  1. We are pleased to announce an update for the iPad release of Affinity Designer 2 for iPad, version 2.3.0 The changes in Affinity Designer 2 for iPad 2.3.0 (those made since the last release Affinity Designer 2 for iPad 2.2.1) are listed in this FAQ forum post: To get notified when any new releases are made please follow the latest releases thread by clicking here UPDATING TO THIS VERSION (which is free for all V2 users) The software version can be seen in the bottom left the corner of preferences screen. Your Affinity iPad apps should update automatically next time you run them. However, you do need to be logged in with the same Apple ID you used to buy them. If the automatic update does not happen for you, go to the iPad Store app and go to Updates. Once you’re there, tap near the top of the screen where it states 'Updates' and then hold, pull down and then release. This should manually refresh the updates page. However, don’t panic if the updates are not available for you yet—Apple sometimes phase roll outs around the world and this can take up to 24 hours.

  4. Hello, I noticed that the top rule for placing horizontal guides was not displayed when Stage Manager was activated. Simply disabling Stage Manager makes the rule reappear. I hope this can help you improve your software.

  8. Since today, Designer often does not refreh the display of my documents after an edit. I then have to change display mode every time to refresh the display and be able to see the document with the edit. I could not identify what causes the malfunction and what ends it again for some minutes. Restart is no help. The other (affinity) apps are not affected. Did somebody have this experience and find a solution? I would be grateful.
  9. Recently, I have been saving my AP ver 2 images to “Files” on my iPad. I have just tried to open some of the images, but the program tries to open using the original Affinity Photo app. How do I change my settings to default to opening the images in Affinity Photo version 2. Currently, I am unable to open the images because the Version 2 edits are not compatible with the old Affinity Photo.
  10. Hi, Newbie here. Wish to purchase software, but before I make the jump, can you help me out with what the scripting options are. I think I read in the forum, scripting was talked about 4 years ago. I am wandering what progress has been made on this front. It comes across, as there still might not be any scripting integration. If there are plans to introduce then a timeline and what language etc, would help, to help me decide my purchase. Many thanks
  11. On the iPad version of Designer, since update version 2.2.0.2005 when I go to Save or Save as a document, Designer forgets the previous file name and changes it to "Untitled".

  16. I’m using Photo2 on an iPad Pro, editing a large image. It’s editing it fine without delay but when I try to export it the app crashes. I’ve also tried to merge the layers (thinking that might reduce the size) but that also crashes the app. I don’t really want to resize smaller if I can help it, as I’ll just have to make it larger again later. I have enough space on my iPad to save the image. I’ve attached an IPS file from today but I don’t understand it. Do you? Photo iPad-2023-09-04-125359.ips
  17. This concerns defining new Textured Intensity brushes on iPad and MBP. Both are running latest AD2; iPad is latest published iPadOS, MBP (early 2016) is running Monterey 12.6.8, latest for that hardware. I am building experimental TI brushes. My goal is to make them in widths that double from one nozzle to the next. The nozzle widths I’m using are more accident/experiment than insight. The Issue The issue is that I have a TI nozzle I can turn into a brush on the iPad, but the MBP changes the entered width on the MBP. This is the same PNG Nozzle file on both machines. Same brush settings; iPad accepts brush width of 1424px, MBP makes a brush, but reduces that width to 1024px - silently, no alerts for the bug at the keyboard. Surely the upper limit to Nozzle Width should be the same on both iPad and MBP? Making this Mischief On iPad: I made the nozzles using the attached AD2 document, and exported the Nozzles with Export Persona. After making the brushes using the exported PNG files, I used the X8 and X4 variants in the associated Butterfly Wings. My brushes are somewhat crazy, but AD2 did everything as expected. Moving to MBP: I airdropped the iPad AD2 document and PNG Nozzles to my MBP, and set about making the brushes in AD2 for MBP. That’s when I noticed that AD2 was putting the fattest Nozzle on a diet - no 1424px width for the MBP, just 1024px. The Cargo AD2 source document created on iPad, X4 and X8 nozzles. I will add at least a screenshot from my MBP to this bug report shortly. Note Document is 300DPI, reflecting my photographic background, just makes things simpler for my head. These are wide brushes, but I’m very pleased to report that I’ve not seen any hint of performance issues on either of my machines. I’ve played with both Repeat and Stretch setting, no perceptible difference. Brush strokes inside the Butterfly wings deliberately have very acute angles, causing mitre issues/artifacts, which is why some got split into 3 separate segments each. 18. I really wonder why there is no proper way to select points in the Designer persona other than the rectangle. I wish we had a lasso tool that would allow me to quickly select points / lines freely, just like we can select pixels with the lasso tool over there. The rectangle is stiff and why I understand that I can add or remove dots from the selection with keystrokes, nothing beats the speed of drawing around just the points i need in one stroke. From a technical standpoint as I see it: The tool itself is already in the pixel persona - all it takes is an algorithm that works with designer / vector data to find all points inside the area. And it needs an icon / shortcut to activate it. This is needed for both, Desktop and iPad Versions, as it would speed up certain workflows immensely. Especially when using Tablets on Desktop or the Apple Pencil.
  19. On the iPad, there is a button on the top right corner that hides the UI to provide a fullscreen vieuw of your work. It hides all UI buttons and tools, except... the command controller button that stays in the way and disturbs the nice fullscreen view. It should toggle on and off together with the other UI elements.

  21. Could someone at affinity please send an update on why the ability to open a raw file from Apple photos app on iPad M1 Pro no longer works in v2.1? It worked in the previous version so surely it’s not too difficult to compare the coding.
  22. I have installed fonts through font manager in affinity design but they are not showing up when I try use them
  23. I know that Stage Manager support is not there yet, but when it comes, would it be possible to put a preview screen on an external monitor that is zoomable? For instance, I am drawing a character. While I am working on its face, the current preview is of the whole document, so the face is very small and of no help at all. An option to be able to zoom into a specific area on the preview on a large, external monitor, would be very powerful.
  24. It's been an issue for a really long time and it still seems to of not appeared in version 2.1, when will we be able to create a document on the iPad app and when going back to the main screen it automatically save to iCloud for us to pick up on desktop? Currently it has to be saved each time you want it to upload for iCloud to realise it needs syncing. How can we do it so that its automatically saving the second we close the app? So many other apps do this automatically and the amount of times I've made something on iPad and then Gond to desktop and forgotten is really annoying, especially if I haven't got my iPad handy to save over. It's just really inefficient as it currently stands.
  25. Hi, Happened a few times today: The app freezes and then crashes when selecting a new brush in the Pixel Persona. Does not happen all the time, only sometimes + haven't identify a reason for this occurence. Notice the brushes preview now (since last update) takes a while to load at times. Thanks. iPad pro 12,9 5th ios 16.5.1 256gb
