  1. Of all the speed and practical features i enjoy in my workflow- wich AD excels and covers me (thanks a lot!) - the most crucial for me is missing: profiles. (2nd most, right below shortcuts) I want speed. I want to focus on what im working with - and something that enhances the experience a lot is having the interface suited precisely for what im doing. The more tabs i have to find/click, floating windows, move the cursor across my monitor and such the less i concentrate; I easily get into 'the flow' - and AD is top on getting me there, thanks A LOT - but it fades and breaks the more menu fiddling i have to do. AD already is councious of that with the amazing Draw, Pixel and Export personas. Amazing. But how much im missing fine tuning then to specific needs. Typography for instance. How much i wanted to 'click' in typography (how i would call a personal profile) and the interface changing to show all text panels in the layout i liked most for that. Or the symbols and assets panels (loving these features) wich sits better docked alongside the artboard but only when i need then... Wouldn't be any fuss if my process was linear - first this then that - but i constantly switch between 'modes' so to say, ridiculously more so the earlier i am on a design - testing and tuning combinations of elements and alterntives and such. Surely not as critical as bug fixing, or major features (how much i want some kind of 'blob brush') - but considering how Ux is king and on my view what is making AD take on the competition so well (killing at it id say), this is pretty much the only major Ui/ux feature i see missing from the perfect AD i can envision. Just imagining assigning some shortcuts to profiles and swithcing in the blink of a eye would sit really really well alongside the fluid 10000 zoom, infinite history... the feel and practicity of the whole thing.
  2. Hi genius developers, Wonderful software and great tutorials. Thanks ! But… Aperture's interface with Epson Photo R3000 was perfect. For the moment, Affinity's one is a bit disappointing. Do you plan something about it ? Aperture's interface for Epson R3000.tiff
  3. Hello guys, Just a humble suggestion for improving the user interface. I noticed that the toolbar has no hover effects on the tool-icons. This makes navigation a little bit less comfortable than on certain competition programs. I also noticed that the behavior of button is quite different from button to button. So what do you think of making a very subtle hover effect on the tools and buttons as you already have on (some of) the buttons in the top bar (beneath the menu)? Though the effect there is a little bit to weak, so I'd enchance it a little more. Some Buttons are great in that case (for example the little icons for layer effects, mask layer etc. in the layer panel but some don't have any (for example the dropdown-icon (opacity,...) or the 'Properties'-button in the stroke panel. I attached a little screenshot as an example for the hover effect. before (without (easy visible) hover effects): after (with (enhanced) hover effects): Cheers, Jay
  4. When closing the file | open dialog box from cancel, or alt+tab fast switching between Affinity and other apps on my Lenovo laptop, the application window occasionally appears to go into very low resolution mode for a moment as it redraws. It happens very quickly and does not cause any performance issues. It does not happen consistently and I have not been able to reproduce it on other monitors. This may be related to some of the other posts I've read related to the graphics driver type.
  5. Hi, I downloaded the Beta, and began testing it. Here are the issues that pop out to me: Will not retain preferences such as colour profiles and languages dictionaries do not appear to have been installed Crashes when opening some files
  6. If recently loaded and installed the beta of Affinity Designer. First of all it feels charmingly familiar to work with it although I've only touched Affinity Photo for a quick test on OS X (coming from an Adobe background). The issue I'm facing is not a technical bug in any of the functions but an formal thing with the interface and language of the software I've noted that the localization if not consistent throughout the interface. The first point I'm noticing it is the default workspace view with a new blank document open. Above the workspace I have a bar showing two buttons for "Dokumenteinstellungen.." and "Einstellungen.." which relates to document setup and settings/preferences in english. In the very top menu bar the language is english all over which gives the impression of a halfway done localization. I can't actually tell if it applies to other languages too, but when setting my own language to "Deutsch/German" this issue becomes visible all the time (and at some other parts of the interface). For my personal preference I would actually stick to plain simple english all the time, but as I'm located in germany and run on a german windows system Designer assumed to setup my interface to german too and I faced this inconsistencies. Overall the mixture gives a weird feeling on whether there is something broken with the installation or my system language is interfering with some sort of settings. I hope this will be handled throughout the beta development to present Designer and the other software packages with a flawless interface in all languages (or just truncate the list of languages to a few more required one). I've attached an image of the current interface marking the german and english parts visible at the same time. Kind Regards
  7. I kind of like the flick panning in Photoshop. Any plans for this in AD or AP? It's nice and smooth.
  8. Compare the below images from Export PNG "More" dialog: aliased text (when option unchecked) antialiased (when option is checked)
  9. What photo browser is recommended when using Affinity Photo? I have been using Adobe Browser along with Photoshop and the interface is clean and easy between the two Adobe produces. What browser will work best with Affinity Photo? Thanks, Joe
  10. If I open a dialog the only things that are accessible by keyboard are the input fields. Example I would like tab through the first dropdown (arrow down + enter to select) then tab through the size, adjusting it, then tab to resize and hit enter = done. Now i'm forced to use my mouse to adjust Resample and hit the resize button.
  11. General UI Layout: Vertical Space Usage There's something that drives me _bananas_ about PS Elements; but it's also a concern about almost every graphics & photo app in existence: Most User Interfaces squander valuable vertical screen real estate, heedlessly and unnecessarily. Here's the situation: - Modern screens are much wider than tall. - Many people spend at least some of their productive time working on a little laptop screen. - Even with Retina displays, it's often necessary to limit screen res, for UI legibility. - Documents, layouts and graphics are just as likely to be portrait orientation, as landscape. So obviously vertical space is way more likely to be a problem than horizontal. When you're working on a portrait style page or a tall object, every last vertical pixel is precious. (Worst case scenario: Editing a portrait in PS Elements, you're lucky to have 30% of screen pixels for your image!! Absurd.) This is probably more of a request for the upcoming Affinity Photo app; but it sure would be useful to have in Designer, too: It would be über useful to have at least the option of getting all interface elements off to the sides to allocate all vertical resources to the document/page. 2 different UI layout presets, maybe? – 1 for landscape, 1 for portrait? Thanks for your consideration!
  12. I have 2 Macs. I know this is a per Mac issue. When I click the Export Persona Button (3rd button from left), the whole top of the program turns gray and the icons turn blurry. I click back on the Draw or Pixel Persona buttons and it is still gray with blurry icons. I tried to copy this issue on my MacBook Pro and no issue there! What can I do to fix this... iMac is 2009 with Yosemite, MacBook Pro is 2012 with Yosemite. All updates current as of today. I have tried to check "Reduce Transparency" and uncheck "LCD font smoothing" but these do not help. Also Yosemite seems to get the "blurry text" fever every so often, but that is an OS X issue i'm sure!
  13. So, I was browsing the Iphone App Store and came across this beautiful Dieter Rams inspired app called WTHR By David EIgena. I wanted see if I could recreate one of the screen entirely with Affinity Designer. Part of the reason I am doing this, is to see how I can utilize Affinity in different situations and workflows. Of course I don't have time to design an entire app for in a few hours but I can recreate the look for study purposes.Doing this sort of thing shows me where Affinity Designer is strongest. Working in different workflows also gives me a better understanding of how this application can replace other tools in my arsenal. After completing this exercise, the only thing I would wish is the ability to add multiple artboards in one file. Everything was created with Affinity with the exception of the IPhone Image which you can download here: http://www.teehanlax.com/tools/iphone/ Credit to Andrew Vega for supplying the iphone link resource in his Affinity training video
