity Photo trial version v1.6.6 macOS 10.13.1 Thank you!
  21. Hello. I have weird situation with AP. When I export file to jpg it looks weird. Blacks become blue. Please look at attached screen. For me it looks like a bug in AP or am I doing something wrong? Daniel

    IPTC not exported

Hi, I am running version 1.6.6 on High Sierra. I am modifying a tiff file containing IPTC data (keywords, location, GPS coordinates); all these information are shaved off when exporting to JPEG even when the "Embed metadata" box is checked. Is there something I am missing to get the expected behavior? The JPEG exported from PS from the same tiff file contains all the metadata.
  23. Why is the resized jpeg image blurry even when the aspect ratio is preserved going to a smaller size?
  24. I have some jpg images that I want to cut as stencils in my Silhouette design program. But the colors are reversed so that the Silhouette program cuts the wrong part of the jpeg, i.e., it cuts out the black part rather than the white part that I want to cut out. I'm wondering is there is any way to reverse the colors in the image. Doing so would allow me to cut this correctly. I have both Photo and Designer.I tried doing a recolor adjustment but that didn't work. I tried rasterizing the layer to see if I could convert the image to curves but that didn't work either. Are there any other options, or is this just the nature of jpgs? Thanks for the help.
  25. When I export and share some files a series of parallel horizontal lines appear down the right hand side of the photo, they don't show in affinity nor in photos (Mac), but when I then share, for example, on Facebook, they appear... for or example the photo below does not show here, but does if posted..
