  1. Tabemashō (pronounced “ta-bay-ma-SHOW’) is a Japanese phrase meaning “Let’s Eat!” This particular piece is also my homage to the Japanese concept of “kawaii” - meaning “cute”, hence all those adorable little faces on the food decorating the ramen bowl. I’ve been kicking this idea around for a while now, and I finally found the time to finish it. Thank god it’s done now though - those noodles nearly killed me! (Weirdly, this is my second piece featuring noodles - see my previous piece “Kazuko” - I never want to draw another one as long as I live!) Hope you like it!
  2. Zoom-in shortcut should be ⌘= rather than ⌘+. It's Ctrl = on Windows. why it's different on Mac? Though ⌘= works with the US keyboard, it does not work with the JIS(Japanese) keyboard. On JIS Keyboard, - "=" is on the same key with "-." - "+" is on the same key with ";." The result is: - ⌘= does not work. - ⌘+(⌘⇧;) conflicts with the spell check.
  3. Anybody can post translation suggestion for Japanese UI on this topic.
  4. It seems that this problem still exists in 1.10. Without enabling the Romaji input in Japanese IME, it will be impossible to input Japanese in Affinity after press the "英数" key. Also someone's article about the problem. (in Japanese) https://note.com/kawakoshi_shi/n/na102a8e22de6
  5. Would be nice if you could implement "palt" feature https://sparanoid.com/lab/opentype-features/#palt Additionally pwid/pkna/halt would be nice. https://sparanoid.com/lab/opentype-features/#pwid https://sparanoid.com/lab/opentype-features/#pkna https://sparanoid.com/lab/opentype-features/#halt East Asian Tetragrams (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) smpl trad tnam expt hojo nlck jp78 jp83 jp90 jp04 hngl ljmo tjmo vjmo fwid hwid halt twid qwid pwid palt pkna ruby hkna vkna Ultimately I would like you to add "Mojikumi" feature that's set of templates for kerning. https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/composing-cjk-characters.html#change_mojikumi_settings
  6. The optical alignment is applied to wrong characters and isn't applied to characters that suppose to in Japanese. e.g. a rule for フ affects both フ and ブ. and a rule for ブ doesn't affect ブ. see the attached file. ブ is the sonant form of フ. Most characters in Japanese have its sonant form and the optical alignment seems to affects all of them. optical-alignment.afpub
  7. I work a lot with Japanese texts and this would be my request feature number 1. When you are writing in horizontal, you can change your selected text to vertical orientation. (When I tried , that bar didn't flip from horizontal to vertical.) Like this example: (カレー). (This is wrong writing) x (This is acceptable) カ カ レ レ x ー > | That also works inside Text Editor for mac, when you go to Layout Orientation > Vertical. My other suggestion is to add something like World and iPages that is called > Phonetic Guide Text. (It's used for both Japanese and Chinese called Furigana or Ruby) Japanese Indesign has all these features for writing in Japanese too. Arigatou!
  8. many Japanese users can't switch Japanese and English. following blog say "you should check romaji". but my computer doesn't have romaji... https://hayatastic-design.com/blog/mac_affinity_designer_fix/ So Always switch text in another applications as a TextEditor. Please watch my movie. Thanks! IMG_0499.MOV
  9. Hi. I'm a Japanese user of Affinity Designer only on iPad(6th gen, iPadOS14.7.1). I noticed most of all the characters I put on my design were broken those are installed by AnyFont app (existing on AppStore). Specifically those are Japanese free to use fonts. However the issue seems only on designer 1.10.0, other apps seemed to be able to handle those fonts. I could install some of the fonts directly on Designer and those were working. Are those iPadOS issue or Affinity Designer's bug? If those were bugs, are there any solutions? thanks.
  10. New piece – Kazuko. I’ve always wanted to draw a “cyber geisha”, and my initial idea for this was much more anime inspired (set against a towering futuristic cityscape, drenched in neon, maybe in the rain?) However, whilst I was thrashing out my preliminary sketches, I couldn’t shake the feeling that it was all a bit clichéd, and had been done a million times before by far better artists than I. Instead, I wanted it to be much less dramatic, and far more subtle. I liked the idea that you wouldn’t necessarily realise she was an android at first glance, and that it was only as you examined her more closely that the details would jump out at you: the seams on her arms, , the circuitry under her skin, the pixel pattern on her kimono, the robot prawn. I’ve no idea whether my attempt at subtlety works or not – you’ll have to be the judge – but in any event, here she is. Hope you like her!
  11. Some users complain that Japanese input with hardware keyboards won't work properly when the Live Conversion is enabled It's in iOS Settings > General > Keyboard > Hardware Keyboard *please move this topic to Bug report section. I've posted this in wrong section.
  12. When I open a PDF, embedded fonts are garbled if they are not available on the computer. This might be compatibility problem of the encoding of the font. When will this be fixed? I found related topic https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/82519-japanese-fonts-in-pdf-not-displaying-correctly/ https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/63218-about-the-replace-missing-fonts-japanese-fonts/ embedded-fonts-ai.pdf embedded-fonts-affinity.pdf
  13. I will post the bugs in 1.10 beta here. The first bug is that Publisher crashes if I type Japanese when the text cursor is at outside of the text frame.(by text overflow)
  14. The stroke on text with particular font will be shifted when printing. I can send the font(it's a paid font so I can not upload here directly) as sample.
  15. If the document has more than one page, input bar pops up where it is far from the text frame when inputting Japanese. This doesn't happen If the document has only one page.
  16. A vector illustration of a ramen bowl, with use of basic shapes, gradient colors and shading effects. This work was made following a tutorial by visual artist Isabel Aracama.
  17. This video has wrong caption in Japanese. https://affinity.serif.com/ja-jp/tutorials/designer/desktop/video/301822426/ The caption seems to be the one from this. https://affinity.serif.com/ja-jp/tutorials/designer/desktop/video/301821541/
  18. Search in Japanese/Chinese isn't working. I reported this a while ago and it haven't been fixed. https://affinity.help/designer/ja.lproj/ https://affinity.help/designer/zh-Hans.lproj/ https://affinity.help/photo/ja.lproj/ https://affinity.help/photo/zh-Hans.lproj/
  19. Photo crashes when selecting a layer before showing the layer selection dialog with Japanese UI. (Seems to be ok with English UI) Step to reproduce: 1. start recording a macro. 2. create a pixel layer. 3. duplicate it multiple times with Cmd+J 4. select a layer.
  20. Hi, If I type Japanese texts in Affinity Designer(1.7.3) on Catalina(10.15.1), it be Alphabets. Please fix it. - hi_jp
  21. Please add a caution to the product description that Affinity can not handle Asian vertical writing. On all stores - Serif store, Apple app store and MS app store, especially in Japanese Many many users complains after they purchased Affinity and they put Affinity down on Social Media because of disappointment. See these complains, this has been going on since long time ago and will continue until you implement vertical writing. https://twitter.com/search?q=affintiy 縦書き&src=typed_query&f=live
  22. I have same problem on MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019) - Affinity Designer 1.8.3 - Mac OS Catalina 10.15.5. But, there's no problem on my old one: MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013) - Affinity Designer 1.8.3 - Mac OS Mojave 10.14.6. I suppose there's some compatibility problem with new Magic Keyboard. If possible, please check on MacBook with new Magic Keyboard.
  23. Would be nice if you could add "Q" unit for typography additions to point/pixel/millimeter/inch. Adobe has this unit in their products. It's the standard unit in Japanese publishing/printing industry. 1Q =0.25mm Q means quarter
  24. I can use the English name font in text style as usual. For example, Verdana and Yu Gothic UI However, when I select a font with a Japanese name such as "游明朝", it is displayed that the font cannot be found (the font name is prefixed with "?"). It definitely exists because it is included in Japanese Windows 10. I also can't choose font characteristics (Bold, Italic ...). Affinity doesn't seem to find the font. This issue seems to occur in all Affinity products on Windows (checked in Designer 1.8.5.703).
  25. This remains unfixed, and is actually not limited to Publisher, but a bug across all Affinity products. 中日韓亞洲標點符號排版問題
